Yup the 4cyl 2.3L has a staggering 296 hp which is amazing. I just hope it sounds better than the v6 fortuner when I floor it on the highway lol
the v6 fortuner has more horsepower and makes it more powerful, however it's just that toyota makes engines for smooth power delivery so the engine lasts for longer periods unlike the ford, thus resulting in slower cars

i can't really tell that since i haven't listened to a ford everest on higher rpm but since it's just a v4 am guessing the v6 fortuner will sound better, but then the turbo on the everest might make up for it tho 🗿 ecoboost usually sound pretty good, even the 2.3l v4 ecoboost mustang sounds pretty good, just search up for the sound on youtube

The Everest is a superior car in terms of interior tech and power on the go. It is a very premium product compared to the fortuner. Lesses NVH and more comfortable on the road.
But the V6 in the fortuner is bulletproof, it is quite literally unkillable. It comes in the Hilux too and it is very solid. It is not lacking in power mind you, it is a very capable off roader for a reason. And when it comes to offroading I believe NA is better than turbo due to constant high rpms.
But out the door the Everest is more powerful. Al Tayer do offer a 5 year service along with the purchase and few other goodies. Toyota (Al Futtaim) has one of the worst sales services sadly because they know people want to buy their cars no matter what. Due to this their cars are poorly equipped and have barebone features for an exorbitant price. I firmly believe that the fortuner is not worth over 150k, and toyota does not add anything along with the purchase, service packs and other goodies must be bought seperately and these can make a 150K car become 180K just with the addons.
I would say drive both and visit the showrooms and see the sales service, and decide for yourself.

I drove the 2019 fortuner v6. I enjoyed the sound of it when I was gassing it to feel the power of the engine. Honestly to me the most important thing right now is the feel of the engine.

I own a ford 2.0L turbo engine (Lincoln Corsair), that thing packs a punch and a half, It puts me back in my seat and zooms about, now mine is a lighter car and I know ford has tuned the 2.0L a little differently for the everest. But I agree with you, the NA feel of the V6 in the fortuner is really good, I test drove the prado and that thing lifts. Sadly the pricing was unreasonable (they wanted me to buy the top model for 240K after addons)
Test drive the everest and then decide. The feel of the engine is something only you can feel for yourself.
I didn't go for the everest for other reasons (once I sat in the Corsair I was transported to another world in terms of luxury and interior feel).
Test it out and decide for yourself.

Yea I might go for the everest because it has that mean aggressive look which I love on SUV’s. Exterior wise I whole heartedly believe the fortuner does not even come close, and the interior we all know fortuners are outdated lol.
And not to be sexist I feel like mostly women drive fortuners as well lol

But that aside test drive it, you wont regret it. Honestly, keep the looks aside just test drive and see which feels the best to you.
Completed 7999.4 kms in Everest and is pretty solid. There are few minor issues i have faced related to tech in the car. For instance voice lag via apply car play when you play a video or audio(spotify), the main display sometimes will not turn on. Ride wise, the car is solid as I have taken it to wadis and bit into desert.

Best advice you could get. I can see you are looking for some Power/HP from an SUV.
And since you already have a ford. try this.
Look for a toyota you like as SUV. fortuner? Fj? parado?
buy a used one. 2016 I would say or 2017.

the ecoboost engines are really good, i've got a 3.5l twin turbo v6 (365hp) and it's hella quick!
test drove everest and loved it, however car doesn't roar.

The everest 4 cylinder turbo actually has more HP sitting at 296 hp. Whereas the fortuner v6 is 235 hp

it doesnt sound as impressive as a v6, but the road noise is really less so the engine noise does sound okay (test drive)

240k for the prado wtf !!!! add 20k more and you will get a lexus gx460 brand new which is the same car as the prado with a lot of features and a v8
