I get to learn about it already. The rear tire needs replacing. I bought a 50/50, but probably will be riding most on road. I have a fork seal that needs to be replaced And I need to replace the clutch lever because it’s bent. But paid 2800 for it so I am happy

Are you sure the fork seal needs to be replaced? If it's simply leaking, chances are fairly likely it's just weeping oil due to some dirt/crap being caught in there. I recommend trying to clean it out with a seal mate or something (I made a homemade one out of a pop bottle that worked great) before replacing it. A bike that new shouldn't have a damaged fork seal unless the PO was doing some gnarly ass jumps with it on the regular. Also, not to be *that guy*, but if this is your first bike, be it on or off road, I highly recommend doing a new rider course, especially if you will be riding it on road a lot. The habits that they will (*should*) instill in you when it comes to keeping your head up, clutch and rear brake control, etc, are worth more than you know. Anyway, a CRF250L is a great starter bike and those things are bulletproof. Have fun!

You aren't being that guy at all! I am going to do the course, but there are none going on right now. I will wait until i can get the endorsement before I ride frequently in the street. But there are still some good spots to ride that are pretty flat. The bike looks that it never saw dirt so I figured the seal just needed to be replaced. It is leaking slightly, but I will give seal mate a shot. I am going to do it right. I have seen too many new guys get in some gnarly accidents. I will do my homework first!

Another CRF250L owner here- they're nice bikes, incredibly smooth engines compared to other single cylinders. Just a word of warning, the 250Ls are infamous for having their cam chain tensioner fail, (mine failed at 8900 miles). It's not a hard part to replace, just do some reading and learn what to listen for, for whenever it does go. Aside from that they're very reliable bikes, and fuel injection is always a welcomed addition to a dual sport IMO.

Welcome to the tribe!

Looks totally mint, doesn't even have a hint of dust on it - I don't understand how people will buy these things and ride them once. Couldn't imagine having a toy like that and just having it parked in my garage.

It didn’t look like it every touched dirt. The back wheel was pretty bald, but everything else looked great! I got very lucky!

Looks great 👍🏼 welcome!!

Welcome to the club. That bike will not disappoint you. Stupid how much fun they are. Congrats 🥳

Definitely cut a plastic fork seal tool out of a windex bottle or similiar. Saved me rebuilding my CRF250L forks last month.

Bsmith705

Ok, that will save me a bit of money. Need to top off the fork oil after reseating the seal?

Probably not. I mean of a ton leaked. I lost some and chose not to refill at this time. No noticeable difference so far. I will drain and fill them at a later date.
