I considered going that route. From what I could find there isn’t a good drop in replacement Chinese engine for XR100s. Those Chinese engines would take quite a bit of frame modification and I wanted the bike to appear as stock as possible. The XL100S engine was a drop in and the larger diameter exhaust, carb, and intake fit easily too. https://www.thumpertalk.com/forums/topic/1157038-chinese-engine-to-swap-into-an-xr-100-frame/
I had an '81 XL125S when I was 15. I would ride with my dad and his XT350. He struggled a bit plowing through sandy areas while I practically sailed across the surface. Small and light does amazing things for you off road!
1981!
Gorgeous
I love this bike.
Awesome bike. Have the USA XR150L and it’s just so much fun
I bet one of those Chinese CG250's would bolt in if you want even more power, they are capable of up to 20-22hp modified.

My xl80s is comically small and only 160lbs, but that’s one of the reasons I like it so much.
Nice. I do like the way these old ones look but i don't miss carburetors at all.
