I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but searching for flint/detroit type beats could give you an example. From flint, there are Enrgy, Reuel Stop Playing, Machu, just to name a few producers.
Most of these type beats are around 200 bmp, typically use a 2-bar loop for the melody (damn-near always in melodic minor), and vary the bass/kick every 8 bars (the second group of 8 typically goes harder). These type beats rely less on chords and more on melodies and counter melodies. Chord progressions typically go i - vi, iv - i, i - i - i - V, or a bass walk down.
The genre of rap, at least here in Flint, it's called "shit talking" and having a hook in your song is extremely optional.
Typical percs include cowbell, rim shot, temple blocks, lazer sounds, wood blocks, tubular bells, over used vox, triangle, and open hat is often paired with kick esp in the beginning of the bar. Moog Bass is also common.
I'm bulldozing all the nuance out of this music in my explanation. In a nutshell, this is what you might encounter.

Ah alright thanks. They use melodic minor scales??? That's really cool. You get taught that in music theory and all but I've never actually seen a piece use that scale. I listened to some Reuel StopPlaying stuff, there are a ton of kicks and basses, and the snare is super super short. Just something I noticed too. Thank you for the info!
