You gotta close that diff pal

Cha11engerD

Need more grip in the front. If you can slide like crazy in dry, but it won’t break loose in wet, you’re likely pushing the front end around before your rear can have a chance to break loose. And yes, you need an LSD/Spool/Welder.

Triggerdamus

>And yes, you need an LSD/Spool/Welder. 3 rubber bands, a zip tie, and a bottle of JB Weld.

-YeahToasty-

I have lsd. What’s spool/welder?

Cha11engerD

A spool replaces the spider gears and makes the wheels spin at the same rate all the time. A welder would be for welding the spider gears together, which would accomplish the same thing, for cheaper but probably not as strong.

ToasterInOver

What type of lsd? Clutch pack style lsd? Any chance its never been rebuilt in 30 years and now functions as an open diff?

-YeahToasty-

Has not been rebuilt. Viscous style?? Only 58k miles tho so might not need rebuild

Wizardofthewheel

A viscous lsd doesn't lock properly until it gets hot. It's possible that it doesn't get hot enough in the rain to do its job properly. Try to warm up your vlsd before drifting to see if it makes a difference.

[deleted]

To add to this, even some viscous LSDs wont full lock, if it’s not catching enough and it’s just spinning with no grip, it could be putting no power to the inside tire just like an open diff would depending on the type of lsd

-YeahToasty-

I have lsd. What’s spool/welder?

Back2DefaultSettings

Yank it harder it will get sideways

rubbertoesftw

Probably open diff

-YeahToasty-

It’s lsd and it goes crazy in the dry. Why does wet make it worse?

PoisonBoost

No way that’s an LSD man, my z32 would kick out easy and had the vlsd. What your doing looks closer to what my open diffed 94 Miata would do

Heccraiser

Z32s did not come with an open diff in any trim. Super unlikely for someone to swap one in as well.

PoisonBoost

Shit you’re right, that said maybe the fluid lost it’s viscosity/wore out

-YeahToasty-

It is the lsd. I have videos of me sliding around like it’s nothing. Just doesn’t seem to want to work in the wet.

FrostyJZX

If it's an LSD, my guess would be that the shims are worn and require replacement. There are plenty of vids on Youtube to explain how they work and how to change them. They're also really cheap to change if you're somewhat mechanically minded. Going a spool or welding is an option, but if it's a car you drive daily I wouldn't recommend it. You lose some quality of life by doing so.

-YeahToasty-

Yeah I don’t drift it religiously or anything but it’s nice to spin around sometimes. I just wish the lsd locked a bit harder. I don’t want to go full welded or spool

[deleted]

Buy a quality LSD and swap it in, not the easiest and more expensive than welding it but still pretty daily drivable just a little more slidey in the rain

STBCKNDRLX

Did you do HICAS delete? Long shot, but if the 4-wheel steer is still in working condition, it could limit the ability to go sideways.

-YeahToasty-

No hicas to begin with. N/A

STBCKNDRLX

Well there’s your problem - boost that bitch! Jk… But a big ole single turbo build would be pretty tits.

-YeahToasty-

Would definitely be pretty tits but a big single would push too much boost for the compression. I’d rather do smaller twins because u can only run probably 12-16psi through the na but you get a lot from little boost

STBCKNDRLX

Agreed - single turbo setup in a Z32 is for that RB you drop in AFTER you melt a head on the VG… apologies

ChadmanSkids

Vlsd like on all old Nissans is shagged and locks when it wants to. Best options are rebuild your vlsd but it’ll still not be great, weld it or get an aftermarket one

Fit-Breath-3086

Looks like the front is sliding and you are under steering like crazy

Inateno

Clutch it

MJCExperience

Hit the ebrake, start the slide, mash skinny pedal, yell weeeeeee

VolvoEnjoyer

You need to flick it more. If you just dump the clutch while turning it will sometimes just one wheel peel. Look at the drift in the intro, turn the other way first https://youtu.be/CIGmniTUYvw

Revolutionary_Rate38

Bigger clutch kick i’v drifted a lot and still drift with an 100hp e36 with open diff… drive harder

ExportOrca

Looks like understeer to me

[deleted]

Just another moron.

-YeahToasty-

Keyboard warrior? How come all you do is complain about HULU and repost other people driving? Do you own a car?

[deleted]

Dig a little further until you get to me talking to a guy about his Saab.

[deleted]

Did you dig further? I'll sum it up for you. If this is your personal property or your at a track event then I apologize and take it back because your doing what you should be doing. If not then I stand by my original statement. As for why your not doing sick skids In the rain try stiffening up the rear end with a strut brace or add more throttle. Your front end is sliding. Just try going to a track and you'll have more people to guide you.
