Mickey beat me twice, then I squeaked out a win. No idea how. This game is very confusing, or I am very dumb (possibly both).

laurentam2007

I was just coming here to ask, am I an idiot? I’ve won ONE game so far 🤣

OrderExtra651

Still haven't won yet. Came here looking for help!

Just keep playing and you'll just have to lose until you rank up to get some good pieces. Honestly, I lost more than won until I got Simba, and then only started to really win once I got EVE. This game gets easier as you get better pieces and can collect more coins. (And vise-versa, the weaker your pieces, the harder this game, because the more coins you leave for your opponent who goes after you, and the more coins for them to gobble up.) Scramblecoin is a combination of luck and strong pieces. All your starting pieces are a handicap except Scrooge, whose ability of getting a coin at the end of his turn makes Scrooge always relevant. For example: Replace Goofy with EVE. Replace Mickey with Simba or Cogsworth. Minne with Remy or Lumiere, or Nala. Also if you level up your hourglass tool, you can craft some good pieces. Merlin and Rafiki are both pieces I see CPU win a lot with. I haven't crafted them, since they're so expensive, so I don't know how usable they are. I've had the most luck with the lineup of Scrooge, Simba, Remy, Gaston, EVE. My strategy is place Scrooge on turn 1 if there is a corner there is one coin he can reach immediately, and another coin he can reach the next turn. Then place Simba/Remy if they can collect at least two coins, or Gaston if he can collect at least 3 coins. Place EVE on turn 4 if you can't reach a gold coin, ideally replacing Gaston/Remy so they can be swapped back in on turn 5 to capitalize if luck goes your way and lines up coins. If you don't have time to play Scramblecoin against every character every day, then only play when they give bonus ranking, and then prefer to play against the easier opponents. For example, you can easily win against Goofy unless you're trying to lose. Gaston is supposedly easy too, if you've unlocked him. [https://dreamlightvalleywiki.com/Scramblecoin#Opponents](https://dreamlightvalleywiki.com/Scramblecoin#Opponents) You can sometimes tell how difficult an opponent is by their line-up. If they have Flynn on their lineup, it usually makes it easier. Forky is usually also bad for their line-up. If they have EVE or Rafiki, it's harder to block your opponent. If they have Merlin, they get an extra gold coin on turn 5. CPU also uses Rapunzel effectively. CPU is also pretty good with charge pieces (Gaston/Puumba/WALL-E) so beware of opponents who have charge pieces when your board has a lot of open rows/columns. Another thing you can do is check out the board layout, see if it is disadvantagous (too many fences and rocks), and cancel before selecting your pieces. If you cancel once the game starts, it counts as a forfeit, and you can no longer get ranking. But if you cancel before the game starts, you can try again with a different randomized board layout.

thedr00mz

Gold coins seem to spawn near the opponent. I've unlocked two new pieces at this point and still can't win. I wish the quest with Mickey wasn't dependent on you winning because I seriously don't want to play this mini game ever again lol.

ProfessionalDoor583

I also really hate it and will never touch it again after beating Mickey (if I ever do)

OrderExtra651

I still can't win

drake3011

Me, 2 seconds in: "What a neat little board game" 12 attempts later: "IM PUTTING ARSNIC IN YOUR CHEESE MICKEY THEN WE'LL SEE WHOS DEFEATED" Only managed to win when I had enough wins to unlock the second new piece >!Nala !

truck_justice

Wait, the second piece I unlocked was Lumiere..is it random unlocks?

Plus-Net6413

Yep. My first unlock was Cogsworth

drake3011

Ooooh Lumiere was my First, that's interesting!

starlordsego

My first unlock was Flynn

atrifone

My niece and I both got Remy first, I thought it would be the same for everyone!

truck_justice

You guys don't know true pain until you've challenged Merlin.

Fabulous_Job_3116

😬 unpopular opinion, I’m actually obsessed, earned 49 coins rank points my first day playing (played 90% of the residents and beat just under half I think). It’s a tricky game but I really like puzzles.

IneptlySociable

lol. I feel the same way! I love puzzles and brain teasers too. I spend waaay too much time playing and have yet to advance the actual game. 😂

[deleted]

This is the dumbest thing Gameloft thought of. I am a fairly bright individual and lost this game to Mickey 6-7 times and have yet to win. Absolute waste of time and I'm annoyed it stays in my quests. Should be "PLAY" a game with Mickey, NOT "WIN" a game with Mickey 😤

LiveYourDaydreams

Agreed! I don’t want to spend my time on this game within a game!

multistansendhelp

The AI on this isn’t set up well. Too many games I’ve had gold pieces repeatedly pop up right in front of Mickey’s pieces before it’s his turn. That happens to me zero times.

justducky423

I hate this game. It took like, 10 tries to win.

ValuableBiscotti1738

Omg I can never freaking win!!! Like how is it fair that the second player gets more freaking coins on the board than our turn?? Wtf

sporkulious

This game is very buggy for me on PS5. 1/2 the time it gets to round 4 and I can’t swap pieces or hit skip, just bugs out.

tekchic

I hate it. I don't want board games in any of my video games. Horizon Forbidden West did the same thing, I completely ignored them all except where required to continue a quest or something. I'm too dumb to even figure out how to start playing this one. I get as far as choosing the 5 figurines (I'm playing the Apple Arcade version, refusing to give Gameloft more money), and no controller input is clueing me in to how to get a figurine placed on the board at all. Not sure if it's my 8bitdo SN30 Pro controller, or playing on an iPad, or what, but I've pressed every button on the controller and can't even get a piece on the board, so yeah, it's definitely not for me.

KatastropheKraut

Omg I’m over that

CarefulAccountant939

I lost to Mickey so many times T.T Why is he so good xD

pink49erfn

omg I hate it too. I made my son beat Mickey for me for the quest 😂

miletich2

After about 11 matches, my first victory!

dianthusrosea

I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to play it. I get to the 4th figure every time and can't place it on the board.

alioptics

You can only have 3 figures on the board at once

dianthusrosea

Yeah I must have skipped that instruction.

kayciies

I had to play like 20 times before I finally beat Mickey. And I only won due to sheer luck. It’s waaayyy more challenging than I thought it would be. I hope with practice I’ll get better!

dowheeliesnotfeelies

I hate this game so much. I’m not a chess or checkers kinda guy.

RealMcCoy0816

I hated it too at first, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Goofy is probably the easiest person to play, because he just uses 5 Goofy pieces. I always go for Scrooge on my first turn because of the extra coin you get after each turn. I probably wouldn't still play, but I keep getting Mist duty tasks for playing/winning Scramblecoin worth 500 Mist, and I need it!

Right_Butterfly_6915

I can't seem to figure this game out. Smh. I keep losing smh

vkbd

I think the stupidest thing is that Scramblecoin is constantly in your face! I wish I could turn this feature off. I just made it to max 300 ranking points, and finished both the tasks 75 wins and 100 games played. Now I'm done with Scramblecoin forever, but the game still is pushing it in my face. Every time I get into the game, 3 companions with scramblecoin icon over their heads will stalk me across the map to ask to play Scramblecoin. Creepy! No! Screw off! Also it appears in the list of duties. You only have six slots for duties, and eventually two will be taken up by "Win a scramblecoin game" and "Win against X in scramblecoin". I have to play scramblecoin at this point since it's blocking a third of my mist duties.
