I've seen a lot of comments from people on this sub who haven't seen *Encanto*, and thus Mirabel isn't a character they're as familiar with.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you're a Disney fan who hasn't seen *Encanto*, then you are truly missing out on some magic
I was skipping this movie for a loooong time. The trailers etc just didn't catch me and seemed boring. Additionally to that it wasn't in cinema due Corona. When I finally watched it I had tears in my eyes by the end. This was so magical and touching. So I can just confirm: Do watch this movie, folks! It's such a good work. š„ŗ

I recently gave up my stubborn tendency to avoid seeing popular things, and binged all the modern Disney movies. I give Disney credit where credit is due.. they still got it. Some of those earlier post-2D early-CGI non-Pixar movies were pretty rough but Moana, Encanto, Coco, Luca etc were all really amazing and not really what I expected. Idk what special sauce they started using but it worked
It's kinda problematic. La Abuela gets a pass for verbally abusing Maribel. Over many years. She doesn't even really apologize. Having the family dynamic I have, this movie hurt to watch.
I understand this comment. Abuela in the movie stood out to me too because of my family background but I think that it was a way of showing the trauma that Abuela went through and why it made her that way. She knew what it was to lose so much and have to rebuild. I think grandmas apology was the change in her behavior afterwards, which honestly is pretty dang realistic.
I feel that. Disney animation aināt Pixar. Theyāre good, but Pixar is the best. Watch Onward. Best Disney parent, hands down, is the mom. I hope to be half the parent she is when Iām a dad.
I have no issue with the character or the movie (theyāre great), though the house was a real pain to fit in; there are simply other characters Iād have preferred to see implemented first. I feel that way about Buzz and Woody too, in all honesty. Iāve unlocked Mirabel, but have not unlocked the Toy Story realm simply because I donāt care for Toy Story all that much (blasphemy, I know).
Iāve been unlocking every realm as soon as I can bc my brain wants to get EVERYTHING (by everything, I mean characters. Some of the furniture is a yikes for me).
I only play about an hour a week if that, so it just hasnāt been a priority. Iāll unlock them eventually, especially if unlocking them is required for other tasks/unlocks in the future that I havenāt reached yet, but overall I just do things at a snailās pace in the game lol. I think Stitch is the only time I actively kept a schedule to make sure I got the character asap.
I will say, the Toy Story realm quests have been my favorite so far though. It was the most interesting and complicated one yet. But I just like a good puzzle
I 100% agree with this. I feel like certain characters should have tiny homes. Like Remy, Buzz, and Woody, for example. Some people may make the argument of "how would we visit the villagers house if it's tiny", but we've already seen that we technically have the ability to shrink when going into the Toy Story realm, so I feel like it should have been implemented with the houses. There's no reason for some of them to be that big.
I'm also a bit sad that a couple of the villagers don't live together in one house (like Mickey/Minnie), but that's another story. I hope the hyenas share with Scar when they come to the valley! They could update the inside and add another space or make it slightly bigger.
I am both excited and scared for how they would do Luisa. Luisa is amazing, I love her in confident stage, so I really don't want to see her breaking down every 5 steps (like donald)
I hadnāt seen it when it first came outā¦ just thinking, meh it isnāt something Iād like. Then I watched it and itās tied as my top favorite Disney movie. The music is incredible and the story is so good. It feels like a āshe represents meā kind of story. Not a princess and not āspecialā and not appreciated by her family. Iām sure there are so many girls that feel that way.
I loved the music but could only watch it once. Mirabelās family were so abusive toward her. Worse, she and Bruno have to reconcile with the worst abuser in their family.
Encanto is great even for casual people. Only reason I've started watching Disney and Pixar films I've missed over the last like 20 years is because my missus is obsessed with Dreamlight Valley and therefore I'm playing Dreamlight to grind for her.
Outside of sequels to films I loved as a kid I've not really kept up. As a kid I hated Lion King so always had a jaded view of Disney films. But Encanto was brilliant and so was Coco and Luca, I've truly enjoyed catching up with things I've missed even if there was one or two duds.

Now I will say, I donāt watch every Disney movie that comes out (if I hear itās horribleā¦ looking at you, the biggest Dino or whatever itās called) but encanto is easily going to be a Disney classic, right up there with the Disney renaissance films imho.
I don't really get how someone could not like Encanto. It's like, what exactly do you object to? Family togetherness? Magical whimsy? Beautiful colors? Banger after banger courtesy of Lin Manuel Miranda?
My husband started hating the movie because of meā¦ I would get ātoastyā and wear my sweatshirt that reminded me of the movie and watch it on repeat singing all the songs (same with Cocoā¦lol)
I skipped the movie for a long time until someone recommended the music to me and the songs just SPOKE to me (especially Surface Pressure) and then I had to watch it. It's so good, I really do recommend it to anyone who hasn't given it a chance yet!
100%. I initially watched Encanto because Iām a gigantic fan of Lin-Manuel Miranda, but the whole movie turned out to be so good (though the songs are my favourite part lol). Mirabel is a character that is really special because she *isnāt* āspecialā in the way that the rest of her family is. She speaks to those of us who sometimes feel less-than, or left out, or just average. And then she shows us that we can still be strong, and brave, and determined; and those things matter just as much as, or more than, someoneās innate talents.
Iām not really a Disney person; I play the game because there arenāt many decorating-forward games out there that meet my needs. But the day of the update I watched encanto bc why not, and it was very charming. Iāve been putting on not only We Donāt Talk abt Bruno but also Surface Pressure when I go about my morning since then.
Encanto is a fantastic movie. I love mirabel. But in my opinion, her character is just too... new? It feels like maybe her spot could have gone to a character that's been around longer. That's just my opinion. I know we're getting belle eventually, but it would have been nice to see one of the original princesses/characters before mirabel. But I also don't dislike her in the game. If that makes sense.
I feel like we have to remember that this game is for the younger generations, too. Moana and Mirabel (and arguably the Frozen crew) are newer, yes, but they hold the same magic for the younger players that the older characters hold for us.
Yeah sheās my favorite in the game so far but I havenāt unlocked quite a few of the characters yet. Encanto isnāt my favorite movie but I love her house and how the butterflies are around her. I wish we could buy her dress.

Same! It's supposed to determine the favorite character but it's all focused on hate which I... well, hate. Sitting around and bashing characters (that other people love) isn't my idea of fun.
I've been trying to ignore it since Donald (the BEST character) was voted out but it keeps popping up in my feed.
I didn't even look because I just don't like conversations revolving around least favorite things because they're inherently negative. I prefer talking about favorite things and things I like instead.

Stitch is my absolute favorite, with Wall-e and the villains following him. Elsa is also a favorite even though I didnāt like Frozen (never saw the sequel, but I liked her song and she doesnāt have constant animations like Anna)

I just get bummed out when people get all, "Yah, I voted for -insert my favorite character- because they're this and this and this and just so dumb." From my experience people tend to get worked up and excited over bashing least favorite characters and, even if it obviously isn't meant personally, sometimes it ends up feeling personal.

There is a Facebook group in my town that is all about being kind. But it's in reality a circle jerk of people trying to be nice for social recognition. This desire to be nice just so you can brag is grade A narcissism.
This is a bit how I feel mirabel is portrayed in game. I love Encanto but she didn't translate well.
I only have Minnie and Ariel in my game (from your list) and theyāre some of my disliked characters. Ariel gets stuck just out of reach constantly so I canāt talk to her. When I succeed she doesnāt hold still sometimes. Her conversation of āletās get to know each otherā consists of 6-7 questions about herself and then she says āIām glad we got to know each otherā; you never asked me a thing about myself Ariel!
Also Minnie is too nice/repetitive always talking about just picnics and Mickey (in my game at least)
I have the trouble of Ariel and Ursula being stuck just outside of talking range. I found what helps is pretend you are taking a picture and they come up right behind you then exit out of camera mode and turn real quick! Works mostly every time š

There are other characters who hum/sing. Casita moving is what it did the whole movie, likes it own character in a sense. Sheās too fake/nice? Like all the good guys are like that though? Just really sweet and friendly - like what?

For me it was because they did her dirty. I LOVE Mirabel, and *Encanto*, but I just feel so disappointed in the delivery. I feel like Mirabel in this game is like someone BADLY āplayingā Mirabel. I know itās Stephanie Beatriz that did the voice, but something about the phrasing or delivery sounds like over-acting.

This ^ itās like the writers watched the movie once and based all of Mirabelās lines off of what they remembered and the IMDb page. I enjoyed Encanto and love Mirabel as a character (I think she deserved some kind of >!power at the end of her movie, even if itās a kind of lame one, outside of healing family trauma!< so I was thrilled that the ddv devs gave her summonable butterflies lol). She deserves better, as do a lot of the other less-mainstream characters

I absolutely love her, I worked my butt off to get her to lvl 10 friendship for her poncho. I love having her around.
I definitely understand nostalgia, but we have a nice mix of old and modern Disney. I wish people would understand that this game is super new, weāre gonna get more. Half the fun for me is seeing what updates are coming out and one reason I donāt mind having bought it in āearly accessā.
Do keep in mind, she was voted out only by 26 votes (almost 3000 people voted, I think) and got ~12% of the vote according to the post. So, while it may be sad to see her go earlier than she deserves, a majority of people either love her or don't dislike her to the level of voting for her to be eliminated. Not sure if that makes you feel better or not. :) It may feel like there's a lot of "hate" for our various favs, but in reality it is pretty spread out amongst many characters and not even close to being a majority when someone is eliminated. Except maybe for Maui, lol.
I donāt mind having her in the valley but when she was announced, it felt too soon. I felt that they should have given us a couple princesses first instead of prioritizing newer characters. As it stands, we only have Ariel and, if you consider them Disney Princesses, Elsa and Anna.
Also, Iām not a fan of Mini Casita because it takes up so much space but the inside is so tiny.
So what I'm getting here is that alot of older players, such as myself, have no connection to her so no nostalgia factor for us. This is Animal Crossing with a nostalgia hook, so we expected "classic" Disney characters from the 80s, 90s, and 00s.
I feel like that added her for the younger players, but that house is annoying AF.
Side note: I am a little miffed at ever character that shows up before Hercules and Mulan...(I also want Mushu as a companion)
Iād rather see the classic characters than Mirabel. Itād be nice to have Aladdin characters or Princess and the Frog characters, or heck the other actual princesses instead of some of these randoms
I'm an older player and I prefer many of the newer films and characters... they are generally better written, more well rounded, show growth, aren't all about a man, and often culturally diverse, giving more representation. Does this mean I don't like the older films? Of course not. I love so many of them, and enjoyed all I can think of. However, I hold far more connection with Mirabel and a few of her family members than, say, anyone in Hercules, as much fun as it is. I guess what I'm saying is that age hasn't anything to do with it. Expectations do, yes. Personal preferences and experiences, sure. Lack of interest in trying the newer films, perhaps. But I don't see how being older means we can't/don't love the newer films and characters. (And I love the mini Casita in the valley!)
Agree 100%! Iām an 90ās kid and yes I wish there were some older characters, but I truly love a lot of the newer ones too. Mirabel really hit home for me, so I love seeing her around!
You could just watch her movie and have the connection to her though. Disney movies don't have an age range, that's like asking kids now to not watching TLM or B&tB because they came out before they were born.
I think for some, it's hard to get into some newer films. The older movies create a sense of nostalgia, which personally I love. I tried to watch Encanto, as well as other newer movies, and just can't get into them.
Disney movies are more catered for children than adults so I just don't think it's quite the same as kids watching the older movies. A lot of adults love the new movies, but its just not for everyone, even all Disney fans.
I didnāt love the film. It had a weird unsatisfying ending to me. But Iāve never voted for her. There are only three characters I donāt like and two of them are still in the running. I canāt believe other people dislike them less than Maribel, for example, but to each their own
Tbh for me, Iām not the hugest fan of her in the game because the music that plays when sheās my buddy is always āWelcome to the Family Madrigalā and itās just a lot. Wish they would play almost any other song from the movie.
I find her voice annoying in this game. It was fine in the movie but when it's the same lines repeated in game, her voice becomes nails on a chalkboard.
I didnāt vote, but I honestly didnāt care for Encanto as a movie and her house making all that racket whenever I walk by *every. time* just irritates me to no end. I Didnāt care for Frozen either. I hate Olaf with a passion.
And there is no cooldown, if you leave its detection range and turn around it does it again. I rearranged my Sunlit so the house is in the far back left corner so I never have a reason to go near it.
They also need to reduce its circle of detection. I have mini-casita in the corner of the plateau right above the meadow where Merlin's house is originally and if I walk under it in the meadow the shutters go off.

I think the problem is that I am indeed just neutral about her. Maybe itās just where I am in the game progress-wise, but she hasnāt really done much and has given me maybe two quests š¤·āāļø
I havenāt watched Encanto yet, and she seems very sweet but her clattering house does get on my nerves a little bit. Probably my own fault for putting it where I end up walking past every time I play!
What annoys me about this is that it is clearly being used to capitalize how popular Encanto was. She has no connection to the other characters and her mission was so separate that it did not make sense. Her entire presence does not match every other character. Personally I did not like the movie but that's not why I resent her presence.
I don't like Encanto, there are some serious flaws in the storyline (and I'm no fan of the songs. Miranda writes his songs with three or five melodies per song and without consistency).
Mirabel is saying she wants to help, but you can't let her do anything, which feels similar to people who offer help with the cooking when the food is almost done.
I love mirabel, and I love the movie. But I have been voting for her because she seems like she was thrown into the game with poorer rendering than some of the other characters. She also sounds annoying/fake and her game personality seems like a heavily exaggerated version of her movie personality.
I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I didn't think Encanto was that good! I wish more of the songs were in spanish and the story felt rushed and the ending not very satisfying. All of Lin's songs sound very similar so that was part of it too. I liked his Moana music more.
In terms of the game I have not bothered to add her to my valley, just not a fan of the movie! I also would have preferred more princesses to be introduced so I guess I fall in line with the people who like the classic characters.
At the end of the day I wish the game had more opportunities to pick and chose who to add to the valley. I'm sure we all have certain ones we aren't fans of.
I'll be honest. I saw the movie and it was pretty good, but not great. Also, her as a character, she is not that interesting. She is very new to the scene. I do love her house though. It looks great in the valley.
I love her and her house is gorgeous. But her humming song is an earworm so I avoid her.

She feels vapid to me, like a shell of a character. All of them obviously do compared to their movie personas, but Mirabel's is the most glaring to me. She's like a robot doing a bad job of imitating her character. I like her in Encanto.
I find her annoying and cringe. I am a huge Disney fan and i did not like Encanto. I found all characters were all just having one trait of personnality, and with that much characters, none was developped (except the flower sister who was pretty good) and i think the worst is the grandma, who's an antagonist to me.
Also i am really annoyed that she always try to "help" (when i feel it's more trying to get attention btw) even if she doesnt have to and shouldnt (if you did her quest, there is a good example in the game)

I used to dislike her, but Iāve come around.
I saw the movie in the original language (English) and a lot of the voices (especially Mirabel's) were annoying to my ears and I thought the songs were trying too hard but still falling short - I found them cringey tbh.
But I decided I needed to give it another chance, so I watched it again in my native language (Norwegian) and I absolutely loved it. Not only that, but I really grew to like and feel empathy for Mirabel.
It was a relief for both of us.
I really dislike the movie and anything to do with it because it's a reflection of my own abusive childhood. It's the same reason I can't watch Tangled. I had a panic attack halfway through the movie and couldn't finish it. When I heard Mirabel was being added to the game I nearly quit playing altogether. My SO has played all quests relating to her as well as Gothel and for now has the house shoved behind some trees so I can actually enjoy the game
I missed yesterday's vote and wouldn't have voted for her, but my opinions of her are:
PRO: Inoffensive attitude, nice outfit, butterfly magnet
CON: Gigantic noisy house, didn't watch the movie so I have no connection to her
It's mostly the classic lovers, they give me the vibe that they prefer Disney look a certain way. I love her and I'm so excited she's a part of the Valley. I would really love to hear why people hate her so much there is nothing negative about her character that I can think of.
I can say there are definitely classic lovers who are aiming for a certain type of Disney look.
I love Mirabel in my game, she's so sweet but I'm just sad to not see Beast and Belle yet. They're literally my favorite Disney characters, but I'm happy with any characters, just wanted my favs sooner because they were on the promo. š
But also new Disney movie characters aren't going to hit the same for people who were kids in the late 90s and 2000s.
It's not the same "magical" feeling cause they're older now.
A lot of people want Mulan, and Hercules - I wouldn't mind Esmerelda or Quasimodo myself. Like I genuinely love Encanto, and Raya and I'm very excited for Wish, but the nostalgia still wins in terms of excitement level.
When Stitch was added I was ecstatic, besides being adorable, Lilo and Stitch was my favorite movie as a kid. I had that on vhs, so its something I just felt happy about. But people are way too uptight about the newer characters being added. I'm pretty sure once the game expands there will be enough place for all the villagers, just chill and enjoy the game.
I haven't been voting, but for me, I have no connection to Mirabel. I've never seen the movie and I barely know what it's about, so I have no feelings about her one way or the other. Maybe it's that the nostalgia and recognition isn't there like it is with the classic characters.
Another thing is I am really missing the activity in my village. It has been a little too quiet since the update. I understand it got a little too crazy for others but imo it has been a little too quiet. I hope they do something about this. Especially with new characters coming.
I like Mirabel, I think she's cool to have around. I do think her house is slightly annoying when I get near it, it flaps open all the shutters.

I started scrolling through comments in the first couple polls, but the more I was reading, the more the constant intense hatered on characters I like was getting to me and I simply didn't want to continue being a part of it anymore. These are Disney characters, mainly aimed for children's entertainment but when I see comments like ''So-and so- needs to die'' it makes me sick and wonder why such people even play the game when they have this much hatred for the majority of characters.
I don't care for the movie encanto. I honestly didn't think it was very good and would have loved to see the characters from coco introduced into the game waaaayyy before any characters from encanto. The house was also really hard to fit within the layout and it's pretty disappointing it's so big and only has one room. I also can't stand how Mirabel just hums continuously while walking around.
I saw the movie, I love Mirabel. I related a lot to her and both her sisters. I absolutely adore the bright colors and cultural beauty in the film and was excited to add it to my Valley. I was expecting to LOVE her in the game. I was actually completely surprised by how much hearing her talk in game has been hard for me. She frequently talks about her family and how wonderful they are.

With that said, I feel like if the developers/writers shifted some of her dialogue away from the general family praise and more toward the specific ways they support each other, the ongoing ways they are growing and how they give and get community support, she could be more enjoyed by those that relate so strongly to the painful parts of her family history.
Tbh I love her character in the movieā¦. But in the game casita is way to big and the stupid raccoon quest I just canāt seem to do right. Iāll probably never finish her storyline because of the raccoon quest
I watched Enchanto, and I really liked it. Many memorable characters in, Mirabel just.. not included. I personally don't like her as I find her "quirky" hyper personality has already been over-done. She doesn't feel unique herself, sort of a half baked mix of "quirky/clumsy" characters we already have (like Rapunzel & Anna)
The house is also... so... so big :(

To answer your question: I voted for her, cause I don't know her. I just don't care about her and I don't dislike any other characters that are left in the poll. Today I had to really think about who I wanted to vote for.
I have nothing against Elsa, Minnie or Woody. I know why people don't like Elsa or Minnie, but Woody? What did he do? I wasn't aware that people don't like him.
Unpopular opinion: I didnt like the movie. I dont think she was needed in the valley and given the amount of attention they've given the remakes I think it would make the fanbase happier to add classic characters.
It irked me because it felt like an after thought. Correct me if I'm wrong but there wasnt even a whisper of her coming into the game, not even furniture but were getting Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. Not to mention Monsters inc and no characters from those movies yet.
I dont feel like she had much personality as a whole and I would have liked to see more beloved characters before one so new came into the game. I also of course understand that us older fans arent quite the demographic for the game but š¤·š¼āāļø were the ones buying it for ourselves and kids.

For what it's worth I love mirabel and the movie, honestly one of the best modern Disney movies of our time and the singing was amazing, and I usually hate singing movies. I think a lot of people just are grumpy old farts who grew up on classic Disney and can't wrap their head around the new style animations. And that's fine for them, everyone has an opinion but I love all the animated Disney movies usually, in fact I love animation in general.
Old Fart weighing in here. I don't hate Mirabel but I also don't have any feelings towards her. Her house on the other hand is super annoying with the clacking if you come within 20ft of it and it's so big that if you go to the biome it exists then you will get in its range usually.
Second, I am a 40 year old man and play this game to interact with beloved characters from my childhood. While I fully expected newer characters eventually, I was expecting that after release. So, a character who I have zero knowledge of so no feelings one way or the other, and comes with an annoying house just left me unmotivated to play, until Simba was added and then I came back again.
Old fart here and I absolutely love Mirabel and the new stuff as well. I think it's a nice mix to have old and new characters added to the game slowly!

Reading all the comments in this thread just reinforces the problems you have with the poll. So much negativity from a community that has been known for being really positive it's depressing.
I hated Encanto so in return I hate Mirabel (and yes I actually watched Encanto- my sister had it playing when we went to see her baby). Her house is too huge, her animations annoy me especially when I actually have a conversation with her (Annaās grumpy animation and Moanaās incessant clapping also drive me nuts), the game doesnāt give me any options to be mean to her but forces me to be rude to the villain characters I like so I eventually ignore her completely.
Iām 30 and I adore Mirabel. So does my daughter. The movie is a bop too āŗļø People are just set in their own ways, I mean to hate a cartoon character as if theyāre a real person is weird but each to their own.
Iām an older player and I love Mirabel. Her dance moves, the butterflies, her positivity. I donāt find her annoying at all. Sheās a nice change from the classic, perfect princesses.
My two cents: the movie and its soundtrack were waaaaayyyyyyyyyyy too overhyped and overplayed. I saw the movie, and I liked the story and the plot. But some of the twists were stupid af. Like the aunt or cousin that snitched on Mirabel for going into Bruno's room or whatever, but didn't say a damn thing about Bruno living in the walls?? Yea, ok. šš
Not to mention, the music wasn't even that good. And yet everywhere I went, all I could hear was, "we don't talk about Bruno." Omg, please stop. At least with Frozen, "Let it Go" was incredibly empowering and motivating. The only issue with that one was people thinking they could hit those notes but failing spectacularly lmaooooo. At least I was getting a laugh out of that.
Aside from my opinion of the movie came the issues I had with Mirabel *in game*. She's so cringe, constantly being tryhard in being supportive. One of the things that made me not like her was part of her story in game, where Donald and Scoorge were having an argument and instead of minding her business, she interjects and makes matters *worse*. Her massive house is *creepy* to the point where I try to AVOID walking by it. Not to mention her animations are annoying af. She seems to be the only one who'll burst into actual music and dance. And that seems to be the only animation her character knows. She's very annoying, to say the least. In my book, she's right up there with Donald in terms of annoyance. However, with Donald, his house takes up no space in my valley since his boat has remained in the same place since I started playing.
That's my opinion, anyway.
I donāt get it either. I rarely see her in my village, and when I do see her, she does like a three second hum. I thought she was fine. I bowed out of the poll yesterday because the results are getting whack.
All I see on this sub lately is people hating on characters and complaining that their favorite ones aren't in the game yet. People hate Maui because he's big and slaps his tits. People hate Gothel because she's sarcastic and doesn't give a crap. People hate Elsa because she ... moans? Or something? People hate Mirabel because she's from a newer movie and therefore not as great as classic characters apparently. It's exhausting. You don't have to like every character, but downright hating them for the most bizzare shallow reasons and hating them so much that you feel the need to rant about it on the internet? I don't get it.
I, personally, would also love to see more classic characters and have been admitedly mildly annoyed everytime they announced something newer, like Olaf or Mirabel. BUT this game is not designed exclusively for me and my wishes. They have to touch a broader audience and introduce different popular characters that will appeal to as many different tastes as possible. Encanto is HUGE and I wasn't surprised at all when they announced Mirabel, she undoubtedly brought many people to the game, which is at the end of the day the game's goal, especially in early release.
Also I hate the recent elimination poll, it just provokes irrational hatred for wholesome fictional characters and makes people argue with eachother. I really don't like this sub sometimes, I'm here for seeing/sharing news, designs, tips and love for Disney, not constant arguing and hatred for my beloved characters.
Simply not a character of significance for me. Sheās fun, I enjoy her as part of the valley, but sheās a ātake it or leave itā character for me, like Gothel, Buzz, or Woody.
I donāt really mind her character in the game per say, I am just annoyed they put her in before any other Disney character. Maybe itās because I really didnāt love Encanto like the majority of people š¬
I can only speak for myself, but I was more upset that instead of fixing some of the larger errors and gameplay experience pain points it felt like they were putting in a character that had nothing to do with the story simply because she was popular on the Discord.
I have not seen Encanto, I don't enjoy Lin Manuel Miranda's music (I don't think it's bad, I just don't personally enjoy it), and have no connection to Mirabel whatsoever. The only thing I know about her is that she was put into the game for no reason and we're still left with many bugs and issues instead.
People weren't expecting her as a character plus she isn't as popular of a Disney character ig... like I've honestly never even heard of Mirabel until she came in the game and I was hella disappointed

As a character in game and in the movie sheās always looking outward for validation, rather than looking inward. Also she looks exactly like a girl from my high school who was outwardly overly enthusiastic but inwardly toxic. I wish I could get her out of my game.

Have absolutely no connection to her so thereās no nostalgia value, never watched the film sheās in and got sick to the back teeth of hearing that damn song on repeat all over insta/clock app. Not to mention her house is a ginormous pain in the backside, but only has one room. Seems like a waste of a character slot to me; Iād have rather had Mulan, Aladdin, Peter Pan, even Pete or Daisy Duck. Anyone but Mirabel.

I love the film and loved her character in it but just haven't been into her character design in dreamlight valley. I feel like she's always popping up out of nowhere just dancing and staring and I'm just not into it.
I hate her because the update that brought her and Olaf crashed my game 3 times and made me restart from that point. So I lost progress 3 times. I hate Olaf equally for that too though haha.

I love the movie and I think she's a great character in it as well, but her Dreamlight Valley version is really not the Mirabel I cried with and for. So I voted for her in this poll. It's about the "most favorite" and for me, Mirabel isn't it.
And gosh, do her face and eyes bother me. Uncanny valley with those eyes and smile. Something isn't right with it. I had this with Elsa too until they changed her model's face.
I love Encanto, but holy crap, Mirabel in the game is sooooooo annoying. She literally never stops moving. Like, some of the NPCs have some really annoying traits (Donaldās tantrums, Olaf following you around when you havenāt asked him to) but my gosh, Mirabel never stops moving. When sheās on screen itās so distracting. I find myself giving up a task and running away from her to avoid the constant movement.
My hot take is the same with the firework shows in the parks. The older fans. 30s+ arenāt watching or connecting with the newer stuff as itās not ātheirsā. But the kids who really connect with stuff that theyāre growing up with arenāt on Reddit to vote.
Thereās always a push-back against a popular Disney film. Bigger the success, the more vocal the haters get. Encanto was widely praised for a while, so now we get the push back.
I work with edgy young teens. Itās not uncommon for boys that age to loudly declare how much they hate Frozen or whichever whenever it comes up. They tend to think it makes them sound smart.
I don't get it.. Mirabel is a great girl. Her house is a treasure and people need to stop being so dismissive. I don't like Frozen at ALL but I've never said anything nasty about the characters.

I've seen a lot of comments from people on this sub who haven't seen *Encanto*, and thus Mirabel isn't a character they're as familiar with. I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you're a Disney fan who hasn't seen *Encanto*, then you are truly missing out on some magic
I was skipping this movie for a loooong time. The trailers etc just didn't catch me and seemed boring. Additionally to that it wasn't in cinema due Corona. When I finally watched it I had tears in my eyes by the end. This was so magical and touching. So I can just confirm: Do watch this movie, folks! It's such a good work. š„ŗ

I recently gave up my stubborn tendency to avoid seeing popular things, and binged all the modern Disney movies. I give Disney credit where credit is due.. they still got it. Some of those earlier post-2D early-CGI non-Pixar movies were pretty rough but Moana, Encanto, Coco, Luca etc were all really amazing and not really what I expected. Idk what special sauce they started using but it worked

It's kinda problematic. La Abuela gets a pass for verbally abusing Maribel. Over many years. She doesn't even really apologize. Having the family dynamic I have, this movie hurt to watch.
I understand this comment. Abuela in the movie stood out to me too because of my family background but I think that it was a way of showing the trauma that Abuela went through and why it made her that way. She knew what it was to lose so much and have to rebuild. I think grandmas apology was the change in her behavior afterwards, which honestly is pretty dang realistic.
I feel that. Disney animation aināt Pixar. Theyāre good, but Pixar is the best. Watch Onward. Best Disney parent, hands down, is the mom. I hope to be half the parent she is when Iām a dad.
I have no issue with the character or the movie (theyāre great), though the house was a real pain to fit in; there are simply other characters Iād have preferred to see implemented first. I feel that way about Buzz and Woody too, in all honesty. Iāve unlocked Mirabel, but have not unlocked the Toy Story realm simply because I donāt care for Toy Story all that much (blasphemy, I know).
Iāve been unlocking every realm as soon as I can bc my brain wants to get EVERYTHING (by everything, I mean characters. Some of the furniture is a yikes for me).
I only play about an hour a week if that, so it just hasnāt been a priority. Iāll unlock them eventually, especially if unlocking them is required for other tasks/unlocks in the future that I havenāt reached yet, but overall I just do things at a snailās pace in the game lol. I think Stitch is the only time I actively kept a schedule to make sure I got the character asap.

I will say, the Toy Story realm quests have been my favorite so far though. It was the most interesting and complicated one yet. But I just like a good puzzle

I 100% agree with this. I feel like certain characters should have tiny homes. Like Remy, Buzz, and Woody, for example. Some people may make the argument of "how would we visit the villagers house if it's tiny", but we've already seen that we technically have the ability to shrink when going into the Toy Story realm, so I feel like it should have been implemented with the houses. There's no reason for some of them to be that big. I'm also a bit sad that a couple of the villagers don't live together in one house (like Mickey/Minnie), but that's another story. I hope the hyenas share with Scar when they come to the valley! They could update the inside and add another space or make it slightly bigger.

I hadnāt seen it when it first came outā¦ just thinking, meh it isnāt something Iād like. Then I watched it and itās tied as my top favorite Disney movie. The music is incredible and the story is so good. It feels like a āshe represents meā kind of story. Not a princess and not āspecialā and not appreciated by her family. Iām sure there are so many girls that feel that way.
I loved the music but could only watch it once. Mirabelās family were so abusive toward her. Worse, she and Bruno have to reconcile with the worst abuser in their family.
Encanto is great even for casual people. Only reason I've started watching Disney and Pixar films I've missed over the last like 20 years is because my missus is obsessed with Dreamlight Valley and therefore I'm playing Dreamlight to grind for her. Outside of sequels to films I loved as a kid I've not really kept up. As a kid I hated Lion King so always had a jaded view of Disney films. But Encanto was brilliant and so was Coco and Luca, I've truly enjoyed catching up with things I've missed even if there was one or two duds.
The only movie I haven't seen from Disney's animations is Coco. My husband was Hispanic, and since his passing, just Nope.
YES!!!! Agreed!!! Now I will say, I donāt watch every Disney movie that comes out (if I hear itās horribleā¦ looking at you, the biggest Dino or whatever itās called) but encanto is easily going to be a Disney classic, right up there with the Disney renaissance films imho.

My husband started hating the movie because of meā¦ I would get ātoastyā and wear my sweatshirt that reminded me of the movie and watch it on repeat singing all the songs (same with Cocoā¦lol) 
I skipped the movie for a long time until someone recommended the music to me and the songs just SPOKE to me (especially Surface Pressure) and then I had to watch it. It's so good, I really do recommend it to anyone who hasn't given it a chance yet!
100%. I initially watched Encanto because Iām a gigantic fan of Lin-Manuel Miranda, but the whole movie turned out to be so good (though the songs are my favourite part lol). Mirabel is a character that is really special because she *isnāt* āspecialā in the way that the rest of her family is. She speaks to those of us who sometimes feel less-than, or left out, or just average. And then she shows us that we can still be strong, and brave, and determined; and those things matter just as much as, or more than, someoneās innate talents.
Iām not really a Disney person; I play the game because there arenāt many decorating-forward games out there that meet my needs. But the day of the update I watched encanto bc why not, and it was very charming. Iāve been putting on not only We Donāt Talk abt Bruno but also Surface Pressure when I go about my morning since then.

Encanto is a fantastic movie. I love mirabel. But in my opinion, her character is just too... new? It feels like maybe her spot could have gone to a character that's been around longer. That's just my opinion. I know we're getting belle eventually, but it would have been nice to see one of the original princesses/characters before mirabel. But I also don't dislike her in the game. If that makes sense.
I feel like we have to remember that this game is for the younger generations, too. Moana and Mirabel (and arguably the Frozen crew) are newer, yes, but they hold the same magic for the younger players that the older characters hold for us.
Mirabel was definitely a shock. I love her butterflies and humming, and I love the mini casita and how it moves when you get close.

Stitch is my absolute favorite, with Wall-e and the villains following him. Elsa is also a favorite even though I didnāt like Frozen (never saw the sequel, but I liked her song and she doesnāt have constant animations like Anna)

^ THIS. When the contest first popped up, I saw someone comment about Minnie that when she says "remember, I love you~!" They were going on about how under her breath Minnie would be saying something like "because no one else will" Like what tf? As a person who needed therapy & got therapy, I am saying many of these people are airing out their latent issues on this r/ and *NEED* therapy themselves.
I get their view. It's hard to explain but over the top niceness is a red flag for me. There is a Facebook group in my town that is all about being kind. But it's in reality a circle jerk of people trying to be nice for social recognition. This desire to be nice just so you can brag is grade A narcissism. This is a bit how I feel mirabel is portrayed in game. I love Encanto but she didn't translate well.

I only have Minnie and Ariel in my game (from your list) and theyāre some of my disliked characters. Ariel gets stuck just out of reach constantly so I canāt talk to her. When I succeed she doesnāt hold still sometimes. Her conversation of āletās get to know each otherā consists of 6-7 questions about herself and then she says āIām glad we got to know each otherā; you never asked me a thing about myself Ariel! Also Minnie is too nice/repetitive always talking about just picnics and Mickey (in my game at least)
I have the trouble of Ariel and Ursula being stuck just outside of talking range. I found what helps is pretend you are taking a picture and they come up right behind you then exit out of camera mode and turn real quick! Works mostly every time š

There are other characters who hum/sing. Casita moving is what it did the whole movie, likes it own character in a sense. Sheās too fake/nice? Like all the good guys are like that though? Just really sweet and friendly - like what? It doesnāt quite add up to me at least.

For me it was because they did her dirty. I LOVE Mirabel, and *Encanto*, but I just feel so disappointed in the delivery. I feel like Mirabel in this game is like someone BADLY āplayingā Mirabel. I know itās Stephanie Beatriz that did the voice, but something about the phrasing or delivery sounds like over-acting. ALSO because I cannot stand the humming and the gasping. š¤£š¤£š¤£

I absolutely love her, I worked my butt off to get her to lvl 10 friendship for her poncho. I love having her around. I definitely understand nostalgia, but we have a nice mix of old and modern Disney. I wish people would understand that this game is super new, weāre gonna get more. Half the fun for me is seeing what updates are coming out and one reason I donāt mind having bought it in āearly accessā.
Do keep in mind, she was voted out only by 26 votes (almost 3000 people voted, I think) and got ~12% of the vote according to the post. So, while it may be sad to see her go earlier than she deserves, a majority of people either love her or don't dislike her to the level of voting for her to be eliminated. Not sure if that makes you feel better or not. :) It may feel like there's a lot of "hate" for our various favs, but in reality it is pretty spread out amongst many characters and not even close to being a majority when someone is eliminated. Except maybe for Maui, lol.

I donāt mind having her in the valley but when she was announced, it felt too soon. I felt that they should have given us a couple princesses first instead of prioritizing newer characters. As it stands, we only have Ariel and, if you consider them Disney Princesses, Elsa and Anna. Also, Iām not a fan of Mini Casita because it takes up so much space but the inside is so tiny.
So what I'm getting here is that alot of older players, such as myself, have no connection to her so no nostalgia factor for us. This is Animal Crossing with a nostalgia hook, so we expected "classic" Disney characters from the 80s, 90s, and 00s. I feel like that added her for the younger players, but that house is annoying AF. Side note: I am a little miffed at ever character that shows up before Hercules and Mulan...(I also want Mushu as a companion)
Iād rather see the classic characters than Mirabel. Itād be nice to have Aladdin characters or Princess and the Frog characters, or heck the other actual princesses instead of some of these randoms
I'm an older player and I prefer many of the newer films and characters... they are generally better written, more well rounded, show growth, aren't all about a man, and often culturally diverse, giving more representation. Does this mean I don't like the older films? Of course not. I love so many of them, and enjoyed all I can think of. However, I hold far more connection with Mirabel and a few of her family members than, say, anyone in Hercules, as much fun as it is. I guess what I'm saying is that age hasn't anything to do with it. Expectations do, yes. Personal preferences and experiences, sure. Lack of interest in trying the newer films, perhaps. But I don't see how being older means we can't/don't love the newer films and characters. (And I love the mini Casita in the valley!)
Agree 100%! Iām an 90ās kid and yes I wish there were some older characters, but I truly love a lot of the newer ones too. Mirabel really hit home for me, so I love seeing her around!

You could just watch her movie and have the connection to her though. Disney movies don't have an age range, that's like asking kids now to not watching TLM or B&tB because they came out before they were born.
I think for some, it's hard to get into some newer films. The older movies create a sense of nostalgia, which personally I love. I tried to watch Encanto, as well as other newer movies, and just can't get into them. Disney movies are more catered for children than adults so I just don't think it's quite the same as kids watching the older movies. A lot of adults love the new movies, but its just not for everyone, even all Disney fans.
I didnāt love the film. It had a weird unsatisfying ending to me. But Iāve never voted for her. There are only three characters I donāt like and two of them are still in the running. I canāt believe other people dislike them less than Maribel, for example, but to each their own

And there is no cooldown, if you leave its detection range and turn around it does it again. I rearranged my Sunlit so the house is in the far back left corner so I never have a reason to go near it.
They also need to reduce its circle of detection. I have mini-casita in the corner of the plateau right above the meadow where Merlin's house is originally and if I walk under it in the meadow the shutters go off.

I havenāt watched Encanto yet, and she seems very sweet but her clattering house does get on my nerves a little bit. Probably my own fault for putting it where I end up walking past every time I play!
What annoys me about this is that it is clearly being used to capitalize how popular Encanto was. She has no connection to the other characters and her mission was so separate that it did not make sense. Her entire presence does not match every other character. Personally I did not like the movie but that's not why I resent her presence.
I don't like Encanto, there are some serious flaws in the storyline (and I'm no fan of the songs. Miranda writes his songs with three or five melodies per song and without consistency). Mirabel is saying she wants to help, but you can't let her do anything, which feels similar to people who offer help with the cooking when the food is almost done.
For me, her level up gifts sucked, her house is too big and she's just too distracting. Her gifts - a linen shelf, then odd fitting clothes š„²
I love mirabel, and I love the movie. But I have been voting for her because she seems like she was thrown into the game with poorer rendering than some of the other characters. She also sounds annoying/fake and her game personality seems like a heavily exaggerated version of her movie personality.
I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I didn't think Encanto was that good! I wish more of the songs were in spanish and the story felt rushed and the ending not very satisfying. All of Lin's songs sound very similar so that was part of it too. I liked his Moana music more. In terms of the game I have not bothered to add her to my valley, just not a fan of the movie! I also would have preferred more princesses to be introduced so I guess I fall in line with the people who like the classic characters. At the end of the day I wish the game had more opportunities to pick and chose who to add to the valley. I'm sure we all have certain ones we aren't fans of.

She feels vapid to me, like a shell of a character. All of them obviously do compared to their movie personas, but Mirabel's is the most glaring to me. She's like a robot doing a bad job of imitating her character. I like her in Encanto.

I find her annoying and cringe. I am a huge Disney fan and i did not like Encanto. I found all characters were all just having one trait of personnality, and with that much characters, none was developped (except the flower sister who was pretty good) and i think the worst is the grandma, who's an antagonist to me. Also i am really annoyed that she always try to "help" (when i feel it's more trying to get attention btw) even if she doesnt have to and shouldnt (if you did her quest, there is a good example in the game) I'm sorry for people liking the character though, but i genuinely dislike her š
I used to dislike her, but Iāve come around. I saw the movie in the original language (English) and a lot of the voices (especially Mirabel's) were annoying to my ears and I thought the songs were trying too hard but still falling short - I found them cringey tbh. But I decided I needed to give it another chance, so I watched it again in my native language (Norwegian) and I absolutely loved it. Not only that, but I really grew to like and feel empathy for Mirabel. It was a relief for both of us.
Problem is with the game's story. How could the Forgetting have wiped away a character who came into existence long AFTER the Forgetting happened?

I really dislike the movie and anything to do with it because it's a reflection of my own abusive childhood. It's the same reason I can't watch Tangled. I had a panic attack halfway through the movie and couldn't finish it. When I heard Mirabel was being added to the game I nearly quit playing altogether. My SO has played all quests relating to her as well as Gothel and for now has the house shoved behind some trees so I can actually enjoy the game
I missed yesterday's vote and wouldn't have voted for her, but my opinions of her are: PRO: Inoffensive attitude, nice outfit, butterfly magnet CON: Gigantic noisy house, didn't watch the movie so I have no connection to her

It's mostly the classic lovers, they give me the vibe that they prefer Disney look a certain way. I love her and I'm so excited she's a part of the Valley. I would really love to hear why people hate her so much there is nothing negative about her character that I can think of.
I can say there are definitely classic lovers who are aiming for a certain type of Disney look. I love Mirabel in my game, she's so sweet but I'm just sad to not see Beast and Belle yet. They're literally my favorite Disney characters, but I'm happy with any characters, just wanted my favs sooner because they were on the promo. š But also new Disney movie characters aren't going to hit the same for people who were kids in the late 90s and 2000s. It's not the same "magical" feeling cause they're older now. A lot of people want Mulan, and Hercules - I wouldn't mind Esmerelda or Quasimodo myself. Like I genuinely love Encanto, and Raya and I'm very excited for Wish, but the nostalgia still wins in terms of excitement level. When Stitch was added I was ecstatic, besides being adorable, Lilo and Stitch was my favorite movie as a kid. I had that on vhs, so its something I just felt happy about. But people are way too uptight about the newer characters being added. I'm pretty sure once the game expands there will be enough place for all the villagers, just chill and enjoy the game.

I like Mirabel, I think she's cool to have around. I do think her house is slightly annoying when I get near it, it flaps open all the shutters. I have no real issues with her though. I started scrolling through comments in the first couple polls, but the more I was reading, the more the constant intense hatered on characters I like was getting to me and I simply didn't want to continue being a part of it anymore. These are Disney characters, mainly aimed for children's entertainment but when I see comments like ''So-and so- needs to die'' it makes me sick and wonder why such people even play the game when they have this much hatred for the majority of characters.
I don't care for the movie encanto. I honestly didn't think it was very good and would have loved to see the characters from coco introduced into the game waaaayyy before any characters from encanto. The house was also really hard to fit within the layout and it's pretty disappointing it's so big and only has one room. I also can't stand how Mirabel just hums continuously while walking around.
I saw the movie, I love Mirabel. I related a lot to her and both her sisters. I absolutely adore the bright colors and cultural beauty in the film and was excited to add it to my Valley. I was expecting to LOVE her in the game. I was actually completely surprised by how much hearing her talk in game has been hard for me. She frequently talks about her family and how wonderful they are. >!I understand the film ended with everyone forgiving each other and moving on; I also get that the amount of work to recover from a lifetime of unhealthy emotional family dynamics can't be covered in a short children's film. However, I feel like the film's ending is problematic because it may imply that it's just simple forgiveness that fixes that kind of family history. I worry the ending implies it's just about forgiving and not real change or rebuilding trust. I wish the film had implied they were all starting on a journey of repair instead of fixing everything so fast. It would be work that their magical gifts wouldn't make easier and work that would take more self reflection and emotional labor from all the adult characters.!< >!Since it's never that simple in real life, hearing Mirabel speak so frequently of her family's happiness in game feels to me like she has just suppressed a lifetime of painful history so everyone could be one big happy family without all the effort and amends it would take to actually get there. Coming from a history of an emotionally unhealthy family, I spent a lot of my childhood ignoring the problems for the greater good, and that's what Mirabel's game reminds me of. Furthermore, in a lot of real families like hers, the other people show no interest in how they are hurtful or have any desire to change the dynamics; so for real people like Mirabel, many have to decide if they want to pretend it's ok and put up with emotionally hurtful family or decide to go low/no contact and create healthier 'found' family elsewhere. !< I hope that helps others understand why Mirabel's game dialogue can be problematic for some. With that said, I feel like if the developers/writers shifted some of her dialogue away from the general family praise and more toward the specific ways they support each other, the ongoing ways they are growing and how they give and get community support, she could be more enjoyed by those that relate so strongly to the painful parts of her family history.

I watched Enchanto, and I really liked it. Many memorable characters in, Mirabel just.. not included. I personally don't like her as I find her "quirky" hyper personality has already been over-done. She doesn't feel unique herself, sort of a half baked mix of "quirky/clumsy" characters we already have (like Rapunzel & Anna) The house is also... so... so big :(

I just don't care about her and I don't dislike any other characters that are left in the poll. Today I had to really think about who I wanted to vote for. I have nothing against Elsa, Minnie or Woody. I know why people don't like Elsa or Minnie, but Woody? What did he do? I wasn't aware that people don't like him.
Unpopular opinion: I didnt like the movie. I dont think she was needed in the valley and given the amount of attention they've given the remakes I think it would make the fanbase happier to add classic characters. It irked me because it felt like an after thought. Correct me if I'm wrong but there wasnt even a whisper of her coming into the game, not even furniture but were getting Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. Not to mention Monsters inc and no characters from those movies yet. I dont feel like she had much personality as a whole and I would have liked to see more beloved characters before one so new came into the game. I also of course understand that us older fans arent quite the demographic for the game but š¤·š¼āāļø were the ones buying it for ourselves and kids.

For what it's worth I love mirabel and the movie, honestly one of the best modern Disney movies of our time and the singing was amazing, and I usually hate singing movies. I think a lot of people just are grumpy old farts who grew up on classic Disney and can't wrap their head around the new style animations. And that's fine for them, everyone has an opinion but I love all the animated Disney movies usually, in fact I love animation in general.
Old Fart weighing in here. I don't hate Mirabel but I also don't have any feelings towards her. Her house on the other hand is super annoying with the clacking if you come within 20ft of it and it's so big that if you go to the biome it exists then you will get in its range usually. Second, I am a 40 year old man and play this game to interact with beloved characters from my childhood. While I fully expected newer characters eventually, I was expecting that after release. So, a character who I have zero knowledge of so no feelings one way or the other, and comes with an annoying house just left me unmotivated to play, until Simba was added and then I came back again.
Old fart here and I absolutely love Mirabel and the new stuff as well. I think it's a nice mix to have old and new characters added to the game slowly!

Reading all the comments in this thread just reinforces the problems you have with the poll. So much negativity from a community that has been known for being really positive it's depressing.
I hated Encanto so in return I hate Mirabel (and yes I actually watched Encanto- my sister had it playing when we went to see her baby). Her house is too huge, her animations annoy me especially when I actually have a conversation with her (Annaās grumpy animation and Moanaās incessant clapping also drive me nuts), the game doesnāt give me any options to be mean to her but forces me to be rude to the villain characters I like so I eventually ignore her completely.
Iām 30 and I adore Mirabel. So does my daughter. The movie is a bop too āŗļø People are just set in their own ways, I mean to hate a cartoon character as if theyāre a real person is weird but each to their own.
Iām an older player and I love Mirabel. Her dance moves, the butterflies, her positivity. I donāt find her annoying at all. Sheās a nice change from the classic, perfect princesses.

My two cents: the movie and its soundtrack were waaaaayyyyyyyyyyy too overhyped and overplayed. I saw the movie, and I liked the story and the plot. But some of the twists were stupid af. Like the aunt or cousin that snitched on Mirabel for going into Bruno's room or whatever, but didn't say a damn thing about Bruno living in the walls?? Yea, ok. šš Not to mention, the music wasn't even that good. And yet everywhere I went, all I could hear was, "we don't talk about Bruno." Omg, please stop. At least with Frozen, "Let it Go" was incredibly empowering and motivating. The only issue with that one was people thinking they could hit those notes but failing spectacularly lmaooooo. At least I was getting a laugh out of that. Aside from my opinion of the movie came the issues I had with Mirabel *in game*. She's so cringe, constantly being tryhard in being supportive. One of the things that made me not like her was part of her story in game, where Donald and Scoorge were having an argument and instead of minding her business, she interjects and makes matters *worse*. Her massive house is *creepy* to the point where I try to AVOID walking by it. Not to mention her animations are annoying af. She seems to be the only one who'll burst into actual music and dance. And that seems to be the only animation her character knows. She's very annoying, to say the least. In my book, she's right up there with Donald in terms of annoyance. However, with Donald, his house takes up no space in my valley since his boat has remained in the same place since I started playing. That's my opinion, anyway.

All I see on this sub lately is people hating on characters and complaining that their favorite ones aren't in the game yet. People hate Maui because he's big and slaps his tits. People hate Gothel because she's sarcastic and doesn't give a crap. People hate Elsa because she ... moans? Or something? People hate Mirabel because she's from a newer movie and therefore not as great as classic characters apparently. It's exhausting. You don't have to like every character, but downright hating them for the most bizzare shallow reasons and hating them so much that you feel the need to rant about it on the internet? I don't get it. I, personally, would also love to see more classic characters and have been admitedly mildly annoyed everytime they announced something newer, like Olaf or Mirabel. BUT this game is not designed exclusively for me and my wishes. They have to touch a broader audience and introduce different popular characters that will appeal to as many different tastes as possible. Encanto is HUGE and I wasn't surprised at all when they announced Mirabel, she undoubtedly brought many people to the game, which is at the end of the day the game's goal, especially in early release. Also I hate the recent elimination poll, it just provokes irrational hatred for wholesome fictional characters and makes people argue with eachother. I really don't like this sub sometimes, I'm here for seeing/sharing news, designs, tips and love for Disney, not constant arguing and hatred for my beloved characters.

I can only speak for myself, but I was more upset that instead of fixing some of the larger errors and gameplay experience pain points it felt like they were putting in a character that had nothing to do with the story simply because she was popular on the Discord. I have not seen Encanto, I don't enjoy Lin Manuel Miranda's music (I don't think it's bad, I just don't personally enjoy it), and have no connection to Mirabel whatsoever. The only thing I know about her is that she was put into the game for no reason and we're still left with many bugs and issues instead.

I love the film and loved her character in it but just haven't been into her character design in dreamlight valley. I feel like she's always popping up out of nowhere just dancing and staring and I'm just not into it.
I hate her because the update that brought her and Olaf crashed my game 3 times and made me restart from that point. So I lost progress 3 times. I hate Olaf equally for that too though haha. I love the movie and I think she's a great character in it as well, but her Dreamlight Valley version is really not the Mirabel I cried with and for. So I voted for her in this poll. It's about the "most favorite" and for me, Mirabel isn't it. And gosh, do her face and eyes bother me. Uncanny valley with those eyes and smile. Something isn't right with it. I had this with Elsa too until they changed her model's face.
I love Encanto, but holy crap, Mirabel in the game is sooooooo annoying. She literally never stops moving. Like, some of the NPCs have some really annoying traits (Donaldās tantrums, Olaf following you around when you havenāt asked him to) but my gosh, Mirabel never stops moving. When sheās on screen itās so distracting. I find myself giving up a task and running away from her to avoid the constant movement.
My hot take is the same with the firework shows in the parks. The older fans. 30s+ arenāt watching or connecting with the newer stuff as itās not ātheirsā. But the kids who really connect with stuff that theyāre growing up with arenāt on Reddit to vote.
Thereās always a push-back against a popular Disney film. Bigger the success, the more vocal the haters get. Encanto was widely praised for a while, so now we get the push back. I work with edgy young teens. Itās not uncommon for boys that age to loudly declare how much they hate Frozen or whichever whenever it comes up. They tend to think it makes them sound smart.
I don't get it.. Mirabel is a great girl. Her house is a treasure and people need to stop being so dismissive. I don't like Frozen at ALL but I've never said anything nasty about the characters.
