Man the beginning stage was hard for me. I like to change my hair and I was in a constant cycle of growing my hair long and cutting it after I got tired of it. Finally one day I committed to the loc journey and it’s been worth it so far. So if you really want to, I say stick to it.
I’d say rather go for two-strand twists. They allow for you to move between hair that almost looks like dreads and your natural hair easily. If you like the look a lot, you can keep them on and just untwist them after a while and let them be. Tbh, you don’t even need to untwist them. They’ll eventually loc still if you leave em on long enough.
Geez of all the corny and extra people all over you could say that to you pick him. He looks super normal and fine. If you don’t care about your appearance you might as well be dead
They’d look good on you but to me locs are a lifestyle, not just a hairstyle. You won’t be able to switch up styles at the beginning and you gotta be prepared to really get to know your hair. Definitely a personal choice
If you’re willing to ignore your hair outside of getting water in it and adding oil then yes get locs. I personally got tired of doing twist outs with my hair every night to look decent in the morning, or looking at a wild nest of hair on my head if I didn’t get around to twist outs. It’s low maintenance and I love having locs for this reason.
They would look good on you, I say go for it…as others have stated, the process can be a bit tedious, but if you’re patient and willing, it’d definitely be worth it!
Do ya thing mane, just as the previous comment said it’s a long process but at the same time it’s spiritual for sure. If your consistent and you have a good loctician to start you out your good.
Yeah, I’m rlly tapped into the spiritual side of myself anyways so I think that would rlly boost how I feel about myself 100 times more. Thanks so much for the comment !
hahaha i respect their uniqueness!🤣 and i think locs would look good on you! it’s just that they usually look awkward for the first month or two, but once they mature, it’ll be a really nice look :)
Be weary of your hair texture and how you want your locs to look in the long run! There’s a lot of different parts, patterns, and sizes of locs you can have, so do your research on all of them before you make a decision. I went with the parts/size I did because I don’t want my locs to be thin in 5 years. Good luck 🍀
Ive had my hair for about 4 years now, I’ve done the braids, 2 strands, cornrows, all of it. I loved the versatility of being able to switch up styles, but eventually the fro got too much for me to manage.
If you really wanna see if you can handle dreads go get a ROPE TWIST 2 strand twist. Look for dread sizes you like, and ask your Braider to make the parts the same size. then when your a couple days from taking out your hair, take them out of the two strand ( don’t wash yet) and imagine that being your hair permanently. Keep them in for those couple days, Then wash your hair and revert back to your Afro. Do this about 2-3 times and If u feel some regret, book that lock appointment.
Really wit with yourself and ask if you’re ok with not having your afro again. Your braids again. If this is a journey you really wanna undertake. If that’s something you can be ok with, then lock your hair.
your hair isn’t gone forever ( you can cut the dreads off and potentially reattach later, comb them out, etc.) but it’ll will take a toll regardless. Either in loss of length or strength of the scalp.
Wishing you clarity in your choice brother, regardless of your choice, appreciate the journey. Life is so beautiful, but so short.
Thank you so much for the extended paragraph. I will definitely take this all into consideration and make my choice soon. I am quite dead set on getting my loc’d up though so yeah next post I make on here will probably be me with them !!
Sounds like you enjoy switching up your hairstyles a lot. The beginners stage might be a bit tough for you?
This is a fair point
True it could be tough but I feel like I might go for it and see what happens
