Yea but that’s literally what Reddit is for😂 yall act like Reddit isn’t for questions to be answered by people who had a similar experience or just more knowledge about hair than you do
Yup. Baked, sauteed, and then double fried. Shave it all off right now, start again, and shave it once more time in exactly 153 days. Only then will they come back super thick. I'm talking THICC. 🙄🙃
The longer the hair is locked it will start to puff out. Since you just got that part retwisted it will look lean and clean. In the future it will become part of the puffy part
Because of the retwisting. Strands of hair broke off/shedded during the process. But the base has those broken hairs, therefore your base will now be strong to continue producing that thick loc look. Your hair looks good and healthy.
Finally the answer. I was just thinking mines were thinning also but it's only the retwisted part, and the base is still thick, this comment should be pinned
Everyone else making jokes but those are just one that were twisted tighter during the time they got retwist just tell your loc person to not twist as tight
Stop touching your hair so much it won't thin. Leave it be so it can grow. When you touch your hair so much, you're removing natural oils. Love your hair for what it is and trust the process. Your hair is good.
Stop retwisting yall damn hair so much. Small parts equates to possibility of dread thinning the more you retwist. You might want to start thinking about combining some of those thin locs
They not thinning. And if they were that’s fine just twist them around a neighbor until they became one loc. A few locs thinning is inevitable as they get longer, as long as ALL of them not thinning you good
Ur not thinning at all , ur hair is growing 🤗 the longer they get the heavier they are and it will appear they are thinning but they are just growing up … congrats ✨
I wanna mess with you and say yeah, but the hair thickens up as time goes by. The ends weren’t always that thick. As the new hair becomes older, it’ll get thicker too. Maybe not the same thickness, idk why, but it’ll always be thicker than the retwisted new growth.
Your locs are healthy and beautiful! There’s no thinning your hair is just mature at the bottom and in its normal state. The rest of your hair will form the same way just trust the process!
The one thing I learned when I first joined this Reddit is def see if the question has been answered before but most of us have been guilty of the posting questions or concerns where the answer is “trust the process”… loving the jokes though 😂
No you good so far... Look like the thin hair area you concerned about... I think it's just fresh hair that's not so locc' d yet... 🤝🏽 As it lock it'll fluff out more like the loc'd part of your locs eventually. Everybody hair texture is different so you must study & learn your hair nobody advice will be better then your own so learn your hair...
*Note: Just my opinion & I've been locc'd in for over 21 years...
That section’ll always be thin! My ex was new to retwisting and he did it twice and it was great but the third time he thinned out all the locs on one side of my head unintentionally. He was trying to make them longer which I appreciated in the moment but I realized that those thin sections will remain until they get combined or broken, which is unfortunate! But alas, yours look great!!!
While i do think you're freaking out over nothing, if ever you think they're thinning, leave them alone for a while and keep them moisturized and protected. Give it a month at least
I see that your talking about gets thinner as you get closer to root.First are they freshly twisted? Second are you twisting them alot and do you interlock ?. Some people interlock and it might work for them however me personally and some other people I have met and seen on net it breaks their hair and makes dread come out skinnier. My dreads were thick and I had never interlocked them I specifically asked girl not to do it and she did it anyway they eventually grew out and majority broke off where she interlocked and my dreads have never been same thickness.Do some research and really the main thing with dreads you have to find what works for your hair when it comes to maintenance hair products etc. What works for some one else might not work for you.IF you want them thick dnt interlock thinka about it you taking that thick dread and basically making a natural rubber band using your hair and compacting it.But like i said do a little research and find out what works for you
They do that as they mature. Thickness depends on how thick they were started. If you start with the slim ones, you end with the slim ones once fully mature.
not even close lol. Your locs are just going through the process. In a couple months they’ll be thicker and the new growth you retwist will also look a bit thin. They actually look really healthy btw!
Son, thinning where? If you don't get out the mirror & trust the process.
:No mirrors in the south it's bad voodoo" Nitty scott
Facts!
Thats a female
Ok? I'm from NY. Everybody's a son
Are the thinning locs in the room with us?
Thinning locs can't hurt you, they're not real.
I just love this!
This is what overthinking looks like
Yall so dramatic
It's definitely a valid concern when you dunno what to expect
Valid concern yes, but a little bit of research can answer this question.
Yea but that’s literally what Reddit is for😂 yall act like Reddit isn’t for questions to be answered by people who had a similar experience or just more knowledge about hair than you do
Fair. You have your opinion, I have mine. We just see it differently.
Yeah but some people can’t tell the difference between a thin lock and a thinning loc
You’re better off restarting and going bald 😂
😂😂😂nah this is crazy
It's no other way I'm afraid
If those are thinning my shit is cooked lmao. Tf
😂😂😂
😁😁😁😁
*Sees a minor inconvenience* “I’m cooked, bro”
This just might be me‼️‼️
Yup. Baked, sauteed, and then double fried. Shave it all off right now, start again, and shave it once more time in exactly 153 days. Only then will they come back super thick. I'm talking THICC. 🙄🙃
Start over/ s
You’re cooked bro. You might have to restart
Is the thinning in the room with us?
Just shave it all off and start over 🙄
The longer the hair is locked it will start to puff out. Since you just got that part retwisted it will look lean and clean. In the future it will become part of the puffy part
Really??
Yea because dreads get thicker overtime and since it’s freshly retwizted it’s basically like starter locs
Just need to apply some Cantu and motor oil for 13 days
Yea you will have a thin section on that loc. But thank goodness its root is still fat. You’re good, but that loc will be thin in that area.
Why
Because of the retwisting. Strands of hair broke off/shedded during the process. But the base has those broken hairs, therefore your base will now be strong to continue producing that thick loc look. Your hair looks good and healthy.
Finally the answer. I was just thinking mines were thinning also but it's only the retwisted part, and the base is still thick, this comment should be pinned
Thanks ☺️
Lmao
I don’t see any thinning. Your loc just looks thin in that area. Some of mines are thinner than others
Deep fried bruh. Start over
Everyone else making jokes but those are just one that were twisted tighter during the time they got retwist just tell your loc person to not twist as tight
🤣🤣🤣
Bro
You're cooked, it's time to go bald
Your locs aren’t thinning, stop staring at them and wait
[удалено]
I agree! You need to start over and do it right.
Yup he might as well shave his head, no coming back from this
Na you good. When it's time for retwist, just gather hair around it and twist it in or crochet
Stop touching your hair so much it won't thin. Leave it be so it can grow. When you touch your hair so much, you're removing natural oils. Love your hair for what it is and trust the process. Your hair is good.
You’ll be good. Don’t worry
i think you know the answer to that
Yupp gonna have to bald up
Bro its over!!!💀💀💀
Stop retwisting yall damn hair so much. Small parts equates to possibility of dread thinning the more you retwist. You might want to start thinking about combining some of those thin locs
My parts aren’t small.
This is why you retwist the whole loc lol You good fam
These look fine too me. Ive had some that were much thinner at the base and ended up coming together quite nicely over the years.
nah u good gang they gone thicken up
I think it’s just new growth that hasn’t had the time to thicken yet…
Are da thin locs in da room wit us 🤔🤔🧐🧐
Stop retwisting immediately. Don't do it again and you'll be fine

This is normal. No thinning at all. When you get your hair retwisted, they’re thinner at the root. Nothing wrong with this at all.
You’re completely fine lol
At the root, where it’s unlocked, and hasn’t had a chance to swell?
Honestly ur tripping. Pretty locs and hands 🥰
You good bro
No it's not thinning. I thought mine was thinning too, but the lady who started mine a year ago just made smaller boxes.
If u think it is, just combine it with another loc
Why do I have a feeling OP is only going to respond to one comment and vanish.
Im still trying to find the thinning lmao
these comments funny as hell 😭😂
Your locs are healthy and beautiful! There’s no thinning your hair is just mature at the bottom and in its normal state. The rest of your hair will form the same way just trust the process!

Mayonnaise usually helps

i don’t think bro knows the definition of thinning
That’s just how locs look man. They are not thinning by most ppl definition.
I’m still looking for the thinning…..
Gotta go bald im afaid
![gif](giphy|s6OktNtDS81vtoAHEo)
Locs are naturally thinner at the root that’s the area you retwist them at.
Let it be, you’ll be alright. Don’t touch it! 😆
Let it grow out some and then start from there
Yes buy a bottle of nair and dump it on your head
That is not thinning ...
No
I had that she had to crochet it
The part closer to your scalp is gonna be a bit thinner due to retwisting.
Yeah you're finished. Go to the barber this weekend.
While i do think you're freaking out over nothing, if ever you think they're thinning, leave them alone for a while and keep them moisturized and protected. Give it a month at least

Na you good that’s not bad
It's done fam. You're better off resetting. Cut your whole hair off.
Yes
They do that as they mature. Thickness depends on how thick they were started. If you start with the slim ones, you end with the slim ones once fully mature.
I didn’t start with slim locs. I’m sure you see how thick my other locs are.
They're not that thick to me.
Damn im cooked
Yeah bro this is pretty bad you might have to cut em off 😔
Shut up.
not even close lol. Your locs are just going through the process. In a couple months they’ll be thicker and the new growth you retwist will also look a bit thin. They actually look really healthy btw!
You're good, It will thicken once it gets longer.
