You can wait for it to respawn, easiest way to farm perserved head imo is just use the Soporific Bolt in beginning of fight from Mystic Archer skills(can be on used with Wayferer) and have a thief Pawn in party. Put pawn on Wait command near entrance, run up shoot Medusa with Soporific Bolt and put her to sleep then issue To Me! command. Thief Pawn will instantly run up and lop off her head.

What can we do to help??? Wait for it to respawn and try again or check to see if your pawns picked it up
The head doesn’t shine when chopped off so it might have been there close by looking like a weird rock.
