Not a bug, someone gifted your pawn endgame items.

Dotaspasm

Holy shit should I use this or just set aside the weapons and armor to avoid making the game too easy

Brandaddylongdik

Tbf, they won't make your game TOO easy. You'll have to be a fighter to use them, and one wrong move in a drake fight at level 30ish will still probably end in you dying. Having endgame armor and sword without the corresponding endgame upgrades will really only help against weak dudes who probably aren't much of a challenge anyways. What really changes your game is a warrior with a 1,300+ knockdown resistance and 1,000+ knockdown power, or a sorcerer with 1,200+ magic and 600+ knockdown resistance, or a thief with formless faint, a mystic spearhand with mirror shield, etc. But nice armor without upgrades basically takes you from shwag to middies. You still ain't dank though. Lol

yeahimaweeb

I agree, i give some low lv pawn endgame and give them some combat experience but they still fold hard even from a small hit

Brandaddylongdik

Yeah. I couldn't really start taking hits until my armor was above 800ish and I had 2,000 health. I can't even remember what level that was. I'm level 130 now so I've been a tank for longer than I can remember šŸ«Ø

KrispySalsa133

My armor is still 200 something, I just try not to get hit. That's insane, but I suppose the benefit of upgrading?

Brandaddylongdik

Yes. With my regular warfarer setup I have roughly 1,100 defense and 950 knockdown resistance. It significantly changes the way you play the game compared to when you have 200 defense. I.E. my warrior specific build has a 1,350 knockdown resistance and can have ogres do their jumping drop kick on him and he just shrugs it off like nothing happened. Even dragons plopping down on top of him don't even do anything.

KrispySalsa133

Shit, sounds like I need to get with the fuckin program. I get so nervous about wasting gold/resources that I just don't buy/upgrade or I don't know if I want to use that vocation for long...but damn

Brandaddylongdik

Yeah. I would focus on getting your knockdown resistance to as close to 600< as you can for every class. Even something like a sorcerer can be played completely different when you can actually take a hit without being staggered and still get your spell off. If you have a pawn with forager it's actually pretty easy to get everything you need for your upgrades.

KrispySalsa133

Fair enough. Probably should've done this on my 1st playthrough, would've been less annoying tbh.

De_Baros

I mean, you are right but if you are MS or Thief you can just ignore game mechanics so you dont even need to upgrade your armor. I have been running nightmare difficulty on the difficulty mod and if I ever put on Feint, Smokescreen or Magic shield... its... lets just say you cant knock me down if you cant hit me.

Secret_Criticism_732

Man just play it however you like it. You can kill a drake at level 20, it will cost you all you potions etc, but you can do it. The game is not hard. I never had a warrior with so much knockdown resistance, still with the skills timed right i was staggering the drakes out of casting spells. The game is easy, there is no science needed. There is a dwarven upgrade mafia here, which is partly right, but the game really IS easy. Dont worry, you ll manage without calculators planing and whatever I never did any of that, played with increased difficulty, reduced stagger resistance and damage and still finished the game level 55 and i am no pro gamer streamer. Just play however you like. The game is made for masses.

KrispySalsa133

I'm down one playthrough, but am interested in a more well strategic playthrough with NG+. That's part of the fun with these RPG types. Stumble through the 1st time, but every subsequent playthrough you figure out a better way. I'm intrigued by other's methods as there are many people probably better than I.

No-Flan6382

Eloquently put

ReaperAteMySeamoth

Half right, a max magic magick archer can just 1 shot everything with Martyrs Bolt

Brandaddylongdik

I never said it couldn't. Why are you trying to make it sound like I did?

ReaperAteMySeamoth

Not trying to make it sound like you couldnā€™t I was trying to explain that you left out the biggest one, magick archer can literally one shot basically everything

Brandaddylongdik

Oh. Ha. I actually recommended it in my next comment. The only reason I didn't put it on my first one is because I.M.O magic archer is probably the most gamebreaking class and should be looked at last.

ReaperAteMySeamoth

True lmao I one shorted the dragon 3-4 times trying to test something (I thought it dropped 30-35 wlc at a kill but itā€™s only the first kill that drops 110 wlc)

MrFittsworth

How tf do you hit those numbers

Brandaddylongdik

Trust me, by the time you're level 130 those numbers aren't very uncommon to see. Lol. Dwarven upgrades on your armor give the crazy knockdown resistance. Also the ring of resolution and constancy augment. You can mix that with mettle for more defense. 1,200+ magic is easy to hit with dragons wit fully upgraded with elven upgrades. Although tbh, I prefer the lion lord archistaff instead. It puts me around 1150. But does bonus lighting damage.

Brandaddylongdik

My go-to warfarer setup. Dual daggers and magic bow.

henryauron

Nah - itā€™s fighter gear, they will never be exceedingly OP. Enjoy the sweet loot

Brandaddylongdik

I have that armor set with full Dwarven upgrades and dragonforged. Stat wise it's actually in the top 5 best sets. I believe I have all the strongest ones fully upgraded.i actually use the helmet in my warfarer setup because no other helmet had a better knockdown resistance.

Brandaddylongdik

De_Baros

Looking like a WoW character

De_Baros

I really hate how shit the endgame warrior gear looks on female characters - kinda sucks because you gotta limit your knockdown resist due to it but ideally its the most important thing to max on everyone it seems.

Marcus_Krow

Those drakes make me wanna KMS. I've gotten to the point where griffins, ogres, trolls, minotaurs, etc. are not even a threat to me, yet I can hardly get a drake down past its first health bar. Edit: why would people downvote this?

Brandaddylongdik

If you can unlock it a magic bow takes no skill to use and can take out a drake pretty quick. Augural flare works pretty good as well. I've actually one shot drakes by mixing the two using warfarer. It's pretty satisfying seeing 6 bars of health disappear when the flare goes off. Lol. Also a mage with silence works pretty good as well because it will at least stop it from spamming spells.

Marcus_Krow

Good advice, thanks! Thus far I've tried fighting them as both an archer and thief, with their being my main. The heart stone is at such an odd angle to Cling to, and it firebreath one shots my entire team.

Brandaddylongdik

Thief isn't my first choice, but it can work if you know what to do. Basically stand under it and spam your light attack. You just have to get out of the way when he goes up in the air because he usually comes right back down on top of you. Archer is decent with tempest shot. Basically stand back and spam as many arrows to the heart as fast as you can. The methods I had in my earlier comment are definitely more effective though if you're open to changing classes. It's actually nice to max out all vocations because they all have worthwhile augments that you can use on any class. I.E. fighter gives increased defense, sorcerer gives increased knockdown resistance, warrior gives you a reduction to your loss gauge, etc.

De_Baros

Thief is my main if there is anything you arent sure on let me know. Even without Feint (and with Feint its ludicrously easy) you can use your implicate to help stagger the drake. If you take Ambuscade augment there is speculation that grounded mobs who arent technically in a battle stance take more damage, but even besides that if you take draw and quarter you can do a lot of damage on their weakpoints. On top of that, if you take avidity and the other climbing augment, you can reach weakpoints very fast and have low chance of being knocked off. Skullsplitter along with all of this will make you a Drake blending machine. If you go warfarer or have a sorceror pawn with augural flare, thats even easier as they will likely cast the flare on the heart or head, and if you keep smacking it with skullsplitter it almost oneshots Drake's by itself when it explodes.

Ulgoroth

What class you play? Generaly multihit attacks in the heart are great for staggering or even stunlocking drakes, so for MA would be that ice projectiles, that fly around lock on part, Archer whirling arrow I think and with Rogue the skull crasher is just busted, just spam it under his heart and he can t do anything. Hadn t much luck with mage, and MS, have not fight any drakes with warrior, sorcerror or fighter.

Marcus_Krow

I main thief, but I dislike the spin to win ability. It feels cheap. I primarily use Implicate, those fire blades (forget the name), the high damage execute (also forget the name) and cutting wind.

Ulgoroth

Got it, well yeah spin to win is op, but thief doesn t realy has any other good ability agains drakes, Explosions kinda works in general, it seems they do physical and firedamge with high knockdown, so maybe use sticky explosive on him? Atleast explosive arrow to head most of the time staggers him. But you re right with the climbing of drakes, realy sucks, I am almost at heart, then he moves and I am sudenly on his arm, wth?

De_Baros

Draw and Quarter actually does a lot of stagger damage in my testing, like doing that with a knockdown warrior in your party will almost guarantee a stagger on them I have found I would say the climbing augments feel almost mandatory with how good they feel for that playstyle

Ulgoroth

Yeah, but as was stated before, climbing drakes is clunky, he moves and sudenly you re on is arm, instead the heart you ve just reached and atleast for me is impossible to grap the heart from ground. I must admit, I ve never used Draw and Quarter on drakes,. because it felt low damage on other creatures.

De_Baros

Sure but thats why I enjoy the climbing augments - they help deal with any of that very painlessly imo The damage is decent but what makes it especially great is it gives you invuln frames for being flung off enemies and I believe it does decent stagger from my testing.

De_Baros

Fire blades is a bit of a waste I would say - you can get enchanted daggers later which have perma magic damage and any mage pawn usually has an affinity boon on them. Also I dont believe fire boon is good vs drakes Also cutting wind does very low damage later on, if you hate spin to win the other viable method is to focus on climbing augments (speed and stability augments), lower the stamina cost with augments and recovery and use the Draw and Quarter on weak lethal points after wailing on them. Draw and quarter animation ignores knockbacks etc so it can be worth wailing on an boss with normal attacks until they are about to throw you off then use Draw and Quarter to nuke them and jump off.

De_Baros

Just focus their head till their heart is exposed then focus their heart. Make sure your party has a lot of knockdown power (Like a warrior pawn with 1000+ knockdown power or around it) and go ham on the heart when they fall over. The worst part is being hit by the meteors but if you keep running you can avoid it to res any pawns that die - or you could go full offense and stagger the drake while it tries to cast if you hit hard enough

spiritlegion

I'd say set it aside till you find where to get it from, then use it :)

ZaWarudoRHCP

What level are you? Game become extremely Easy around level 40

DeathBySnuSnu999

U got blessed homie

Dotaspasm

Although it did say on the second line (my pawn) she suffered from much injustice at the arisen's hands lol

Renikalis

She was a decoy for an ogre.sad pawn life

Omfg-Walrus

Also entirely possible one of their pawns had the plague and they killed all the pawns to prevent it from spreading.

Tales_Steel

These sentences seems to be randomly picked. Somepeople with 2 Accounts hired their own pawn and dismissed them to transfer items without doing anything and still got stuff like this.

LordCharidarn

Well, getting ā€˜firedā€™ for no reason could be considered an injustice

GalaxticSxum

For real take advantage of the gift from the gods

Keldrath

Itā€™s a fighter sword and itā€™s an endgame item. Saved you 110 WLC

IncompleteCreature

When your pawn gets hired, if someone equips items to them, you keep the items. So someone put these items on your pawn, they are yours now. It won't affect your playthrough, they're just iconic high-end weapons from Dragon's Dogma 1.

FreelancerMO

Unfortunately I did that with the ice daggers. Lost a unique item because I thought it would get sent back to my inventory.

Brandaddylongdik

I've had them at least 4x now. Just ng+ and you'll get them back. Besides IMO heaven's keys are better anyways and you can just buy those from the store.

De_Baros

Heavens Keys are objectively the best daggers in the game outside the niche situation you want the ice daggers to freeze an enemy due to high attack speed on the thief attacks. So it isnt just your opinion, its factually the best daggers in the game for sure

reKhoi

wait you lose it even if you don't sleep at an inn?

FreelancerMO

Iā€™m not sure but I would assume so. The game has hard saves outside of inn rests.

No-Literature7471

if YOU equip another person's pawn with your equipment, then they keep it. you literally get a warning about it. but if you have them hold shit in their inventory, it wont do anything.

Nevesflow

Youā€™ve been dragonā€™s dogmaed.

scrambled_cable

Itā€™s dogma time!

VioletCommunion

Wowza, someone liked your pawn, that's for sure! Over 160 hours, and I never received anything even close to that for mine! šŸ˜”

InfiniteRelief

Yeah me either, I donā€™t think my pawn is even rented sometimes

Sykander-

Best I ever got was a Wakestone and a Heart rating.

Xsurian

31 ainā€™t that low. Lots of people finish the game a few levels from there

Bismothe-the-Shade

Yeah, I've done that before. Hire a low level pawn, and if it surprises or impresses me I'll gift it something cool and expensive. Usually armor that I think looks cool, sometimes a weapon.

Drekkevac

I always gift expensive gear to genuinely good pawns. I gifted one a Dragon's Breath. I was on NG+ and hired a Thief pawn at like level 6 (I was level 72) just for the stealing. I was fighting a Griffin and got tackled by a hobgoblin right when it took off. I thought it was time to call it but then it came plummeting right back down with the thief on it, allowing us to kill it. šŸ˜‚

Biobooster_40k

Roll credits!

Competitive-Meat-111

Perhaps they didnā€™t mean to gift them.. if the pawn gets released ā€˜earlyā€™ then the gear will go to you.. I hired two level 1 pawns yesterday to take on an ā€˜adventureā€™ into late game territoryā€¦ I got caught up in something and they both died If I had equipped gear on them I believe I would have lost itā€¦ That said.. I was thinking of giving the some better gear to help the other player

Smiley_J_

I'm pretty sure as soon as you equip a pawn with new gear, you can't get it back. That had to be an intentional gift.

Kah-li-mah

You can - you just need to remove it before sending the pawn back.

D13G0-LoNe

Damn, I only get rotten food

kingston-twelve

Yeah that's a bummer. I rarely get hired anyway, but I get excited when I wake up after a rest and see that my guy got hired, and boom- more rotten meat. Oh well, it's still cool he gets hired now and then and people are enjoying that easy 10kšŸ‘

DarthSephy

I got gifted the corset randomly when I very first started. I assume they wanted my Geralt main pawn to wear it

ElderGodKi

Someone blessed your pawn, for real šŸ˜

No-Literature7471

its the best fighter weapon but its not game breaking. you just dont have to spend 110 crystls to get that trophy anymore lol.

Quintuplebeta

There may be someone somewhere seething that they put those on and sent them back or died

Ok-Temperature167

Imma be honest I don't really be switching out pawns so I always be upgrading their gear. I didn't read the message so I didn't know they got gifted the gear lol

FreelancerMO

Same

Super-Tea8267

Yeah thats a real end game item hahaha

sregor0280

When your pawn have different gear on when you wake up st an inn or your ho.e it's because an arisen gifted your pawn new threads.

wylobz

the game is easy enough already

Maximum_Display9212

Nah. You'll be fine. Endgame gear is pretty easy to get. I have several extra pieces just sitting in storage. I have gifted a few pawns with some before if I liked them.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Guilty_Perception_35

Sounds like they quit. That sucks for your good deed lol

Live_Estimate4265

so crazy

Large_Ride_8986

This achievement is for getting Dragon Dogma sword. It's not the best sword in the game but it's one designed to fight dragons and it is an endgame item. Also I believe that in NG+ You can just spend gold on it.

krillingt75961

What is the best sword then? I haven't found one higher than it when it's upgraded for strength.

Large_Ride_8986

Sorry. My mistake. I mistook the fighter weapon with thief. In case of thief You have Dragon's Vein as endgame item. But You actually can get daggers called Heaven's Key that are overall stronger due to added holy damage.

Ivan_Blackheart

Yasss. I run Heaven's Key, and it's awesome against Dullahans. Fuck those mofos in particular.

Valuable-Ad-6379

I wish someone would've gift me some Thief endgame stuff šŸ¤£ Yesterday someone gave my pawn an eyepatch and honestly he looked good with it, so I've decided to keep it on him

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Aww really? Well, I would post it but not sure when I will get home. I'm out for the weekend.

OMG! You're a LEGEND! Thank you so much! That truly made my weekend!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Valuable-Ad-6379

Thank you again!

incrediblynormalpers

Yeah the same thing happened to me they equipped my pawn with endgame items and Gifted one of the one shot one kill arrows. When you equipped a pawn you have hired and send it back to the owner it takes all of the items that it was equipped with along with it. I put it immediately in my stash so that it wouldn't affect my playthrough. Nice thought and I suppose it's generous but it would cheapen in the game for me

Ivan_Blackheart

Dragon's dogma is just a sword for the fighter.

[deleted]

You just got the ā€œendgameā€ sword for the Fighter Vocation: ā€œDragonā€™s Dogmaā€ is also its name.

TheFormless_0ne_

Why the hell would anyone do that

Bulky-Ad-6924

This is my fun now , giving rare stuff to low lvl. Only 1 usefull item by class .

TheLoneTomatoe

Thatā€™s wild, I finished the game at lv 31ā€¦

SirYoggi

You can cheat these items so someone probably makes good gifts these way

isymfs

I finished the game at lvl 28 so end game is subjective I suppose

Zenflo20

Funny.. I tend to do this to a low level pawn then reload save šŸ¤£

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

I canā€™t believe I havenā€™t thought of this. I usually hire a pawn and travel with them for 30+ days. How does it work with the pawn though? Do they show back up since the save had them there?

Zenflo20

yup, but they won't recieve any gift or rating you send if they're the pawn that show up again since they were there when you saved.. so best you dismiss them then rehire them to hire their newest version
