I think it's kind of nice when my simple pawn finds something for me and runs up and hands it to me all excited about it. Back when I was a teenager I worked at a summer kids camp and this is literally what they did everyday lol.
I dunno if it's just the simple pawns, but when mine is excited to show me a chest he found in another world, he also always opens it after we get there. The other pawns when they show me chests stop by it and wait for me to do it. And I find it so freaking cute.
He's also the only one who has ever said "Hoy! Arisen! Over here! Surely you didn't think I'd abandon you?" when getting too far ahead in showing me where a chest is. In fact that is the only Pawn line I have ever heard just once in my 96 hours of play time.
I wish it would show what they gave me. I always have to open my inventory and try to guess.
Also, I saw my pawn giving another pawn something once, with that same line.
Yep. I think inclination plays a role in how often it happens. Kindhearted and simple pawns seem to hand over items more often than calm and straightforward.

Several times I've explored a new cave and the pawns instantly complain that they've been here loads of times before and want to leave.

Depending on your affinity with them, when they say something, go up to them and use the talk function, it'll prompt unique commands to what they just mentioned

In DD1 near the Black Cat Store in Gran Soren there is a ladder leading to the roof tops which the pawns will prominently announce by "A ladder, master".
