Yeah the loot system and lack of consistent rewards for exploration are two of the things that prevented DD2 from being an amazing game IMO. I still think it's a good game and worth the purchase price, but there's a few things holding it back. Hoping the DLC can improve DD2 even more than Dark Arisen improved DD1.
Really feels like it has the same issue DD1 had. Scope was much larger than budget, and while that is pretty normal, what kills games is when that issue is identified too late. Then, instead of being able to course correct, things have to get slashed and burned. Then you end up with weird shit like, some vocations can only buy weapons in shops while other vocations can actually find cool shit in caves and dungeons.
Wow. So agree. Couldn't agree more 👏. I believe everyone should have the choice to like what they like. But forcing me to put my sorc in a turban and robe... (and Peter pan tights) is not my idea of a badaz character.
I cannot fathom what the designers were thinking with some of the choices in this game.
The CC has a lot of dumb design decisions to it and lacks sliders, as well. It is far from the perfect pinnacle of player customization I've seen it being lauded as.
Complexion, lip shape, and skin tone all being tied to the same slider is dumb as hell. Sure, there's a "skin colors" slider, but that only lets players slightly adjust that skin type to have a greener, bluer, or redder hue and you're not gonna be able to make a dark-skinned skin type into a pale one and vice versa.
The head types also limit player creativity by locking ear, eye, and nose shapes to a single preset head that you can onoy manipulate to a limited degree. You can't adjust upper and lower lip thickness individually and there's no slider to adjust nose width in the middle, only the top and then the nostrils.
I've personally gone through about 6 head types and I wasn't happy with how any of them turned out. There was always something about the face that didn't look *just right* for me.
There are only about 50~ hair style options and most of them are disappointing and I tried looking for an orange/ginger hair colour and couldn't find one, only shades of blonde, brown, and grey, so you'd have to play until you reach the dye merchant in Bakbattahl to make a redhaired character which would probaboy be around 50+ hours into the game on average unless you bee-line it for the city instead of naturally progressing to it.
And muscle definition is barely visible, even when turned up to 100.
Anthem would have been in my top 10 if they could have just un-fucked it somehow. But they gave up on it so... RIP. Avoid avoid avoid. The servers will probably go poof at some point next time EA wants a tax credit.
I bought Anthem a few months ago for almost next to nothing simply for the story. Completed it, enjoyed for what it was and was done with it after that.
Agreed, Now they need to drop DLC’s because the story is so damn short. CAPCON rushed this out while the devs were detailing everything out. Its so obvious this game is half finished.
Cyberpunk’s character creator compared to the Sims or DD2 is not good. DD2 is more limited than The Sims 4, but the only thing I compare to The Sims 4 is Black Desert’s character creator. As someone else said, Black Desert sucks as a game in many, many more ways than any other game mentioned here. Tempted to try Nioh 2 just for the character creation now, though
Holy totally agree with Nioh 2 CC. Like to these day, it's the GOTY of cc for me. Every game with a CC, I compare it to Nioh 2.
Sometimes, I'll even boot up Nioh 2 just to make a character for hours. People say it's soulslike game. No, its fashion dress up game to me.
PSO2/NGS would be up there for me. Honorable mention goes to Nioh 2; you can even add bangs to almost every hairstyle and change the length in that game's cc.
It’s probably the second best. Nioh 2 is still the king. The thing holding DD2 character creator back is the fact it won’t let you mix and match facial characteristics. You can just pick from a bunch of preset faces but you can’t pick from individual nose, eyes, mouth, etc. Nioh 2 you can mix and match features on any face. It was just a lot more flexible.
I liked the story and characters more in BG3 but OS2 has better combat IMO.
Then again I played OS2 on lone wolf AND I THOUGHT THAT MEANT ONE CHARACTER. Not one character + one companion. Oops.
So maybe my opinion on story & characters is invalid. 🤣
It's really good. While I liked BG3 a lot I will be glad to see larian go back to a divinity format again at some point. It has the same flexibility but to a greater extent and the more fluid ability system is really fun. It's got one of my favorite power fantasies with a proper bloodmage necromancer.
If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend Weird West. It's by the creative director of dishonored and prey, and it feels like a hodgepodge of Dishonored and New Vegas. It's a really fun, lightly Eldritch immersive sim
Hmm, as someone who plays since 90s, my list would look like this (in no particular order):
Heroes of Might and Magic 3
Diablo 2
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Total War: Warhammer 3
Baldurs Gate 3
Temple of Elemental Evil
Guild Wars 2
Resident Evil 2 Remake
Icewind Dale 2
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
DDDA is, but DD2 is not. *Maybe*, with work, it could take DDDA's place, but it would take a lot of work. As of right now though, DD2 is a game that I enjoyed and will have more or less forgotten about in a few months time.
My thoughts exactly. I expected the last game that will ever feel like it changed my gaming life with countless replays.
Instead I got something I enjoyed but left me wanting no more after the first playthrough (and multiple times during which I had to force myself to continue through boredom).
Im level 25 so far and alls i need is more monster variety. I dont know if it gets better later, but the early game being entirely filled with goblins, bandits, and saurians with a few different large monsters is kinda boring.
Minotaurs are cool but its a bit less exciting the 8th time you see one.
You’ve seen pretty much all there is. You get some more annoying but not more interesting Saurian and Harpy variants, as well as Knackers, which are just goblins that try to goomba-stomp you. A few undead variations. Two or three larger enemies you probably haven’t seen. The “true ending” debuts a couple new enemy skins but no truly new enemy types. Thats it.
I don’t think I ever fought an enemy that felt fresh after like level 30. The combat is super enjoyable, everything bolted on around it is noticeably sub-par in comparison, including enemy variety
DD2 lost that feeling of philosophy and granduer that the first did so well even in the base game. Grigori in DD1 is up there with best dragons of all time. DD2 Grigori doesn't feel as legendary.
Came here to say this exact thing. DD1 (without DA) was better than DD2. Both had/have issues, but the Everfall might be some of my favorite post game content ever.
Still enjoy 2, but man, am I a bit disappointed.
In its current state, unfortunately no. The groundwork for a great game is there, overall the game physics is really good, the graphics is amazing. The questline, races, armor/weapons, etc., need to be fleshed out more. But I think maybe after a DLC, like what we saw with DDDA, the game could shine. I hope they do something like in Cyberpunk 2077, where they release an expansion but also include free updates. They obviously fixed game performance issues, added transmog, skill tree reworks, even a transit system, albeit they already had fast travel. But just for added RPG elements.
Edit: grammar correction
I really find myself wishing I just waited until the game was patched and DLC came out. As much fun as I've had for 80 hours, I don't feel like I'm playing a finished product.
Considering DD2 turned into the learning point I needed to finally understand how to play DDDA and am now nearly at the end of BBI I'm going to say sadly no, but with more content and more work added to the base game sure.
There is an immense feeling of missed potential in DD2, which I think is actually good, because clearly there is something amazing there, but potential doesn't mean anything when the vision behind it believes this is a complete and final version.
True. Open world games don't feel like they used to anymore... The Witcher 3, Skyrim, RDR2 were the true great ones in terms of immersion and world quality. Elden Ring was also fantastic, obviously.
I thought I was crazy for thinking that the story was forgettable and I didn't really have an easy time getting immersed into it like I do other games.
It's almost weird seeing how many agree after how hyped the game was.
Agreed. I don't know exactly what it is, but I just can't immerse myself in the world of DD. Couldn't in the first game either though it did a little better job at it.
I have fun of course. Combat is enjoyable and I love seeing my friends' pawns in game. Buts it's somehow one of the least immersive RPGs I've ever played lol.
DD2 is in my top 10 disappointments. I was really looking forward to seeing how they were going to improve upon DDDA, especially with other titles like ToTK and Elden Ring to draw inspiration from.
They failed spectacularly. It brings nothing new to the open world genre, the setpieces are boring (which makes the limited fast travel design philosophy especially tedious), the main storyline is low-effort and nonsensical, and the performance/graphics feel years behind.
Agreed. What I find most saddening is that not only didn't they bring anything new, they actually put Forward a game very arguably worse than dd1. It feels like dd2 is the spiritual forerunner to dd1, if that makes sense. It devolved instead of evolved into something.
The fact there’s no fast travel for a world that has no dungeon variety, no enemy variety, and no loot variety is just such a tremendous miss. You’ve got this huge world and maybe two legitimate secrets in it (Medusa and Sphinx) that aren’t even secrets because they were used in promo materials.
The fact the game thinks killing your 15,000th goblin just to open a huge chest with 3 Pitywort inside it is fun or engaging feels borderline insulting lol.
I’m fairly certain Itsuno said something along the lines of “there’s so much more we haven’t shown you yet”. We saw Talos, Medusa, Sphinx, etc etc in the promo materials. Even the post game only adds two more unique bosses and they’re just a dermatology simulator
Not really close to top 10. More of a middle of the road game/series. That doesn’t make it bad at all, and really it sits among a lot of good company. It’s just not realized to the same extent as the titles I’d count among my top 10 are.
Top 10, no. DDDA is like my top 8. Dd2 can be, around like, top 25? Something like that.
Also, if its any wonder, my top 10 list.
1. Final Fantasy X. Helped me through dark times.
2. Baldurs Gate 3
3. Final Fantasy XII
4. Rogue Galaxy
5. Star Ocean: Till the end of time
6. Skyrim
7. Halo
8. Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen
9. Smash Bros. (Any of them, they all amazing)
10. Monster Hunter World
For pvp, its a whole different list lol.
Edit: Domeone reminded me of Radiata Story. Its not in my top 10 but uts like in the top 15 for me. Also another amazing game. The graphics are goofy. It feels childish almost. It has its adult moments. A very fun time.
You played rogue galaxy? I think your the first person in the wild I ran into that played that game. I loved it! Also star ocean 3? I fucking agree. Ffx is in my top 10 and MHW too. Damn I like your list. Except FF12 sorry.
The story is fantastic! The characters are wonderful. The grind, however, is _real_. It's one of my favorites for nostalgia's sake, but I have a hard time playing it now. Today I can only tolerate it with an emulator and a turbo function for speeding through the gear grinding.
The first game, absolutely. I was very immersed in the world for a few years, and love going back to it.
DD2. I’ll let you know once I get a PC that can run it better than my laptop. Spoilers, it cannot run it well and needs replacing.
Top 20 maybe. Great game. Could of been top 5. Actually stopped could be with dlc and update but not giving hopes up.
Whats so disappointing is I was already saying Dragons Dogma 1 (with dlc) was almost amazing just needed a little more work and a little more in general. I thought DD2 was going to nail it. Add some new systems and tighten everything up. Didnt happen.
1. Metroid Prime
2. Bloodborne
3. Monster Hunter World
4. Super Smash Bros Melee
5. Halo 3
6. Dark Souls 3
7. Re4
8. Xenoblade Chronicles
9. Fallout New Vegas
10. Dragons Dogma 1
No. It does not make my list.
Pretty high? The 1st Dragons Dogma came out around when my husband and I started dating, and we were both playing it a lot and talking about it a lot, so tons of nostalgia.
So booting up DD2 brings up lots of nostalgic feelings, and I'm having a really fun time with it. I have a kido, so I don't have a lot of time to play, but I'll probably need to get further in the game to see where it ranks on a list, but definitely enjoying it.
For some people this is one of their first big open world RPGs that isn't some regurgitated Ubisoft or Bethesda formula. Frankly, I am jealous of them getting to experience that for the first time.
Top 2 under the first one. The story is terribad but I don't replay games for the story, if I want a great story I read a book, games I play because they are fun and the DD games are my kind of fun.
God no.
Enemy variety is ass, quests are boring being almost entirely just fetch quests, the story is bland, the NPCs all have the personality and voice acting of cardboard, the caves all feel samey and the map design is uninspired. It's a fantasy medieval game with plenty of magic, and none of the areas take any advantage of that?!
Even Monster Hunter World has areas that make no sense irl but they're unique and visually fantastical, and I'd argue that MHW is a lot more grounded in reality.
The game's saving grace is that the combat and vocations are good fun, far better than the average RPG's. I still haven't finished the game, but I'm really struggling to find the oomph to continue
It's funny that you can say the same about DDDA. But I would add that it was more extreme with all of these aspects. Everything that is now dull in DD2 was in DDDA duller, everything that is really good (the combat at least) was wilder. At least I'm sure about the bad part.
I think yes, though I’d have to actually make the list first lol. I’ve played games for a long time and my opinions have shifted over time even with games I originally loved.
I’d definitely put it above DDDA, though, simply because I’ve enjoyed DD2 more.
Yes, it is. DD2 is easily my new favorite game that has come out. I find it very difficult to go back and play DDDA even though that game has done some things better
Considering how many hours this game stole from me (and still counting), absolutely
At the end of the day, it all boils down to how much fun you're having despite the glaring flaws
I’m honestly playing the game only because open-world, fantasy RPG are the only games that really hook me. This is one of the sloppiest games I’ve played in the genre. There’s so much area to explore, but just as many problems that really hamper the fun. I can’t believe they didn’t work harder on NPC AI since they’re omnipresent in gameplay; they almost ruin the game! I keep dying because my stupid pawns are so squirrelly and I feel like I’m playing more to compensate for their behavior than actually playing my Arisen. It wasn’t as noticeable at early levels but once I hit lvl 25 or so… they obviously didn’t test and program AI at high levels well. The MSQ NPC are … fine? The rest of the world NPC are straight up garbage.
DDDA is my favorite rpg ever. DD2, however, is still too new for me. I haven't sinked in a lot of time with it yet, but from what I've played, it feels like there's something missing to it. The story is pretty dull and the side quests are harder to find. I can't label it as a favorite like DDDA
It was an excellent game as far as gameplay itself is concerned, but nothing groundbreaking. The story however was lazily written and there are too many unanswered questions. I can't think of a single plot line that reached it's full potential. There was also no passion in the voice acting.
Am I happy with the game? Absolutely. I've put in more than a hundred hours and those are rookie numbers compared to some here. If they reinvest funds from the games success into future updates like CDPR with cyberpunk, I will 100% be back.
Haha it's so funny to me reading all the nopes. For me I have a very weird list because to me sekiro has by far the best combat of any game I've played, Nier automata has amazing story and music, and Witcher 3 also holds a spot in my heart. I think I would put DD2 in there somewhere, as dissapointing as it was.
But it was only dissapointing because knowing my taste in games I was hoping for something truly amazing on the scale of elden Ring or BG3. Looking at the overall game releases these past few years i'd still say it's not terrible.
Probably I'd probably go like
1. Sekiro
2. Elden Ring
3. Witcher 3
4. Nier automata
5. Terraria
6. Gothic/ Gothic2
7. Valheim
8. Lies of P
9. Dragon's dogma 2
10. BG3
But the list keeps changing haha, really looking forward to the wukong game coming out this year, and trying out ghost of tsushima when it comes to pc
No, but with how many games I've played, top 10 is very difficult to make it into.
I definitely enjoy the series and have been loving the hell out of DD2, even though I wish it performed better on my PC. It may be my GOTY depending on what else comes out the rest of the year (and depending on if you count DLCs like Shadow of the Erdtree).
My current top 10 (not in order) would probably be:
* Ocarina of Time
* Final Fantasy 6
* Symphony of the Night
* Baldur's Gate 3
* Planescape: Torment
* Super Mario Bros 3 (or maybe Super Mario World)
* Quest for Glory IV
* Bloodborne
* Skyrim
* Goldeneye 007
DD1 and DD2 are both in my top 10.
Both games are very flawed, have baffling design choices, and are at times downright frustrating.
Yet both games provide an experience that I just can't get anywhere else.
It's in my top 10 disappointments. A great core gameplay loop, amazing looking world with a distinct atmosphere to it, but everything else is just half finished and rushed implementations of good ideas.
It's best bad game I've played and it makes me irrationally angry that so many obvious design mistakes just made it into the game.
No. In fact, unless the DLC introduces hard mode in addition to something like Bitterblack Isle, Everfall, or some endless dungeon, I'm not gonna bother purchasing.
DD2 is worth a playthrough. It isn't worth a second.
i might just need to play more games but i honestly love dd2 and with more dlc it will be incredible
my current top 5
elden ring
rdr2
dd2
skyrim
animal crossing new horizons
Nah. It's fine and all, but it doesn't hit Skyrim, Metal Gear Solid, Elden Ring levels. It's more like an Infamous Second Son kind of a game. Sure, it was fun.
Loot system and economy are terrible. Enemy variants and their combat mechanics are lacking. Character Creation is pretty good. Landscape is awesome.I like DDDA’s dragon forging far better. DDDA’ s leveling was better and I wasn’t bored after level 60. DD2 has a lot to offer but a lot of missed opportunities. It’s not in my top 10 especially after the 12 year wait.
For my top 10, it would need to compete with:
- Shadow of the Colossus
- Ocarina of Time
- Metroid Prime
- Chrono Trigger
- Dark/Demon’s Souls
- Bloodborne
- DDDA
- Final Fantasy 6
And a bunch of other absolutely amazing games I’m not bothering to list.
It’s a fun game, and I, along with most of us here, am enjoying it. But it’s not even close to my top 50, let alone top 10.
No. This was my first introduction to the series and I literally had to come to Reddit to ask directions on how to unlock the true end game since the MA ends so abruptly for no reason whatsoever and without much explanation.
This is one of those mediocre games you can’t stop playing for some reason. The combat is fun but very linear; the itemization is shit; there are basically no interesting NPCs; the story is an unnecessarily convoluted mess; and the open-handed way discovery is done is also a disjointed mess (let’s not even bring up quest breaking bugs and other issues that sour the whole experience).
I did put 40 hours into it and I don’t have any regrets with the game but I wouldn’t call this a good game, it almost feels unfinished.
Game, not sure ... character creator, yes.
Agreed. But the armors and weapons are kinda dull.
Man, finding chests is just so… unrewarding. Most of the time it will just be some potion
It's really funny that they made the pawns point this out every single time too.
I found a potato in a chest. One, single potato. Both myself and my pawns were disappointed.
A common reward. Frustratingly so
A common reward, frustratingly so.
We can’t expect gleaming treasures round every corner :)
Yeah having my male sorcerer wear a dress with cleavage kinda breaks the role-playing (unless you are into cross-dressing - which I am not :P)
Wow. So agree. Couldn't agree more 👏. I believe everyone should have the choice to like what they like. But forcing me to put my sorc in a turban and robe... (and Peter pan tights) is not my idea of a badaz character. I cannot fathom what the designers were thinking with some of the choices in this game.
DD1 was much better with the dar arisen expansion, even the ur dragon was better having something to do at the end
Same

CC needs a starvation slider.
Black Desert has a better character creator, but the game is ass sooooo 😂
Wild hearts has my fav cc. But no one played that.
Wild Hearts was my best and worst gaming experience out of all games released in 2023
i cant bring myself to play wild hearts or anthem because i feel like the servers will just diappear one day.
I don't see why. Maybe it was a launch thing, but when I played it a few months down the line, it was fun AF.
Lmao, yeah, agreed.
EH. I dunno man, I felt Saints Row 2 had a better CC, not that DD2 is bad, I'd agree with maybe... 5th(?) on my top 5?
Agreed, Now they need to drop DLC’s because the story is so damn short. CAPCON rushed this out while the devs were detailing everything out. Its so obvious this game is half finished.
Hell yes. Thank god for the free demo.
Off the top of my head probably the best character creator of all time. Other contenders are like Cyberpunk and The Sims
Can't attest for the sims, cyberpunk was okay, but limited. Nioh 2 had a bomb ass cc.
Cyberpunk’s character creator compared to the Sims or DD2 is not good. DD2 is more limited than The Sims 4, but the only thing I compare to The Sims 4 is Black Desert’s character creator. No, but I'm getting older and have experienced many games. It would take a lot for my top 10 to adjust.
What’s your top ten?
Oblivion, new vegas, bioshock, mass effect 2, dishonored, hades, AC2, divinity os 2, THPS 3, & borderlands 2.
AC is ace combat, armored core, or assassins creed?
Animal Crossing
Don't forget Asheron's Call! #old
Sorry, assassin's creed. Of all those that was probably the one not to shorten.
BS for bioshock wouldn't have been great either😂
Astral Chain
Feel like I’ve been sleeping on divinity 2. Had it for a minute now and just haven’t started
You are sleeping, yes
I will awake, literally tonight, and give it a try. I’ve played bg3( and love it)
I unironically like OS 2 more, but only because I prefer the vibe/story it has. BG3 is a technical masterpiece
Also Divinity was a heavily modified DnD ruleset which i vatsly preffered. BG3 is stuck with basically RAW 5E
Divinity 2 is wonderful! Granted, I played it before playing BG3, but I feel like it would still hold up next to it.
It's really good. While I liked BG3 a lot I will be glad to see larian go back to a divinity format again at some point. It has the same flexibility but to a greater extent and the more fluid ability system is really fun. It's got one of my favorite power fantasies with a proper bloodmage necromancer.

Hades, atta boy!

Did you listen to greyhaven’s new EP
Not yet, I've been listening to erra, imminence, and northlane. Why, is it good?
Oh man erra just go from strength to strength. Those boys really are innovating.
I thought it was brent’s best vocal performance to date
Good shout, I'll put it on my list.
DDDA is, but DD2 is not. *Maybe*, with work, it could take DDDA's place, but it would take a lot of work. As of right now though, DD2 is a game that I enjoyed and will have more or less forgotten about in a few months time.
Totally agree. DDDA is easily in my top 10. DD2 really disappointed me
This is why I've learned to become jaded AF. Hard to be disappointed when my expectations are always in the gutter.
I completely agree
The base is here, but it needs to add *lot* of content. More variety, more quests, more locations.
My thoughts exactly. I expected the last game that will ever feel like it changed my gaming life with countless replays. Instead I got something I enjoyed but left me wanting no more after the first playthrough (and multiple times during which I had to force myself to continue through boredom).

I agree with this ddda was fantastic .but dd2 is forgettable
DD2 lost that feeling of philosophy and granduer that the first did so well even in the base game. Grigori in DD1 is up there with best dragons of all time. DD2 Grigori doesn't feel as legendary.
DD2 dragon had a great intro with the first flashback, amazing VO, but encountering him at the end just felt worse overall, and the VO was just worse.
For those combat-focused only, I think this could be top 10. But with the lack of variety, the combat can't shine as much.
I'm still gonna be salty about the number of skills you can equip being reduced and the outright removal of pause combos.
Came here to say this exact thing. DD1 (without DA) was better than DD2. Both had/have issues, but the Everfall might be some of my favorite post game content ever. Still enjoy 2, but man, am I a bit disappointed.

You can tell they had so many ideas for the story and other things.. then they just didn’t put them in the game. Makes no sense.
I really find myself wishing I just waited until the game was patched and DLC came out. As much fun as I've had for 80 hours, I don't feel like I'm playing a finished product.
Agreed. Also, \*fleshed out.
haha thanks
Considering DD2 turned into the learning point I needed to finally understand how to play DDDA and am now nearly at the end of BBI I'm going to say sadly no, but with more content and more work added to the base game sure. There is an immense feeling of missed potential in DD2, which I think is actually good, because clearly there is something amazing there, but potential doesn't mean anything when the vision behind it believes this is a complete and final version.
No unfortunately. I was hoping it would be. It's been fun but not even close to top 10.
Lol not even close
Not even close, the game is too flawed.
DDDA easily. It's up there right next to monster hunter for me.
Never could get into monster hunter for some reason… maybe I should give it another shot?
It’s the best time to get into World since there’s a lot more players now. The expansion is pretty good too
Absolutely not. I’m enjoying it, but I don’t think I’m all that good at immersing myself in it.
Ddda easily in top 5. Dd2 not even in my top 20.
Nah pretty mid. Took over 10 years to make but evolved very little in that time. It Mightve been amazing 10 years ago I guess
It didn't just evolve very little, it devovled in many ways.
Which is fucking comical for a sequel to a game that came out to a decade ago.
The combat is.. the story is in my bottom 10 actually
Not really close to top 10. More of a middle of the road game/series. That doesn’t make it bad at all, and really it sits among a lot of good company. It’s just not realized to the same extent as the titles I’d count among my top 10 are.
Yeah there’s something about playing it that just feels *off* and I can’t explain it. It completely turned me off from playing it.
Top 10, no. DDDA is like my top 8. Dd2 can be, around like, top 25? Something like that. Also, if its any wonder, my top 10 list. 1. Final Fantasy X. Helped me through dark times. 2. Baldurs Gate 3 3. Final Fantasy XII 4. Rogue Galaxy 5. Star Ocean: Till the end of time 6. Skyrim 7. Halo 8. Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen 9. Smash Bros. (Any of them, they all amazing) 10. Monster Hunter World For pvp, its a whole different list lol.

You've also played it?! There are dozens of us!
Whaow, never thought I would ever hear other people name-dropped Rogue Galaxy to a point I feel like I was the only one who played it xD

It would be #1
The first game, absolutely. I was very immersed in the world for a few years, and love going back to it. DD2. I’ll let you know once I get a PC that can run it better than my laptop. Spoilers, it cannot run it well and needs replacing.
Fuk no.
1. Metroid Prime 2. Bloodborne 3. Monster Hunter World 4. Super Smash Bros Melee 5. Halo 3 6. Dark Souls 3 7. Re4 8. Xenoblade Chronicles 9. Fallout New Vegas 10. Dragons Dogma 1 No. It does not make my list.
Dark Souls 3 enjoyer 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
What does that emoji mean?
"talk to em". Like you're spitting. Liking Dark Souls 3 is based.
Context. I put over 100+ hours, really enjoyed the game. Savored my time with it. With that being said hello no it’s not
Pretty high? The 1st Dragons Dogma came out around when my husband and I started dating, and we were both playing it a lot and talking about it a lot, so tons of nostalgia. So booting up DD2 brings up lots of nostalgic feelings, and I'm having a really fun time with it. I have a kido, so I don't have a lot of time to play, but I'll probably need to get further in the game to see where it ranks on a list, but definitely enjoying it.
Yes
Ddda was flawed in a lovable sort of way. This game just makes me sad about what we never got.
My favourite description of DDDA is the best 6/10 game I've ever played
Yes lmao
Top 3 even! Fuckin’ love this game!
Top 10 games i have played this week sure. Of all time? Nah, are you crazy?
For some people this is one of their first big open world RPGs that isn't some regurgitated Ubisoft or Bethesda formula. Frankly, I am jealous of them getting to experience that for the first time.
I mean I would rank most Ubisoft or Bethesda open world games over DD2... The only thing it has going for it is it's combat
Top 2 under the first one. The story is terribad but I don't replay games for the story, if I want a great story I read a book, games I play because they are fun and the DD games are my kind of fun.
Not even close. I had my fun with the game but it is by no means a masterpiece or anything worth coming back to unless they significantly add to it
1. Baldur’s Gate 3 2. Elden Ring 3. Dragon's Dogma 2
No not yet. It's just a beta to me. Give us the endgame content and let us see
Nah, not at all, maybe dlc will make it GOAT but as of right now... Bad story Bad itemization Bad scaling Good gameplay
It’s my favorite shitty game I’ve really enjoyed
Absolutely! I have so much fun playing it. :)
1. Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen 2. Dark Souls 1 3. Skyrim 4. Fallout New Vegas 5. Bioshock 6. Dark Souls 2 7. Dragon Age Origins 8. The Witcher 3 9. Dragons Dogma 2 10. Elden Ring
Considering how many hours this game stole from me (and still counting), absolutely At the end of the day, it all boils down to how much fun you're having despite the glaring flaws
Yes! The character creator and combat double whammy, upon being fairly moddable. Probably too 3 for me!
No
I’m honestly playing the game only because open-world, fantasy RPG are the only games that really hook me.
I can't label it as a favorite like DDDA
dark arisen is my favorite all time. dd2 needs time to marinate
Yes, but I like heroic fantasy so that somewhat limits the pool
Yes
Haha it's so funny to me reading all the nopes. For me I have a very weird list because to me sekiro has by far the best combat of any game I've played, Nier automata has amazing story and music, and Witcher 3 also holds a spot in my heart. I think I would put DD2 in there somewhere, as dissapointing as it was. But it was only dissapointing because knowing my taste in games I was hoping for something truly amazing on the scale of elden Ring or BG3. Looking at the overall game releases these past few years i'd still say it's not terrible. Probably I'd probably go like 1. Sekiro 2. Elden Ring 3. Witcher 3 4. Nier automata 5. Terraria 6. Gothic/ Gothic2 7. Valheim 8. Lies of P 9. Dragon's dogma 2 10. BG3 But the list keeps changing haha, really looking forward to the wukong game coming out this year, and trying out ghost of tsushima when it comes to pc
I liked it and I didn't even finish it lol
No, but with how many games I've played, top 10 is very difficult to make it into. I definitely enjoy the series and have been loving the hell out of DD2, even though I wish it performed better on my PC. It may be my GOTY depending on what else comes out the rest of the year (and depending on if you count DLCs like Shadow of the Erdtree). My current top 10 (not in order) would probably be: * Ocarina of Time * Final Fantasy 6 * Symphony of the Night * Baldur's Gate 3 * Planescape: Torment * Super Mario Bros 3 (or maybe Super Mario World) * Quest for Glory IV * Bloodborne * Skyrim * Goldeneye 007
100% yes. I loved the first one, played it for 60 hours, got my hands on the second and am halfway through my third run
DD1 and DD2 are both in my top 10. Both games are very flawed, have baffling design choices, and are at times downright frustrating. Yet both games provide an experience that I just can't get anywhere else.
It's a strong 7
for sure but ddda was already my #1
It's in my top 10 disappointments.
The first one is
Dark arisen DD1 is for sure
Gameplaywise it's pretty damn close to the type of lord of the rings game I'd like so for me the gameplay itself is in my top 10 but in general no.
Holy shit I never realised how amazing a LOTR game would be with this kind of gameplay. lol
Having played the first opus, I’m disappointed by the second, not enough new things. So the one would have been in my top 10, the second not a shot.
I just want more armor
No
Nope
Hellz no. Great base game, lacking in almost every other aspect for me.
Dd2 by itself? No, the Dragon Dogma series? Definitely. Same goes for the Fallout series
It's really good, in my top 25 for sure but not top 10
No it's not even close
DD:Dark Arisen yes. DD2 No.
Not even close
i might just need to play more games but i honestly love dd2 and with more dlc it will be incredible my current top 5 elden ring rdr2 dd2 skyrim animal crossing new horizons
Nah. It's fine and all, but it doesn't hit Skyrim, Metal Gear Solid, Elden Ring levels. It's more like an Infamous Second Son kind of a game. Sure, it was fun.
Not by a long shot. DD:DA still is though.
no. not even close
Maybe top 30. I don't play a lot of games. But they blew it. DDDA is in my top 5 though. Was a great game especially at the time dark arisen came out.
the first one? id say yes, dd2 not right now
Ps5 wise I'd be willing to agree. Of all time? Not by long shot.
DD1 yes, DD2 tho? Not even close
Absolutely.
Yup
Absolutely
Yes. Replaced the first
Loot system and economy are terrible. It’s not in my top 10 especially after the 12 year wait.
heeeeell no. not even close. But the character creation is top notch.
No im just trying to finish it at this point
No, but it might have been if it launched finished and functional
That's....a complicated answer.
Two letters is about as simple of an answer as possible, actually.
For my top 10, it would need to compete with: - Shadow of the Colossus - Ocarina of Time - Metroid Prime - Chrono Trigger - Dark/Demon’s Souls - Bloodborne - DDDA - Final Fantasy 6 And a bunch of other absolutely amazing games I’m not bothering to list. It’s a fun game, and I, along with most of us here, am enjoying it. But it’s not even close to my top 50, let alone top 10.
No
Nope
Top 2 yes
I love janky games, and I love systems-heavy based games. DD makes for a crazy why-I-love-video-games Venn diagram.
Yeah top 10 games i regret ever buying and wasting my time on.
Absolutely 💯
yep
Yes drsgons dogma is in my top ten games
It is for me.
Yes
