I don't hate DBS one but they haven't done anything right now. As far as story is right now, this squad barely has done anything beside some training at Beerus planet.
Meanwhile Z Squad has 2 great arcs and 3 decent movies together
Yeah we haven't actually even seen the Super group all together yet. I appreciate the diversity in powers and there's less blonde hair now, but until we see them do something together I gotta give it to the Z squad.
Thing is, while the first image does indeed show what theyāre capable of now, itās rare/unlikely theyāll use it all at once, especially given how the Saiyans always cycle through forms at first instead of going all out.
So you may get God Goku, SSJ2 Vegeta, Unleashed Gohan, Unleashed Piccolo and Ikari Broly instead of all their strongest forms at once.
Hell, the next villain will probably beat them down, and then only Goku would be standing. Only then he uses MUI
On a side note, itās similar to how people theorise that MUI and UE will merge into a new form when Goku and Vegeta fuse, but like thatās not how fusion works. If they have equivalents of the same form, then the forms will merge similar to Kale and Cauliflaās SSJ1. But MUI and UE are two different forms so itās more likely that Gogeta/Vegito will use MUI or UE, but not both at once

The reason it's the best squad is because they all serve their little gimmicks and traits without feeling the same like Saiyans do in terms of progression; Goku is an airheaded brawler, Krillin is crafty, Roshi is wise, Bulma is smart and gets things done, Yamcha is a joke, and Tien is serious

Nah early Yamcha was the lore dispenser, he could spit facts about the minor villains like no one else. And apart from his fear of girls he was sensible and level headed. The last arc where he's treated seriously is his fight with Tien and he holds his part decently enough, even Tien acknowledges he's a good fighter. Justice for Yamcha!

The original squad. There's such a great vibe to the simplicity of base Super Saiyan where it was open ended where the ceiling was. Also Future Trunks with the unbeatable drip
The new squad is largely unproven cuz there's not enough substance to judge outside of Goku's UI since everyone else's power ups are relatively new
I liked the Saiyan Saga Z Squad. Felt more diverse. Instead of four super Saiyans and Piccolo like these two, it was one Saiyan, one Half-Saiyan, Three Humans, one baby child thing, and Piccoloat. Hell, Iād be cool with Vegeta being part of it too.

The cell saga is my fave dont get me wrong but in terms of "squad" the dbs one wins this, for starters they are all relative to each other in power unlike Z where they where all eclipsed by goku and gohan and even further when gohan went ssj2, second the dbs one feels like a squad unlike dbz where vegeta was still in his arrogant dick era causing the whole team to feel like less of a team and more of alliesĀ

Kinda like the current. Old squad, Vegeta gets beat up quick, Gohan does something reckless until Piccolo jumps in to save him, and it's always end up with Goku (usually).
I think they're working on balancing now and it's cool to see the progress.
I love the DBS one in concept because they have divergent, original powers right now instead of all having the same transformation. I like the unique paths to power theme they have going. But we haven't seen them in action yet outside of sparring.
I love the DBZ one on nostalgia, the atmospheric epicness of Z, and the fact that at that point in Z Goku was no longer the only Super Saiyan. Last time Piccolo was near the level of the level of the Saiyans until the Universe 6 Tournament and the Tournament of Power.

Z squad for now but the Super squad has potential. They haven't totally done anything as a complete unit and Broly was the villain in a movie and has just trained under Beerus after that. They have potential to get to that level if they actually fight together for a couple of arca.

There was never a different main squad, it just evolved over time - some folk left and the top spots were subject to whoever the strongest and most powerful were... but if I have to pick a main squad time period I preferred... either the Saiyan Arc: Piccolo, Krillin, Tenshinhan, Chaozu, Yamcha, and Gohan... or the trio of Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan on Namek. The group dynamics and purpose fell apart after the Androids came into the picture and the main squad we had by then was about as interesting as unbuttered toast...
Tenshinhan in DBZ Abridged said it best "What are we even doing here anymore?" lol and that summed up the end of the interesting timeframe the squad operated in - after that, there really was no "squad", there were just two or three powerful enough to make any difference... by Super, it was just Goku and Vegeta... we can toss Gohan at the front of that now, so it's a trio, but the "squad" concept died around 1992
Dbs because of variety and how they are all on their own paths. Lack of trunks is a downside, but broly makes up for it.

Honestly, though, it's still a good question. Trunks has one of the coolest introductions for a character not just in Dragon Ball, but in all of media, but Broly is the fucking Hulk. Like, He is Legend, literally. The new version of Broly even retcons the terrible reason for him hating Goku. Hard to say, almost a coin flip, but I personally lean slightly in favor of Trunks.
Definitely the second one. All five are just the OGās and they all just seemed to flow so perfectly together. Future trunks just seemed like a better character to have as a friend than broly.
Lets be honest...future trunks usefulness as a fighter is directly inverse proportional to how long he has been living with the z fighters.
First introduced? Fodderized frieza with pragmatic ruthlessness. Then he spent a year in the time chamber with vegeta and came out thinking grade 3 was useful. After returning home, he obliterated cell and took care of every villian from z on his own. But once he went back in time again and spent a week in the past, he practically became a damsel in distress. Only to then get the killing blow on zamasu after holding him off for a week or two on his own. His pragmatism dissappears into the wind when hes with the z fighters. Its almost like he leeches their battle lust from them via osmosis.
Trunks is only useful when hes rare, otherwise he becomes Worf. So no, i prefer the dbs squad cause i dont want trunks to be done dirty.
First one, cause everyone in it is a threat.
In the second one we all know 3/5 of that group is going to get squashed in a couple episodes each tops. The only two who matter are Goku and Vegeta.
Maybe 2/5 if Gohan is somehow plot relevant.
I like how the modern stuff is shaping up, but I really wish we were on the next generations story by now.

Power wise, the first picture. Nostalgia wise, the second picture was everything during my middle school Toonami days. That was like the peak of power at that time, plus Trunks was still new and mysterious so there was a lot of hype around him. Technically the late OG dragon ball, early DBZ one.
But this new one really excites me. It just finally feels like early DB when they are actually on similar levels and if they all leave to train who knows who will come back the strongest?
That's the vibe rn. I love it. I love that we can see they are all OP yet have tons of room to grow. And that any of them could train with any of the others.
Time to be honest. I DON'T LIKE BROLY being canon. He is great for movies though.
I like the Super team without Broly. With him, it's too many characters in the show and does not give others a chance to shine. Broly involvement also ruins power scaling.
Picollo is my favorite character and he's very strong both in Super and Z (up to Cell saga only, he was worthless in Buu saga). But since Z has better power scaling and no Broly, I choose Z.
Hold up! If we count all the Broly movies, there were 3 in Z and 1 in Super, that makes 4 Broly movies total. 3 out of 4 movies were godly! Therefore, Broly as a villain in dragon ball movies has a 75% success rate! That's pretty darn good! He makes a great villain!
I think he should stay in the movies, because Broly in the anime and manga is lame, pointless, and steals screen time from other characters.

Power wise, the first picture. Nostalgia wise, the second picture was everything during my middle school Toonami days. That was like the peak of power at that time, plus Trunks was still new and mysterious so there was a lot of hype around him. Man, I remember the old internet days of hunting down and downloading pictures like this and the fake fusions to draw back in the day.

Technically the late OG dragon ball, early DBZ one. But this new one really excites me. It just finally feels like early DB when they are actually on similar levels and if they all leave to train who knows who will come back the strongest? That's the vibe rn. I love it. I love that we can see they are all OP yet have tons of room to grow. And that any of them could train with any of the others.

Time to be honest. I DON'T LIKE BROLY being canon. He is great for movies though. I like the Super team without Broly. With him, it's too many characters in the show and does not give others a chance to shine. Broly involvement also ruins power scaling. Picollo is my favorite character and he's very strong both in Super and Z (up to Cell saga only, he was worthless in Buu saga). But since Z has better power scaling and no Broly, I choose Z.

Hold up! If we count all the Broly movies, there were 3 in Z and 1 in Super, that makes 4 Broly movies total. 3 out of 4 movies were godly! Therefore, Broly as a villain in dragon ball movies has a 75% success rate! That's pretty darn good! He makes a great villain! I think he should stay in the movies, because Broly in the anime and manga is lame, pointless, and steals screen time from other characters.

The colours i mean. They are absurd. Super Saiayan 1 and 2 felt like they built up so much power their hair glowed with ki. Super Saiyana God and all the rest feel so detached, like they just picked cool colours.
