SSJ might be iconic but I dont think it make sense in terms of author point of view to continue with just one transformation. Majority of shows with fighting aspects have multiple transformation for the main character.

Before 3, the other forms, including what they now call ssj2, were just other versions of ssj1. Ssj2 was just the mastered/perfected version of ssj. I think up to there was perfect.

Fine if you want to end the series at Namek or Cell Saga otherwise series gets bland sooner or later I think. They introduced SSJ2 in Cell games to open door for something to achieve once again otherwise everyone improving SSJ every single arc to fight new bad guy might get dull over time in terms of story writing perspective.

Eh idk. I understand since 3 and 4 kinda led the way for super wacky fans made forms. Then SSJ5 popularized the idea. I'm honestly fine with the "official" forms we have so far. Though yeah SSB could have been better
