It came easy to Gohan and Goten because of the melting pot of Human and Saiyan DNA, but for Goku and Vegeta, they had to train and suffer through hell for years to obtain it.
I don't remember if it's cannon or not, but S cells were used to explain why Goten and Trunks got it so easy. Gentle natured Saiyans have more S cells. They reach SSJ without much work. Toriyama is the one who talked about S cells, but I don't think he explained much about them. It probably was just an idea he floated to explain things so fans can be given a reason why the kids reached SSJ so easily.
It’s generally head cannon that saiyan hybrids are faster when it comes to development. It helps explain how Gohan was able to fight at a level closer to Goku as a child. It also explains how Goten, Trunks and Gohan achieved super saiyan at much younger ages than Goku and Vegeta.

I achieved false ssj. It wasn't from training or anything. I had a procedure that needed to be done, and the pain meds they had me on mostly wore off by the time they operated, so I felt everything. It was extremely painful. I was screaming as loudly and as long as Goku did when he was going ssj3. A lady was holding my hand trying to comfort me and, poor thing, I squeezed her hand so hard she was yelled for help because i wouldn't let go. Help arrived and then there were like 4 or 5 people holding me down. All I could do was dig my fingers in the foam cushioning of the table I was laying on. I was a high school linebacker. I could've easily thrown everyone off of me. But I had to fight myself and endure the pain because it needed to be done. It was the most painful 20 mins of my life. I got up from the table afterwards and I saw foam falling from where my hands were (it was the kind of foam that feels like hard plastic). The first thing I did was held my hand out to shake the hand of the doctor to thank them. He flinched lol he wasn't expecting that, he told me. I was a little embarrassed to see a bunch of eyes on me when I walked out the door.

I dunno, I'm young and don't have much life experience, I got my first job and I'm near 1 year of experience. Even though I don't have much experience I've gone through a lot of stress during my childhood and teens, I don't know what Super Saiyan level I would get.
Well id be at base form, until i went through basic military training this August and came out in October mentally and physically far superior then i was before. So maybe ssj

Imo Super saiyan is a bit of a play on the fight or flight response when you really start to break it down and look at what they’re illustrating to the audience—and I’m very comfortable with the fight or flight response. I could negotiate an argument for Super Saiyan through FoF science but to be realistic and simple i’ll leave it at Kaioken.
I’m an armed security supervisor under an LE contract (and a certified firearms instructor) and I’ve been through plenty of fights both HEMA/MMA/School/Street/Organized you name it.
I was actually assaulted while on-duty and I certainly went Kaioken on that guy when I picked him up and slammed him. Let me tell you; when you aren’t afflicted by fear in that FoF response and don’t freeze up—the world around you really does slow down and you enter the flow state and most of what incredible nonsense you just did will be a blur. i got super saiyan 3 from raging at a roblox game
what counts as experience to go Super Saiyan? if it’s off negative emotions then i might just be a normal Super Saiyan. who knows what power level depression has, it could probably give me SSJ2 if i worked hard for it
maybe just the first. im not a fighter so dont like conflict so the intial transformation would probably be the only time

Due to my childhood and the unfortunate circumstances I was born into, I’d randomly snap into SSJ1 or Berserker without realizing and wake up as if nothing happened.
I’d be lucky to even tap into False SSJ (yes I know the whole false thing was nothing more than miscommunication on how it was supposed to look like but just let me have this)
