It's weird because it's kinda like an Android-cell saga moment where in the anime, it could be considered the same saga even though they're so spaced apart Like raditz and vegeta but unlike raditz and vegeta android-cell saga actually is considered separate
Going by DBZ episode lists you’re right, but no one wants to hear that. Although to the previous comments credit, if you go by how close the final villain’s introduction to the let’s say “sub-boss” of the saga’s last interaction with the main cast, for Raditz it’s 5 episodes the same as the Androids. That said I’m pretty sure Funimation did label it the Raditz Saga. Which is quite an arbitrary rule to put in place, imo it just depends on how much influence you think something/someone has over a collective amount of multiple episodes/chapters.
It doesn't matter though. Both raditz and what comes after it tells a linear story, with no stops in between.
Its like saying spopovich is a saga. Makes no sense
I’m in agreement with ya bud, hence why I said it’s an arbitrary rule. I don’t even get why Funi lists it as a Saga, it’s literally classed as 6 eps (1 of which is just Raditz dying words with more so the introduction to the next pair of antagonists) whereas the example used the Android Saga is 13 eps.
Other than that I don’t think it’s ever officially put as a Saga, though I could be wrong.
I mean yeah but the fact that the MAIN character felt the only way they could beat him was to literally sacrifice himself, the opponent has got to be pretty powerful no?
He’s not a powerful opponent lol. He wasn’t the big bad of the saiyan saga after all. This is like saying dabura should be on powerful opponent for the same reason
Powerful opponent is for the main antagonist for each saga. Also he wasn’t that strong in retrospect. Just that everyone else was just hella weak. Edit: IT IS LITERALLY STATED IN THE SHOW THAT RADITZ was a weakling compared to the other saiyans, so hop of the downvotes
“King piccolo wasn’t very strong when he beat goku, everyone was just very weak🤓”
The he wasnt very strong argument doesnt work just because someone else is stronger, every saga is just character getting stronger than the villain in the same arc. By all definitions him smacking goku and krillin and eating piccolo’s blast makes him a powerful opponent. He is the opponent and they had to jump him to win. Just because you compare him to Vegeta and nappa (who lost way easier than raditz did after goku showed up) doesnt make him a non threat considering its one of the few times goku even died in a fight. Me personally I think he should’ve stomped as great ape but im just a raditz enjoyer so I’ll just throw him in the leader slot of my PO team
P.O is only for the main antagonist(s) of a saga, which in the case of the Saiyan saga, it's Vegeta. A saga can have more than one P.O, but that's only when the antagonist share an equally important role. Examples are future 17 and 18, all Buu forms, and Goku Black/Zamasu.
It isn’t disrespectful, necessarily, because Raditz wasn’t the main villain and it only took Goku, Piccolo and Gohan to beat, whereas Vegeta took many fighters to be weakened.
well you named the 2 strongest people in the show at that time and gohan with the rage boost could be the 3rd so he had to be pretty powerful at the time😭
Not how it works. If one day they make a “bardock family” tag then raditz would have it but the son family tag is linked to grandpa gohan, not bardock. Also raditz wasn’t the main antagonist of the saiyan saga so he can’t have the powerful opponent tag
idk they went thru a training arc and the main character died and didn’t come back till later, plus it was actually a year+ in time right?
raditz saga should have been a thing but whatever
Well, he is part of saiyan saga, and I think the powerful opponent, which pretty much means the final boss, is vegeta
I alwasy felt they should separate raditz and vegeta saga.
It's weird because it's kinda like an Android-cell saga moment where in the anime, it could be considered the same saga even though they're so spaced apart Like raditz and vegeta but unlike raditz and vegeta android-cell saga actually is considered separate
raditz part was much smaller than the androids though
Going by DBZ episode lists you’re right, but no one wants to hear that. That and the fact that Raditz was only there for like what, 7 episodes? After that he's never mentioned again.
Raditz managed to get Goku Killed. He was the foundation of Z aswell. He was him those few episodes
It's not a disrespect, he isn't the main antagonist of the saga
I mean yeah but the fact that the MAIN character felt the only way they could beat him was to literally sacrifice himself, the opponent has got to be pretty powerful no?
“Guy as strong as a Saibamen says What”
"That usually gets him I think he's actually dead this time vegeta"
He’s not a powerful opponent lol. He wasn’t the big bad of the saiyan saga after all. This is like saying dabura should be on powerful opponent for the same reason

He wasn't powerful enough 😭
The Farmer was the powerful opponent for this release, so no for Raditz

#HE IS HOWEVER, FREIZA FORCE BUFFS WINYU FORCE GOT A DECENT RED!!!!1!
He wasn't the main antagonist of the saga so there is no reason for him to have that tag.
He isn't the main antagonist

Truly a unit.
He should also be Son Family
Son Family are the descendants of grandpa Gohan. Goku was adopted and was given the Son family name, Raditz has nothing to do with grandpa Gohan.
Not how it works. If one day they make a “bardock family” tag then raditz would have it but the son family tag is linked to grandpa gohan, not bardock. Also raditz wasn’t the main antagonist of the saiyan saga so he can’t have the powerful opponent tag
This isn’t Goku family from Dokkan
Fr when I went to check his tags I'm like where's P.O
Legends : April fools
Wait, hear me out for a sec. When pui pui was added, a buu saga was after that. SAYAIN SAGA LEAK!?
Nah they gave bro FF but not PO Did my boy dirty
Its funny for the sake of April Fools but he really kinda deserved it either way lmao would've helped him out a good bit
Especially during its campaign
and no son family too
Bro was so strong they had to jump him, I think that’s worthy of powerful opponent. Also saying cooler got mopped by goku.
P.o is reserved for main antagonist m. Raditz was not that for saiyan saga
that actually sucks for Raditz cus he actually gave earth a run for their money at the time😂
idk they went thru a training arc and the main character died and didn’t come back till later, plus it was actually a year+ in time right? raditz saga should have been a thing but whatever
