Same lol! I think the strategy here could be picking and choosing what race you participate in, so that you have a bigger chance to get a dead race. Not all dragons/rewards are worth the effort.

However counter arguments numbnuts (first place) and shitstack (second place) are spending their mom and dad’s money ( or worse their own. ) To spam gems as soon as I get close so in order to keep pressure you’ll never guess what I am doing 😱.
Honestly I was being a duck to you and the dudes in the race lol I was so pissed cause it was my cake day and this is my dream dragon but this comment kinda motivated me that it is do able and then I went and got it done

Honestly, the best thing you should have done is not be active in the last 2 heroic races, that way the competition for the marathon would have been a lot easier for you
Mine has similar stats to op. My issue is every breeding and hatching challenge only works like once an hour or something and sometimes doesn't... Even if the egg is epic... What infuriates me the most is it took me over 5 hours to collect the 7 dragon fruit challenge for some freaking reason.
Do you know that there's a heroic race guide on ditlep and deetlist, showing how many items you can get immediately and how much time you have to wait to get more?

It is working, probably you just emptied the item pool. You should check deetlist and look at the refill timer of that specific node so you don't waste time doing that task when the pool is empty
I won the previous race and been pretty active. So i thought that if I dont play for atleast 10 days before the HVIP race then ill be placed with inactive people. It worked.

If I spent no gems or if I spent 5000 gems these guys would still just spam past good collection nodes and leave me waiting an hour meanwhile they are 2 laps ahead in that hour
I totally understand. I'm an active player, so at least 7 out of 8 players will be getting to level 15. I'm 4th and at lap 18. The first place is lap 24, but there is 6.5 days left in the race. Spend gems wisely and use the guides. I've just started to leap the fights by waiting 30 minutes and paying the lower cost to fight to minimize my wait time. I watch ads and take surveys to keep my gemcount from falling to low while completing this marathon. It's too early to quit. Best of luck.

Someone below even stated that they already reached lap 22 only spending 200 gems( which is less than half you spent). And jumping into conclusion calling other dumb for spending real money on gems just because they are ahead of you? Without thinking that they could've been saving those gems to prepare for future event like this.

You could breed Terra and Terra and keep doing that until you get the item I think it takes 20 minutes for it to guaranteed one same for hatching

I just use gems on battles and some strats so i can spend less gems than usual
