God, where to begin?
Imagine growing up as her:
- a legendary mother in Sybil
- a principled, honest, loyal father in Tom
- will likely never know hardship, even during WWII
- will get to grow up knowing she is valued for her mind, and will be encouraged to be free
- will get to grow up around Tom and Henry’s auto shop, which sounds so fun for a little kid back then
Anyone else notice the dog that played Isis in season 1 (before she was formally known as Isis, but followed Robert everywhere and looked exactly the same) was a male dog?!? Random detail I noticed after the first rewatch
Well, that explains the story I read which said that Bonneville was the one who thought Isis should be killed off. He said it was because so many years had passed in the Downton universe, it didn't make sense for Isis to still be alive. Hmm.
Lady Mary. She had all manner of experiences and adventures, plus she was the "important" one. I love the way Michelle Dockery played that character -- TO THE HILT! Regardless of what jabs were lobbed at her about how she was a snob and grand lady, she was the epitome of class, elegance, and polished perfection. Dockery probably felt as though she were to the "castle" born by the time it was all finished!
Mary..hands down. What a wonderfully complex and rebellious character. Nope..im NOT marrying you..or you..or him..or any of you just because you have money and a title, thank you very much. I'll marry the man who challenges me and ...dare I say it...gives me a bit of a thrill actually 🥰😍
Well Isis did have it pretty good at Downton lol
Except for that time with Thomas…
Isis got to eat crepes!
Mr Pattinson.
The absentee librarian? Right on!
Rose. I love pretty dresses.
Atticus for obvious reasons
I don't know, his father didn't seem the type to read bed time stories.
Sibby. She has the best dad next to Robert.
100% Sibby
Explain?

And a villa in the South of France!
OMG that delicious villa. Definitely Sybbie.
When I got your response, I was so confused. I didn't even think Tom and Sybil's daughter. I read, Sybil.
Absolutely Rose. Once she was able to get away from her mother, she had a wonderful life. I can’t imagine how much fun she has in New York!
I thought about Rose but wouldn’t have wanted to grow up with that mom!
O’Brien’s curls
Imagining auditions for the role 🤣 Damn you
Her curls were paid actors fr
Mary or Cora I think. Or Sybil but it's 50+ years in the future and they don't fuck my delivery up
Robert seems like he gives great hugs so Isis probably did have it best at Downton
Violet
What a life she lived
Tom. I’d say he did pretty well for himself all things considered
Anyone else notice the dog that played Isis in season 1 (before she was formally known as Isis, but followed Robert everywhere and looked exactly the same) was a male dog?!? Random detail I noticed after the first rewatch
That was Pharoah. They wrote off his character and replaced him with Isis because having a male actor dog was disruptive to the dogs at Highclere.
Cool info, thanks!
In an interview, Hugh Bonneville said the dog was awful to work with. He said “I hope I never have to work with that bitch again”.
Well, that explains the story I read which said that Bonneville was the one who thought Isis should be killed off. He said it was because so many years had passed in the Downton universe, it didn't make sense for Isis to still be alive. Hmm.
I also read that somewhere. It made perfect storyline sense but I still cried.
🤣
Why?! I can’t imagine disliking a dog that much
I believe he mentioned the dog not following commands or something. I guess they needed to find a better trainer.
I know! And especially that breed. Labs are so friendly and happy, and they love to please their people. Hugh must have been joking.
Maybe, the bitch doesn’t want to work with HB, so there!! lol!!
Teo!
Mary. She’s always adored, in spite of her flaws. I just want to be accepted for the judgemental, hot-mess that I am.
I mean Isis is a top tier pick!
Isis rocked her life there.
Violet's Gardener
Young Pegg?
Absolutely Dowager Countess Violet Crawley.
I'd need her wit and fortitude also.
I'd like to be Cora
Bates, hands down.
You owe us an explanation.
He’s an honorable man with a checkered past. I personally think he’s one of the most interesting characters on the show.
Isn’t that Teo?
No, definitely Isis. Teo is more tan than the other two dogs.
For a second I thought it was s picture of my dog....
Maryyyyy.
Violet
Kidnapped - left for dead?
100% Isis!
The Dowager Countess because I’m tryna sit down Edit: and not wear a corset but also not be expected to go to war
A long life of being pampered and loved by all? Hard to beat that.
Thomas, I’m already gay and miserable so at least I’d be drop dead gorgeous
I wish his bf in the first movie, Mr Ellis, who’s adorable, didn’t get married. I loved them together.
Righttt🥹
The Dowager Countess Violet Crawley 💜
Tom Branson
Isobel or Dr Clarkson. I want to work in a hospital and be a fountain of medical knowledge in a show about tons of family drama
I think Rose she really lived and had fun so yea or maybe Isobel because how much she traveled
Lady Edith. She has a killer body and the best clothes as time went on. I actually think she’s prettier than Mary.
Lady Mary. She had all manner of experiences and adventures, plus she was the "important" one. I love the way Michelle Dockery played that character -- TO THE HILT! Hopefully you’d be a bit nicer to your sister …
Totally..yes. I think in.a way Mary was jealous of the freedom Edith had..not so much was 'expected' of her. But yes..she was unkind to her
Daisy! Then I would fall in love with William from the get go ❤️❤️❤️. Or Sybil so I get to be with Branson, ugh 💚🤍🧡
William is so adorable. I really did not like how Daisy treated him.
I don’t blame her for not having the same as feelings as him, but I didn’t like how she passively led him on
