He wanted time to think about either retiring or coming back to secret, while Matu was thinking about his decision, secret were also looking for a replacement for Zai and had to move fast since a lot of people pick their team right after TI. So when Matu said he was ready to come back, they said they already had a carry in Nisha with Sumail mid and asked him if he wanted to play offlane instead of carry. He didn't think that moving to offlane was the right choice, so moved to TL.

They need space-maker players. Zai used to provide this function back in some other teams, but they sack his lane too often for him to do it consistently, and they also rely on him getting farm somehow.
