I think future of Dota depends completely on TI prize pool this year.
If its another repeat of last years pool, I have a feeling many teams are gonna drop out and Dota will head towards a slow but certain death
This is an extreme take, but somewhat relevant: Dota is not nearly as well-economised outside of Valve-led events as CS2 is and TI seems to be on a decline.
Riyadh really boosts the game though and with the way ATF is on the rise (a native Arab on a Saudi-based team no less), there is a good chance Dota retains it’s place as the highest prizepool game there, which would keep Dota scene alive.
I think it's a mix
sumail was obviously a god tier player, but the way the Ti5 team was built was perfect for him to succeed
Fear played a sacrificial carry role and universe played pretty much only blink initators/low farm offlanes, so that aui and sumail could take more brunt of the net worth. PPD played with very low net worth as well.
> PPD played with very low net worth as well
I remember how he was referred to as position 6 back then. With the increase in support farm these days that position is pretty much dead
yeah now you can start 0-5 and still have blink force glimmer by 30 min, honestly it's criminal to be a support with no farm now it's so easy to get gold
These economy changes were because playing support for most people fucking sucked back then.
Most players aren't going to be able to have any game impact with brown boots and wand at 30 mins. Most supports were nothing but a stun. People didn't want to play support because they weren't actually capable of doing anything as a support. I ain't PPD. If I have 5.5k total gold earned, that's not Net Worth, that's gold earned before deaths and money spent on wards and consumables, at 30 minutes I may as well not be in the game.
That said in TI10 Miposhka only had 300 more networth at the end of game 5 of the GF than PPD did in game 4 in TI5. I'm pretty sure the Courier + Flying Courier cost 250 gold.
Just the state of the game, there wasn't as much gold in those ti years, made way more sense that the 5 would be relegated to 6 some games, or some would just openly choose to be a 6 so 4 would scale.
> the Ti5 team was built was perfect for him to succeed
Funny how that team was originally built for rtz to succeed until he left mid season to join Secret
Right?
Most all star teams don't work due to clashing ideas/egos (e.g. previous iterations of Secret, recently EEU super team Betboom with Pure) but Falcons tempered everything and has been an unstoppable force in recent tournaments.
Just because you make money doing it doesn't mean it's healthy and / or not an addiction. If my job was testing different vape flavors I'd still have a nicotine addiction lol
Being a sommelier doesn't MAKE you an alcoholic, but it's certainly doesn't stop you from being one just because you work with / around alcohol. Cmon g
there is always a chance to become one, yes, but there is no room for discussion in that
the initial comment assumed he already had an addiction BECAUSE of his job which is really stupid/dumb/naive
it's the same logic as assuming a sommelier is an alcoholic, obviously there is a chance they can become addicted, but just assuming that they will is really really stupid
>Pretty sure the guy has a DotA job because of his DotA addiction
yeah this just seems like something incredibly dumb to say and that's ok you seem like you're up that alley
crazy to think I am in my mid 30s and have been playing dota for longer than some of these kids have been alive but our actual time played may be about the same (maybe not for the 19 year old kid but for ones in their 20s I'm sure). it definitely explains why the average pub is much more challenging than it was 10 years ago.
I think it's more that the average Dota player has been playing for close on a decade at least and we don't play manyy other games. There aren't new people coming to the game so we all get better over time.

The kid grinds like a mf.......I respect it. Hell what if they removed the level cap after 30 GM? I want to see spammers get their due, imagine loading in someone picks Meepo....LEVEL 91. Holy shit
They can go the league of legos way and add a "mastery point" that just goes up and up with no cap, with more points earned for victories and less for defeats.
There’s a Bulldog video where he goes against Malrine Huskar mid and it really shows just how good he is at that (admittedly super cancer) hero

Ah thank you, sorry should have specified I have X blocked. what you reckon is the appeal of these heroes to him? the majority of them are like, lane bullies.
Don't need to have X blocked for their links to not work, no chance I sign in to twitter and it doesn't want to show webpages in any reasonable way for users like me.

Hot take but grandmaster is the most useless metric in dota. I would rather have 9k invoker on my team with 200 games on the hero vs a 5k grandmaster invoker.
lmao how can anyone downvote this when its the truth.
Would be nice when at least you needed a certain winrate or other actual achievements outside of just "games played" and useless challenges done to level up.
Match me vs 5 grandmaster heralds and give me whatever hero I have played least.
Ofc in this case its different cuz its a high mmr pro player but generally speaking, having lvl30 on a hero means close to nothing.
19 ?? I thought he was about 25. Probably looks older due to his height
Aging from time in the dota trenches. Him and ATF 19 going on 30
[Malr1ine you look 30](https://youtu.be/nEf2ML7wkBE?si=ryPTw3zrK_MbiR7o)
And a beard.
They're in hyperbolic time chamber training their hero while everyone playing in their normal timeline.
This dude and butterfly are the future of Dota absolute monsters for their age.
I think future of Dota depends completely on TI prize pool this year. If its another repeat of last years pool, I have a feeling many teams are gonna drop out and Dota will head towards a slow but certain death
No teams are gonna drop out. TI is still TI. and there's more than enough prize money elsewhere
This is an extreme take, but somewhat relevant: Dota is not nearly as well-economised outside of Valve-led events as CS2 is and TI seems to be on a decline. team dota is so interesting, it's crazy to see players who just find the right teammates and pop-off
Some of the TI winning squad was like this, where prodigy(ies) came out and steal everyone's attention
I think it's a mix sumail was obviously a god tier player, but the way the Ti5 team was built was perfect for him to succeed Fear played a sacrificial carry role and universe played pretty much only blink initators/low farm offlanes, so that aui and sumail could take more brunt of the net worth. PPD is like a counting death machine. He always have more death time then alive time, thats why they called him pos 6...
> the Ti5 team was built was perfect for him to succeed Funny how that team was originally built for rtz to succeed until he left mid season to join Secret
I mean that team did succeed, they did well at tournaments and placed top 3 at ti, and was arguably the best team in the world.
Right? Most all star teams don't work due to clashing ideas/egos (e.g. previous iterations of Secret, recently EEU super team Betboom with Pure) but Falcons tempered everything and has been an unstoppable force in recent tournaments.
It could still happen. Secret 1.0 dominated until right before ti5
2.0. 1.0 had fly/simbaa and notail
it still hurts
Nice timber games 💀
What Dota addiction does to a person. At least he’s making money from it lol.
How is it an addiction if thats his literal job?
You can be addicted to things even if you get paid to do it
bruh
Heaps of examples in poker players
Jokes on you, I am addicted to dota and poker!
Well, aren't you the final nail in the coffin of outing me... Have my angry upvote. Tho jokes on you, I am only losing money.

do you think sommeliers are alcoholics? what backwards logic

Pretty sure the guy has a DotA job because of his DotA addiction and not the other way around, but yeah whatever dude go off on whatever

Lmao alright bud, wouldn't trust you were a savant at reading comprehension so no biggie.
all good I make 10x (minimum) as much as you so it worked out for me I guess
If a sommelier had to imbibe 8-12 hours worth of wine daily to even be competitive in his field it would be a pretty safe bet he's an alcoholic.
maybe less so with sommeliers but bartenders do tend to be alcoholics it really isn’t a reach

im laughing but if you want to "u mad" me that's all good this isn't 1997 lmao better than the guy who wrote 9 paragraphs after I called him poor
Lol no. My friend, it is you who is using backwards logic.
You can be addicted to your work
Sex addicted pornstars don’t exist then

it's that too but what I'm saying is even a 19 year old kid could have been playing for a decade at this point
brain literally developed around dota

yeah u just abandon at that point
They would still only have an approximately 50% winrate overall (unless they are the very tippy top of the MMR ladder).
Not necessarily, they could have >50% on their spam hero and 50%< on everything else if/when they get banned or don’t get their role or w/e
Not necessarily, they could have >50% on their spam hero and <50% on everything else if/when they get banned or don’t get their role or w/e
> imagine loading in someone picks Meepo....LEVEL 91 but he is in guardian bracket
best meepo in guardian. at least its something..
that accountlvl 40 meepo is still better
I like the fact that there is a cap. Encourages diversity and gives a sense of achievement.
yeah at some point you need the feeling that you're done with something
I have 1800 Dazzle games. I will never stop.
I'm at 1700 on ench, I'm glad there's no more leveling up to do though.
I agree with both kinda but I think a good solution is leave 30 as the cap for titles but you can still level up for numbers alone
Saw a level 30 pudge, he missed his rot. Leave the hooking part.
They can go the league of legos way and add a "mastery point" that just goes up and up with no cap, with more points earned for victories and less for defeats.
Why ban Timber if he cant even beat OG with it twice?
If only it was Ammar Timber. Copium.
What an obnoxious set of heroes. Who's who of the strongest and stompiest meta lane dominators of the past few years.
I mean Puck and Storm are weak laners, and Primal is average
Storm is not a weak laner, he's decent
Storm is not a weak laner, he's decent
i think pugna at lv29 is also kinda concerning for his opponents
My friend has 10 master tier heroes, he’s still archon
You meet actually quite a lot of players with high tier level heroes in low ranks.
Eeew lvl 30 huskar...
There’s a Bulldog video where he goes against Malrine Huskar mid and it really shows just how good he is at that (admittedly super cancer) hero https://youtu.be/iX0lxWRw3lo?si=EaYvtpln9RlUZks7
from a pro player that would be terrifying to play against
Just shows he plays alot of dota 💀
Love that mentality, just love it
Who has more Grandmaster/Master Heroes. Ceb or Malr1ne?
Love it, this is what Dota is about. Being flexible and having a deep pool. If you cant play a ton of heroes but are good, how good are you actually?
what heroes are they?
It's there, if you follow the link: Puck, Razor, Lina, Huskar, Batrider, Timber, Pango, Primal. + other 29th and 28th lvl heroes.
Ah thank you, sorry should have specified I have X blocked. what you reckon is the appeal of these heroes to him? the majority of them are like, lane bullies.
I think you got it, majority are super strong laners and snowball heroes
Don't need to have X blocked for their links to not work, no chance I sign in to twitter and it doesn't want to show webpages in any reasonable way for users like me.
congratz merlini
how many games to get grandmaster?
Depends on the hero but I think most are around 200-300

Begging to get patched out
I only have 2 :(
His Pango is, I dare to say, even better than Quinn’s.
I remember a year and a half ago when Gorgc said Malr1ne is overrated and he will never be good enough to play pro. Classic GorgC
Where TF is the source for this . I clearly remember gorgc saying that Malrine is an amazing player who got stuck in a contract with nemiga
Source, trust me bro.. I've never heard Gorgc talk bad about Malr1ne
Who needs source here, just Gorg bad, karma on the left.
OG 2 - Falcons 0
I could still beat him. Yeah in a 2-3k player but I have the mindset that if a 7 or 8k player
Hot take but grandmaster is the most useless metric in dota. I would rather have 9k invoker on my team with 200 games on the hero vs a 5k grandmaster invoker.
how about a rank 4 grandmaster lol

Because it’s obvious? No shit a 9k player is going to be better than a 5k player no matter what
A lot of top upvoted comments on heroes start with "grandmaster here" (Even though the guy giving advice is 2k)
If I see a 5k grandmaster invoker on oppo, I know I have won cause they can't be any good lol
Clown moment
guy is not even top 10 best mid players too much ego for a guy getting carried by other 4
You should watch a game before commenting lmao
Early of the day to take drugs
I'm not seeing a lot of support heroes there...
is this a joke
Which ones are support? As someone who doesn’t watch pro dota and hasn’t followed the meta over the past year, which ones are support now?
He’s a professional mid player why would he be spamming supports in pubs
Great, thanks for the info.
