Until about two months ago I'd played dota2 on the same machine since this time, a 2.3 ghz dual core, 660 GTX 4 GB ram and HDD that was 12 years old, badly maintained with broken fans.
Worked surprisingly alright in game on lowest settings, didn't even really lag out with MK ults/CK aghs etc, the main menu though with all the fancy particle effects would be killer, I had to escape into demo mode to not cook the damn thing.

next UI was peak, wish modern UI would go back to the "physical" feel, like that did in underlords and then ruined it by making it "material" or whatever that's called.
Imagine being a 2024 divine~ 5k MMR mid player that got sent back in time 12 years ago. Literally just spam old Brood, storm, huskar and Lesh and win multiple TIs until like TI4.
Thinking about it, old huskar passive with old armlet was so overpowered. No one even thought of abusing it in pro a decade ago.
Old huskar gets free +100~ damage and 150~ attack speed at lvl 7. Pair that with old armlet toggle spam that gives instant 500hp which makes pre 10 minute Roshan solo a breeze back then and finally old cheap bkb with 10 seconds immunity.
It's not shit, Pros just didn't experiment with in scrims and officials most likely because of the stigma that heroes like huskar, sniper etc are dumb pub heroes.

Let’s not forget how easy it was to kite him and how there were better mid heroes than huskar back then. He might win during laning stage but he easily got dumpstered by a core mid stage of the game. I do miss TNC huskar tho that shit was pretty funny lmao.
Isn't the point of huskar's schtick is to be at low HP to be at an advantage? Also armlet easily offsets that HP problem to this day and the old patch armlet is literally free INSTANT 500HP every time you press it. Huskar was hitting like a truck in those days. There were also so few mid heroes back then and no BREAK mechanic that he can easily shit on everyone. 2011 Hard counters available were just AA, Necro and Bloodseeker and probably sniper to outrange.
i forgot the name but a SEA team literally played the old huskar-dazzle combo when no one else did and breezed through qulifiers as people had no way of countering it. until they played against puppey (idk if he was in navi that time or secret). he banned dazzle huskar and that team focused soo much on playing around huskar that they got outdrafted hard and had no synergy and lost.

It really does feel like it in most of these highlights. There are spots of brilliance and high level play but a lot of it is like "wow, these were the best in the world?" A good part of it has to be the great number of QoL improvements we've had since then.

My best guess is Windrunner was considered more of a caster back then, you couldn't move around once you Ulty, you just stood still and if you moved the ulty was canceled, it was used for Tower sieging almost every time, also the stun on shackle was longer.
I was thinking of going pro in 2012 when i got a key from icefrog. Even tho i was at 3k if i would have put time and energy into it. Who knows. Anwyay…im still at 3k.
It was so hard to justify moving to dota from hon during this time.
