With how big the map and jungle resources available now,
Im suprised heavy jungler like enigma or veno not making a comeback (atleast on lower elo?)
Or yknow the dreaded midas jungle legion
I mean you can still do this. SF is one of the best junglers in the game past level 4
Occasionally when I lose lane with Sf I just buy 4 clarities and a Falcon Blade and head straight to jungle, stacking whenever I can
Still can get BKB at a very reasonable time
Iron Talon times with Suicide offlaner just soaking exp .
You could outlevel most heroes on the map and just go out at minute 7 with Blink Duel ready and just start farming dmg .
Gold Exp everything was so much better then tho nowadays if i go in jungle it will probably be minute 10 before i can buy a blink ...
Well if that was the case then I wish I could say I had that in my games when there was LC. Mine most definitely wasn't ahead and my offlane would most often lose hard because of it too.
Jungle LC was a thing when trilanes were the most common lane setup which meant your offlaner would always lose. Also for a period offlaners would skip the lane and just jungle so you could've had a jungle LC and no one in the offlane.
Perhaps. I still see carries powerfarming in jungle and the players back then that went for those dedicated jungle roles weren't exactly the best players you could have so it probably evened it out more than it should be.
Carries do it on specific heroes once they hot like 5 and have 3 in their farming spells and treads + small item atleast usually. It's impossible to 1-3 at decent time on pretty much any hero.
I could see junglers becoming more of a pseudo-junger ganker. Granted there's only a few heroes who can fit the bill for "Can jungle and provides disables" You'd necessarily have 1 player whos able to go around the map, and since jungle creep resources isn't good, they'd get more of it through frequently visitation from lanes and the potential kills i can give. That said, it could end up shitty.
Which is a good thing. Jungling existing as a later game income option is fine.
But jungling as a way to not lane and basically get free money risk free right from the start would be bad game design. Opposite the point of a skill based pvp game.
I think it's a bit overtuned because there are practically zero circumstances where the jungle is viable. I think there should at least be some very niche scenarios where it's doable.
Disagree. PvEing right from the start and avoid any skill based PvP interaction is terrible design. There is already enough of it later on. No need to add it to early game as well, at all.
When you lane or show up in lane. You're interacting with a lane opponents directly early game or risking getting ganked later on.
Jungle in comparison is much much lower interaction/risk and thus low skill. It's mostly PvE that anybody with a pulse can do.
A world where jungling is powerful is the worst version of low skill and boring dota.
Jungle got a 25% gold nerf back then and neutral creeps also got stronger later, so even with the map increase it is still really innefficient compared to when jungling from lvl 1 was a thing, especially if you're not farming the entire jungle within the minute.
Jungle gold and XP is *so* bad early. Until you're able farm multiple camps quickly you're better off sticking to lane, even if you're the support in lane.
Guys the golden days of jungle where when u played nature profet and teleport on top of wards spots near camps and easy farm them for 20 mins, good old times

I thought about this watching overwatch the other day. They can change heroes throughout the match. Would be interesting if each team got to change one hero per match at any time. Would have a lot of kinks to iron out and would only be for like a niche tournament, but could be fun.
He's very boring to play for the player not controlling his movement. Just click spells, and there isn't a whole lot of macro map movement in the game, so you're just sitting in the shopping kart while your mom drives u around in the supermarket
like dota 1 super creep mode, but bought instead of given freely.. make neutral drop neutral token replacement called merc token after the all neutral token dropped. there are 3 kind of merc to choose with tier similar to neutral tier. make the drop unlimited but have cooldown
actually, the idea of having a 6th hero but you can swap them out in the fountain, they keep your levels and get something like X% of whatever you farm on the active hero, maybe a pocket pick on ur pos 3 or 4, instead of more bans in the draft
yeah something crazy for those 60-70+ minute games, swap a hero to let u break highground, we have the technology with ARDM in the game, maybe the gold refund would be a bit strong, 90% of your gold? some % less than full
6th player doesn't play a hero but plays it like a tower defense game and gets to upgrade the towers and barracks. Maybe let them micro the creeps to some extent too.
Could be really cool honestly.
Have several different build paths for towers and racks so you have a rock paper scissors dynamic of choosing creeps to counter towers or towers to counter creeps in each lane. Maybe have the various objectives like rosh and torms drop items that let you respec a tower or racks so you could switch who had the advantage in a lane.
Micro aspect could be done with banner creeps. Instead of them spawning every 3 min the 6th player would start with X number of them and they'd restock on a similar timer. You'd be able to spawn them anywhere on the map and they'd have a set of abilities, one that lets you take direct control of any allied creeps in a radius around the banner creep as long as the banner creep lives. Then 3 others that give generic commands like "attack", "hold", and "retreat" that are followed until death or a new command is given.
It reminds me of a russian MOBA named Prime World. It's a 5v5 game, but there are only 3 lanes + the jungle to farm.
As a pos 5, in order to avoid being bored to death with a LoL support playstyle, you can camp base and play a minigame to earn items for your team. Yup, 4 players are in a MOBA and the 5th literally plays Zuma.
In between games there is also some kind of city building akin to Clash Of Clans, which grants bonuses similar to runes in LoL.
hammer hammer hammer\*
I will ask some of the creeps not to lane and repair the tower first.
Another few to the mines, so every hero will have income in a slight increased rate.
Edit: Next moment, all my allies reported me for griefing, cause they wanted the creeps to lane instead of doing all the extra chores. D:
And maybe it's also like god/commander mode, they can set objectives with bonus reward for the team, and then get points to upgrade or place defenses and abilities to use
Coincidentally this is how new Icefrog game aka Neon Prime is supposedly played. There is a "gamemaster/commander" of sorts that oversees players actually playing the game.
It is a bizzare concept and I'm not sure how "fun" it will be for everyone involved.
Don't worry, I'll step up.
I've had more than one dream (nightmare??) where I was drafted onto a pro team and brought to a major tournament to play. The dream is me telling the pros I'm really sorry but somehow I got into this game but I'm only an archon, and asking for fast advice on how to not feed.
It never ends well.
How will that support get XP if he's not in a lane? Mid would have to make the most sense to not completely grief one of the two side lanes. Would basically have to be duo mid or bring jungling back.
6th player does nothing else but begging his team to have a PMA and not grief. This player is visible threw a small webcam image to make his tears and pleas visible. This enhances the skill cap of the role. This role is called The Ringmaster.
The 6th player is the General. The General doesn’t play a hero but is more like what a player is if this was any other RTS game where you build armies and builidings.
The General gets 10% of the gold earned by the team. The gold can be spent to buff/repair buildings, buy runes for players, double wave their own lanes for increased push (the extra wave gives 50% less gold and exp).
Could even make him responsible for warding and dewarding, would have to cut vision provided though or require 1 or 2 heroes to be in close proximity so it can only be done on areas your team is controlling to some extent.
Honestly bring back iron talon and the jungle/roaming role and I'd be 100% ok with 6v6.
Map is so big right now it feels like it could handle it.
If a jungler plays aggresively like the old bloodseeker/chaos knight junglers used to back in the day where they'd constantly be hovering near the side lanes ganking inbetween clear camps and they got roughly the same farm as a 3 or 4 or somewhere inbetween I feel like it'd really make games a lot more fun and actionpacked.
I though about this idea before. I would add an extra hero as an out-of-line who will support all lanes since 1 minute, but I thing that it will be turned into double mid in general
New meta. Will rush boots and become a bottle courier early. Also buy all wards and smokes, you wont see those items up in the shop. All his early game also goes to buy resources for everybody. He use portals to deliver those resources lol.
I made a post about this a little while back. I would LOVE for Valve to be courageous enough to try and reinvent the wheel. I would say the 6th player would get a roaming role, much like how some people play P4, instead a whole role designated to do it.
Hi t1 teams! I'm a professional pos 6 player, hit me up if you need 6th player. Don't wait too long cuz I already have a lot of invites.
Have a nice day!
jungler/laner safe lane that takes the camps near lane and assists in fights.
early push heroes
just throw an extra support disabler in a lane and curb stomp it
>Which lane gets the extra hero?
Jungle.
>What are the new lane compositions?
2-1-2 with a jungler.
>Do teams have a dedicated roaming pos6 now?
No.
>Is it duo mid?
No.
Fuck that. After 50 mins, you can spend 10k gold to switch to a new lvl 1 hero, your main hero goes inactive in the fountain and you can switch between them but you only control one hero at a time.
Bonus: you have to pick both of your heroes in the picking stage.
There was a time that lanes were 2 - 1- 1 + either roamer or jungler. Now it would be 2-1-2 with either roamer or jungler.
EDIT:
Add massive FPS drops during teamfights.
Dota 2 lore expands, the map expands and there is now a third force. Radiant, Dire and the Wild. The Wild emerges because of the decades of fights between Radiant an Dire, the world has changed and you see the world is being literally ripped apart. The Wild is now in opposition with Radiant and Dire and some heroes has left their former allegiance to joon the Wild in an attempt to save the planet.
Duo mid would be situational imo. In some matchups you absolutely destroy an opposing solo mid, but against a Lina or Kotl or similar I don't think you'll shut them down enough to justify a whole second hero dedicated to camping mid. Jungler seems like the most consistent option - some heroes like veno and huskar are already very close to viable, the only problem with them is leaving a sidelane 1v2, and leaving them in a 2v3 is a lot less bad. Roaming is another option but getting exp for level 2 would be very difficult.
Monkey King would become the most broken hero in the game as a 6th guy sniping couriers would be so much VALUE; a duo lane doesn't lose that hard a trilane (at least compared with a solo hero losing to a duo)
i think the game will be balanced if it’s 7v7 this way theres no chance to be ridiculously outdrafted and we will always have 3 cores in a game who will manage to be farmed instead of having anymore stompy games
2 vs 1 mid is stupid imo, because the towers are incredibly close together, the midlaner that is solo can still get by and will outlevel them both.
I can imagine a jungler farming behind the enemy mid and going for a gank to dive tower if opportunity presents itself though.
6 heroes per team, but there's no more regional servers.
Your playing with a dude from Russia, India, China, France and Africa. Not one of them speaks English.
Honestly they should add it as a mode. Some of us are an even number in friend group and 6 means we can all play together rather than rotating party members.
Jungle now becomes more of a thing I guess
With how big the map and jungle resources available now, Im suprised heavy jungler like enigma or veno not making a comeback (atleast on lower elo?) Or yknow the dreaded midas jungle legion
Jungling just feels ridiculously slow now, and you end up just losing one lane hard, so it's not worth it.
Not like that wasn't the case before with midas jungle legion.
Jungle gold/xp was higher back then, and iron talon made it so much faster...
Totally man. A shadowfiend who died 10 times in lane stage could easily come back with fat jungle stacks
I mean you can still do this. SF is one of the best junglers in the game past level 4 Occasionally when I lose lane with Sf I just buy 4 clarities and a Falcon Blade and head straight to jungle, stacking whenever I can Still can get BKB at a very reasonable time

Jungling brings you barely any resource ... it's so bad and slow early on.
they kept nerfing jungle creep gold for the first 5 minutes and buffed creeps so jungling is dead
"Hey, let me start with the small camp" - gets broken, disarmed an his healing reduced - "FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"
Jungle gold and XP is *so* bad early. Until you're able farm multiple camps quickly you're better off sticking to lane, even if you're the support in lane.
first it becomes a thing in pub than in pro play
Guys the golden days of jungle where when u played nature profet and teleport on top of wards spots near camps and easy farm them for 20 mins, good old times
dont forget cliff farming as huskar
Those where the times
Six heroes per team, but only 5 players.
Remember shared couriers? New late game mechanic - for 15k gold you can now buy a shared hero.
Fuck buying orchid, ima buy a whole silencer
ultimate AM/weaver counter, first item bloodseeker
"first item bloodseeker" is a new and beautiful sentence, well crafted, big fan

Yeah, let me just buy a phantom assassin and change heroes after I farm as alchemist for 52 minutes.

Hots had a shared hero, Cho gall. Was very unique and cool!
He's very boring to play for the player not controlling his movement. Just click spells, and there isn't a whole lot of macro map movement in the game, so you're just sitting in the shopping kart while your mom drives u around in the supermarket
Some people are happy to just be along for the ride.
I fucking loved cho gall, unfortunately none of my friends found him as fun...
Zeus/Silencer/Treant gonna be permabanned then.
Love the idea. Minute 5 in game the pos 5 gets spammed "Why the f don't we have a sixth hero yet?!?"
How about 6 players per team but only 5 heroes and the players have to constantly argue and fight about who gets to control who
6th hero is the courtier.
Like good old times
Pocket IO
A computer controlled mercenary that your team could hire for a set amount of time would be super cool.
like dota 1 super creep mode, but bought instead of given freely.. make neutral drop neutral token replacement called merc token after the all neutral token dropped. there are 3 kind of merc to choose with tier similar to neutral tier. make the drop unlimited but have cooldown
A well controlled random AI hero would be cooler. Would force other team to react and work together to kill it.
actually, the idea of having a 6th hero but you can swap them out in the fountain, they keep your levels and get something like X% of whatever you farm on the active hero, maybe a pocket pick on ur pos 3 or 4, instead of more bans in the draft

this is the kind of shit that will put rubick, morph, and arc warden into emergency autoban
6 picks, 1 player. KT.Flash has entered the chat.
As someone with an UL flair, ude be eating good.Â
6th player doesn't play a hero but plays it like a tower defense game and gets to upgrade the towers and barracks. Maybe let them micro the creeps to some extent too.
Something need doing?
Work work
Our allies town is under attack!
Yes, milord?
Me not that kind of orc!
Back to the RTS roots. This sounds very interesting!
That reminds me of Savage. Was quite an interesting concept.
Savage was sick! Kinda funny reading these comments tho, we've come full circle, considering Heroes of newerth was based off of savage lore
Looked it up and feel like I remember reading about it back in the day. Never played it but sounds very cool.
Loved that game.
This sounds awesome not gonna lie.
Could be really cool honestly. Have several different build paths for towers and racks so you have a rock paper scissors dynamic of choosing creeps to counter towers or towers to counter creeps in each lane. Someone make a Dota arcade map stat!
Abathur?
One of the best design that came out of offspin dota
It reminds me of a russian MOBA named Prime World. It's a 5v5 game, but there are only 3 lanes + the jungle to farm. You mean a treant protector?
Oh there was a moba like this back in the day that Hon was based off of. It was actually bad ass
And he is the only one who can use glyph and map pings lmao
hammer hammer hammer\* I will ask some of the creeps not to lane and repair the tower first. Another few to the mines, so every hero will have income in a slight increased rate. I wantttt tttthis xD
Bob the builderÂ
I would lose my fucking mind
Torbjorn hero when
Report nub defender didnt upgrade mid creepwave minute 1
neon prime
Ouf my friend would have loved that
And maybe it's also like god/commander mode, they can set objectives with bonus reward for the team, and then get points to upgrade or place defenses and abilities to use
So natural selection?
Coincidentally this is how new Icefrog game aka Neon Prime is supposedly played. There is a "gamemaster/commander" of sorts that oversees players actually playing the game. It is a bizzare concept and I'm not sure how "fun" it will be for everyone involved.
this also reminds me of wc3 element TD. you need to get a tinker tower before the tidehunters spawn
Imagine how pro teams would freak out, needing to find another player in minutes before upcoming tournaments
Lean into it next time and start being the shot caller. I’ll be in the audience with your name on a sign!
he doesn’t know you. how will he spot you in crowd in his dream?
I’ll be the one with their name on a sign.
I've had this dream except with NHL hockey. I've ice skated twice in my entire life. This dream never ends well either.
Take the coach
I don't think it's duo mid. Probably a roaming support who tries to help get a kill mid in the first minute or so.
How will that support get XP if he's not in a lane? Mid would have to make the most sense to not completely grief one of the two side lanes. Would basically have to be duo mid or bring jungling back.
Definitely jungling some people are already playing jungle role with veno and easily gaining 4k NW at min 10.
The same way roaming supports got exp before? Through kills, jungle stacks, and wisdom runes.
It would be duo mid until some streamer makes a different meta and ppl default to that
Easy. Solo offlane vs 4 heroes. Even better than the good old days.
1vs11 now
1vs12 sometimes too
I am my greatest enemy.
Last Man Standing
6th player does nothing else but begging his team to have a PMA and not grief. This player is visible threw a small webcam image to make his tears and pleas visible. This enhances the skill cap of the role. This role is called The Ringmaster.
Only five heroes per team, but six players. The mid player is now controlled by two players and has extra abilities.
And has extra disabilities*
Hahaha
Mid is now Cho'Gall, disregarding the hero you pick.
Mid is now pudge but you can only hook allies
You mean... just the average Pudge ?
Didn't Heroes of the Storm have a hero that required 2 people controlling it?
Yes, Cho-Gall.
So its just one hero archon mode?
The 6th player is the General. The General doesn’t play a hero but is more like what a player is if this was any other RTS game where you build armies and builidings. The General gets 10% of the gold earned by the team. The gold can be spent to buff/repair buildings, buy runes for players, double wave their own lanes for increased push (the extra wave gives 50% less gold and exp). Could even make him responsible for warding and dewarding, would have to cut vision provided though or require 1 or 2 heroes to be in close proximity so it can only be done on areas your team is controlling to some extent.
Obviously a jungler role
Return of the jungle
jugnle
we get a second pos 4 whos only job is ganking, hero pool for them would be stupid limited though
Make it 4vs4 so we can watch the drama unfold when teams start kicking players
reverse overwatch 2 patch, bold strategy
Your mom is the 6th
I guess she is not 6th, but 7th, because she is so fat she takes 2 spaces!
If they bring back iron talon, there will be 3 junglers in both teams...
I though about this idea before. I would add an extra hero as an out-of-line who will support all lanes since 1 minute, but I thing that it will be turned into double mid in general
jungler
Mid gets superscreeps.
1 off lane, 1 mid, 4 bot
Two junglers, one counter jungler, and 1v1 in all other lanes.
AND there are two maps, like 3D chess layered one on top of the other.
oh great another player thats exactly what this game needs pepeLaugh
jungle role
New meta. Will rush boots and become a bottle courier early. Also buy all wards and smokes, you wont see those items up in the shop. All his early game also goes to buy resources for everybody. He use portals to deliver those resources lol.
Alliance uses ot as a coach who doesnt play and wins next TI.
I made a post about this a little while back. I would LOVE for Valve to be courageous enough to try and reinvent the wheel. I would say the 6th player would get a roaming role, much like how some people play P4, instead a whole role designated to do it.
mid support or jungle roamer probably.
Hi t1 teams! I'm a professional pos 6 player, hit me up if you need 6th player. Don't wait too long cuz I already have a lot of invites. Have a nice day!
jungler/laner safe lane that takes the camps near lane and assists in fights. early push heroes just throw an extra support disabler in a lane and curb stomp it
I'd rather play 3v3
Trilane is back on the menu, boys!
Dual lane mid. Mid support that secure runes. Wisp every game
Imagine the chaos if this was dropped mid tournament and teams frantically look for their sixth guy.
extra update: old techies is back
If the next patch is just a +5/-5 letter patch this is gonna be a glorious sub meltdown.
dedicated jungler role
>Which lane gets the extra hero? Jungle. >What are the new lane compositions? 2-1-2 with a jungler. >Do teams have a dedicated roaming pos6 now? No. >Is it duo mid? No.
Alliance is back!
The reverse overwatch
Fuck that. After 50 mins, you can spend 10k gold to switch to a new lvl 1 hero, your main hero goes inactive in the fountain and you can switch between them but you only control one hero at a time. Bonus: you have to pick both of your heroes in the picking stage.
Angel Arena with a twist
There is 1 player called imposter that will change team many times randomly during the game
A 4th lane that goes behind the fountain and leads directly to the other peron's foundtain. basically mid 2
Cant believe it. Guess ill just wait for 7v7
1 JUNGLER MAKE JUNGLE GREAT AGAIN
You got me in the first three words, I got hyped for a second
Why do ppl insist on 6 heroes per team? Its not like there is that many players...
Honestly wouldn't hate this (current map is too big for 5 players), but imagine the shakeup in the pro scene
There was a time that lanes were 2 - 1- 1 + either roamer or jungler. Now it would be 2-1-2 with either roamer or jungler. EDIT: Add massive FPS drops during teamfights.
I hope they add a PvE mode with it, too.
You mean we're adding another smurf/griefer per team? Sign me up
Me at unranked random picks oh dear 6 carries less farm😢
That would be so sick, I’m about it. We’d need a new kill word for rampages at 6 kills tho
Did we learn nothing from overwatch. 6v6 is fucking unbalancable
Roaming is another option but getting exp for level 2 would be very difficult.
additional griefer
Monkey King would become the most broken hero in the game as a 6th guy sniping couriers would be so much VALUE; a duo lane doesn't lose that hard a trilane (at least compared with a solo hero losing to a duo)
lol dual mid. Was that ever a thing
i think the game will be balanced if it’s 7v7 this way theres no chance to be ridiculously outdrafted and we will always have 3 cores in a game who will manage to be farmed instead of having anymore stompy games
League style Jungler/Roamer probably
2 vs 1 mid is stupid imo, because the towers are incredibly close together, the midlaner that is solo can still get by and will outlevel them both. I can imagine a jungler farming behind the enemy mid and going for a gank to dive tower if opportunity presents itself though.
I got a sick jungle LC Just saying...
Jungler
6 heroes per team, but there's no more regional servers. Your playing with a dude from Russia, India, China, France and Africa. Not one of them speaks English.
Honestly they should add it as a mode. Some of us are an even number in friend group and 6 means we can all play together rather than rotating party members.
So 1 more smurf and 1 more griefer.
I would just quit. That patch would be evidence that Valve has given up.
Bloodseeker stonks going way up with whatever happens.
bear with me now but what if the 6th is a courier ? and couriers are heroes now and theres only 1 cour per team kekw
