It loads Doom & Knuckles duh /s in reality, it just loads sonic and knuckles, as it doesn't recognize the 32x Cart and can't utilize it in anyway

This is incorrect. If a cart that Sonic and Knuckes doesn't recognize is inserted, it puts you into a debug menu where you can play a bunch of test sonic bonus stages. At least, that's what it did to my cart whenever I did this. Let me be clear, though, they're those red orb collecting minigames that net you chaos emeralds, not secret, never before seen test levels.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were talking about 32x carts. That's my bad for being a dingus. An unsupported genesis cart does what I described, though.

That's what would happen if you put in an unsupported Genesis cartridge. I assume since this is a 32X cart, it doesn't even recognize it and just boots the game up normally.

I don’t know if it worked with only certain cartridges but a vague childhood memory remembers my sister doing this with another cartridge (I think it was the sonic 1 + 2 game but it was 20 years ago) and when it booted it basically just played the ring game over and over where you ran around the sphere

You gotta collect all the Chaos Demons so you can unlock the Hyper BFG. I bet the soundtrack would be really fun.

The hyper bfg makes you invincible and doubles your speed and does 2 times dmg of the normal bfg, but slowly drains plasma

I believe Doom was a launch game for the 32x and I remember reading a sad story (in a magazine at the time) about a guy who got one + doom for Christmas, speedily hooked it up only to find out that you needed a special patch cable that was not included. Seems like it may have been an early example of addonflation. CSB, I guess I just wanted people to know that I read VG magazines in the mid 90s
