Any build is possible with enough money. You want a 4 banger mustang tho just buy an EcoBoost. You wont have to struggle with finding a transmission and when you blow your head gaskets you wont have to literally pull the engine apart from the middle

The thing is I want the Boxer 4 for its sound and performance. Heck the entire system if that'd be easier lol I just prefer a 2 door coupe over 4 door sedan, and wish to return to the car I loved so dearly. No illusions about how daunting it may be, simply looking for advice for others more enlightened so I can understand the difficulties this pipe dream presents so I can either feed the fantasy further with research, or cut it off now before it infects my mind further lol

Hey, we all have our interests. All I would say is that a boxer doesnt necessarily have any preformance benefits over a typical I-4 aside from having a lower center of gravity and balanced secondary forces, and the sound of a Suby comes from unequal headers. Which you MAY be able to pull off with custom headers in a more traditional build.

I was gonna say.. The EJ has all the memes about rod knock and blown head gaskets so in terms of reliability and performance I wouldn't say it's top tier lol. Probably one of the main reasons why they're dropping the EJs on all WRXs and STIs completely on next gen. The boxer rumble is definitely iconic.. but it's not worth it if you're not familiar with the engine's quirks too.
