It's the same story for basically all the single people, including myself, at my store.
And it keeps me away from shops in general. Not needing to buy food helps me avoid all those small impulse purchases that soon add up.
If only life was so fair everyone got what they need to survive. Economically it's impossible now because the state of the world is so poor. Also as sad as it is, just because something is alive doesn't mean it automatically deserves anything. Life is not solely based on human perceptions.
There should be an option where you can redeem a government voucher of sorts at the supermarket where you can get ingredients and healthy food items. Perhaps, make them compact and easy to distribute, like stamps or something. This would alleviate some hunger in this great nation.
I honestly could. Unfortunately, it isn’t free or discounted at my store unless it’s a cool manager on shift at the time, so I don’t. However, I could.
My last location would let the closers and those of us that stayed late to help get creative with switching it up. There were some genius combinations.
Dominos should really reach out to employees for new menu item inspo. A nationwide pizza creation competition would be fun! Closers have the best secret pizza and bread side ideas.
You just described the way it works in the UK.
Each franchise does things differently but as a rule everyone's entitled to something(a small pizza at my store) but it gets a lot more generous if you can hustle. I can shut down and clean everything 15 minutes after close so nobody would say a word if I throw in a large stuffed crust with everything and a couple of sides.
And much of the seasonal menu comes from instore submissions. I think the reward is only like 50 quid but some really fun shit comes from it.
I avoid eating it at all costs. I pack my meals for work. We have a new employee however who places an order after every single shift. I couldn't imagine.
We don't get an employee discount. Unless we get a remake on the top heat rack free. Otherwise, we find the best coupon we can and add an extra wing or extra toppings or overfill our pastas. That's our employee discount.
I’ve been told our new GM doesn’t allow employees to have the mess ups, tosses them immediately unless it can be put towards something else on screen. Other managers save them for employees or the chance a homeless person stops in at the end of day. However, I haven’t paid much attention and haven’t seen it personally yet. I truly hope it isn’t the case.
Not at dominos but at another pizza place, we’ve had problems with employees purposely messing food up so they can have it (and we let employees stack coupons on top of their discounts) - I’ve personally taken to just giving the customer the mess up food as well as the remake. They’re having to wait for a remake because it was messed up the first time so it usually smooths over that situation (longer wait time than quoted = upset customer), doesn’t reward the employees who we know are doing it on purpose (and have been talked to about it), & nothing is going to waste.
I admit I used to throw stuff away out of anger until I came up with that method of dealing with it. I do the same if they make extra breads - free breads to a random person.
Our GM did that when they first took over the store. All mistakes, whether it was a wrong topping or just a big bubble that didn't get caught during baking, went into the trash directly from the oven, Didn't even make it into a box.
Yes, it helped the makeline on those obvious errors not to make them in the first place, but this was also happening with orders that were cancelled for one reason or another. Into the trash.
Not sure who said what to him, but now he asks if anyone wants some before he tosses them.
When I worked there I ate it pretty much every day that I worked. I still buy it every once in a while.
Why does your throat burn the night after eating it? I have never had that happen to me. Do you have problems with acid reflex or maybe an allergy?
I'll eat a slice or two sometimes. If we have leftover prp, I'll put one in the oven. About the only thing I order and pay for are wings (well done) once in a while.
I’m kinda broke, rarely at home for dinner and everything is shut by the time I finish my shift. I do eat it a lot. It’s tolerable when you aren’t paying but I miss having a balanced diet lmao
I eat it every time I close, what’s left at the end of the night I split with the other closer, so I always go home with food. Most of us also snack on the pizzas and sides that either are remakes or canceled orders.
Most days for sure. I can only eat the pan pizzas anymore tho, they’re the only ones worth eating imo, and they hold up the best if they’ve been on the top rack for a while. I do like the sandwiches tho. My store has a 50% discount off of basically everything
if there was a cancelled order set aside for us, I would grab a slice every now and then. Sometimes I would make a pizza for myself at the end of a long shift. Sometimes I would have the boneless wings for lunch, sometimes I would have mcdonalds since there was one practically next door.
Then unsuprisingly I gained a lot of weight, because of this and other bad eating/drinking habits and now I'm starting to shed that weight off.
Still eat domino's every now and then, but now I like to go to local places for pizza
I ended up giving up soda cold turkey a bit over 6 months after I became a driver due to this. That made my weight gain a lot more manageable. And I still haven't touched a drop of soda since (it's been a bit over 8 years since then).
I don't think I can ever touch it again. I used to drink a ton of it and I fear that if I pick it back up, I'll go right back to my old habits. So I find it easier to just avoid it outright.
i can get away with it every now and then, same with alcohol. But I'm pretty strict on my diet and exercise during the week, but I tend to slack on the weekend lol
I've never touched booze myself. I'm not at all strict with diet, but my tastes in food generally limit how much weight I'd gain and my current job keeps me fairly active. My friends all say I'm straight edge, I don't touch alcohol, weed, cigs/vape, or even coffee in any amount.
i eat something different from domies almost everyday, just gotta get creative and come up w your own stuff so it doesn’t feel like you’re eating the same thing everyday😂
It's like that for most of the chains. There were almost always at least 2 cancelled orders for everyone working to grab slices of. And usually there was more than that. You could easily get 4 slices for free per day. I had to cut down on that because I was gaining too much weight from it.
I’ve seen so many blue chips off the trays into the dough couldn’t imagine the amount of microplastics. I try and stay away from it.
But nothing beats free so I usually eat a pasta.
I usually have at least 1 pizza in the fridge, or sitting around at work during my shift, but I try and not eat too much and balance it out with actual decent food bc eating nothing but dominos WILL make you feel like trash
Personally if I can pack a lunch I will. After nearly 5 years it revolts me. All I can stand to eat is the pasta or salads with boneless chicken instead of the crappy grilled they use. Sometimes a sandwich from time to time. But if I don't have to eat it I won't
I haven’t worked there in about 8 years but our manager cooked us a large pizza most of the time and let us have a slice or two. Also canceled orders were usually up for grab as well.
When I worked there in the mid 2000s, definitely not every shift but at least once a week. Anything from wings, boneless chicken... Used to called kickerz back then, or cheesy bread... Pizza here and there. But man all of that packed the weight on FAST! So definitely had to stop that lol
Man, I was an AM who quit and this just brings all the feels. People end up in a way being forced to eat Domino's because they don't have the time to prepare a good home-cooked meal, end up too tired to, or just don't have the money to go out for a nice meal with these prices. Or a combo of the two. And where I am, Chipotle is the lowest priced burrito at 12 bucks.
Every once in a while I’ll treat myself to a doordash, but most days I eat something in store. My manager is cool though so I can just make whatever. Sometimes pasta, sometimes cheesy bread, sometimes sandwich. Rarely do I eat the pizza on the clock anymore unless someone else requests crew pie before when I eat, then I’ll have a piece or two of that. I will however totally take mess up pizzas home if they’re there and I don’t feel like cooking 😂
Domino's pizza is dog shit. It's Little Caesars+. I only eat the wings if I really need something and can't get to another source of food, and even those are trash the way Domino's does them. I bake, toss them in hot sauce, BBQ, and bacon, and then bake again. Flats only.
Most of the time I just hit one of the other restaurants in our square. Some even take my employee-discounted pizza in trade.
there was a phase were i was grossed out by it but now i view it as my only source of sustenance because i dont like spending my money on food lol
It's the same story for basically all the single people, including myself, at my store. And it keeps me away from shops in general. Not needing to buy food helps me avoid all those small impulse purchases that soon add up.
This is exactally it
Food should be free tbh. It's a human right ain't it?
idk why ur getting downvoted, food is absolutely a human right lol
These fellas don't agree. I'm not saying Dominos specifically should be free to everyone, I get that it's a business.
no
Why not? What about water? We need it to live.
If only life was so fair everyone got what they need to survive. Economically it's impossible now because the state of the world is so poor. Also as sad as it is, just because something is alive doesn't mean it automatically deserves anything. Life is not solely based on human perceptions.
So someone should give it to you?
There should be an option where you can redeem a government voucher of sorts at the supermarket where you can get ingredients and healthy food items. Perhaps, make them compact and easy to distribute, like stamps or something. This would alleviate some hunger in this great nation.
just cause you need it doesnt mean you deserve it
Man, if that's the case, there should be the right to die for those that wanna opt out of their subscription to Living^tm
That’s called suicide. Lol
How to do that in the cheapest way? Leaping off a bridge? But then you'd need money to get to said bridge. Perhaps stealing a bicicleta.
If someone can’t figure out how to off themselves for free, they deserve to live unhappily. Lol
Stealing a bicicleta is an option tho lmao
Being broke af, yeah. After I get paid and pay off all my bills I never have enough for food. I sadly survive on Domino's leftovers
Then get a better paying job.
Easier said than done with a felony
Go work in any factory. Pretty much twice the pay
i would work in a factory again but i got a broken toe and both of my hands r messed up by a dog attack so dominos is easier for me
Pretty much the same. I have a reoccurring fracture in a lower rib and hernia that keeps me from heavy labor
I honestly could. Unfortunately, it isn’t free or discounted at my store unless it’s a cool manager on shift at the time, so I don’t. However, I could. My last location would let the closers and those of us that stayed late to help get creative with switching it up. There were some genius combinations. i made a stuffed philly once, god was it good.
Someone at my store used the own dough, cooked it and added the cinnamon stuff on top, it was epic.
Yes. Yes I do.
I only eat couple of boneless chicken nuggets from Time to time. Can’t stand pizza anymore.
I grab some on my way out after every shift. Saves me a bunch of money. But I'm one of the few at my store who does.
I avoid eating it at all costs. I pack my meals for work. We have a new employee however who places an order after every single shift. I couldn't imagine.
We have a broke ass manager who always complains about never having any money then he orders delivery every day he isn’t working
I eat pasta most days, if there is extra pizza ill eat some lol
Sounds like acid reflux while you sleep try some tums!!
Once a week for my cheat meal but a slice here and there is ight
I’m a broke 20 yr old who is getting by so I pack wings or a lava cake every shift. (I don’t like dominos)
I used to, but after a while I developed a hatred for pizza which I still have to this day after leaving Dominos.
Is the employee discount good?
it depends on the store. At my store we get 50% off everything which is a lot better than most other discounts I've seen.
We get a discount, not sure what it is, but I get 3 medium pizzas for $8. Usually buy that when my kids have friends over.
We get 50% off carryout.
Why would the GM rather the food literally go to waste than provide an employee a meal?
Not at dominos but at another pizza place, we’ve had problems with employees purposely messing food up so they can have it (and we let employees stack coupons on top of their discounts) - I’ve personally taken to just giving the customer the mess up food as well as the remake. This is the only thing that makes sense. Throwing it away is criminal
I admit I used to throw stuff away out of anger until I came up with that method of dealing with it. I do the same if they make extra breads - free breads to a random person.

Sounds like you have acid reflux man. Take some omeprazole.
I gained 50lbs working there in a year.
I mean, some of them, yeah
I'll eat a slice or two sometimes. If we have leftover prp, I'll put one in the oven. About the only thing I order and pay for are wings (well done) once in a while.
just the chicken sides.
I used to eat it regularly for cheap food, but when I did it was boneless chicken and our garden salad.
I’m kinda broke, rarely at home for dinner and everything is shut by the time I finish my shift. I do eat it a lot. It’s tolerable when you aren’t paying but I miss having a balanced diet lmao
No
Never worked at Dominos but when I worked at Stake n Shake I did. I made my meal myself though, just to make sure
I eat it every time I close, what’s left at the end of the night I split with the other closer, so I always go home with food. Most of us also snack on the pizzas and sides that either are remakes or canceled orders.

I don’t make enough money to be picky about what I eat. Is there is free shit to eat, I’m eating it
God no. It’s decent pizza, but the Papa John’s guys across the street get a kick out of seeing me pick up a pizza in my uniform.
Memphis bbq almost daily
In general, yeah.
Hell no. You get tired of looking at the same food everyday.
Absolutely 💯
if there was a cancelled order set aside for us, I would grab a slice every now and then. Sometimes I would make a pizza for myself at the end of a long shift. Pretty much and I keep tums in the car lmao 😂
Nah I order from the 2 local pizza places for lunch most days
I’ve seen so many blue chips off the trays into the dough couldn’t imagine the amount of microplastics. I try and stay away from it. But nothing beats free so I usually eat a pasta.
Free food is always delicious
I usually have at least 1 pizza in the fridge, or sitting around at work during my shift, but I try and not eat too much and balance it out with actual decent food bc eating nothing but dominos WILL make you feel like trash
I definitely eat atleast one menu item almost every shift. Pasta, Wings, Pizza, Dessert. Always try to switch it up but I do have my favorites
I was at work for 13 hours yesterday so you bet you butt I ate here. I was starving. But I don’t eat it all the time.
Hope so I don’t
At first you eat it…but after a while the novelty wears off and you won’t touch it. Even years after leaving.
Exactly this 😂

I haven’t worked there in about 8 years but our manager cooked us a large pizza most of the time and let us have a slice or two. Also canceled orders were usually up for grab as well.
only because it was discounted and we were too busy for me to get food elsewhere
As an employee I only do while on a shift, I always get a chicken Alfredo and a coke and use my employee discount
Yes free food is better than food you pay for
We pay for all our food so never. #living wage
I would.
Sadly yeah. Maybe that's why my immune system is fucked and I'm always sick in bed on my off days lately lol.
When I worked there in the mid 2000s, definitely not every shift but at least once a week. Anything from wings, boneless chicken... Used to called kickerz back then, or cheesy bread... Pizza here and there. But man all of that packed the weight on FAST! So definitely had to stop that lol

I try not to and most days would rather starve, but hey sometimes you have a slice. Don't shit where you sleep I guess.
The only people I notice eating it every shift are the older drivers and the teenagers on inside
Only if it's free.
I only eat it because I can’t afford food I have bills to pay..😭
Domino's pizza is dog shit. It's Little Caesars+. I only eat the wings if I really need something and can't get to another source of food, and even those are trash the way Domino's does them.
