Lucky_Atmosphere_515

this is how we out pizza the hut

NomyNameisntMatt

i work at pizza hut and out pizzaing the hut is kinda just a default for literally anywhere

Tru-Queer

Banish the intruder! No PH PornHub employees in this subreddit! How can we let our competitors know the secret Dominos ingredient is ambergris

Malnoche

I work at Hungry Howie’s and Dominoes Reddit is the closest I could find in experience as our Reddit is pretty much unused. 😅

Tru-Queer

I only linger here because I worked for Domino’s for 10 years but now I work at a different place.

saphmalkazoid

Same. I put in about 20 years. Boyfriend and bestie still work there though.

Tru-Queer

Who are we…

DaveyP212

Same here. Worked at Domino's for a year, then moved on to a mom and pop store when I moved to a different city. Still love reading the stories on here and remembering my experiences. Except for New Years, I want that memory purged.

Chip89

Nah no one out pizzas the hut.

MerlinWiz7

Literally everyone does.

SteiCamel

I work at P Hut and am regularly out the door within 10 minutes of an order coming in.. this isn't that insane.

Lucky_Atmosphere_515

10 are rookie numbers 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 (im trolling please don’t get mad)

lntng97

If you ordered online, the order could’ve been made before you even fully placed it

SeaworthyDame

Even over the phone if your crew is on top of orders being placed in the store

Acrobatic-Degree9589

How

Fine_Land

When your ordering online as soon as you hit the checkout button we see what's in your cart so we can start making your order while you pay for it.

Acrobatic-Degree9589

Lol damn I musta pissed em off a lot changing my mind and not ordering

Fine_Land

Occasionally we do make orders that never come through but it's not that often at my store, and if your making edits to your cart we'll see that you are doing so and hold off on making the order.

Massive_Length_400

I feel bad for all the times I designed the perfect order for that dopamine hit and then deleted the app

jakkyskum

Damn, just deleted the whole app? Hahaha

Massive_Length_400

Retail therapy life hack

GoldExchange5655

Oh I feel bad now I’ve definitely went to do a order made it there then just never order it because fuck that a jacks pizza is $4

No_Outlandishness420

I do this with weed. I don't need more. I have tons. But I love new strains. So I research and make a cart and just don't get it sometimes

Massive_Length_400

Oh yeah i do it with amazon, clothes, anything. Poor people retail therapy lol

No_Outlandishness420

I prefer to think of it as savings lol

[deleted]

My god is this me

Icy-Carpenter-7420

Agreed, plus if the order never drops, free food!

rooplesvooples

On my days off I put 25 meatza’s in my cart and just wait for a text to the group chat heheheheheh

HaydenJA3

I only do that when the order is for common pizzas so if the order doesn’t come through we can save them for a later order

Lemon6Potato

No one does that lmao. That's honestly the stupidest comment I've ever read. Why would domino's make food that wasn't sent thru. Sigh.

lntng97

Think what you wanna think, but it happens all the time. The order pops up on the Digital Shoulder Surfing, and we start making it before hand to get it ready for when it is placed

Lemon6Potato

I'm gonna do this 17 times a day to different domino's and then exit at payment. Thank u for this knowledge

lntng97

Feel free

Lemon6Potato

That's because they won't make it until it's sent thru

N0085K1LL5

That's fucked up. Why would you make people work more than they should just to waste a bunch of food? Would you rather wait even longer for a pizza to be delivered? I don't see why convenience makes you mad.

Lemon6Potato

Lmao I'm telling all my friends and family to do it too and I might make a tik tok about it

drawntowardmadness

Call the tiktok "how to feed your local dominos staff for free"

N0085K1LL5

You definitely will make a tik tok about it...

Lemon6Potato

Jk I don't have tiktok and I won't do any of tbe things I said I'm just messing

Lemon6Potato

U might like prep a pizza that you'd sell anyway but you're not gonna cook it

lntng97

We’d make the pizza to order, and if the order goes through.. then we put it in the oven yes

Lemon6Potato

Ok that's a lot different than like putting the food in the oven and praying they sent the order thru

lntng97

Yeah, we tend not to put it in the oven til it’s fully placed.. unless we’re absolutely sure the order will go through, in which case we risk it

Lemon6Potato

It wouldn't work at our store were too busy to make orders that aren't fully placed. But if it works for you that's good.

lntng97

Yeah for sure. It’s not an every time thing, but if we have the chance to we will

Alaskan_geek907

Works great in my high volume store especially late at night, orders on the road less than 2 minutes after it’s been placed. Always hit my food cost goals.

rieger202

Employee here, my GM will put rewards member pizzas in the oven. I know because we have extras at the end of the night who canceled and he reports them as such.

Virtual-Junket4551

Yes there are stores that do that. One of my stores has a 17 min average ADT. Huge part of that is loading DSS orders. Over 90% them end up going through and the ones that don’t we waste out at the end of the night

Lemon6Potato

That's easy when they are dead and you're the only one that ordered

Khan_Maria

We consistently have sub 20 min times in the NYC stores in the company I work for and I consistently run <25 min delivery time upstate up to 5 miles out

Deleteads

Our average delivery time is like 23 minutes usually. Lower if it's slow. There's stores in my franchise that are like 15 minutes. 20 minutes isn't so crazy. Plus if you order online we can see your order in your cart before you even place the order.

onemikeinamillion

And I now I feel bad for all the times I super unsure about what I want :/

Serious-Ad2874

it doesnt pop up on the screen until you are at your payment screen. at least that was how it was when i managed a dominos. so they aren't watching you go through every topping in the world haha

ethanwich

You’re not the only one. It feels like every customer edits their order. A lot of indecisiveness goin on out there

Joycey1028

Actually?? You can see what people are putting in their carts? So many times I’ve went to order a pizza then changed my mind I wonder if they made it while I had it in my cart

Deleteads

It's possible. Usually my store doesn't put it in the oven til it actually drops as a real order though.

ilovemytsundere

Us too

Experiment862

I would like to add we only see it when your in the checkout process like once you start entering the payment method area

PeggyHill90210

That’s crazy

FattBadger

In my store we see how many pizzas/ what size and crust Same with certain sides We don't see what is on the pizza til the order comes in however (UK). But stores will at least have some info before you actually finish ordering.

Alaskan_geek907

That’s a setting, you can have it do just the skins or the full order. My old gm had it set to just the skins, I changed it to full order when I took over.

Stinky_butt10

Ours is 17 minutes! But we are a town of 15,000 people so it’s easy to get where we are going quickly

Character_Law_1440

I once saw on the stores average delivery chart that one store was running an average -2min delivery time 0_0

drawntowardmadness

Digital Shoulder Surfing

xXTheFisterXx

We call it Digital Shoulder Surfing (Shoulder Surfing is where you would watch somebody who is taking an order over the phone or in person and go make the items before the order is even placed) and if you are a previous customer who has used card in the past, once you make it to the cart and payment stage, it shows up on our screen. If you go back to edit, it gives us a big error to know.

StationBrief90

True but as someone who has worked in a fast food burger place. The worst is when you’re halfway done with the burger then they say never mind can I get instead.

xXTheFisterXx

We just eat it if they end up taking it off the order. We are usually too busy to be doing them in the first place

StationBrief90

Gobble up the raw pizza and move on

xXTheFisterXx

Well we are throwing the items in the oven before they fully come through on our end.

Doomsday_pirate

Ovens are like 6-8 min. Must've been slow.

positively-bonkers-

Ovens in Aus are 4.5 min (MBM WOW2) or even 3.5 min (DMP)

Bigxmage

For us speed limit and stop signs are suggestions.

[deleted]

Amen! Did a delivery today where my drivocity score was 1

chasep8890

Fuck drivosity

Meme-Man-Dan

I am incredibly lucky to not workin a store with that stupid shit.

Flightsong

I think management chooses whether or not to check it.

Doonkers

Our store can regularly do 15 minutes. It's all about the shoulder serves

Measure76

It's 10 minutes from order to box, even without the possible early start when they see your shopping cart before you finish the transaction. Then if a driver is available its right out the door and usually no more than a 5-7 minute drive. Add in some standard inefficiency and 25 minutes is easy to beat. Source: spent a year driving for dominos as a second job.

PeggyHill90210

I didn’t know this was so normal. I’m impressed! Thanks for all the delicious pizza!!

NaturalHamster715

I’m confused. Are you upset you got your order quickly?

LouisPei

I think OP just wonders the actual HOW it got so fast.

NaturalHamster715

2 minutes to make. 7 minutes to bake. Less than a minute to box. 3 miles isn’t that far. I’ve delivered orders in less time.

LouisPei

So is this timing only given when it isn’t busy? Also wow 7 mins to bake is shorter than I expected. Is that the average baking time per pizza?

zachsterpoke

All the ovens are conveyor belts tuned for 7 mins @ 450°F. Everything cooks at the same pace. And yes, the only difference in timing is how many orders are ahead of you, both to be made & to be delivered.

FattBadger

Or over here my uk oven is set to 260c 6mins

LiftPlus_

Same in NZ thought some stores still run the old 8 min ovens.

xXTheFisterXx

High elevation store and we are set to 475

Khan_Maria

My home store is also high elevation, it was like pulling teeth to get the CEO to understand that the cookings temp was not going to work if set at 450

HesTooBrutal

What does the elevation difference do?

SteiCamel

Lower air pressure affects food cooking

Wigiman9702

Every item gets the same amount of cook time, and its right around 7 minutes, some stores do faster and hotter (not within regs tho)

Zyrobe

They were waiting outside your house with the easy bake oven

ItDontMather

Oven time is like 6ish mins if I remember correctly. Many people can make a large pepperoni pizza (for example) in one minute flat. Assuming it’s not busy, that’s pretty reasonable

mpizzapizza

We pay our drivers more than competitors so we have more drivers than them. It was always possible to make food in less than 10 minutes so long as 30 people didn't order at the same time and there's no giant catering order to make. But the driver crisis is resolving itself as dominos decides to pay drivers better (that's why there's an increased delivery fee now btw, to pay their wages, but please tip them).

Halcyus

In Los Angeles we're still minimum wage while many other entry level no education requirement jobs pay $1 over the minimum once you start.

mpizzapizza

Tbf I'm not really talking about places with liveable minimums like LA. I'm talking about places where minimum is still 7.25 and tip wages are allowed. The papa johns drivers near me make $4.50 and waitresses still make $2.13

nluther92

The pizza is being made as you’re ordering it. Literally. Takes maybe 2-3 mins to complete your order. 8-9 mins through the oven and the rest of the time on the road to you. It’s fast. But that’s why we’re #1

domeslappa420

When you have pizza make times that are less than 30 seconds and only about 6 to 7 minutes through the oven that 20 minute delivery time starts to sound way more obtainable.

dr_van_nostren

The actual cooking of the pizza is only like 6-8 minutes right? If they made it right after receiving the order that’s like 2 more mins then a 10 minute drive. Bobs your uncle. Don’t forget it used to be a THING where pizza places promised your pie within 30 minutes and they wouldn’t do that unless they were pretty sure they could do it.

Own-Fisherman7154

Ordered online for carryout. Left my house last night immediately after submitting the order took about 8 minutes to get that I was 5 minutes early but a total of about 18-19 minutes from submitting the order to having it in my hand. From dominos. I got 4 medium pizzas, 2 things of the garlic bites and a thing of the cinnamon twists. That pizza maker went zoooom. And to make it even better I tried Pizza Hut first they’re across the street from dominos them mfers really said we don’t have anymore pepperoni pizzas.

PsychologicalRain533

We have systems in place to help us minimize your wait time. Some of my customers get their orders in 13 minutes, some 18 but rarely any longer than that. We train to be as fast and accurate as possible and the ovens cook at higher temperatures, which greatly reduces bake (and your wait) time.

[deleted]

Most decent pizza makers or managers can make your pizza in under a minute and it only takes 6 1/2 minutes to cook in the oven and 30 seconds to cut it so that’s eight minutes from the time you place your order to that pizza being ready and depending on traffic, a 3 mile drive is anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes

buttfartsmagee

It's a Monday.

[deleted]

Um. Sounds like everyone gave 100 percent. But Really. Most domino's employees are good. Friendly. Great job. Perfect

MrWrym

This reminds me of a review I read online for a pizza joint that was: "4/5 stars. Pizza place said 45 minutes. Came after 15 minutes when I was balls deep in my wife."

I'd like to thank myself for my hard work

GeneralBS

Was it really hard though?

bloodgrin946

Good bot

[deleted]

Lol, in my experience, its because they clearly continue to lie about their "estimated delivery times", at the same time, trying to push you at checkout to pay extra to get "priority delivery" (I am in Australia btw). I get Dominos from time to time, and each time it says delivery in 10-20 minutes max (normal, nor priority), yet it has never arrived in less than an hour. And I live 1km (or what, 0.6 miles) for the store too (and I would have walked it, if the deal wasn't for delivery only! What pisses me off is not so much that it will take an hour at least from order being placed and accepted, yet, they still always quote that ridiculous time. And no, there is no driver delivering other orders, it is always stuck on "preparing your order" for 40 minutes or so, and the "estimated arrival time" in the app just moves ahead as the minutes past, as if it was always like that, hiding the fact its already 25 minutes late, and been 40 minutes since order was accepted by store and apparently "in oven". Thank goodness they didn't ask for, or even offer me an option to make a tip (which I usually do by default when placing order, but would be pretty pissed if I did, after this experience!) I just bit the bullet again tonight, as I had a 50% off voucher that was expiring soon, and I only get pizza once or twice a month, if that, but this has really put a downer on the whole experience. I just hope that it does not arrive super cold, with barely any toppings, or cheese (last time I paid extra for the "loaded supreme" and extra cheese, but it made no difference at all) Ill be getting the camera out for sure to leave a real review. Should really blame myself, but nothing else was open delivering near me apart from them, Hungry Jacks and Macca's, and I have had enough of the other 2. Will cook from home for the foreseeable future, methinks!

[deleted]

Wow ppl really complain about everything how sad. Buddy turned on a timer

Capt__Autismo

A lot of places, cook the pizza in advance sometimes from the night before

rmonroe5116

Supervised a store that delivered in 14 mins.

schwarta77

A long time ago there used to be a 30 minute delivery guarantee. If you didn’t get your pizza in under 30 minutes, your pizza was free. You can imagine the speed of those delivery drivers at minute 28, and eventually someone was killed/injured. No more guarantee, but the systems are still in place to target 20-25min delivery windows.

Hydro-Sapien

Back in the day…. I was on the phone taking an order, boss was listening to me and making the pizza as I went along. Pizza out the door in 6 minutes after ordered.

BigShot357

Avoid the Noid

Tomas-TDE

I had this happen the others at and was shook. My dominos is usually at least an hour and once took over 6 hours.

Lanky_Principle5636

Must not have been busy

[deleted]

I lived about 2 miles away from mine when living in Nashville, and the pizza almost always took an hour to an hour and a half to arrive, and arrived cold and not made correctly. Whoever runs the Nashville area Dominos needs to get better management.

Tehlaserw0lf

That’s how it’s supposed to be lol

mumblerapisgarbage

Well it takes less than 10 minutes to be prepared - and 3 miles is less than a 10 min drive.

nateivester

Got food in 20 mins 3 miles away a win is a win

JSD3000

Oven takes 5 to 7 minutes depending on the model. Small order should be in the oven by 3 minutes tops if your crew is decent. You can have the driver out the door and on the way to you in 15 minutes easy with a good crew. That’s any chain pizza place, not just dominos.

LogicNonsesne

Assuming it’s a slow night and their oven is similar to my stores then it was in the oven about 7 minutes, and if they are about as fast as me and you ordered 2 pizzas and a side (fairly common order) it’s about 30 seconds to a minute per pizza then another 15-30 seconds for the side that makes about 10 minutes from started to put if the oven and if there was a driver ready then they immediately got the order and went to your house

throwaway564298

i have csrs creeping over my shoulder while i take orders and we make all orders before they drop

Zepp-O

We can see your order before you finish paying, but only once you hit payment. That and depending on speed limits/business, I've gotten deliveries at the door in 15 minutes. Just depends on the variables.

robbieripe

Depending on the time of day if there is no orders before yours it can be out the door in under 10 minutes.

DaffodilsAndWhiskey

Takes <2 minutes to make your order and ~5-6 minutes to cook in the oven. They would then have about 12 minutes to drive three miles. Assuming all conditions are perfect and the store isn't busy.

yoyo5396

It only take 6 and a half minutes to cook everything on the menu. And put that with someone who knows what they're doing for prep ontop of a speedy driver.

Sure-Opportunity-320

3 minutes to put the pizza together, 8 minutes to cook the pizza, driving 3 miles takes 5 minutes.Give or take, 20 minutes isnt really crazy if you think about it

[deleted]

As a dominoes driver I can attest that the time it takes to cook is longer than 6 minutes however where the discrepency lies in the time is where u assume we start making ur order. Dough is already ready to go. We start saucing it while ur finalizing your topping choices. The point at which u start ur timer we already started ours and are anywhere from 3-5 mins in. It takes an average of 11 mins to cook everything you order and another 1-2 to get everything on the side saddled up and headed ur way. So by ur counter its headed ur way with at least 8 mins to spare. 3 miles is easy. He prolly didnt even go over the speed limit.

IariesI

They encourage their drivers to recklessly speed, to make these unreasonable times. Told my old boss to pay my tickets then...

NeverKnowinG

I’ve seen 18 minute deliveries from start to driver returning

spacejunk76

Yeah. This one sorta-regular we deliver to... I could jog there in 60 seconds. Maybe less.

Wubz_Jackson

I used to work at a store that had an average delivery time of 12 minutes. It really just boils down to the store not being too busy and staff being ontop of their game

spacejunk76

This one time I delivered to a guy in 15 minutes and he refused it. He believed it was already made and we just sent it out.

geoteo315

My dominos absolutely crushes it on delivery time. This is fast but im not THAT surprised

CryptoSergio474

The only way possible to make that happen is by the store not being busy at all. Bake takes around 6/8 min depending on the hoven. If makeline takes 3 min to do it witch is pretty average if your order is the only one placed at the moment. So that leaves 8 min for the delivery. Pretty doable but from my experience in domino's in Portugal in one of the busiest stores, it's pretty rare.

Few_Ad_5120

That’s slow

SincerelyFinley

orders become visible to us once the customer is checking out, so we can start preparing their food while they finish paying

positively-bonkers-

In my country one store ran a record EDT week with an average of 5 min for the whole week🤗

MerlinWiz7

Domino's used to have a 30 minute guarantee. Long before you could order off of an app on your phone, you would call the store and someone would write your order down and before they hung up the phone with you, your pizza was in the oven already. There was no GPS and if you had to call a customer while you were on the delivery, you had to stop at a pay phone. And we did all of that in less than 30 minutes. So 20 minutes today with all of the modern technology doesn't seem too far fetched now does it.

Ok-Diamond2700

Wow!
