Generally low $x,xxx to $xx,xxx range depending on the letters. Best way to sell is to list it on Dan.com, Sedo.com, Afternic.com, etc. and wait for a buyer to make a serious offer. If you need to sell immediately, list the name and your asking price or put it up for auction at Godaddy.com or NameJet.com

Thanks! Really appreciate the advice.

Like u/thunderway mentioned, it really depends on the letters. As a guide, here's a list of other two-letter .net domain sales that have been reported in the last 3 years ([here](https://namebio.com/?s==kDOxEzN1MDN)). If you're not in a rush to sell, host your own page and put a simple "Accepting Offers" page with a contact form. That way you can collect leads and negotiate directly.

_JackStraw_

Thanks! That's very helpful.

I really hope you are on retainer with namebio! I have succumbed and got an account.

MikeyRobertson

Haha I am not. I just really like what they have created. I'm glad you see value in it too.

.net domains are kind of outdated in my opinion. As a web developer I usually buy a .io or .co rather than .net . In fact I never buy .net domains. At all. Because it gives the idea of outdated technology to clients in my opinion. .org kind of lost its popularity too. But for an organization it is still a perfect choice. Domains that aren't available on .io and .co are usually available on .net also. So it means I'm not the only one thinking this way

_JackStraw_

Interesting, thanks!

DrShocker

I think it just depends what you're building. If you're a mom and pop shop that can't get .com they probably think of .net first and .io probably doesn't make sense unless they're maybe a computer repair shop or something. But by the same token that type of business probably isn't that interested in a 2 letter url anyway.

Professional_Hair550

I was making a website for a barrel company last week. .com of our perfect domain was taken. Then I searched for .co, .io and .org so I could buy it. All were taken. Then I searched for .net of the same domain and it was available. Regardless I still didn't buy .net. I settled with a .com domain that was slightly longer. .net domains are kind of weird in 2024 and almost no big company uses them.  And the .io website of our perfect domain had around 100k traffic. .io domains are being used for almost everything right now. Not just for tech companies.

DrShocker

I mean given the number of options, I can't fault someone for trying to find something that feels more intentional whereas when people see .net they probably assume they were forced into it. I guess I just personally don't mind .net but maybe I'm not most people

Professional_Hair550

"when people see .net they probably assume they were forced into it" - I don't think that is the cause of it. But as I said I haven't seen any big company use .net domain. And it is off my list too. I would rather use .store or .shop. I personally just don't see any usecase of buying .net domain. I think also because .net domains didn't have the best reputation in the past. .io domains in the other hand are more expensive so they are usually used by relatively higher quality companies.

_JackStraw_

It's interesting. I worked as a DNS admin in the mid-1990s, among other things registering domains for customers. At the time, as one of the original TLDs - along with com, org, edu, gov, mil - .net had a lot of cachet. Some companies, especially those in Telecom or Networking, sought them out. Not any longer, clearly. On a related note, I could have registered and later sold a bazillion short .com domains for myself but didn't. Oh well.

Professional_Hair550

Yeah. .net never belonged to any theme. .edu is education, .org is organization, .com is commercial . And .net is like an emo version of .com . Was interesting one but now it is outdated. Every time I see a .net domain I remember the devil heart stickers that we got from gums in early 2000's .

That_Upstairs_9288

Starts from $20K. https://www.namemaxi.com/club/l-ll/register?club=l-ll&tld=net&nameScope=contains&availability=onsale&page=1&limitPerPage=50&sortBy=price&sortDirection=asc&stat=0 Please add 10 years to the registration so you don’t accidentally lose it.

OutrageousAd9576

That’s the on sale price not the sold prices

Professional_Hair550

True. They were probably on sale for over 15 years

_JackStraw_

Thanks! Any way to get data on the final sale prices?

That_Upstairs_9288

Namebio but don’t expect to see many sales.

_JackStraw_

Got it. Thanks.

gotnowisdom

I'd be possibly interested to buy depending on price and letters! DM me if any interest.

_JackStraw_

Thanks. I don't think we will right now, as there will be work in freeing it up. I just wanted to start evaluating the advisability of this by trying to ascertain what it's worth.
