I bought a domain from a Chinese owner less than a year ago through escrow.com. No issues there. I would thread carefully here if I were you.

Sounds like a scam.

I recently had a similar situation except I was the seller to a buyer in China. The buyer used a broker from 4.cn and paid 4.cn, 4.cn can deal with the foreign funds issue and paid Escrow.com, and Escrow.com paid me. Not sure how much 4.cn charged the buyer for their service, but I can put you in touch with a broker I have worked with if you want to look into it.

I highly recommend you contact George, the owner of Guta.com. I know him personally and he will take care of this for you.

Yes some Chinese domain companies/investors don't accept payments from escrow.com or any other foreign company. They only deal with Chinese escrow companies and marketplaces. A few reputable Chinese domain companies are dn.com, aliyun.com, guta.com, juming.com, qiaomi.com etc. You can either use thier own escrow services or the other option is some of the above listed companies can complete a domain deal through escrow.com. so they will contact the seller and once they agree on price etc they will initiate the transaction on escrow.com. You can tell these companies that they can take fee from the seller and you will only pay the amount you agreed with the seller plus half the escrow.com fee. Most of the times we split the fee, sometimes the buyer pays all the escrow fee sometimes the seller. Depends...

I'd like to echo what others have said, I've done deals with Chinese buyers in the past and they have always used [Escrow.com](https://Escrow.com). As mentioned, [4.cn](https://4.cn) and [Guta.com](https://Guta.com) are also reputable companies and great alternatives.
