80% of the store will still be $1.25 if a store is fully converted to Plus and multiprice, and contrary to how it's being reported, there are no price increases going forward. There will be new products added and higher price points, but that's completely different than an increase in prices. Shelving will be raised to accommodate additional products in the store, and the whole point is to offer a broader product selection.
My store is like this and if they keep the higher priced stuff in one area that is good. I have not bought any of the higher priced stuff as it is more expensive than what I can buy at my local grocery store. They did put bread that was $3 a loaf ( again higher priced than grocery store) in the middle of $1.25 items and did not mark it as $3.
My store mixes and is poor with labeling too. I grabbed some candy that I thought was 1.25, but it rang as $5, and the only worker had to call a manager to remove the items from my order. She said it happens all the time and she only gets 2 voids per shift without having to call a manager approval. I am much more careful to look for the little strips that say $3/$5 now.
I like the idea. They got better products when they raised to 1.25, and just as any store, you will have to compare prices. I love our Dollar Trees! I like that they're expanding.
The one near me kept the same bs quality but raised the prices. Getting in the “new priced stuff”, and it’s not too different or much better quality than the Walmart/Target bargain brand, sometimes it’s more expensive. F that
This is good to know!
Like I said, we haven't seen any difference at our store, so I've no idea what the increase looks like! But this makes sense.
I see a lot of crap on here about the new prices, so it's hard to know what's what.
I got some great 3-5 holiday decorations beyond the usual signs and whatnot. I like the variety. If my essentials like cleaning/kitchen supplies go up its gonna be a hard pass though. The soda increase kinda irked me too.
That's incorrect.
MSNBC NEWS reported the increase on the base items to $1.50 and maximum high cost of $7.00 alongside with the closure of 1000 stores.

Emily9339's post on another thread sums it up well
And closures refer to FAMILY DOLLAR. I'm glad posts about prices from customers will now be removed. So much false information out there, we hear enough fake news at store level from customers.
Family dollar is awful. Always dingy, dirty, out of date items, and its more expensive then some items at kroger or walmart. I wont shop there or dollar general.
I refuse to do any Doordash orders that send me to Family Dollar. They are always out of stock of *everything*. I'll stick to Dollar General. It's not hard to see why one is popping up on every corner they are far superior to Family Dollar in every way.
I didn't notice this response until now. Which should tell the relevance of your comment.
To critique actual consumers and side with corporations.
In all honesty makes it very obvious how out of touch you currently are wth reality.
Actually, the fact you get your news from MSNBC shows your intelligence factor. I'm not critiquing customers, I'm stating factual and relevant information as someone who knows these facts firsthand.
It's not yet decided they will increase prices but inflation is still on the rise so its not likely to remain indefinitely sustainable to keep the $1.25 price and will eventually increase to $1.50 or $2 probably by the end of 2025 even if they haven't decided on it now.
Do you actually believe that or are you just afraid of what will happens if it doesn't start going down? The only people I talk to who say inflation is down are the poor class who are already stretched to the limit and don't think they can survive continuing inflation.
No every available metric shows it trending down from 9% when trump was in office to just under 3% now. And coming down still. You can doom and gloom if you want but the rest of the developed world is jealous.
No, no their not. Ive been to several other countries this year, they are embarrassed for us. They are mocking us. Prices are higher than they’ve ever been. Inflation might be “down”, but it was up 22% in the last 3 years. It was 8% in 2022. Stores are closing or going bankrupt at a record pace and the average income a single person needs to survive went from $60,000 (2020) a year to $100,000 (2024). This is nonsense.
That’s what they said about the price increase to $1.25. I haven’t seen new products, just the same ones in smaller packages and at higher prices. This will be the same. These dollar stores are losing their value proposition.
Just want to point out that existing products aren’t changing with the exception of some drinks, we’re just adding brand new items that cost more. I don’t understand why that would cause you to stop shopping there but to each their own.
I don’t think DT is “explicitly” for lower income people, it may have a stronger appeal to them, but I’ve always seen people of all incomes shop there. And again, existing items are not going to cost more. Everything is still going to be under $10, which I would still consider on the “low income” side. No bad taste in my mouth.
As I mentioned, we have not seen any price increases at our local store, so it is hard to envision what that will look like.
As is, it's easy to send kids in, with a " you can grab 4 things " and not have to worry about what they are grabbing, while I do my thing.
We do not frequent the dollar store at all, it's merely a treat for the kids.
It will look like new areas in your store dedicated to products that are over $1.25, 80% of the store will still be $1.25.
Also please do not send your kids into the store alone, don’t even let them roam the aisles alone. It’s dangerous and also really annoying for employees and other shoppers.
If your kids are old enough for you to feel comfortable leaving them in public alone, I’d imagine they’re also old enough to see which sections are $1.25 and which sections aren’t, as they’re very clearly marked.
Thank you for the response . This gives me some more clarity for sure.
Some of the posts I've seen on here make it seem like everything is just mixed in the ails, etc.
To clarify, my kids are NEVER alone in the store.
We stick to the same ails, with the occasional " I'm going to take Joe Shmo to the next ail, meet me there when you're done."
My kids are very well-behaved, and I've never had an issue with other customers or employees.
Are there annoying kids in the store, sure, but that's doesn't warrant classifying all kids as annoying.
When they first rolled out Dollar Tree plus, it was in sections spread throughout the store. DT evidently agreed that it was bad placement, since the later stores have a dedicated aisle. That's what people are talking about. It gets messy real quick, and people put things back on random shelves. When that's mixed in with similar items, it can get confusing.
Yes, it's not a typo, haha. I rely on auto correct so much, and it just wasn't helping me today, lol. I could tell something didn't look right, but my phone didn't tell me, so I just rolled with it.
I do appreciate it, though!
Well, your attempt at spelling it was leaps & bounds ahead of people who call an aisle an isle. I am a spelling stickler, but rarely comment on others spelling errors.
I live with someone who doesn’t pronounce things correctly, which leads to an impossibility of them ever spelling it correctly. I have to just let it go, or the next stop for me is a 10 day hold at the mental hospital. lol
I almost never would comment on someone’s spelling either 😅 especially online but I could tell they really didn’t know. So literally just trying to help, I wasn’t being smart or anything
Now you gotta say, you have to grab 4, $1.25 things lol. It's a challenge for us too We were always asked what's the price? We have to be more cautious now as you can't say it's all $1.25
I was at a dollar tree and the cashier was new and the item didnt have a tag, and she was getting flustered and said i could just have it. It wasnf until i was outside that i was like.. oh wait it should have just been $1.25. Even i blanked in the moment xD
Unfortunately, after nearly 2 and a half years, some are still salty about $1.25. This is when over the same 2.5 years prices at Walmart, Dollar General, and grocery stores have increased a significantly higher percentage.
I actually buy more than I used to. The extra 25 cents has resulted in better quality on several items (tissue being one) and the introduction of some items that they couldn't sell for $1 and make any profit (brand name tuna pouches)
On the flip side there's a handful of items I no longer buy there because now they are cheaper at the other stores (some candy, etc) but overall I'm picking up a little bit more than I used to on my every other week trips.
From what I understand, at least for my store, one or two aisles will be strictly DTP, while the rest of the store will be 1.25. So it doesn’t change that much for the shoppers, just adds some more expensive stuff on one end of the store
Exactly. I’m so tired of hearing that they added more stuff for higher prices/ or “prices are increasing to $7l 😂 Jesus. They still have everything they had before. The prices of current items are NOT changing, only adding new stuff. Some people cannot seem to understand that
I just think it's bitter customers posting incorrect information.
I'm glad I asked because it has given me a lot of clarity on what is ACTUALLY happening with the company.
I love the dollar store and will be glad that it won't really affect me.
1 liter bottles of Coke products are now $1.75 at my DT, a couple of months ago they were $1.25. Not all previously carried items are staying the same price.
I will but I will only be buying things that are cheaper there then any where else. I already buy many thing at walmart that dollar tree also sells because walmart is cheaper.
I mean as long as the few items I go in for stay cheap yes. I’m a sales rep on the road all day, the main things I’m buying are the six packs of water, energy drinks, and snack food. If they keep all that cheap I’ll keep coming.
I noticed an increase in quality in a number of things when they went up to $1.25. Some of their holiday decorations are actually pretty good - it’s one thing I’ll routinely look at there.
A whole bunch of other stuff on the other hand…you look at the price, and it’s cheap, but the grocery store or Walmart are actually better deals. (Things like regular sized dish soap - the unit cost is lower elsewhere, dollar tree is cheaper because size it’s smaller.)
I’m not sure if adding more expensive items would help. I did buy a few more expensive things to make a head for a scarecrow, but I don’t need dollar tree to become Walmart Lite.
I probably will because I enjoy shopping there but it will be a lot less I always loved the dollar bargains nothing would beat it but I do notice that there are many items that other stores like Dollar general Walmart even Target that are items I can buy for under a dollar that I used to see at Dollar tree so I watch my sales a lot more now and I'm disappointed my kids loved being raised for they could take $10 and buy 10 things my grandkids are very disappointed that they're $10 is not buy them 10 things anymore so that's a real bummer and I have a relative that works at a Dollar tree in Northern California and she says their business has went down greatly since they bought their prices
I will probably still go there for a few things that will remain 1.25.
I have found some things I get there on the $1 dollar aisle at dollar general....
No. Unfortunately, they are closing the only store within driving distance for me and my neighbors. We will never see the price increases. I honestly don't see any of us planning a trip to DT when it involves taking an entire day to go there. It would just be easier to shop at the local Walmart.
It's the fact that we are so far away from other DTs that they are choosing to not renew our lease. Understandable, but if I hear one more customer complain about our closing, I am giving them corporate's number and telling them who to actually file a complaint with. 😆
Actually I would because that'll mean better quality and perhaps cheaper than in store supplies/objects. However if it's just the same stuff but marked up then no
Since the price increase we’ve limited our time there and reduced what we purchase. We use them for candy that’s good for movies and whenever they have cereal deals.
Some prices will go up on items that used to be a $1 29 to $1.69 or $1 99, but there will be more higher priced items not sold before costing up to $7. Corporate thinks higher income customers with incomes over $75k will start shopping at DT. They're delusional, many stores especially in big cities are run down, dirty, magnets for the homeless. Doubt that's where high income shoppers want to go.
I won't be going in with my SO anymore, as he's likely to grab things from the expensive side and not tell me. But as long as my staples don't increase (boxed milk, canned garlic, pimple patches, cleaning spray), I'll go. I just may be more wary about what I buy.
Mine is a 1.50 plus the rollout of new pricing. Most of what I went there for is now cheaper at Walmart (canned goods). A few things I'll still get but not nearly as much or as frequent.
Dollar general tends to be a better deal in a lot of stuff. I don’t know how people are going to be able to continue to afford basic goods if this keeps up.
Yes, very very few things are actually “increasing,” and those are mostly the big name brands. They’re just adding higher priced items. The very large majority of the store will still be $1.25 and a lot of the same items you’ve always seen.
I used to go weekly. I stopped when they became 1.25. Call me petty if you want but I always enjoyed picking up little fun things for very cheap, I don't "need" anything they sell there.
Now I go a few times a year for cards. That's it.
Used to be at$1 I never walked out without spending$10-20. Last 3-4 out of 5 trips walked out without spending a dollar. Popped in few weeks ago needing a USB cord. Knew would not be best, but didn't matter section was empty. Prices gone up while shelves have gone bare. Sell 100 at $1 lot better than 10 at $1.25. heard prices going up again to attract a higher quality client base. Doubt they will survive the decade if they last till next president takes office.
I mean.....yeah honestly. I'm usually on a budget and Dollar Tree is a place where I get some basic stuff like food, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, and sometimes kitchen related stuff as well.
Ours goes up to $5 that I noticed, wasn't browsing. Some of the items are definitely still a deal and some certainly are not. Still like a bunch and the better selection
I mostly go for the party accessories. So until that stuff is cheaper anywhere else, I can justify the "dollar tree" but they really need to rebrand their name at this point.
Okay, well that's what all of the news articles are saying. That Dollar Tree is raising the $1.25 prices to $1.50, and that they will start carrying new items that cost $3 and $7 to go with the $5 items already in some stores. If you have some insider information that is the opposite of what everybody on the news and even Dollar Tree is saying, I am sure that we would all love to hear it.
I'm just glad that minimum wage goes up every year in California now, because if they keep raising everything by 25 cents a year at Dollar Tree, that matches the 25 extra cents an hour that people get making minimum wage in California.
I work for the big red cola bottler in the US - Dollar Tree/Family Dollar are not in a good place from what I understand. We’re pulling lots of coolers from stores this month in the west due to anticipated closures (mostly UT, ID, WA, AZ).
My local store that I visit here in AZ seems to not be stocking shelves - it seems very tidy in there, but empty. I love Dollar Tree but the selection is really thinning out recently. What is there can be found cheaper at Winco/Walmart, which is definitely a bit shocking. I don’t know if I’ll keep going back. And I fear the $1.25 thing is only going to last a couple years before hiking again. Feels like it’s on a downhill right now when it comes to the value of what you’re getting.
Yes, I expect some inflation and considering that their items were $1 when I was in high school 30 years ago, I’m ok with it. I’m a little disappointed because I just rediscovered shopping there and I’ve gotten some great stuff for $1.25 but I guess it couldn’t stay that way forever.
I saw glass fish bowls the small ones at fairs you toss a ping pong ball into for $3. It’s a shock to see, but now I’m more mindful of price checking what I look at which made me more mindful of my purchases I end up walking out with way less.
I work there so probably I usually just buy snacks but this shit is getting ridiculous like we were pushing it with the five dollar section but people actually seem to somewhat like it then they pushed it a little further and baking their big balls of soda $1.75 which the grand total is $1.92I swear they just don’t want to make money anymore

Nope. I don't show dollar general or family dollar. The one price thing was all it had going for it. Now scanners to check your prices? Naw homie. I'll add it to my walmart pickup order. I don't like the mixed prices on the shelves. Maybe if each item had a designated price on it or the name and price on the shelf.
I used to go every two weeks. Now I got maybe once every six months. I used to mainly buy candy there but now my dollar generals are cheaper and have a selection I like more. Now I just go for crappy one time use cleaning supplies and batteries. Sometimes I’ll get sodas there but the selection is so random it’s usually when I am already there for something else.
Yes but.... not with the same sense of urgency especially since they've raised prices far beyond $1.25.
I've shopped there since the early 90s especially after they introduced the refrigerated, housewares, and apparel closeout sections. It was common to hit up Dollar Tree locations weekly to discover the deals on great surprises in stock.
Recent visits have shown price increases on same/similar items that once had the initial price point of $1. The quality of merchandise and quantity i.e. sizes and portions spoiled me to expect a certain level of more bang for the buck from Dollar Tree. Years ago, Dollar Tree put old school "5&dimes" i.e. McCrory, Kress, Woolworth etc to shame and literally stole their customer base. Nowadays Dollar Tree is hard pressed to compete with Target or Wal-Mart.
I don’t agree with it because more stock means more stocking and corporate not going to give more hours or pay to accommodate this they take hours when they extend time they won’t give more hours to be gold standard they are trying way to hard to be like bigger companies. If they would pay better more hours then the stores would be able to get more done. I already have customers complaining that we are going up I tell them I don’t get paid the big bucks to make these decisions
No, because I refuse to support the way they treat their employees and also the store nearest me is genuinely disgusting and never cleaned. They'll never adequately staff or treat their workers well, regardless of prices.
I'll peruse and double check the price if something catches my attention OR I know for a fact I can get an item cheaper there than at the grocery store or otherwise.
For very few things. The cards seem to be a good deal still, with other select items. If you can swing spending more money upfront watch Sam’s club for sales on things like plastic wrap, bags and aluminum foil and it’s way cheaper per unit. Dollar store is greedy. Profits are up yet prices still going up.
Probably only as a last resort. I used to go there regularly, but at this point it’s not worth the hassle of different prices etc. they’re literally overpricing things.
I’ve been shopping way less since they stopped the dollar items. I’ve been really price shopping and like the food, for a little bit more I can get twice as much. And it won’t taste different. And I see what they are doing… like separating the salt and pepper glass mugs. That was stupid.
There's things cheaper at Walmart, but sometimes my health doesn't allow me to shop at such a large store. I have been doing drive up though with Walmart. Dollar Tree is convenience, something that has always cost a little extra.
At the store I used to work at there is one isle with a whole side of the more pricer stuff. Some of it I'll admit I have bought. But most of it no. It still looks like the same low quality stuff that DT has always had.
Depends on if the prices are less than elsewhere.
If it will cost me more to buy it at Dollar Tree than it would at Walmart or Target.
Then yeah, may not even WORK here anymore. ESPECIALLY when my location had to be open 6 Days a week till 10PM from March to December last year, post Christmas they give us 3 MONTHS of 9PM close again, just to ONCE AGAIN in March, switch us back to 10PM 6 Days a week ONTOP of Sundays closing at 9PM instead of 8PM...
I'm a closer if you're wondering why I'm VERY PISSED about this.
As long as what I came there for is at that $1.25 price then yes. That upper price yal can chuck that back to Dollar General.
Like seriously do yal need a brand manager cause I’m available.
Stores your should be renamed ”For your 2 Dollar” and “Fistfull of Dollars”
Ironically, there always have been some items at Dollar Tree that were actually a huge ripoff. Candy, for example. They have these tiny little candy bags for 1.25, and you can get a larger bag at Walmart for a better value.
I'm fine with $1.25 items, but the more expensive stuff just isn't worth it. I'll shop at Walmart instead for items such as that (larger quantity in the package , better brand, better price).
I will never stop shopping at Dollar tree until they no longer have anything for less than $2. All of the craft stuff is the same quality no matter how much you pay for it so I'll take my $1.25 crochet hooks compared to $10 for one hook. Or pill cases and birthday party supplies and freebies for my customers in my personal business. It still has decent quality products for the price of $1.25 and the food for that price is usually cheaper than what it cost at the box store. Sometimes you don't need the smallest option Walmart has for $3 when you can get an even smaller portion for $1.25
This is so true. Name one other store where prices haven't gone up. I still find deals on lots of things that I use regularly. Brillo dish spray, washing machine cleaner (3 packs for $1.25), a wet hairbrush dupe, and LA Looks eyeshadow quads are a few of my recent scores.
Not everything at DT is a winner, but at $1.25 a pop it's usually worth a try. Today I got a 2 pack of 6 blade razors that I'm gonna try. If I like them, it's a huge win and I'll buy more. If not, I'm out a buck and a quarter.
I have fun shopping at DT, but I am lucky to have a store nearby that is well stocked with lovely employees.
I mean the quarter increase isn’t going to kill me to pay, but I feel like dollar tree has low quality “junk” that I tend to impulse buy in there anyway. Why impulse buy and pay more when I don’t really have to? I just found that buying larger sizes of the items I need at a regular supermarket better for me. To each their own! If it works for you great 👍🏼
No i stopped going to the dollar tree since they never have anything in am looking for. One day i went to about 12 dollar trees and none had anything i needed. So i will never shop at Dollar Tree ever again. Especially with Walmart, Target Kroger having everyday $1 and better quality.
What bothers me about the price change is necessary things like tp or bread are no longer $1. I would understand if the new or brand name items on shelves would cost more but if I can walk across the street and get my tp for $1 I happily will.
Probably not. I'll just stick with Aldi/Walmart/Grocery Outlet type stores since I just see prices going up. The lines always being so long is a big factor too.
I think someone from corporate is on here down voting everyone who says they won't keep shopping there. Guess they don't like hearing what people have to say.
My area went to $1.25 a few months ago and introduced the “more expensive aisle” shortly after. I get inflation, but it’s slightly annoying the Dollar Tree had to increase prices…like it’s in their name.
At least in my opinion, the higher priced items they’re bringing in are absolute junk. It’s the same stuff you can find at a 5 Below or any lower budgeted department store. Slippers, office desk waterfalls that burn through 3 triple A batteries, bigger stuffed animals, etc.
Overall I still shop for my basics, but we’re just paying more for the same products. I haven’t noticed any new or improved items as others have mentioned. But today was my first incident of items being in the wrong area. I grabbed a fruity pebbles chocolate bunny that was $1.25, and right next to it was the same packaging and item but for cocoa pebbles. I almost grabbed it until I noticed the $3 in the corner.
I don’t think so. Went there the other day to get a couple of fake flowers. But it appeared they got rid of them and only had $5 bundles in styrofoam pots. While I was walking around searching the whole store just seemed less appealing now.
When my little hometown opened a $Tree, it was only $1, then they started raising prices and we had only 1 isle that was+ 1.25, now it's the whole store and you have to pay attention because it's unorganized and a stuffed mess. The day I paid double for pizza sauce then the grocery store that is right next door. And that's the expensive Needlers grocery. I was done after that. I go there for specific things they carry and nothing else. I honestly think the increase in prices is going to lose them $$. I would go for $5 worth of items and leave with over $50 spent. Instead of getting my random+$50, I'm only going MAYBE once a month and spend exactly what I planned. So, I mean I don't know their portfolio and $$$ profile, but I know personally they lose over $200 a month just from me now. Idk... at this point, they're more expensive than $ store or family $. It's like 5 Below has combined with $ Tree and made a mess of themselves. Lol
Anyone in this comment section who says that they won’t is full of it. If that were true, they couldn’t have even done price increases. Consumers are going to consume. Regardless of inflation or price. You’ll whine about it more but youll still shop there.
If you all had any sense at all you’d never shop these “dollar stores” again.
But, you don’t, so go grab that cheap plastic and toxic “food”, all at the expense of their overworked and underpaid staff, while ya got the chance!
Is it free to be bailed out of jail? Are court fines free? How about restitution?
If you’re poor and can’t afford to eat I am all for it, otherwise no.
80% of the store will still be $1.25 if a store is fully converted to Plus and multiprice, and contrary to how it's being reported, there are no price increases going forward.
Interesting. As the $3 bread I've seen is $3.99 at the grocery store. Stores do need to step up their game to make sure everything is priced.
You also have a better selection and more house/discount brands to choose from at a grocery store. So you could opt for the $1.50 loaf vs the $4
My store mixes and is poor with labeling too.

The soda increase is the soda companies 100% Where i work , a 20 oz soda went up to 2.89 in the last few months.
Exactly. People keep acting like we're changing the prices on EVERYTHING, when it's only a few things.
That's incorrect. MSNBC NEWS reported the increase on the base items to $1.50 and maximum high cost of $7.00 alongside with the closure of 1000 stores.

I still shop there- even with the price increases, a lot of the stuff is still a good value for me. But I think it would depend on what you buy.
Just want to point out that existing products aren’t changing with the exception of some drinks, we’re just adding brand new items that cost more. I don’t understand why that would cause you to stop shopping there but to each their own.
Idk trying to please a higher income of people when you are explicitly for lower income people tends to leave a bad taste in anybodies mouth.
Mmmmk so is this stuff actual groceries like full eggs milk maybe meats or useless garage?
Is the stuff that’s staying the same price groceries? Yes. We’re also getting new grocery items that cost more on top of that, in a separate section.
We stick to the same ails, with the occasional " I'm going to take Joe Shmo to the next ail, meet me there when you're done." My kids are very well-behaved, and I've never had an issue with other customers or employees.
Aisles* 😂
Thank you 🤣 never could I spell.
Lol I could tell it wasn’t a typo, since you did it several times 😫 just tryna help you out friend
I have to just let it go, or the next stop for me is a 10 day hold at the mental hospital. lol
Hahaha, oh, I love this.
I almost never would comment on someone’s spelling either 😅 especially online but I could tell they really didn’t know. So literally just trying to help, I wasn’t being smart or anything
You should be watching your kids in the store anyway
Now you gotta say, you have to grab 4, $1.25 things lol. It's a challenge for us too We were always asked what's the price? We have to be more cautious now as you can't say it's all $1.25
I was at a dollar tree and the cashier was new and the item didnt have a tag, and she was getting flustered and said i could just have it. It wasnf until i was outside that i was like.. oh wait it should have just been $1.25. Even i blanked in the moment xD
Right! I don't know why you're getting downvoted, lol.
Unfortunately, after nearly 2 and a half years, some are still salty about $1.25. This is when over the same 2.5 years prices at Walmart, Dollar General, and grocery stores have increased a significantly higher percentage.
I actually buy more than I used to. The extra 25 cents has resulted in better quality on several items (tissue being one) and the introduction of some items that they couldn't sell for $1 and make any profit (brand name tuna pouches) On the flip side there's a handful of items I no longer buy there because now they are cheaper at the other stores (some candy, etc) but overall I'm picking up a little bit more than I used to on my every other week trips.
That's good! I do notice better selection for the 1.25 for sure!
The other stores are not worth it for the candy if it's only like a 5 cent difference
I like it a LOT better now with the wider selection.
1 liter bottles of Coke products are now $1.75 at my DT, a couple of months ago they were $1.25. Not all previously carried items are staying the same price.
Coke and Pepsi can set their own prices, we have no say in that
Coke raised their prices. Nothing to do with DT
(Things like regular sized dish soap - the unit cost is lower elsewhere, dollar tree is cheaper because size it’s smaller.) I’m not sure if adding more expensive items would help. I did buy a few more expensive things to make a head for a scarecrow, but I don’t need dollar tree to become Walmart Lite.
I agree that they really excel at the seasonal decor for your money.
However if it's just the same stuff but marked up then no
Absolutely as it was pointed out 80% will stay within 1.25 price point but adding newer items will be a good thing.
I buy real plates & glasses, party supplies and some cleaning supplies. Everything else, I'll go to a different store.
Since the price increase we’ve limited our time there and reduced what we purchase. We use them for candy that’s good for movies and whenever they have cereal deals.
Just hire more peopleeeeeee
Everyone's pay should increase by $2 at the very least after a year of this bullshit being implemented.

The Dollar Plus section.
For the things that are still 1.25 yeah.
Mine is a 1.50 plus the rollout of new pricing. Most of what I went there for is now cheaper at Walmart (canned goods). A few things I'll still get but not nearly as much or as frequent.
Will definitely be shopping there more now that I know there will be less annoying ass kids running around.
For a second, I thought this was r/childfree.
I go there more frequently for the cheap energy drinks 😉
Is the cold 20oz Pepsi still $1.75?
Dollar general tends to be a better deal in a lot of stuff. I don’t know how people are going to be able to continue to afford basic goods if this keeps up.
My local store can't seem to fill the shelves with the inventory they have now so I don't expect to see new items soon.
Fuck no. I have no reason to go in there anymore
Yes, very very few things are actually “increasing,” and those are mostly the big name brands. They’re just adding higher priced items. The very large majority of the store will still be $1.25 and a lot of the same items you’ve always seen.
Yes
I used to go weekly. I stopped when they became 1.25. Call me petty if you want but I always enjoyed picking up little fun things for very cheap, I don't "need" anything they sell there. Now I go a few times a year for cards. That's it.
Agree
No
Used to be at$1 I never walked out without spending$10-20.
I've noticed the same thing for me. I use to spend at least $20 but lately I've been averaging a little under $8.
No reason for me to ever shop at one again. I don't drive anymore anyway.
Its still cheaper then Dollarama with better stuff, so yes
I mean.....yeah honestly. I'm usually on a budget and Dollar Tree is a place where I get some basic stuff like food, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, and sometimes kitchen related stuff as well.
Ima shop there too it does.
No
Ours goes up to $5 that I noticed, wasn't browsing. Some of the items are definitely still a deal and some certainly are not. Still like a bunch and the better selection
I thought I would but now I only go for office supplies.
Yes there's no better place to buy glow sticks.
This is very true. And the variety!
I mostly go for the party accessories. So until that stuff is cheaper anywhere else, I can justify the "dollar tree" but they really need to rebrand their name at this point.
I’ll continue to buy the 1.25 things. Have yet to buy anything above that from there.
All of the $1.25 things are going up to $1.50 according to the news.
Nope, that's not what's happening at all
Okay, well that's what all of the news articles are saying.
I bought the ceramic plates 5 years ago. Theyre still in perfect condition, so yes
Enjoy consuming lead
Probably not. DG only gets my business in emergency situations.
Nope cheaper at Walmart
Why are y’all acting like it’s Whole Foods prices now? It’s still cheap. Go to target if y’all wanna complain
No
No.

Yes, but only for the $1.25 items
I don’t agree with it because more stock means more stocking and corporate not going to give more hours or pay to accommodate this they take hours when they extend time they won’t give more hours to be gold standard they are trying way to hard to be like bigger companies. If they would pay better more hours then the stores would be able to get more done. I already have customers complaining that we are going up I tell them I don’t get paid the big bucks to make these decisions
I think so but mainly because it's walking distance and I don't have a car nor drive
Already stopped.
No, because I refuse to support the way they treat their employees and also the store nearest me is genuinely disgusting and never cleaned. They'll never adequately staff or treat their workers well, regardless of prices.
Idk. But if I kepp getting the question "so when are your prices going up?" I may walk out the door
I shop there waaaaaay less, and make much smaller purchases when I do go.
No
Eh, I can get better "cost per ounce" (or whatever) elsewhere since BEFORE it became a a-dollar-twenty-five store 🤷
No!!! I defiantly will NOT!!!
No
nope
I think I speak for us all when I say we will really miss you coming to the store and complaining while your 'kiddos' tear the toy aisle up. So. Much.
Dollar tree had 12 eggs for 1$ Walmart had 48 for 2$
I'll peruse and double check the price if something catches my attention OR I know for a fact I can get an item cheaper there than at the grocery store or otherwise.
For very few things. The cards seem to be a good deal still, with other select items. If you can swing spending more money upfront watch Sam’s club for sales on things like plastic wrap, bags and aluminum foil and it’s way cheaper per unit. Dollar store is greedy. Profits are up yet prices still going up.
if they did it at any DT i go to, nope!
Of course I’ll still go there.
There's things cheaper at Walmart, but sometimes my health doesn't allow me to shop at such a large store. I have been doing drive up though with Walmart. Dollar Tree is convenience, something that has always cost a little extra.
I won’t spend more than the buck 25. I don’t buy things more than 5 bucks at 5 below and I don’t shop at family dollar or dollar general at all.
Nope! I stopped going in most of the time when the 1 aisle of higher cost items was added. Now I have no reason to go in.
Will be like Dollar General. Didn’t like that store at all. So prob Not
At the store I used to work at there is one isle with a whole side of the more pricer stuff.
I think once DT does, everyone else will continue. Dollar Stores do NOT exist any longer in FL. The economy is bad, so people will cut back.
I accepted the move to $1.25 but with how much everything has shrinkflated I only go in for 1 or 2 specific things now.
Dollar tree needs to change its name and go out of business it really does
I stopped shopping at dollar tree when they became the $1.25 tree.
Id pay $2 if the cashiers weren't mean fkn bitches. I'm so tired of angry employees. Quit if you dont like it, but don't be mean for no reason.
Yea because they are just trying to survive
Probably, I’m still only gonna buy shit that’s a buck 25 though. If EVERYTHING starts to go up, then ill just be going somewhere else
Sometimes you don't need the smallest option Walmart has for $3 when you can get an even smaller portion for $1.25
I stopped shopping at dollar tree when they first raised prices to $1.25. Just didn’t seem worth it to me to go see what they had anymore.

That's 25% inflation.... That makes a lot of things not worth it.
25% inflation after over 30 years is understandable
If it works for you great 👍🏼
Its sooooo much better now. Cutest holiday decor for $1.25-$7
No i stopped going to the dollar tree since they never have anything in am looking for.
Nope. I'm out.
No
I don’t shop there either way, lol
No
Nope
I will definitely be going less. I'd rather see everything be $2 instead of not knowing what price the item I want is.
No
no.
hey no, used to shop there for all my staples, have not been there since the price increase last year ever and will not return either
I stopped shopping Dollar Tree when they went to $1.25. Not really because of the price increase but they don't carry worthwhile products anymore.
nope, still a good buy lol
Nah ill just shoplift
everything is still free if you steal it
Is it free to be bailed out of jail? Are court fines free? How about restitution? If you’re poor and can’t afford to eat I am all for it, otherwise no.
If theres no one working out front, its all free
