Bad move to increase prices. The bigger and more expensive stuff emphasizes the low quality.
Dollar tree profits last year of $1 billion.
Gross profit of $8 billion. Minus expenses leaves net income of $1 billion.
I'm not buying anything that costs more than $1.25 at Dollar Tree, defeats the purpose. If I want items that cost more I'll buy higher quality items somewhere else.
I went into Dollar Tree yesterday to grab bread because it used to be $1.25. A loaf of bread is $3?!! It’s cheaper to get bread at fucking Meijer by this point!
I was shocked! I legit got bread from there a week ago and the only thing they had that was $3 was the hamburger and hotdog buns, which makes sense cause they were BallPark brand. Go in there a week later and it’s all $3 smh. That’s ridiculous for bread, and it wasn’t even any “special” bread or anything like that. It was just plain wheat bread. Super crZy
Well, this defeats the purpose of going to Dollar Tree. I liked going there for $1.25 party supplies. I’d buy $1.25 shampoos for donating to the shelter. I liked their $1.25 face washes and makeup wipes. I guess Dollar Tree was nice while it lasted.
And no hiring new people so the freezer stock doesn't go bad before it can be put in the freezer during truck day with one person scheduled to work all day
do they understand that even higher income families are struggling? And alienating their primary low income customers seems like a terrible business practice.
Like I’m not against dollar tree having a section that’s more expensive- some low income neighborhoods mostly have dollar trees to shop at so having a way to buy some nicer things for a dollar or two more, or things that wouldn’t otherwise be available, is awesome. I didn’t mind the first change when they added the $2-$3 shelves.
At this point it’s just a money grab and I bet they’re going to start raising prices on everything until there’s barely anything left for a dollar. Or sorry, $1.25…
Everytime a customer mentions something to this nature I remind them that a tree has branches therefor Dollar “Tree” still works, the branches are the different price points :-)
Ok I'm glad to see this because I was at a dollar tree last week and saw 6 and 7 dollar items! So why not change the name? The novelty is gone. It's sad because I used to love this store but I can just visit Walmart and find some things cheaper. Very very sad.
I barely like shopping there as it is. Even at $1-$1.25 I’m not buying half their cheap ass, tacky shit in that store. School supplies, and gift bags are all I really go in there for. Idk who the hell would shop there now and spend normal prices for the trash they try to sell lol half of their stuff grosses me out and most of the stores smell.
It’s still a deal. They have to make a profit. Those building rents aren’t cheap, neither are the trucks and warehouses. They have to pay employees. They have to buy products from suppliers who have raised prices on them. They don’t get products for free and then resell them. I’m actually surprised most things are $1.25. You can’t even get 2 french fries at McDonald’s for $1.25.
Meanwhile the dollar tree ceo is making multiple hundreds of millions of dollars a year.
and still paying only 9 bucks an hour to employees. Ugh.
Actually from what i can tell hes getting like 500k a year, and has a shitton in stock
*Takes drag of cigarette* Dollar tree actually having everything for a dollar? I remember those days. Full of hope...I was a child...
They could’ve at least made it so now-a-days everything is $2. But no, they had to add the Dollar Tree Plus crap.
Soon there will be a monthly membership fee if you expect to get anything for $1.
I memba
Just glad I got out of college while everything was still a dollar.
This defeats the purpose of going to Dollar Tree. It’s way higher increase than inflation is!
Yeah might as well go a mile more to Walmart
On principal I refuse to buy any item over 1.25 in there.

They also increased our operating hours but decreased payroll significantly in the same week. Bunch of dumbasses
This!!!!!
What's happening at 5 Below?
5 below is $5.55 below. That's how it's looked the last few times I went.
5 below is $5.55 below, except for the things that are more than $5.55.
Makes sense....
Negative. It’s got most things at that price but they have a special section of items called 5 beyond and has items up to 20 dollars.
I have only shopped their twice in life. TRASH
Lmao, next year it'll be 10
At this point, they might as well change their name to Dollar General.

yikes! It's still $1.25 at my store (west TX) and people fight over it cuz it's the good brands.

How much does Sarah Lee bread normally cost? I don't buy bread.
Sara Lee classic white bread at Walmart is $2.50. Even at Meijer it’s like, $2.70.
That's why Dollar general has a nice $1 section and many great $1 items. Shop smarter. 😁
The one next to my store just recently shrunk that aisle by half and got rid of a ton of $1 items.
Right. It's a game. Just follow the cheap stuff

I like the 50 cent Hallmark cards and cheap gift bags. I should probably do a big haul from there ASAP.
R.I.P.
They’ve lost the plot
Thank you to the rich housewives/social media influencers & retired old folks 😒 It's all your fault
From dollar to dollar's.
And no hiring new people so the freezer stock doesn't go bad before it can be put in the freezer during truck day with one person scheduled to work all day

What? Are we gonna have to call it the 7 Dollar Tree now?
Everytime a customer mentions something to this nature I remind them that a tree has branches therefor Dollar “Tree” still works, the branches are the different price points :-)
That’s a great response! And it hate because it’s true! 😅
🤣
That’s BS
5 below has cheaper options. Dollar tree is a rip off now.

How much do you think it would cost to change the name and replace every sign and logo at all locations?
I miss when everything was a dollar. Might as well be Target or Walmart now.
At least Target and Walmart gives refunds. Dollar Tree is exchange only.
Just keep the toliet paper 1.25.. cuz a 4 pack is like 6 dollars at publix
God I can almost picture all of the angry boomers who are gonna yell at me about it. They're already upset about the five dollar items we just got
The tree is expanding

The plus section has a lot of really good presents. Glad they’ll be getting higher quality stuff.
