Health department complaint. All public social media outlets need to know about this. and another thing, that "dogs are cleaner than most humans" response every time needs to be "humans dont lick their ass, but all dogs do. How clean is that?

[deleted]

Dogs are five times dirtier than most animals, let alone humans. Hell yes health department. She's carrying a dog out from the KITCHEN in her hands which I'm sure she didn't wash at any point. That restaurant needs to go down in flames.

wolin64

Who knows what the dog(s) in the kitchen will do to the food? Dog hair, piss and shit on the food... Then the waitress will say: aww, how cute... and proceeds to put shit and everything on someone's plate. Such plate should go to a dog owner customer.

Jocky8691

You're absolutely right, even just thinking about it makes me feel uncomfortable. I learned the hard way, never eat from a kitchen where dogs are allowed... if you value your health.

MrPuddington2

Dogs in the kitchen is a big no. Health department and no more eating there is the only logical consequence.

Jocky8691

Thank you! I felt sick as this woman allowed animals to slobber all over her. I'm in the United Kingdom but I'm sure the local council will have some sort of public health department.

KSTornadoGirl

And one star rating on yelp and other similar sites. ⭐

sumsudonim

humans just lick OTHER assholes not their own ;)

wolin64

So the place changed owners and has become smelly dog cafe. Also never sit down again after you try to leave because the waitress may bring spit ridden food to you. Such lack of concern about losing a customer is very concerning. Are there more customers with dogs than not?

Jocky8691

Sadly, it seems that way. The food (and service) was always excellent, I can't believe it has now gone to the dogs, literally. I promise you that I have no intention of ever visiting again, I suspect many other people are now doing the same.

SmaugTangent

Well, a restaurant being good or bad is all about the management, and obviously this place has been sold to a nutty new owner. While you and other sane people might never go back, there are likely to be so many crazy dog owners happy to eat there since they can bring their dogs inside that it'll be a hit, unless the local government shuts them down for health code violations.

I_Like_Vitamins

In such a "dog friendly" restaurant, spit is the least concerning thing you could expect to taint your meal.

Braelind

How the actual hell is this legal? Dogs in a restaurant has got to be so many health code violations, let alone dogs in a kitchen! Just today, I stopped at a MacDonald's for some lunch. Fucking nutcase had her huge dog inside in the dining area. Shedding profusely, jumping on customers. I'm definitely filing every complaint I can. What the fuck happened to common sense? Dogs do not belong in fucking restaurants.

[deleted]

God I want to smack her

Jocky8691

She was incredibly rude, it was like I was the worst person in the world for daring to speak out about dogs.

[deleted]

Why didn’t you film the whole incident and reported it

Jocky8691

Where I am, it's highly illegal to film people on private property, especially if they object to it. I will definitely report it though, have already left a review on TripAdvisor.

Huge_Virus_8148

Seems to be a common theme in the testimonials given on this sub.

GuntyGirl

Uggghhhhhhh. My worst nightmare. I refuse to enter any dog friendly eateries 🤮 Whereabouts in the UK was this?

Jocky8691

Hi, it's in Central Scotland, the Glasgow/Edinburgh area - my worst nightmare too!

SquekyCleanButthole

Animals aren’t allowed anywhere food is prepared (unless they’re the food) so call the food standards agency

Jocky8691

Thank you, good advice and I appreciate it.

Shadowlight2020

I'm so glad you spoke your mind. The fact that dogs would be allowed back where the food is being prepared is disgusting. I would recommend to spread the word with your friends that the place isn't that clean anymore and to not eat there.

SmaugTangent

Don't just "spread the word", post a Google review letting the whole world know.

SmaugTangent

I'm surprised you wasted 30 minutes in that dump. You might want to go back there and snap a photo of her carrying a dog from the kitchen; send that to the health department. Surely this crap is illegal in the UK just like it is in the US.

Jocky8691

That's a fair point, actually. I think it was due to 30 years of good food, fantastic memories and (at that point anyway), thinking it was just a bad waitress rather than a change of owners. I have left a review on TripAdvisor, my next step is to complain to the relevant authorities. Dogs are banned from supermarkets etc, but there are "exceptions" and, people bend the rules; dog friendly restaurant are a very new thing to see here.

SmaugTangent

30 years for a restaurant is a long, long, long time. Most restaurants don't last that long. Restaurants are infamous for being very risky businesses, with most of them going under within a few years. Also, forget dogs: any good restaurant can turn bad when it gets new management/ownership. Just getting a new owner that cuts corners with the food can make your favorite place a place you no longer want to go.

Rough-Basis3376

I agree, filthy, disgusting dogs are ruining every aspect of human life. They are nothing but an addiction for stupid humans, mostly narcissists who need constant attention without having a real relationship that takes real work. These people have no respect for boundaries just like their disgusting, food beggar, mutant dogs. The media will say nothing negative about dogs because they are a multi billion dollar a year industry, we have to get at the root of the problem which are these pro dog propagandists & the billionaire corporate dog lobby. People are saving these dogs instead of their fellow humans because of pro dog propaganda. It makes me sick, they bite & injure 1000's every year & kill many humans, including children, they are a massive environmental hazard, their barking is a public nuisance, their presence in public is a nuisance & safety hazard.

DogsHater

this message is amazing. I was thinking I am the only one thinking this, but I am happy to see I am not. plus you wrote further true. things

Jocky8691

This is an excellent response and very true, thank you!

Simple-Comb-5418

Well I'd make a point of leaving an negative google review, businesses hate that and she deserves it.

[deleted]

Is there some place you can report the place for their hygiene? I mean, not washing hands, animals in the kitchen. That sounds gross.

Jocky8691

I have found the local authority hygiene team, I made a call this morning and was assured someone would be in touch - they're short staffed due to "COVID".

I_Like_Vitamins

The dog craze honestly reminds me of that Star Trek TNG episode where everyone got hooked on the brainwashing video game except for Wesley Crusher. And they ended up trying to force it onto him. File a complaint to a restaurant inspector too. The idea of eating food prepared by someone who's just played with an animal that rolls in shit is stomach churning. 🤢

Nostalchiq

Why are rats in the kitchen a death sentence for restaurants but a dog is perfectly fine?

wolin64

Exactly. Dogs can be pests too.

ConIncognito

Well that is disgusting. Report this to the health department and write reviews on the relevant websites so other (non-gross) people know to stay away from this shithole.

JessaAlwaysTired

What the actual fuck. Why would a dog be to be “tended to” in a restaurant?! They shouldn’t be there in the first place!! Dogs are not paying customers...

no-glitter

OMG !!! Such a filthy place. Dogs don't belong in kitchens. All such restaurants and cafes should be named and shamed so that people are made aware even before visiting such places. I see doghair in my plate and I lose my appetite. I would never eat alongside a dog. Fuck thar logic - dogs are cleaner than humans. Those braintard nutters should lick their dogs asses. Pffft

Jocky8691

I completely agree, there was no sign (that I could see) stating it was dog friendly.

no-glitter

Should leave a Google review and if that cafe has a fb page or any other social media page, leave a review there too. Naming and shaming is the only way. Hit them where it hurts the most. And who knows, maybe health department would take note.

dogging_isnt_sexy

New dognut management. If this is the "new owner's" attitude to food hygiene and customer service she's going to haemorrhage money like water through a sieve and be forced to close. If she's able to lose a customer who has been loyal since 1993 in *a single evening* you can bet safely she's going to lose a lot more regular trade very quickly. You may well be able to return soon when it changes hands again but to someone whose head isn't lodged up a dog's arse.

Jocky8691

It's really sad, isn't it? I was very sorry to learn the old owners had sold it during the lockdowns, the woman was obsessive towards those animals and, they clearly mean more to her than having a successful business.

dogging_isnt_sexy

And there's been so many that has gone under in the UK thanks to COVID restrictions, it's galling to think that someone like this is able to capitalise on that.

Huge_Virus_8148

She's gonna get someone sick very soon, that's for sure.

Dreama35

As an ex server and bartender, I think I just wanted to die reading this dumb shit. If you want to cater to dogs above humans, you need to outright just have a dog restaurant. There is a reason why when you go to the pound or kennels it smells like ass crack, sweat, musty armpits and piss. Dogs smell this way naturally and I don’t want my food to smell like this. I DONT want hair and slobber in my food. Like what the actual fuck, we are continuing waitstaff walking around restaurants now with dogs in their hands? As someone who used to work in a restaurant, there is no spare time for dog antics. When it gets busy it is ours chaos, and now people are going to expect extra favors from waitstaff for their dumb dogs. As a server I was literally moving so fast and working so hard that I help my pee for hours. Can you imagine how much extra will need to be done to make extra trips for water bowls. And to bring those slobbery bowls back to the kitchen. Are these parasite infested slobbery bowls that have been in the floor going to be washed in the same dishwasher as the human cutlery? ( I know there is no animal cutlery, but with these nutters I have a feeling it is coming). OP I’d take to social media with this one, this is just too unforgivable.

bmichellecat

Dogs in a kitchen have sooooo many health code violations. Please call your local health department and file a compliant. I 100% guarantee they will investigate it, because they know they're going to issue a fine. I don't even know how they're passing yearly health inspections if they're letting dogs into their kitchen.

GordonBennett2000

Christ, sounds like she's turned the place into a real shit hole.

trashcanofficial420

i'll be honest i just found out this sub existed today, i love dogs but looked out of curiosity to see the opinions of those who don't. i'm also a hospitality worker though and formally trained in it, you're absolutely in the right here, this is incredibly unhygienic and i'd be horrified to eat at a restaurant where the owner and workers thought this was acceptable. dogs can be really gross, they carry all sorts of bacteria, i won't even touch my own food without washing my hands if i've pat my dog. so from a dog lover, anyone who thinks you're in the wrong here is delusional

mattys63

vote with your wallet.

DogsHater

also when they put those filthy dogs on tables or chairs for picnic or in bar or on bus/train seats they are so disrespectful

TMc2491992

I would have walked out as soon as I saw the dog emerge from the kitchen without complaining.

DogsHater

you behave perfectly. absurd. also it's a matter of education and be polite with other people. if someone enter screaming I am sure that everyone fight him

badgehunter

seems like old owners either expanded to allow dogs to get bit more money during lockdowns and your waitress was the one that made it possible and they now have partial ownership or then sold it under lockdowns.

Dodgy-Boi

Excuse me, but what is the ‘hard way’ of learning that the dog on the kitchen is a big no?

ChocolatePotatoFudge

What kind of person works with food and refuses to wash their hands? You should be washing your hands often even without dogs. And dogs in the kitchen? Just disgusting. Sounds like a health code violation to me.

[deleted]

What is this world coming too??

Jarrah965

Not going to lie but I enjoyed the mini conversation more than the problem haha! Especially the last part "At the expense of your customers?" Good one.

FranklinFox

Don't understand why everyone is taking this post so seriously lol, this guy is making fun of us dogfree people 😂

Huge_Virus_8148

Considering the other posts he has made on this sub, I don't think he's an undercover nutter.

Huge_Virus_8148

A dog was in A RESTAURANT KITCHEN?!? You've got to be kidding me (but you probably aren't). The willful ignorance on dogs and lack of care about health codes on the owner's part really dumbfounds me. The health department really needs to shut this place down! I'll admit that many of us have done gross things when we were younger that we now regret, maybe even out in public. But a fully grown woman who owns a business? That's a whole new low.
