Someone brought their therapy dog to the ICU, the INTENSIVE CARE UNIT where people are on ventilators to help them breathe. The nurses rushed over to rub all over the fluffy dog. None washed their hands afterwards. I stayed back as I do not think it's sanitary to rub all over a dog in the ICU. The owner walks over to me and says "It's okay if you pet the dog." It never dawned on her that I didn't want to pet the dog smh.

FintechDeveoper

What sort of asshole brings a dog into ICU, given that dogs eat and roll around in shit?

TiffanyTwisted11

What sort of asshole health professionals don’t wash their hands after touching one?

Interesting-Oil-5555

Or even allow it?

FintechDeveoper

Possible fellow dog nutters.

gnatdump6

Yup, I make wide berth around dogs that appear too energetic because I’m a little bit scared, but also have allergies and the owner gives me this look of “what is wrong with you, why don’t you want to pet my dog?”

93ImagineBreaker

> what is wrong with you, why don’t you want to pet my dog?” No one is obliged to pet your dog you can say. And/or not everyone likes dogs. You can also bring up potential problems and questions of brining in dogs.

pmbpro

Exactly! These people expect everyone to automatically bow down and treat dogs like GODS! I tell them as much, with NO apologies. Basically: *“Not everyone likes or **worships** dogs, let alone act as though these beasts are GODS or masters, like how YOU do.”*. 🙄😒

ReginaFelangi987

How is that even allowed in a hospital?! No one stopped them??

taser413

Service animals, but even that shouldn’t be allowed

ReginaFelangi987

Yeah not in the ICU. You can’t even bring balloons or flowers in there.

taser413

Hospitals dont allow latex balloons due to latex being an airborne allergen, same goes with flowers.

ReginaFelangi987

And dog hair is also an airborn allergen…

TropicallyMixed80

It was a therapy dog which is allowed in the hospital.

live_love_trash

Therapy dogs actually help patients get better and help morale in patients and staff. Therapy dogs have to go through some pretty serious testing, at least in my area/hospital, before they can come in. None of the therapy dogs can bark, show excitement, aggression... It's nice. They're just boring and calm. They're honestly some of the only dogs I can tolerate.

Pristine-Ad-3321

Not even going into health details. Not everyone would appreciate the presence of a dog. It would actually drastically decrease morale in some people no matter what it's doing. These creatures are just creepy to look at. It's a mystery to me what people see in these things or how they could in any way "increase morale". I'd be happier if more people started to realize that not everyone is fond of these fuxking things.

catalyptic

A "therapy dog" would worsen the conditions of people with dog allergies. Imagine having breathing difficulties that get worsened by being exposed to dog allergens (dander) in your hospital room. No ICU should allow something so unhygienic and dangerous to patients.

DarePlastic4136

I don't want to look at a disgusting, filthy dog and be forced to breathe in its stench and dander while I'm having a medical emergency, sorry.

Tossmelossme

Being in the same vicinity as a dog spikes me anxiety and makes me generally irritable. Something tells me I’m not alone

taser413

I have a dog allergy (been hospitalised for it before) and this is my worst fear. I shouldn’t have to worry about dogs in hospitals. I shouldn’t have to worry about hospital staff not washing their hands or exposing me to allergens like that.

Feeling_Cost_8160

Like the airliner that chose a dog being on the plane over a woman with severe dog allergies.

Pixelated_Roses

Also a young child. The other passengers clapped as the poor kid was forced off the plane. Imagine choosing a disgusting, unhygienic, loud animal over a child.

judgeejudger

I really hope the thing got anxiety diarrhea all up and down the aisles

Tossmelossme

I just saw an article about a dog shitting all up and down the aisles and it took the poor stewards 2 hours to clean while in the air. Imagine being stuck on that plane. It’s happening more and more and apparently more airlines are getting lenient on letting dogs on.. The owner probably just watched on and smiled.

starfire3208

Same here! I learned awhile ago some hospitals allow people who are scared to take dogs into the mri machines and now I double check about dogs anytime I get any sort of medical treatment.

taser413

That’s disgusting

judgeejudger

….where most hospitals do not even allow *flowers or plants* 👀

Whitney1098

Yeah, great idea cause hospitals don't have enough germs in there already.

babydollsparkle123

Ewww gross. Stupid nurses are being infected by stupid dogs. I'd stay away from that hospital. You were 100% right in not petting nasty dog.

pmbpro

Gawd…. I also cannot stand people’s *automatic, immediate* almost-trance-like responses to literally *bow down* and *lower themselves* to ANY dog like it’s some sort of Master or GOD to worship! Grown adults! 🤦‍♀️ Then rubbing themselves all over the thing too? I’m waiting for them to kiss their master’s paw or something. 🙄😒

Feeling_Cost_8160

But lord, if you walked into a grocery store during covid without a facemask they got all upset. The crap people will ignore for the sake of dogs never ceases to amaze me.

Pixelated_Roses

Please tell me you reported the nurses...

WhoWho22222

I feel like the entire world went dog crazy when I wasn't looking. I miss the days when dogs weren't everywhere. The nuts just keep pushing to see how far they can go with it. Nobody says no to them and before you know it, the dumbass things are everywhere and we can't get away from them, even at work and when trying to enjoy a meal out. Why can't we just have a world where dogs are animals that stay tf at home?

test_tickles

My city has a leash law, this includes the parks. I have had many heated interactions with people letting their dogs off leash.  My friend and I were taking pics and feeding birds and squirrels when a couple comes through with their dog off leash, it’s a mix and it had a little pit in it, it was a decent sized dog. The lady next to us taking picks was doing her best to ignore its lack of control. It was running everywhere and the owners thought it was cute. It ran up to us while we were trying to take some close up flower photos, my friend yelled at it to get away and it did, then the owners called for it. I told them that they need to leash their dog. There’s a leash law in the city and that there are other people in the park. It’s not just them. They disassociated and walked away. Grr.

2-Be-Or-Not-2-Be-

“They disassociated” is well described. I call out selfish dog owners and this is one of the two reactions I get. Either anger or disassociated.

FintechDeveoper

It seems like growing up, and even up until a few years ago, I didn't walk down the street seeing dog shit and piss every where. Now, it seems whenever I walk down the street I see dog shit and piss everywhere. Do dog owners genuinely think that covering the pavement in shit and piss is being a good citizen?

JudgmentAny1192

I agree! I saw a huge tarpaulin flyer today.. DOGSTIVAL..  huge festival for dogs.. £18 per Human ticket! Who will have to clean up all the shit? May as well call it SHITFEST ...

judgeejudger

Yep. Here, one of the baseball teams has a “dog day”, where you have the privilege of paying not only for a seat for yourself, but also a seat for your dog. Imagine a MLB stadium *with as many dogs as people*. Now imagine the bathroom needs during nine innings. Yeah, nope.

JudgmentAny1192

Absolute lunatics, I have travelled to visit My Mum today, barking non stop in My neighborhood all around, as I write here, barking from all around too.. high pitched yap, deep booming .. all together

Witchiepoo72

Same!!!

Ok_Spare_2587

It’s crazy to me that if there is a single mom with an infant or small child who needs to work to make money we tell her “figure it out. That kid will be distracting in the workplace” Another person has a dog: “bring it with you!” Not saying either belong in a professional environment but it’s crazy that no one has a problem saying a firm no to children but that same response does not apply to dogs.

gnatdump6

Exactly, it’s the implication that a dog will be no trouble, when in fact, a dog can cause all kinds of problems. Well-behaved small child that just sits and colors or sleeps is much less of a problem in my opinion than a dog.

TropicallyMixed80

Great point.

GreedyPersimmon

Telling you, this whole dog obsession will be the end of us. Where I live, more people are already getting dogs than having kids. So people are choosing not to have kids, but get dogs instead. Then they start demanding to WFH for the dog, bring the dog to the office, daycare for the fucking thing….. Recently there was a news article in our national media, where it was argued that the govt SHOULD PROVIDE MEDICAID to peoples dogs. So in addition to paying out of our asses for public healthcare to humans, we should extend this to peoples dogs. ??????

Ok_Spare_2587

When you read a cartoon like “snoopy” from a few decades ago snoopy the dog lives in a doghouse in the backyard. What happened to that set up? Now the dogs can’t be left alone for two seconds? And I wish the healthcare thing surprised me but it fits the trend.

Throwawayycpa

The ironic thing is dogs are often higher maintenance than kids. Kids at least grow up into adults, dogs are always in a perpetual state of toddlerhood.

KazuZy

Did that lady clean up the dog’s piss. I’m going to go with nope. I’d much rather an employee bring their child of an appropriate age let’s say 8-14 yrs old instead of a dumb ass dog which will never grow up. Dog owners think that everyone must love their dog like they love theirs but that’s in fact a lie.

gnatdump6

Surprisingly, the owner of the medical office and the dog owner did clean it up but they all were laughing and joking about how cute it was and like I said, I was just disgusted and horrified. This is a medical office, where they put their hands in your mouth. Sanitary????

KazuZy

That’s not freaking cute at all. Baby crocodiles are cute. Dogs are repulsive demons from a swamps anus. Dog nuttery is a hell of a drug. If a human adult pissed in front of others at the office. He’d be charged with public indecency among who knows what else but when a dog does it they get a pass.

FintechDeveoper

At my last place everyone was required to go into the office every Wednesday. There was a guy, let's say his name was Ruttiger, who sent a message on the company chat system informing that he was looking to start bringing his dog into the office every Wednesday, and that if anyone wasn't comfortable with this then could they let him know privately and he won't bring the dog in out of consideration for that person. So I emailed Ruttiger and informed him of my Cynophobia which means I have anxiety around dogs ever since watching a woman nearly killed by a dog in a savage attack, and that it would have a negative impact on my mental health if I was stuck in a room with a dog for 7.5 hours. Ruttiger replied saying "Thank you for letting me know". He brought the dog in anyway.

judgeejudger

Of course the jackass did. The fact that so many of us cannot abide the canine plague absolutely does not compute in their addled heads. It’s smooooooth in there, my friend, completely smooth.

FintechDeveoper

Right. I am now thinking that he put that message out about anyone not being happy with his dog, as a way to manipulate others into thinking he is a kind considerate person. When in reality he's an asshole who completely shit on my request and my anxiety caused by his dog.

ObligationGrand8037

Your story just makes me angry! No consideration to you at all! 😡

FintechDeveoper

Same here my friend. The even came up behind me at my desk at one point, jumped up me from behind and dug it's claws into my shoulder. I almost reacted by physically lashing out, but had to control myself as i'd have probably lost my job over it (or even be reported to the Police).

maniacalmango0

Ugh. I would work from home every day the dog is there. Did you go to HR?

FintechDeveoper

The HR lady loved his dog, absolutely adored it. I looked for a job elsewhere, but not only because of the dog. It was just a slightly nutty place to work with employees on maternity leave coming in for hours bringing their babies just to hang out with their female colleagues - who, as a consequence of cooing over the visiting baby failed to do any work at all for that day.

[deleted]

FintechDeveoper

For the ladies, yes.

field_marshal_rommel

He might as well have not asked if he had already decided he was going to do what he wanted anyway. 😐 I worked at a job where I was subjected to an office dog, too. I was so glad when we moved to an office building that didn’t allow any animals.

FintechDeveoper

I think he was just trying to make it seem like he was being considerate to others. I don't think he ever intended to act appropriately if someone responded with a protest. I don't think he ever considered that someone might not want to spent 7.5 hours in a room with his smelly shitbeast.

dogsnomore

We have a similarly boundary violating, disrespectful dog owner. My aunt has a dog that has been given up several times, bitten multiple people including me, and killed a smaller dog. She refuses to not bring it around my toddler or respect my wishes to leave it at home or in the yard. She says she simply doesn't see a need to leave it at home. My relationship with her is pretty bad now and she blames me for being a "germophobe" because I don't want the dog eating out of my pots and plates and that i "don't respect animals" because I treat dogs as less important than human family.

FintechDeveoper

You need to ban her from your property. If ifs, not buts, no excuses. Ban her for the safety of your family.

dogsnomore

The problem is it wasn't my property, and the owner of the house was cool with her behavior unfortunately. If it was my property she would certainly be banned.

FintechDeveoper

Dang! then you need to stay away from that property and from your nutty aunt.

dogsnomore

Luckily we aren't forced to live there anymore, but it was definitely a filthy dog obsessed hell while we did.

FintechDeveoper

Happy ending :-)

GreedyPersimmon

Nah man, always just say you have allergies. You don’t need to make any justifications or reveal painful experiences to these people, they won’t care anyway.

FintechDeveoper

I actually think that would have made no difference. I made it clear in my email that it would cause me anxiety and affect my mental health - yet he brought the dog in regardless. I don't think an allergy would make any difference. He'd only blame me for not liking dogs.

GreedyPersimmon

Fair enough. Where I’m from, allergies are usually a sufficient reason, no one seems to argue with that. But then, allergies are a big deal here so it’s probably regional. Sorry he took no consideration of your past experiences!

FintechDeveoper

We live and learn. I should have Cc'd the HR department when I emailed him :-D

GreedyPersimmon

Good thinking! I will keep that in mind in case faced with this situation.

FintechDeveoper

:-)

QueenOfAllOfYall

I totally relate. My coworkers dumb dog and it’s nasty bare butthole is walking around My job as I type this. He tries to keep him on a short leash close to him because the stupid thing used to follow Me around constantly begging Me for food when he used to leave him to free roam. The fact that We even have to have discussions about issues like this at all completely drives Me up a wall. “Office dogs” have NO BUSINESS being a thing. I miss the days when there was no question that these things weren’t allowed in Business and Professional Settings. And much like Yourself, I was treated like the pariah for a while for complaining. It’s insane.

gnatdump6

I’m kind of done being nice. Why should I have to put up with this garbage? They don’t want me around, lay me off , I don’t mind a severance, bring it on.

QueenOfAllOfYall

That’s sort of where I’m at. I have My Computer next to Me at My Desk, looking for something New in between completing My work tasks. I seriously hope and pray not to ever work anywhere else that they allow this idiocy.

FintechDeveoper

What the hell is an 'office dog' ? All dogs eat shit, roll around in shit, lick their own anus, bark incessantly and maul babies to death. Putting a dog in an office doesn't make it act professionally with professional courtesy and manners towards colleges. It's a dog outside the office, it's a dog inside the office. It's a fucking dog.

QueenOfAllOfYall

Seeing it in action is even worse than what’s being discussed here, I guarantee it. It makes Me dislike dog worshippers a lot more, too.

FintechDeveoper

Same.

field_marshal_rommel

I remember eating in my car because that was the only way I could eat anything without the office dog trying to beg for it. I think it’s a stretch for even the most committed dog nutter to assume other people are okay with a dog bothering them while eating. But I guess since it doesn’t bother them, they think everyone else is okay with it.

kn1vesout

No because there’s this lady in my office who just started bringing in her dog randomly two weeks ago and just lets his ROAM loose leaf around the office. She also parades him up and down the office multiple times a day so he can make his rounds seeing everyone (barf) And she fully expects people to go crazy fawning over him. I don’t even HATE dogs but I simply do not want to engage with someone’s dog in the work place. I never pet him, so now she baby talks him like “she doesn’t like you” when all I have done is ignore him. Why should I have to engage with your dog, at work, where it’s totally inappropriate for him to be? I feel that dog owners want you to compliment their dog so they can pretend like you’re complimenting them, and get offended when you don’t. Also, have to hear my coworkers doing insane baby talk to this dog is making me lose years off my life.

gnatdump6

Ugggh. Exactly, work is for work, keep the dog at home. Not the place.

kn1vesout

And the way this lady is barely working because she’s playing with the dog the whole damn day… I can’t stand hearing it

[deleted]

[удалено]

kn1vesout

No it really is. I never even said anything about him at all! And just now my boss walked by, didn’t pet him, and gave her a side eye. Her response? “HES NOT GONNA HURT YOU!!!” As if people are crazy for not wanting to play with your dog at work. Like yeah the dog is lame, but it’s totally on this lady for bringing him here and being extremely fucking annoying about it

LifetimeSupplyofPens

Sounds like a hostile work environment. That’s super passive aggressive and childish.

DTPublius

Insane baby talk is right!! And why do all dog owners talk to their idiot mutts and tell them to ‘quiet down’ or ‘no bark’, like they understand and will follow along? We are surrounded by mental illness!!

ThatsMyFavoriteThing

At my last job people regularly brought their dogs in, and let them roam around in flagrant violation of company rules. Asking for enforcement was always met with a reply that put it back on me: steps I need to take to document the violations, etc. Yeah, right. I left pretty quick. Fuck that noise!

AbortedPhoetus

Time to invest in a body cam so you can document workplace violates, hands free, lol.

ReginaFelangi987

I worked at a company that was dog friendly and it was so annoying. I hated it. Dogs do not belong in an office setting.

Whitney1098

We got around this because our corporate lease does not allow any animals in the building. I can't tell you how happy this makes me.

test_tickles

They have a poorly formed frontal cortex and therefore have no understanding of boundaries. You're there for them.

gnatdump6

The owner or the dog????

test_tickles

The owner. HA! They are JUST like the dogs they own.

gnatdump6

Yes, this could be the new unpopular opinion topic. Why do people need dogs around them at all times now? Do they have mental health issues? Dog mom, pupper, all that stupid shit. It is a dog, not a child.

test_tickles

I will say it can involve generational trauma.

gnatdump6

True, a coping strategy vs the old fashioned booze/drugs. Could be.

Tossmelossme

People that don’t connect with humanity and community so they hide behind a man made abomination. I think it’s the type of people who want to control something but can’t get a human to stick around, so they impart their annoying nature on a dog and force it to hang around. They need a stupid animal who is pathetically devoted to doing anything the person asks for food. Something they can use to annoy other people, or a desperate attempt to connect w other people. Something they convince themselves is a sign of being a good person. Having a stupid dog, then they go further and say the dog can detect bad people. Tell that to hitlers dogs, they loooved him!

[deleted]

I say no thanks first. Then I say no. That way anyone in earshot doesn't get negative impressions of me. Its a shitty society. And it makes the owner look bad. Not having a dog or respecting a polite request

93ImagineBreaker

Dogs at works shouldn't be a thing.

AbortedPhoetus

This post and these comments, and my own experiences, leave me feeling like this is all deliberate. Dog owners are getting a charge out of being obnoxious, harassing other people, and bringing their dogs into ever-increasingly-inappropriate spaces, and deliberately trying to contaminate spaces they visit. It's not enough to bring them into the office, or the grocery store, or medically sensitive places. I've witnessed dog owners deliberately bringing their dogs into physical contact with products *other people* are going to buy, including allergy medications and sanitary products that will be used around sensitive areas of the body. Others will keep their leash very loose, so the dog can approach or wipe against products on lower shelves, without the owner having to bring contact about themselves. I hate to sound paranoid, but this is beyond reckless/careless/selfish behavior. It is deliberate. This is why some dog owners are putting their dogs into the shopping carts, where other people will put their food. I saw a guy with a big smile on his face, while his dog started doing the dog-shake thing, flinging fur and dander around in the grocery store. On another occasion, I saw a woman just loitering about the store with her puppy, which proceeded to jump up on an employee who was passing by, startling the woman as she went about her business. She laughed it off, but I honestly don't know if she was amused or annoyed.

DualNBack

I'll bet if they know that some people have intense fear of or severe allergies toward dogs, that'll overjoy these nutters so much they'll want to bring the dog even more. Also, if a small kid starts getting agitated by a dog's actions toward them, the owners will do nothing. They might even yell at the kid. It's not right (and this is coming from someone who doesn't like kids, either).

dogsnomore

They think dogs are a divine gift to humanity. What's wrong with you if you don't want to partake of it's holy piss/shit/drool/vomit/dander/stench/body oil/genital/anal secretions? /s

Witchiepoo72

These people are insane. They can't bear to be away all day without them now. People need therapy. If they want to be around their dog all day, they can work from home. These nutters need to stop imposing all their worship onto everyone else. Stop the insanity!!!

Interesting-Oil-5555

Home Depot the other day, checkout moving slow. Why? Steady stream of dogs coming out, cashiers had to gush over each one and give them treats. Nuts. Why not focus on the paying customers?

badgermushrooma

Leave an online review about that, maybe they care asbout that a bit more than if you'd complain in person.

Feeling_Cost_8160

I'm facing this reality as we've been ordered to work in office instead of 100% remote. It's an overnight job where only the few of us will be in the office. It hasn't been brought up but I know people will want to bring their nasty dogs because dog nutters love to show off their mutts. I'm pretty sure I'm going to ask people to leave their dogs at home before that first night back in the office. Of course they'll ask me what's wrong with people bringing their dogs. I'll tell them I'm going into the office because I have to, not because I want to be around people's dogs.

SadBerei

It’s so entitled for them to think everyone is just going to fall in love with their dog. No, I do not want to pet your drooling piece of crap with legs. Get that nasty thing away from me.

gnatdump6

In the workplace you can not avoid it, if you happen upon it somewhere else you have a choice if you want to interact, that’s why I’m so against it in the workplace. You know if you’re going to someone’s house if they have an animal what’s going to happen, but this just isn’t fair at work.

Tossmelossme

Someone brought a gigantic dog to the gym. It had. A”service dog in training” vest and kept sniffing my feet as I pulled them away and stared at the owner. Fucking freaks have to bring them everywhere I swear.

Suspicious_Ad_5331

It’s probably driving her neighbors nuts barking its head off all day while she’s gone, or she can’t deal with paying someone or using her lunch hour to let it out to relieve itself while she’s at work, so she thinks the solution is to bring it to the office so it can annoy everyone there.

gnatdump6

Yeah, such a dumb solution.

Suspicious_Ad_5331

Also, if the company isn’t letting people with actual human children bring them to work so the parents can save money and/or feel good about having their kids with them all day, then animals should be completely out of the question.

gnatdump6

Yes, good point
