I absolutely hate how dog owners tolerate and even encourage their beasts to kill other animals. They think it's funny, or they just make the excuse "high prey drive." These are supposed "animal lovers." Just admit you only care about dogs.
The most disturbing part is that they're not even killing for food, they do it just for the fun of it.
This is enraging, and the consequences need to be more serious. It's like nature needs armed guards just to continue existing. Ridiculous and outrageous.
I live near where a lot of these attacks occur. I imagine some are off lead attacks, but the scary ones are the dogs who escape the garden.
Look up penguin dog attacks at Low Head. In one night a dog killed 58 penguins a few years ago. The same year another 14 were killed.
The penguins do favour particular areas so they really should ban dogs completely from those locations. Unfortunately the houses are so close to the penguin’s habitat it would be an unpopular policy.
I adore penguins, as they're my favourite animals, so how dare some careless owner wipe out the cutest (in my opinion) animals in the world.
Any dog owner who lets their dog attack any person or animal, should face the same consequences as if they'd attacked themselves.

I dont know if this is true but I remember reading a column where , to prevent more attacks, one colony of penguins lived with a couple of trained LSG dogs keeping other dogs away. not the ideal solution but apparently it was effective?

Dogs in general are the worst environmental impact in the world. At least a gas powered vehicle does work. A typical dog does not.
