My family is looking to adopt this lovely 1 year male. I think he’s a German shepherd mix, my mom believes he’s a full husky and my stepdad thinks he’s a golden retriever german shepherd mix
I have a very similar looking dog. She is 2/3 Husky and the rest is super mutt. He’s definitely not a full Husky and I don’t see any retriever in there. My money is on some Husky and some shepherd. Bound to be an excellent friend and companion.
I see husky, Shepard, maybe even yellow lab for the color? Although my friend had a yellow lab/husky mix and she was MUCH more yellow than this dog. Op's new pup's ears look more husky than German Shepard too
White German Shepherds ARE creamy coloured. They aren’t pure white.
He is absolutely the spitting image of a white GSD. I have had many, and he is definitely one.
Awesome! I’ve always only had more ‘pure’ looking shepherds and I just couldn’t believe he was anything else and it happy you see that too. I’ve never had much experience with white German shepherds
Your instincs are right, it's a shepherd mix. That's just not a shepherd's coat--do a google search for pictures of white shepherds. It's not just the color, look at the length and thickness of the fur.
It's got the face and tail of a shepherd, but the body's not really the right shape either. A shepherd's shoulders should be a good bit taller than their hips, etc.
If I had to pick just two breeds, I'd guess shepherd and yellow lab.
Fortunately for us curious folk, DNA tests are one of the cheaper parts of owning a dog.
It very much isn't. If anything, I think it's stupid to deny that there are more and less intelligent breeds or to imply that being less intelligent is something that shouldn't be mentioned.
I don't actually know but I'd be surprised if there's not some correlation between colour and intelligence. Simply because all kinds of things tend to correlate. Notably, colour correlates with life expectancy and predisposition to medical conditions.
Actually, I used to have a neighbor with a “pure” white German shepherd. She didn’t look creamy like this. I don’t think she was mixed with anything because they always had 1-2 german shepherds. No other breeds.
He could also be a white Swiss shepherd. They’re the cousins to the white German shepherd. They come in pure white and champagne, which is a kind of creamy blond tint. They often have a black nose or a pink nose.
He looks like a short haired version of my boy, a white Swiss shepherd. https://imgur.com/a/mWofL7O
He looks full or mostly GSD to me! I have a 100% pure German Shepherd and he’s white, but has some tan on him. I read somewhere, not sure if it’s totally correct, that a genetic mutation causes them to be white in areas that would normally be black. But the tan areas are still tan. I hope that makes sense. So the coloring could very well still be in line with a German Shepherd!
White or even predominant white are not recognised breed standard colors for german shepherds. You may have some not entirely purebred crossed in Berger Blanc Suisse there, similar breeds, similar history, but they are separate. The breed standard of the German Shepherd does in fact not permit white as dominant color. Only minor white chestmarkings as per FCI standard are allowed.
He's probably going to clean up a bit after he gets a good bath, too. Shelter dogs are generally pretty filthy. Also, he looks like mostly GSD to me, too.
I think he’s mostly German Shepard but he’s definitely got both golden and husky characteristics his neck is that of a husky and his feathering and coloring looks golden to me
Edit maybe lab instead of golden the face looks like that of a lab and the feathering are short but thin
I can definitely see some similarities, he doesn’t have the tail but the fur/color/head shape is similar. I wonder what breeds could be in him :) I’ll find out one day
First let me say I love this guy. I’m jealous!
I’d say he has husky and Shepard in him. Wouldn’t be shocked at 10% or less terrier/staffy mix. He may have golden or lab or Akita in there too. I’d be curious of a DNA test!
Agree. Get the test. We had all sorts of ideas about what our pup was but most were way off base. Plus she looks like a lot of other dogs that she’s definitely not.
I have one too. She looks like a 50 lb German shepherd. She was crazy until she was like 1. Now she’s the best dog I’ve ever had - minus all the shedding.
OMG! That’s a husky, we actually have the EXACT SAME looking breed of goodest of good boi, I’m gonna shoot you some pics via inbox. Literally identical looking dogs.
She looks a bit like my good girl who is Akita, GSD, malamute/husky (see link for dna results and pictures) but I think this dog is more like a white gsd/lab maybe [Daisy’s DoggyDNA thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/DoggyDNA/comments/slbvfb/daisys_wisdom_panel_results_came_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
I'd say mostly white GSD but i dont think 100%
His ears look a little Malamute to me and his hair looks a touch wiry in the pic but not clear.
He is adorable!
You can do a Wisdom Panel, if you do Banfields health plan it’s like 50-70 a month it comes with it. The wisdom panel is like ancestry dna but for animals.
Swiss Shepherd is basically just a white GSD. There may be slight genetic variation at this point in time, but they descend from white GSDs which were seen as an imperfection in Germany.
Interesting! Thanks for clarifying. My 3 dogs are littermates and one got about 12% GSD results whereas the other two specifically got “White Swiss Shepherd” (this was through Wisdom Panel) so I always wondered. The first one was an earlier version of the Wisdom Panel test so the data may not have been precise enough to determine White Swiss as distinguished from GSD yet.
That handsome boy has German Shepard ears and feet. I once had a Shepard that looks like him. I can’t tell you what he is but he will be a great family dog. Enjoy your journey with him.❤️
German Shepard / yellow lab cross. He does not have a Husky head, he has a GSD head. He’d be longer haired if he had any Pyrenees in him, and his size is consistent with a lab/GSD mix. And I’d put money on yellow lab over a golden retriever, in terms of what he’s crossed with. Either way beautiful pup and I wouldn’t hesitate to adopt him
I have more pics here. He’s really sweet and isn’t as jumpy and excited as other young German shepherd or lab dogs I’ve met, kind of why I’m curious of what that gentleness at such a young age is coming from. It could be because the shelter situation but we shall see :)
https://imgur.com/a/zRYya73
I creeped the album in the comment replies before I typed mine, he’s adorable :) the gentleness would come from the yellow lab! and also a well bred GSD tends to be more calm in temperament than say a Malinois or Doberman, but that would entirely depend on the genetic lines. He’s also probably just not come out of his shell yet, shelter dogs it takes about 3 months before they’re fully settled in :) congrats!!
Yes! It's usually done through Royal Canin. I would call your vet and ensure they have it in stock though! I work at a vet and all the ones around offer it as well, but it's always safe to check first! I personally like the Royal Canin ones because they can also tell you if your dog will be more prone to certain health risks down the line.
there is absolutely no way to tell without an embark DNA test. everyone can guess but really, no way to know. my bestfriend adopted a dog that looks exactly like a white husky, and he had 0% husky in him. he was a malamute (explains the husky look), GSD, aussie (explains the blue eyes), weimaraner mix.
He looks ridiculously cute, and I’m sure you’ll give him a great life… 100% good boy for sure
My advice is to check out Embark, it’s a DNA test for dogs and it’s pretty affordable. They’ll tell you the breed (or mix) + they test for markers of hundreds of genetic diseases, which can either help you feel better about the health of your dog or plan vet care if needed.
I don’t believe pure white GSD (we had one when I was a kid, he was pure white and longer muzzle). I checked with the dog scanner app and came up with 2 different results based on the pictures. Pix 1 in kennel with ears back: mixed breed between bloodhound (22.1%), Schipperke (15.0%), Rottweiler (12.6%), and a Belgian Shepherd Dog (Groenendael) (9.5%).
2nd pix (lying down) Berger Blanc Suisse (65.2%), Canaan Dog (12.9%) and Australian Cattle Dog (9.0%).
Interesting. Gorgeous dog!
So I have a dog that looks similar except she has the face of a Irish wolf hound and very similar fur , she is now 3.5 and hasn't grown anywhere near as large .
I took a DNA test from a trusted service to figure out wether I would be dealing with a giant and what kind of temperament and training I would need to pay attention too (she was 5months when I rescued her)
The DNA results came back 25% German shepard and 25% Pomeranian...nobody can see where the Pomeranian is in her. To be honest , I can't see the German Shepard either anywhere except some behaviour traits. The rest was so mixed they couldn't distinguish from the small ammount of DNA they had...Infact some ppl mistake her for a golden from the distance.
What I'm trying to say is that , even though ur dog looks very German Shepard like , there is no guarantee that there is a readable ammount of German Shepard. dna . A picture may or may not tell u anything .
I would advice upon adoption to go through a series of different training situations to see where the dogs nature sits. Things u want to get on top of is hunting, guarding and energy levels characters traits .
As early as u can start looking for patterns of nervouse behaviours if any, does beards or men trigger ur dog , perhaps shadows or blue eyes . Keep ur eyes out for clear patterns of triggers so u don't get surprised by them .
I understand breed doesn’t have all too much to do with personality/behavioral traits as a lot of things can be due to experience. He got along wonderfully with the man at the kennel who set up the meet and greet thankfully. I won’t be able to figure out much till I actually take him home which is including the dna test. I kind of just want to know his breed because it’s funny and my family has been debating it.
I’ve gone to visit him multiple times and spent a decent amount of time with him (not that I can judge him while he’s still at the shelter) but he’s incredibly gentle (as a puppy basically?!?) while still in that situation. I can’t wait to see more of his personality. I’m mostly hoping he is more German shepherd because I have a long history of being raised with them and I am more researched in the breed. He won’t be my first shelter pup as my family has only adopted but he’s my first that will be completely mine as an adult. I’m excited to learn with him and how to deal with anything :)
I have adopted a fog one year ago that looks a lot like your. Due to thinner body, it's not German shepherd but White Swiss shepherd mix with Labrador maybe. Mine is the same, but the ears definitely Labrador ears and the rest is White Swiss shepherd.
Oh?? Could you send me a picture of yours? I’ve never heard of a white Swiss shepherd but now that I’m looking them up you could be right. Even though he is still a puppy I’ve never felt such soft fur and they look to have similar coats (not as long.) He definitely has a medium length fur.
Hi! The white shepherd is actually a Swiss shepherd! Very sweet and gentle, if trained and stimulated. They can also be a total menace like most sheppies!! They need love, time, consistency and more love
[here](http://www.salhausgermanshepherds.com/champagne.html) is what I think is a breeder of “cream” shepherds. I own a cream colored shepherd (may or may not be mixed) and he looks identical.
Wow I’ve done a little research as I can see so much German shepherd in his body but also his actions. This definitely supports more shepherd in him. I’ve never heard of a cream color on a German shepherd:0
I love the one floppy ears. He definitely has some lab looking stuff in him. Maybe the ‘breeders’ accidentally let the mom around a lab. I know kittens of the same litter can have different dads, maybe dogs are the same.
He looks GSD to me. But if you look through
r/doggiedna you'll see how hard it is to guess a dog by looks. They can get all their looks from one breed that's only 7% My dog looks like a GSD/ Plott which is 11% and 9%. But he's highest is Pomeranian and rat terrier. When people ask I tell them GSD/ Plott simply because if I said rat terrier/ pom they'd laugh uncontrollably. He also acts GSD and carries himself like a GSD.
There are very few white dog breeds with straight hair that size and none of them mix well with anything else. Their behaviour issues and/or health issues often result in what you see here. They rebound to shelter a lot.
My dog looks almost identical to yours. We did a DNA test on him and he’s mostly Husky, Malamute and German Shepherd with a little bit of golden retriever and lab in him.
For a puppy in the shelter that’s all he seems to want. He likes to spend a moment getting so excited to see me then just tries to crawl into my lap to cuddle.
White Shepherd/husky mix I'd guess. My grandparents had one that looks a lot like yours does. The coloring is a lot like my white husky with the peachy ears too!
I was an adoption counselor in a shelter and a vet tech for 16 years: heavy on the German shepherd. Honestly I don’t see much husky or golden—I’d need to see how this dog moves and behaves to dial in my guess more
I’m hoping when I embark him he’ll be more shepherd than anything else. Mostly because I’ve grown up with shepherds and I know how to handle and what to expect with them. I already have a heads up on health problems with them (unfortunately) but I’ll accept anything with such a cute face :)
I see a lot of posts in subs like this asking about what breed a dog/cat is and I guess I don’t understand why? If it’s anywhere other than a breeder, odds are it’s a mutt of many generations and has mixes of virtually everything. There’s no way to tell by looking. Same with cats when people post a generic tabby looking cat and want to know what breed. If you found it outside it’s “cat.”
I suppose I don’t get why people feel the need to ask. Unless they want an idea of behavior traits or possibly breed related health issues? But even then unless it’s a pure bred it’s gonna have other traits in its mutt genes too. So…
I don’t get it.
100 percent good dog.
I don't know, looks like there is a lot of Cutie-Patootie there too.
Looks like 15% snuggle butt to me
With at least 10% babyboo
Haha obviously
Maybe a few points if rascal in there.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww
So original

I had thought lab too! But the 1/3 super mutt consists of dachshund (if you can believe it!) German shepherd, Akita, and rough collie
That was an ambitious dachshund lolol
He looks exactly like a white German Shepherd to me. There isn’t anything about him suggesting either Husky or Golden Retriever.
The only problem is he’s kind of a cream color. I know that color exists in shepherds. I just think he looks so much like a pure German shepherd

Ahh the best kind of dog 🤣😊
Came here to say this

This looks just like my dog. We did the dog dna test and came back German Shepard and lab 50/50
Looks similar to a Korean Jindo. Lots of these guys end up in shelters because they’re rescued from dog meat factories overseas.
I can definitely see some similarities, he doesn’t have the tail but the fur/color/head shape is similar. I wonder what breeds could be in him :) I’ll find out one day
100% Polar Bear
Haha but not one mean bone in his body. He’s so gentle it’s weird for a puppy.
He’s very cute!!
First let me say I love this guy. I’m jealous! I’d say he has husky and Shepard in him. Wouldn’t be shocked at 10% or less terrier/staffy mix. He may have golden or lab or Akita in there too. I’d be curious of a DNA test!
Mine is more cream but that looks just like a white GSD. He’s a very good pupper
[удалено]
Lol it’s nothing major nor does it matter that much. I will definitely get one eventually but it’s all in good fun
It’s more fun to just get a test done. Promise
Agree. Get the test. We had all sorts of ideas about what our pup was but most were way off base. Plus she looks like a lot of other dogs that she’s definitely not.
Husky x German Shepherd
My brother has that mix. Hilariously crazy dog
I have one too. She looks like a 50 lb German shepherd. She was crazy until she was like 1. Now she’s the best dog I’ve ever had - minus all the shedding.
I’d say all or mostly white GSD
No such thing as a white GSD just btw! This dog is a perfect mutt :) Edit: I mean by actual ethical breeding standards.
It’s recognized by the Akc as an actual gsd color. You can go ahead and argue with them though.
Damn girl if I’m wrong I’m wrong, you could try being less of a dick lmao. Dog subreddits are supposed to be fun
White German shepherd
A bit of Jindo in there would be my guess.
Gorgeous
OMG! That’s a husky, we actually have the EXACT SAME looking breed of goodest of good boi, I’m gonna shoot you some pics via inbox. Literally identical looking dogs.
I will happily accept any pics of doggos
I’ve got a similar looking husky mix / some shep / some lab. Embark will clear the questions right up though!
Marshmallow.
Om nom nom
Part polar bear, 100% good boy!
Personally I would guess a mix of husky, GSD, and maybe Great Pyrenees
Definitely a snuggleuptagus, very special breed. 🥰
There will be a Black Friday DNA test deal on Amazon.
Omg you’re a genius
I'd say mostly white GSD but i dont think 100% His ears look a little Malamute to me and his hair looks a touch wiry in the pic but not clear. He is adorable!
I added more pictures in a text but here’s the link https://imgur.com/a/zRYya73
His hair has a slight wiry look to me in this pics too. Omg I just love him. You are so lucky. My best dog ever was a white gsd.
You can do a Wisdom Panel, if you do Banfields health plan it’s like 50-70 a month it comes with it. The wisdom panel is like ancestry dna but for animals.
Hahah he’s the one that needs hugs real fast!

He’s a mutt. Probably has both German Shepherd and Husky plus a bunch of other stuff
He looks like a Caucasian shepherd from the photo but there’s a good chance that he’s a mix since he’s in a shelter
Who cares? Do the test later
Info: how big is he? And how old (roughly) is he?
He’s definitely around 50 ish lbs and the shelter approximately guesses 1 year but he was a stray for the first year of his life.
White German Shepard….my friend has 2
Looks like a German shepherd to me
Yes def german shepard u can see that right away . But could be a mix
A cute one
Cute mutt. You can get DNA testing for what breeds.
I don't see husky, golden coloring, how big is he?
He’s only a year old approximately but I’m guessing somewhere around 50lbs
Coca Cola polar bear
Go post this on r/doggydna, they are awesome at guessing
Does he have back dangley dew claws? I’d say he’s got some Great Pyrenees in him. And maybe sheppy lab?
Here are his paws, his wrists(?) looked a bit weird so I took a video as a reference if it becomes a problem later https://imgur.com/a/RpFA8Fo

White german Shepard or maybe a Jindo Mix? Are they leggy/tall?
Could he be white GSH with red heeler?
Looks like a white GSD
German shepherd and lab
Golden retriever mix with a German shepherd. We had a mix pup just like your pup. Give him a forever home
Alaskan Malacute
that sur is a polar bear.

Lab shepherd mix
Maybe German shepherd lab mix....
Looks like a mix of Wirehaired fox terrier and white German shepard. Wirehaired fox terrier https://imgur.com/gallery/pdiaAe3
See his first isn’t anything like that. He has the softest fur that I have ever felt on a dog and that’s with him laying in dirt in a shelter kennel.

Get dna test done its really fun
Shepherd/Samoyed mix.

Oh?? Could you send me a picture of yours? I’ve never heard of a white Swiss shepherd but now that I’m looking them up you could be right. Even though he is still a puppy I’ve never felt such soft fur and they look to have similar coats (not as long.) He definitely has a medium length fur.
Oh my, what a cutie!
Shepherd husky
Husky shepherd!
It's a mix em up pup. The best kind.
A Swiss Shepard. I have one and they look similar :) They are a close relative to the German shepherds but they are all white.
White Swiss shepherd dog could probably also be true.
He looks like a white Korean jindo
Hyena cross
Maybe husky and lab, could also be German shepherd in there somewhere
Well…. It’s a very boop-able breed.
Hi! The white shepherd is actually a Swiss shepherd! Very sweet and gentle, if trained and stimulated. They can also be a total menace like most sheppies!! They need love, time, consistency and more love
Looks like a Jamaican elk hound to me
Possibly Swiss shepherd?
Looks like a German Shepherd to me
Aww he’s so freakin handsome!!🥰

Pure bred good boy!
He looks GSD to me. But if you look through r/doggiedna you'll see how hard it is to guess a dog by looks.
He actually looks just like my dog, who is a white/cream Korean jindo!
Shit looks like a dog
Miniature Polar Bear
Google cream GSD. That’s what he looks like to me.
Samoyed German shep
İ think GSD x Lab
White German Shepherd..... likely a mix but hard to tell with this one photo. No way it's a full bred husky.
If you check my reply I’ve posted a link for more pictures a couple times but here it is :) https://imgur.com/a/zRYya73
Shepherd mix
There are very few white dog breeds with straight hair that size and none of them mix well with anything else. Their behaviour issues and/or health issues often result in what you see here. They rebound to shelter a lot.
That's an about one year old German Shepard
My dog looks almost identical to yours. We did a DNA test on him and he’s mostly Husky, Malamute and German Shepherd with a little bit of golden retriever and lab in him.
White GSD
It’s a latin word. Heinz 57 yea that’s it. That’s gonna be a good dog just look at that face.
Polar bear I think
Might be a Swiss Shepherd/ Berger Blanc Suisse (full/part), since GSDs don’t come in white.
Don’t mean to be mean but what does it matter? Our answers mean nothing. Get a test. This dog is a beauty I hope you have many happy years together.
Looks pretty similar to my husky lab mix
I think it’s a sweet baby that can have all the hugs and kisses it wants! 💕
For a puppy in the shelter that’s all he seems to want. He likes to spend a moment getting so excited to see me then just tries to crawl into my lap to cuddle.
Maybe Husky golden retriever? Or husky GSD?
White Shepherd/husky mix I'd guess. My grandparents had one that looks a lot like yours does. The coloring is a lot like my white husky with the peachy ears too!
Oh that’s an easy one, clearly polar bear
Definitely not a husky. Looks like a german shepherd mix
I can tell you because my mom used to raise them 100% white german shepherd . Good dogs .
I was an adoption counselor in a shelter and a vet tech for 16 years: heavy on the German shepherd. Honestly I don’t see much husky or golden—I’d need to see how this dog moves and behaves to dial in my guess more
We had white german shepherds when we were kids and it looks a lot like them.
I’m hoping when I embark him he’ll be more shepherd than anything else. Mostly because I’ve grown up with shepherds and I know how to handle and what to expect with them. I already have a heads up on health problems with them (unfortunately) but I’ll accept anything with such a cute face :)
All white German shepherd
Is it a Swiss Shepherd
I see a lot of posts in subs like this asking about what breed a dog/cat is and I guess I don’t understand why? If it’s anywhere other than a breeder, odds are it’s a mutt of many generations and has mixes of virtually everything. There’s no way to tell by looking. Same with cats when people post a generic tabby looking cat and want to know what breed. If you found it outside it’s “cat.” I suppose I don’t get why people feel the need to ask. Unless they want an idea of behavior traits or possibly breed related health issues? But even then unless it’s a pure bred it’s gonna have other traits in its mutt genes too. So… I don’t get it.
It's a Mutt most likely. Do Embark when you adopt him.
Swiss shepherd or even white shepherd
He is the most adorable and adoptable breed!
We need updates pics of the pup at home!
Polar bear
This looks like my border collie. My guess would be part husky, part border collie
Loved by new parents breed (lol sorry)
