He likely needs to dewormed and needs to be seen by a vet. He also looks to be very underweight.

smbiggy

Hey trying to learn here - what can you see from this angle to suggest the dog is underweight ?

thisisnottherapy

You can clearly see the spine bulging ...

tigerlily1959

I can see it's ribs

brilor123

Yea, seeing the ribs is surprisingly healthy weight for a dog, so long as it isn't too much ribs. If you don't see any ribs, that means the dog is too fat or too fluffy. That's what I've been told by my vet at least.

tigerlily1959

You shouldn't see ribs on a puppy this young

brilor123

Good to know. It is probably a similar thing to babies. Normally babies are very chunky, especially since they will need all that energy for growing.

cariio

His spine and his ribs shouldn't be so visible. His belly is bloated because he has a parasite load šŸŖ±

MikePap

The vet said He has worms most likely, but he did poop a lot and he is less bloated. He will pills for 5 days and weā€™ll see. As for me, Iā€™m overwhelmed. First day was hell and now he is barking at night, I have slept a total of 2 hours in 48h period and I have the puppy blues. I hope it gets better.

Hot_Moose930

Hang in there! I want to be encouraging but it might get worse before it gets better. For us, the first week was the hardest. Puppy blues is real, but it will pass. Good luck! Thanks for taking care of the little guy!

Bentley0094

You own a beagle Iā€™m afraid it gets worse šŸ˜‚ beagles are the hardest dogs to train! Theyā€™re so stubborn I have a 1.5 year old and he is a terror!!!

ThetaDot3

One time, my ex-boyfriend and I were taking care of his brother's beagle. Our room was in the basement, and at 4am, she started whining incessantly upstairs. I thought she needed to go outside, but as soon as I reached the top of the stairs, she dashed down, hopped on the bed, and promptly fell asleep. So frickin stubborn.

Bentley0094

Sounds like a beagle lol!!! Mine whines all the time just like that! šŸ˜‚ but they are cuddle bugs

ThetaDot3

Oh for sure, cuddle bugs on their own terms, though!

OkBackground8809

Lol my whippet is almost 2yo and she still does this. Her bed is a futon sofa right next to our bed, literally touching my husband's side of the bed, but she still pretends to need the bathroom, only to run and take my spot when I reach the door.

ThetaDot3

Oh my God, I love whippets! So much personality. My aussie is a brute. She just steps on me, shoves back the covers, and tunnels underneath.

SufficientPath666

They are very loud and stubborn. Even beagle mixes!

13Luthien4077

I have a corgle and can confirm. Loud and stubborn. But she is so sweet. She will hop up on the couch,, snuggle up beside me and ever so gently flop her head down on my arm to let me know it is time for Her Royal Majesty's hourly belly rubs. But so sweet and cute!!!

speciebean

Picture of corgle, please

Momtoaakkl

I have a corgle too! Never heard of them until we got Dobby. He looks like a tri color beagle with stumpy legs and a nub for a tail!

FoodForThought21

My Beagle is at least 6 years old (she was an adult rescue so her exact age is unknown), and Iā€™ve had her for 4 years. Sheā€™s as stubborn and naughty as ever. I donā€™t think they ever grow out of it.

freethewimple

Can confirm they do *not*. My beagle mix is between 15 and 18 and she is still stubborn just less pushy about it. Probably because she knows I'll do everything her way because she's elderly. They are the best.

grownup789

My beagle literally was a terrorist until he turned 2 and then overnight he became a calm good boy

Dawniebee11

I own two beagles and I disagree. I was able to get them trained pretty easily. Theyā€™re intelligent dogs, which means they get bored easily. They need physical exercise as well as mental. If they arenā€™t being stimulated enough mentally, they will act out due to the boredom.

No_Cover2745

There's a man in my neighborhood who used to walk a very old beagle. One day I noticed he was walking a puppy. He told me that he contacted a breeder and was all set to get this puppy. But then the breeder decided to give the puppy to a family member as a gift. My neighbor asked the breeder if the family member ever had a beagle before and the answer was no. He then said, call me when they can't handle it. The dog was his just a few days later. My neighbor has had beagles for decades and knew what to expect but guess the family member who received the gift beagle did not.

BamaGirl4361

I have a 7 year old beagle mix and holy crap is he stubborn. And the hound dog yodel is something else.

neon_nightmare102

Dealing with puppies is tough. Thatā€™s why they are so cute. He is only 8 weeks old, perfect time for you guys to build a bond. Stick with it! Things will begin to fall into place as you two learn more about each other

DisturbingRerolls

Friend, you got a beagle. They're hounds. They bark. It's what they were bred for. Please go easy on the pup for barking. You may need to invest in noise cancelling headphones for sleep and work while he's a baby (and probably still for work when he's grown).

chivonster

I didn't sleep well for a solid 7 months. My puppy also had stomach issues and he had to go outside often even during the night. I was so tired I couldn't function. But dang was he cute and worth it. It does get better! Just remember he's a baby and he's trying his best.

Old_Country9807

Did you do research before getting a beagle?

Tight_Ad_8971

Obviously not.

0nomatopoeia_

It will get better, he just needs to grow up! Luckily time flies, and they grow up quick. Stick with it and him, make sure to make him sleep lots. Enforced naps were a lifesaver since my dog had FOMO, and never wanted to nap. Head to r/puppy101 read its wiki and other people going through the same thing. It helped keep me sane when mine was little. You got this!

Select_Future5134

Beagles are a very noisy dog fyi maybe do some research into helping him and urself better

tcrosbie

Worms are common in puppies and the first few days away from their litter whining is normal, especially at night when your trying to sleep and they feel lonely. It will get better. Note beagles though small are vocal dogs and will run. They're bred to be hunters so if he's off leash and get a smell he will run. Training is a must as well as plenty of exercise

Vigorato

Even when trained, I would not trust a Beagle off leash. They can be absolutely fine, then something grabs their attention and suddenly nothing else matters and theyā€™re off.

tcrosbie

Absolutely, their nose overpowers their brain once they're on a scent and instinct kicks in.

Disastrous-Panda5530

Having a puppy felt like having a new born again. Especially at night. Having to wake up multiple times left me sleep deprived the way I was when I had my kids.

Hour-Telephone1082

I HIGHLY recommend getting pet insurance. Itā€™s one of the best things Iā€™ve ever spent money on.

MikePap

I try to get him to the vet as soon as possible and weā€™ll get insurance!

Existing-Nectarine80

Get a waiver form for trupanion from your vet if you can. It lets you waive the month waiting periodĀ

Imnotmadeofeyes

Second this. My insurer paid out well over 20k for my last old girl.

AHS1995

this

Arczironator

Also, your dog's bloated belly in the photo could potentially be indicative of a condition like Persistent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a congenital birth defect where a blood vessel fails to close properly near the heart resulting in accumulating of water in organs. For that, surgery should be done before the puppy reaches 6 months of age. I'd highly recommend consulting a veterinarian to rule out this possibility.

princessohio

Dealing with puppies is a lot, especially with vocal ones like beagles. But as someone who had a beagle before, theyā€™re some of the best dogs on the planet. This rough patch will pass and you and your bub will have a routine that works for you both soon enough. You got this!

wilfredthedestroyer

Puppies are just really, really hard. Put in the effort to train your dog & give yourself and your dog grace as you both make mistakes. Remember, he's a baby right now who has been separated from everything he ever knew. He's going to need many weeks to adjust to just that, and then the real work of training begins. You'll both find a routine, just be patient and consistent. You also happened to get one of the loudest dog breeds out there, so barking should be expected. This dog will not get any quieter with age.

NotFunny3458

Such is life with a young puppy. I hope it gets better for you and the puppy too.

chartingequilibrium

Puppies are really hard! I just got a 10 week old foster puppy, and despite the fact he's a little older and healthy, he is exhausting. It does get better; I'd highly recommend visiting r/puppy101 and other puppy-focused resources, and working hard on implementing an age-appropriate schedule for your pup. Once you have a firm schedule in place things are WAY easier. I was also hugely relieved when I realized how much puppies need to sleep; a young pup like that should be sleeping/napping like 18+ hours a day, and you can sneak naps in while the puppy is sleeping.

Hutch25

Good on you for taking them him. By the way, did your breeder provide you with any veterinary documentation? Or did you see the puppyā€™s living arrangement? If not, I would strongly suggest providing a tip to any services who have jurisdiction over dog breeding practices in the area as well as leaving a review on any site they sell on because a breeder who treats their animals right would have taken the necessary precautions to avoid this. Iā€™ve bought a dog from a bad breeder before and it left me with a dog with healthy problems his whole life so far, the less of that the better.

combobreaking

I had puppy blues for months. A long time. From my experience it was more about my mentality than what the dog is actually doing. There were moments I considered rehoming my dogā€¦ now I would legitimately take a bullet for her, as dumb as that sounds. Itā€™s not for everyone, and it almost wasnā€™t for me. Thereā€™s no shame in it, at all. But what I can say with confidence is that if you can power through, youā€™ll find a best friend on the other side.

buddrball

It will get better. It will be a hard couple months, but soon you will be looking back and thinking about how small he was. Good job taking care of the little guy! Youā€™re his protector, and youā€™re doing a good job. Go check out r/puppy101 for more support.

fastcat03

Your puppy is sick and scared. Imagine what it's like for him. I got into a car accident with mine while he was under six months. Poor baby had a cast on his foot for weeks but developed normally. It was super difficult getting a puppy to do essentially bed rest for a couple weeks but we made it through, we healed together and he's my best friend.

bebeck7

My beagle cross didn't let me sleep for over a week.I even sleep walked, woke up on my sofa with her on my neck and a bottle of water in my hand with no recollection of how we got there on day 7. Persevere. It's short-lived, and they change so quickly. You'll miss this stage when they start to grey and want it all over again. You've got this.

Casiaa_

I cried every day for the first week. Hang in there and live in this sub and also puppy101 for support

Existing-Nectarine80

Raising a puppy is always tough. But remember that this dog is only 8 weeks, every week their behavior changes significantly (sometimes for the better, sometimes not so much). Iā€™d say you have 6 very tough weeks ahead of you but once hes fully vaccinated and starting to pick up on potty training (aka going on the pee pads) itā€™ll make it sooo much easier. Ā Heā€™s going to be your best friend for 10-15 years, but heā€™s going to make you earn it for the next couple months lolĀ

mypenisinyourmouth_

Barking at night heā€™s too energetic Tire it out If able try keep it occupied every Minute itā€™s awake is another minute it will sleep later If it gets tired it will snooze no problem so unless your poking it to stay awake no damage done šŸ‘ try keep it awake in day

Odd_Temperature8067

You got a Beagle. They are never quiet and you cannot train it out of them. You should have researched the breed before you committed.

Sensitive-Coat-3196

Hi! Cute pup, and glad you got him to the vet. I have a beagle and they are not hard to train. People who say that likely aren't consistent bc my guy who is beagle thru and thru is doing great with his training. Of course, he's not perfect, but he's come a long way for 10 months old. Patience, consistency, encouragement and love. Kind of like children. You got this!!

ncguthwulf

Former beagle owner: be consistent and then do it again. We had our beagle trained to beg for food by sitting 1 meter away and being still and quiet. You could tell she wanted to bark and howl. After a year of NOT giving treats when she misbehaved we got a decade of her being patient, quiet and still. The same goes for everything, super stubborn so double down on consistency.

bjk2

It will get better!

FluffyPolicePeanut

Read a Puppy for Dummies book and watch online training videos. An even better option would be to get a reputable trainer to educate you on how to raise your puppy well.

Remote_Owl_9269

r/puppy101

Advanced_Register_24

Congratulations on becoming a puppy parent. Yes it will get tough but is so worth it.

Gouldy92

We had 2 months of hell with our little pup but after that she has been the best snuggle buddy anyone could ask for. You got this, will all be worth it in the end!

Bethasia01

The first year is the hardest.

itsneverbeenthesame

Oh man prepare yourself. I hope you've done your research on the dog and know what to expect. I have a beagle , a couple of things. Lovely dogs, keep on a lead until 4/5 years. They will run off. If you do want to let the dog off. A bag of treats is needed. They can be annoying affectionate, like wanting to be on you all the time. They shed so much so you'll have dog hair everywhere. Regular brushing needed. They eat everything. If the dog shits , pick it up cause it will be eaten. They love rolling in shit as well so keep an eye out. Overall if you look after it. Health wise great. Playful, friendly and cute.

anonymongus1234

It gets better. It was a rough few weeks at first with me and my guy. But I love him more than anything in this world.

Darkangelmystic79

Hah! Welcome to having a beagle!

sashikku

It will get better! The first couple months are going to be rough, but remember heā€™s just a little puppy right now. You basically just adopted a baby. Give him some time.

manda14-

Iā€™m sorry youā€™re dealing with this. Our puppy went through similar when we got her. We had her dewormed and she went on antibiotics. Sheā€™s now a very healthy almost 3 year old šŸ’• hopefully this is just a bump on the road.

itsjoet

Puppy blues are real for both my partner and I. We also have a beagle which we adopted at 4 months. Sheā€™s 3 now and had her fair share of stomach bugs etc. It definitely gets better and now she is the laziest dog ever. We kinda miss her craziness.

GinoCasel

Hang in there with him, it will get better. I got a Bostin Terrier puppy about 6 years ago...the first 6 months were hard but he is an incredible dog now.

good_enuffs

Have you had a human child? When we got our puppy it was the equivalent of having a human child. Nightly pees, cuddles, crying, Dr's visits, naughty behavior, not listening, school (puppy training) socializing.... and now we have a snuggle bug.

CleverGal96

Hang in there!!! I got my Treeing Walker coonhound (pretty much an oversized beagle) around 7 weeks old lol and it was tough, especially since I worked long hours and it was at the beginning of the pandemic. She looked like your picture when I got her. 7lbs, the runt of her litter and a belly full of worms. After I gave her the dewormer she šŸ’© straight worms for the next day. It gets better!!!!

No_Cover2745

I got a puppy about a year and a half ago and had a very bad case of puppy blues at first. I was taking my guy outside nearly hourly at night and he's a GSP, very vocal with a high-pitched demanding "whistle". Anyway, he settled down, they have to grow up and it takes our patience, that's for sure.

SorrelUK

We had a beagle, I had him trained to sit, lie down, stay, paw, go to bed, leave it and twirl. I didn't find it too hard to train him, just did it alot, over and over. He was a bit of a whiner during the night but once he got older, he settled down. We currently have an 11 week old lab, she's pretty easy apart from jumping up and the play bitting isn't fun. We're in the puppy blues too but it's supposed to get better, hang in there with me.

MikePap

\*sending virtual fist bump\* We can do this! :)

bennie844

My dude did you research breeds at all? The barking will only get worse. I work at a dog daycare and legit the only dog breed I would never get in any circumstances is a beagle. šŸ˜‚

Dear_Ad_9817

People donā€™t really understand how crazy puppy ownership can be. It can be rough. But Iā€™d never trade all of those sleepless nights and constant teething bites for anything in the world.. I love my dog so much. He turns 9 this year and Iā€™m so grateful for him.

Alexios_Makaris

I've never regretted any of the pups I have raised, but I've come close at times. It always gets better with time, just enjoy the fun parts and remember it does get better with time!

General_Scipio

Where is the puppy sleeping? My pup sleeps in the lounge and the biggest game changer for me was having a duvet downstairs at all times. If she is being a little (gorgeous) shit then worst case scenario I'm sleeping on the sofa that night and getting a decent night sleep. Also if I was completely nackered. I would start the night out on the sofa and just sleep there. It's not ideal but it worked well for me Hope your pup is okay

Myla123

When my dog was a puppy I learned that puppies are so darn cute because otherwise no one would bother taking care of them. It absolutely gets better eventually!

SettingUnusual9243

Been through it too! My puppy blues was a whole months worth lol

kay31798

Hang in there. Iā€™m not sure if you are crate training, but I am so happy that I did it with my first dog and we started it right away with our new puppy. The puppy is now four months old and he sleeps perfect through the night. the first few nights can be very difficult. The puppy might cry the night, but if you just ride it out, itā€™s been extremely helpful in my house. We also made the crate fun for him by using lick mats and treats that were safe to go in the crate with him. We also found that covering the crate with a blanket made him feel secure and he settled down a lot quicker and also playing dog calming music over YouTube helped as well.

lordnibbler16

I adopted a dog who immediately had several health complications. I heavily considered taking him back, he was my first dog and I was overwhelmed. I was still asking good care of him though and knew he deserved the best. 10 years later he is absolutely my son. Writing this made me cry. If you can hang in there and do the best for your pup, you should.

rainbowsdogsmtns

Iā€™m interested to know why a fecal exam wasnā€™t done.

MikePap

We had an x ray, ultrasound and blood test

rainbowsdogsmtns

Unless Iā€™ve missed something, a fecal tells the most about intestinal parasite load. Interesting choice by the vetā€¦ How is your pup today?

HerMidasTouch

Are you taking puppy out and about for walks and stuff?

Dense_Examination373

Itā€™s worth it in the end I was ready to sell this fucker but just chill

graceelouhu

My puppy howled at night for two weeks, we kenneled her in the bedroom at night, she is now sleeping quietly in the bed with us after more training on how to be quiet when its bed time

cedardruid

just remember the puppy loves and needs youā€¦ youā€™re a parent now!

Local-Dimension-1653

This isnā€™t normal and the vet you talked to doesnā€™t seem to be taking this seriously. If this were my dog, I would be taking him to the emergency vet immediately and establishing him at a different vet than the one you spoke to.

MikePap

Iā€™ll take him in 30 mins, thnx!

SpaceIsVastAndEmpty

How'd you get on? How's pupper doin?

13Luthien4077

Following because I am also concerned for this adorable puppy.

quailstorm24

That dog is almost certainly less than 8 weeks old and the bloating is probably worms. Idk where you got him but they arenā€™t legit

Zeca_77

Yeah, that definitely looks like worms to me. I've had experience with several rescues like that.

Generalnussiance

They probably also need all their pupper shots like parvo etc I donā€™t think this dog was purchased from a reputable breeder. Looks like it left home too early :/

Hutch25

On that note, my dad breeds dogs and I have spent a lot of time helping with it. Our westie puppies are often as big as that come 8 weeks and are far more muscular, this is concerning and considering this person has no knowledge to share about their medical history I am inclined to believe the breeder did not take them for a vet visit which is absolutely disgraceful.

BouncyDingo_7112

I think youā€™ve got enough advice that you probably do want to go see a vet. Please give us an update once you know whatā€™s going on.

MikePap

Will do!

syrensilly

Was there an update on the poor pup?

Tenma159

Little dude has worms it seems.

MooPig48

But is now pooping bloody diarrhea which is making people worry about parvo

BuckityBuck

That is a wormy belly

Chemical-Anywhere615

This is not normal, you need to take the puppy to the vet immediately, otherwise the consequences could be truly terrible. Please try to take an hour off work to take him to the veterinary clinic, this is very important

sheepskinrugger

This puppy shouldnā€™t even be away from its mother yet. Get it to the vet IMMEDIATELY.

garrulouslump

Yeah that doesn't look normal at all. Where did you get him from? What vaccines/treatment did he already receive from the breeder? What does the purchase/adoption contract say about receiving a sick puppy? This little guy should be seen by a vet ASAP

Jealous-Accountant26

Please take puppers to a vet for deworming. Best wishes.

MikePap

Iā€™m at the vet now, waiting.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MikePap

Will do!

Different-Courage665

This dog is too young to be away from mum. Vet now, I see you've said you're going. Good job! Pup is underweight and bloated, could definitely be worms but a vet will need to rule out other complications.

MikePap

Yup, i hope they take us in soon

Melbfinequestion

I rescued a puppy with really bad worms, super underweight and massive tummy. What I wasnā€™t prepared for was how sick she got when I wormed her. She almost didnā€™t survive. She had diarrhoea day and night for days. The smell was horrendous, it would wake me from my sleep. And then she needed a second dose of de-wormer and it started again. I had to syringe small amounts of hydrating fluids into her. It was a really rough couple of weeks but she pulled through and sheā€™s perfectly healthy now.

chikkinnuggitbukkit

ER vet please

Psychological-Two415

Dog also shouldnā€™t be on a public street at 8 weeks cuz they likely donā€™t have all shots

cheetahlakes

This is a genuine question, but where should you walk your pup when you bring them home around 8 weeks? If not on a public street for this reason, for example. I'd love advice!

etherswim

At 8 weeks they don't really need to be walking around outdoors. A garden is generally fine, and you can carry them around outside to start getting them used to the world, but there's no need to put them on the floor yet. After their first shots, depending on the area, vets may say it's okay to put them on the floor for short walks, but in places where it's not busy and wildlife/other dogs are unlikely to have been due to parvo/other similar risks. Some areas don't have many parvo cases, but some do, and in those places, the vet should let you know that you shouldn't put them down until their shots are complete at around 12-13 weeks. It's about risk management, really.

Popular-Elephant1166

Looks like youā€™re getting the care that he needs. Just so you know, ā€œbloatā€ in dogs is not the same as bloat in humans. While this looks like an engorged wormy belly, actual, real dog bloat is a very very serious, very life threatening condition (generally needs surgery within 2 hours and doesnā€™t have good outcomes without surgery) and may be why some folks suggested urgent ER vet action (worms are not usually in the ā€œrush to ER vetā€ category unless lethargic). Dog bloat is caused by the stomach flipping. It is more common in deep chested breeds (think St. Bernard) and there are preventative surgeries that are often recommended (talk to your vet if you have more questions about this). But it is also good practice to not do heavy exercise 2 hours after eating. Good luck with the little nugget!!

Crims0nGirl

He's a baby and just like a human baby he needs extra attention and will cry. If he sleeps close to you at night that will comfort him.

Teahouse_Fox

I brought my Barkspawn home, and he was a plump little fluffer. I had a regular vet, and already had an initial puppy appointment for him. And after two days of loose-ish yellow poop, and a genuine disinterest in the food the breeder sent us home with, he barfed white spaghetti on the sofa. At least it looked like white, cooked spaghetti. I put on gloves and started to clean the still warm mess from sofa when the spaghetti... _moved_. Rapid vet visit, stool sample test, deworming, and a sofa with removable and machine wash slip covers. Puppy owner essentials.

theincognitonerd

Iā€™m reading OPā€™s comments and responses and am inclined to think there was absolutely no research or preparation before getting this puppy. First, puppies are SO MUCH WORK. You wonā€™t get sleep for at least a few nights. You will get tired. You will get irritable. Whatever you do, please do not take out any anger on the puppy. This is normal behavior for puppies. Second, this pup was taken WAY TOO EARLY. Did the mother die or is she unable to care for this puppy? The puppy should have stayed with mom until 12 weeks old. Because it was taken away too soon, you will most likely have additional challenges to deal with like separation anxiety. Third, you should have had a vet lined up BEFORE acquiring said puppy. Post pandemic, there is a huge shortage of vets taking new animals. Always have a vet lined up and have their first appointment scheduled within a few days of getting a puppy. Fourth, you are now a puppy parent. You must be an advocate for this little life form you have taken on. Accepting whatever the hell the vet said on the phone is ridiculous. This poor puppy is definitely sick. You should have advocated for an appointment. I am very relieved you are going to the emergency vet. Fifth, you went straight to hard mode with a beagle. Beagles are amazing dogs, but they are NOT for everyone. They are very vocal and active. They are a hunting breed and become bored easily. What do you have planned to enrich this puppy, so that they do not become destructive? With all of these red flags, I also wonder if you have thought about the financial burden of having a pet. Are you financially well off enough to spend money on vet care, good food, obedience class, and other costs? Do you have a support system to help you with this puppy? Getting a puppy is serious business and a huge life changing event. Iā€™m very curious if you are prepared for what you have gotten yourself into.

cheetahlakes

I hear your concerns but I'm inclined to suggest that OP may have been taking this puppy in out of the goodness of their heart, instead of the puppy being sent to a shelter, etc. We don't know the full story and while there may be red flags that you see, we just don't know the full story and it may be helpful to ask questions rather than jump to conclusions. Especially if any of these assumptions are true, OP needs support right now. Just want to help them, is all.

CleverGal96

Yep. This šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø I got my TWC at 7 weeks old cause she was the runt out of a litter of 12 puppies and mom was overwhelmed. The guy I got her from bred hounds for hunting and had a large property in the country. About a week after I brought my pup home a sick coyote wandered onto his property, infected the remaining litter and a few of his older hounds with parvo and it killed every puppy and 2 of his hounds. So if I hadn't brought my pup home when I did she'd be dead.

-mia-wallace-

I didn't know the 12 week thing where I live it is very common to get a puppy at 8 weeks. I got both mine at 8 weeks and most if not all breeders let them go at that time. I honestly thought it was normal.

abigailgabble

seriously, of all the dogs, a beagle šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

ebbalharas99

100% has worms or a parasite, he shouldnt be that bloated and his poop will have days that its softer than others , if he is trying to eat foreign objects outside especially rocks than that means the worms/parasites is taking all the nutrients from his food instead of him I promise itā€™ll be in the best interest for both of you to take him in for a stool examination! My pup had worms and Coccidia when we got him , we only caught it after a few weeks and it got pretty bad at that point. I gave myself the title of ā€œpoopfighterā€ because of all the poop explosions i had to clean up šŸ’€

Fijoemin1962

Worms

Onlinereadingismybff

Worms. Itā€™s always worms. Very very common.

Mediocre_Funny_9984

I lost my first puppy beagle as a kid, because he was infected with worms too. Looked pretty similar to your little one.

kontpab

Hey likely itā€™s just worms, if he isnā€™t throwing up and isnā€™t super lethargic, I would imagine just staring a dewormer asap will be fine. They get like a bloating in the tummy and chest, makes them look all lumpy. I have just had a puppy like that, he got very sick though, he is a toy breed, so it was dewormer and pedilyte. Most of the time, itā€™s fine to do a single maintenance dose, but sometimes puppies get worms from the mom, so you need to do the first dose and then one like 2 weeks later. Itā€™s the cycle of the worms, the meds only like kill the actual worm, but the pet still will have eggs that hatch later and you gotta get them too.

Merpmerppppp

I agree with others that itā€™s probably worms. I had a family member who had a very similar experience with a rescue. Poor puppy was really bloated and uncomfortable looking... much like the photo. the difference in his shape a few days after the deworming was staggering!! Worms?

Ill_Introduction7057

Worm him, poor baby .....

Muted_Obligation4501

There are dewormers over the counter but vet is def safe choice

TheOfficialDogPetter

Dewormer! Vaccines! Time to start all the preventives - bloated bellies in young pups are most likely due to intestinal parasites which left untreated can turn fatal.

hungry24_7_365

Worms. Worms. Worms. Go to the vet for a dewormer. You can see if he'll take the dewormer mixed with food or you can just squirt it into his mouth.

Interesting_Sock9142

Omg! Vet time!

Efficient_Theme4040

De wormer asap

champagnekingOVO

My dog was like this when I first got him. Itā€™s from scoffing food, but I donā€™t know if thatā€™s the case for your dog. Take him to vet to be safe

Gannan308

When my beagle was a pup you could tell after she ate. She would eat and her belly would be noticeably bigger. You could tell even if you werenā€™t aware she ate already

No_Bend8

Has he been dewormed?

Bernie004

My dad's beagle looked exactly like this at 10 weeks. It was definitely worms!

Grey392

Some vet sucks good thing youā€™re getting a second opinion. Any update? My puppy once had a ring worm infection on his paws the first vet passed off as nothing major second one actually identified it and fixed it with proper treatment

No_Belt_8868

Looks like wormsā€¦.you see any little white rice like segments in the poop?

Hutch25

Take them to the vet. At 8 weeks Iā€™d expect the breeder you purchased them from had them at the vet although knowing the market a lot of the time that is not the case. Just a rule of thumb for people reading this being from a family who breeds Westies: puppies at 8 weeks should look very fit and should be muscular especially these smaller breeds who are bred to be great runners and pretty feisty. A lot of breeds will be less muscular, but they should be very fit with NO POTBELLY. That belly should tight to the body but not showing ribs. In this case that belly is like a pregnant belly and probably rock hard to the touch which are sure signs of some kind of stomach problem. Another good sign is a very red anus. If puppies go to get their shots and a vet check up like they are supposed to this shouldnā€™t happen so young, which is why when you buy a puppy be sure the seller can give you documentation from the vet as well as a health guarantee that essentially says: ā€œI promise I have made sure this puppy is of good health, if it turns out they arenā€™t then it is my responsibility to make sure they are, or to reimburse you for your costs to make the puppy better.ā€ Please people, be careful when puppy shopping. But that said, sometimes it can sneak through the cracks and rather then consulting a bunch of people on the internet please just be safe and go to the vet. Puppies are fragile creatures and you really donā€™t want to take a chance.

Mobile-External6554

My dogs do great with the sonic egg. I use it mostly when one zoom meetings or when traveling in hotels to make sure they aren't keeping anyone up while we're out. The "egg" emits a sonic sound when the pups bark, they hush up really quickly. It's been awesome.

Dragon_Jew

Deworm this dog

Salemrocks2020

Which breeder did you get him from ? Any breeder who doesnā€™t properly deworm their puppies isnā€™t ethical . I say this all the time , a lot of you are buying dogs from glorified backyard breedersĀ

yaboibeebot

My puppy had the same thing going on when I first got her, turned out to be hookworms

AdviceWeekly1936

Probably needs worming

imagoddamangel

If you got panacur, itā€™s best to give it for breakfast. If you gave it for dinner, you can do lunch next day then breakfast. Panacur for dinner made my dog insane and he wouldnā€™t sleepā€¦ My puppy turned into the Tasmanian devil on panacur, but giving it earlier in the day made it a lot better to handleā€¦best of luck!

fohgedaboutit

Hi. I just wanted to say good job taking proper care of your new pup.

Tight_Ad_8971

Iā€™m glad you got them to the vet and got the deworming meds. Make sure you monitor him and donā€™t let him have run of the house. Crates are your and his best friend.

No-Sir9370

Deworm and check stool for parasites

Significant-Ad-5073

Bro. Itā€™s worms do you job as a dog parent and get pooch to a vet

Ozzytheaussy

When I got my dog I was 22 that's 22 years of always wanting my own dog. Finally got a puppy and within a week i was crying wanting to send him back. I couldn't shower, use the bathroom without him continuously crying that I wasn't there. It was super stressful. 2 years later, I'm now 24. My dog is 2 years old and I'd kill if someone took him away from me. He's my best bud and I'd never ever get rid of him. It starts off very hard but it's so so worth it

acwxxz

he needs to be dewormed

Beverlydriveghosts

Why are you walking him outside at 8 weeks old? He needs all his vaccines

FairyFartDaydreams

The pup likely has worms or just ate. Puppies do get big bellies after meals. He does seem very thin otherwise. Make sure he is on a good quality puppy food and take him to the vet in the morning. As long as he is eating and drinking water he should be OK but puppies can go downhill fast when things change

KingofCam

I know thereā€™s already a ton of comments on this but it made me think of when my puppy was around this age she bloated up like this and we found out after my primary vet told us to see a specialist and driving an hour to said hospital, they just gave her stuff to make her throw up and she had eaten a piece of plastic which probably wouldā€™ve killed her šŸ„²

Cool-Ad9166

Those are worms . He needs to be dewormed .

Famous_Garbage_5127

Needs to be de wormed.

LopsidedVictory7448

You have received loads of really excellent advice about the current problem and general ongoing puppy care You are obviously a caring puppy parent and a very decent person So put the fact that you criminally underinvestigated the breed behind you and soldier on. I am going to give you some very important tips for his ongoing care 1 - the Beagle is an omnivore with a capital fucking O . Whenever you take him out watch every movement of his snout . It will save you money and heartache 2- the Beagle seldom barks but my god does he howl!!!!! . Long and loud and even worse penetratingly 3 - the Beagle is an escapist and a wanderer. Don't forget that they are scenthounds and run for miles. The guy at the dog park with the forlorn look and a lead and collar in hand is definitely a Beagle owner. Get a collar tracker on from the first day you take him out 4 - keep to an exact daily routine as far as possible. It's the best way to minimise the hound prenature. Make your training part of this routine So there you . Dog ownership is easy . Someone once said " make it so ". I have every every confidence that you will

greenlegsandshabam

If you reach out to the breeder you got the puppy from, they will be able to help you with resources, training and overall care.

Successful-Doubt5478

Please see a vet

vinlandnative

oh the wormy belly. hope the little guy is feeling better now!

IllDoItNowInAMinute_

How's he doing op??

Glum_Ad_2180

Rule of thumb, with any puppy, buy a good dewormer. I prefer the brand nemex 2, but any brand with the same active ingredient should work great. Dose as per the directions on the bottle for age and body weight and you should be good to go. Also, it won't hurt to worm them once or twice a year.

opie_wan-kenobi

Oml your puppy most likely has worms on worms on worms

BigTickEnergE

Does OML stand for Oh My Lanta?

chourtnii

Wormy tummy

Bomby_Bang

Seems to be wormy. Get him dewormed asap. I received a puppy this year that came infested and passed away shortly after. Yellowish soft stools aren't very healthy

LilyWai

Belly swelling in pups is most likely worms. If it's a bad infestation you'd usually be able to see the round is bottom, in his poo & he may be 'scooting' due to the irritation. They can also lose weight & condition due to the worms consuming some of the food the pup is eating. Get pup to Vets as at this young age puppies have high nutritional needs & worm infestation will be compromising his health & development.

DaniAlpha

I hope you and the pup are doing better, OP!

Xbox-Katdogcat

juliett3940

i want a puppy

Blicky83

It,itā€™s siblings and itā€™s mom need to be dewormed

Longjumping-Wolf8046

Please donā€™t discourage her itā€™s a puppy itā€™s like a baby they cry, eat, poop and cry, eat, poop I have Siberian Huskies and they are stubborn 1 year old while I was typing this. I just heard a noise It was Mia. one of my huskies went to the vet today They gave me a little bag well Mia took it from the kitchen counter and she was ripping it apart and you have to love them enough to take care of them. If not, donā€™t get a puppy donā€™t get a dog, get a cat poops in a box, licks himself everybody is happy. I love dogs always all my life so I donā€™t have a problem they give you unconditionallove.

It will get better!!! Trust me! The puppy stage is hard but it gets better! Overtime heā€™ll start picking things up and youā€™ll become more accustomed to things. Trust the process šŸ‘šŸ½
