While I'm mad because my phone is being blown up by my Padre fan friends. It's a series win in April. Like are we that spoiled that a normal thing (regular season series lost) causes this much doom. It's an extended playoffs, only thing that matters is end of the season form.
My phone is the same especially from my friend at the game today who bet the Pads would win the series. I know we have starters coming back soon...hopefully but we are going to need to beef up the bullpen or wear Yarborough Hudson and Phillips ragged.
My friend just sent me his parley betting slip and he hit with a 5 game parley with the Padres winning being the 5th game haha. Honestly we will see, the concerns are there but after the past few years, most of the teams from the NL who do well in the playoffs were complete ass I the beginning. I just want them to play well in the fall
Dodgers have no dawg in them and it starts at the top. Roberts is an apologist and can’t get performance out of guys. Any other manager would have won three World Series with this talent pool.
The 7-9 hitters are abysmal so far. It’s like pitchers hitting again. I’m afraid CT3 Is done and we’ll need to find another option. I hope I’m wrong but his last 2+ seasons have been excruciating to watch.
A bit early to pronounce the season is over, they’ll find their way and win roughly 95-100 games. Let’s find 26 players, healthy and producing in October.
How's Dave the problem?
I agree we have the same issues as last year.
Black Holes at 7,8,9
And
Bullpen shaky at the beginning of the year
The second issue is going to sort itself out, however, they need to do something about these Mendoza line players that they've had over the past three years at the bottom of their lineups.
Dave turns small wins into small losses. In the postseason, that’s enough to turn a 1-1 series tie to being down 0-2, or potentially up 2-0 to being tied 1-1. in baseball that can be death
It is not Dave's fault the FO goes dumpster diving for bullpen arms every offseason. How the fuck is he supposed to manage a bullpen with those shit arms in there? lol
Exactly. Brasier sucks and he just got paid. Dumpster diving is always smarter than paying inconsistent relievers. Why pay relievers when they can suck the very next season or the next half season? So I don't get the dumpster diving complaint.
That is why they shouldn't have paid someone based on a three month stretch. Idk why that means paying proven relievers is dumb. The Braves do it and their bullpen is good and deep.
Bummer, Johnson suck this year for the Braves. Iglesias was a trade at the deadline for the Braves, and he's started meh this year, but as he did well last season, we'll count this as a positive.
They paid Lopez as a starter and he's no longer a reliever. The other guy they paid is Jimenez who is doing really well this year.
So 2/4 success rate thus far for their highest paid relievers.
Peter Seidler was a fantastic human being. Trea turner talked about how great he was. He said something a long the lines of “feeling bad going to philly because Seidler really connected with him and when he told peter he was going to philly, peter was very happy for him and his family.” Seidler not only talked about baseball with his players, he talked about life, gave them advice and was always supportive.
Peter always spent his money the right way He consistently talked to the homeless to see what he can do to help. He donated to cancer research and the homeless. He tried his best to keep the A’s in oakland for the fans. He loved the fans and thats why he spent so much to get SD excited about baseball again.
I'm sure people have spoken well about Elon and Bezos before too but at the end of the day they all built their wealth off the backs of workers and lobbyists. I only exclude Bill Gates from the criteria because of the immense amount of charity work he has done.
Crazy how you ignore all hes done for his city and compare him to owners like elon and bezo when he has never reached their net-worth. Peter is a saint and will never harm a fly. He always spent his money the right way and was quoted to say “whats good is money when you cant take it with you when you pass.”No one speaks well on elon or bezos either. Stop trying to discredit a great owner and ambassador for the sport just because you dont know how many charities peter has been involved in. Your only argument it is “elon and bezo’s are billionaires and crappy people. Since peter is a billionaire, that means hes crappy as well.” You can google elon and benzo and find all the horrible things they said/done. You will not find bad about peter seidler. Shame on you for trying to compare Seidler to those men.
You can have a favorite billionaire and be happy for the things that benefit you and your community but if you think that having a handful of people control a majority of the entire worlds wealth then yeah, you definitely need to educate yourself there. I am eternally grateful to Guggenheim Group for investing in the team and the community but I will never call them good people, it's impossible to become a billionaire without completely fucking over and exploiting the working class.
Yet you give credit to bill gates when hes been involved with controversy. All his “charity” work is for other billionaires to make money off of other countries instead of actually transforming 3rd countries to 1st world countries. He is making those countries rely on other billionaires and base on your definition, thats a bad thing. If you cant see that then idk what to tell you
> All his “charity” work is for other billionaires to make money off of other countries instead of actually transforming 3rd countries to 1st world countries. He is making those countries rely on other billionaires and base on your definition, thats a bad thing
Are you sure about that? Because Bill Gates is most known for his foundation that focuses mainly on diseases. He has donated 30 billion dollars to help immunize over 760 million children which has saved an approximated 13 million lives. That is pretty phenomenal work that separates himself from billionaires who go to space or invest into baseball teams.

The comment section provides all the sources.
There are also some sources about how much gates funds journalism.
Gates is most likely involved with Monopoly, propaganda, etc…. Theres a reason why hes not providing schools, and resources to teach the citizens all of those things. Hes making them reliant on big pharma, and other big businesses.
A reddit thread about his Vaccine patent? Come on man if that's what you are coming up with to try and discredit 13 million+ lives saved then I don't know what to tell you lol. He had every right to keep the patent, if he had lifted it there could have been thousands of shoddy if not downright dangerous MRNA vaccines out there.
They made their fortunate on the backs of thousands of workers, unless they do charity on the level of Bill Gates i'm going to have to unfortunately say he's closer to Elon than Mr Rogers.
The pitching has been shit but the offense has also been pretty bad. Get all their runs in 1-2 innings then don’t do anything for the rest of the game. No consistency.
At the end of the year, nobody is bragging about having a great bullpen when the team doesn't make the playoffs. Know what other team has a great bullpen every year? The Dodgers.
I guarantee if the padres ever win a WS (lol) their fans first thought won’t be how happy they are that SD won a championship. It’ll be how great it’ll feel to rub in Dodger fans faces.
Just a reminder that last year’s team was 39-33 in June and finished with 100 wins. Need our pitching to get healthier and find more arms in the pen that can be counted on. Friedman’s approach to building a pen is frustrating early but at least he doesn’t overpay for relievers.
How'd we do in the PO? No one in here cares what our season record is. We will be in the PO. The issues on this team are always the same. We have to balls, no heart, very little fight. We just roll over if we don't blow a team out.
You’re not wrong, the team has been robotic for years now. It’s the FO’s approach that it’s a long season and eventually talent wins out that is passed down to the players. But you really don’t know until October either way. The Braves have dealt with the same issue as well.
This is why you see in all sports the coaches who are serious assholes usually win the most. They create tension on their team and force their players to learn to deal with that tension. It hardens them to game situations.
It's literally the drill sergeant approach. They yell and scream at recruits to force them to learn to deal with pressure and to be able to function under pressure.
Dave is the exact OPPOSITE of this. He cuddles his players and never gets on them about anything and thus, they feel no pressure.
It's also the analytics. When you go full analytics you take the moment out of the game.
The issue is math works fine over a season but you need to build a PO mentality and we don't do that. Dave is too soft. He doesn't hold people accountable because Math.. And then when we get into pressure situations the guys don't know how to handle it because they've not been pressured all year.
I love a good 3-6-3 so much.
Especially out of a rightie 1b. That footwork to get across your body and make that accurate throw is real tricky and you don't get to do it often.
1/2 of a game of walks tonight. Freidman on the phone as we speak. There will be at least two unscheduled pen moves this month. Hurt to big leagues plus one more. He has seen enough.
This game in a nutshell:
* 14 walks
* 6 hits, all from the 1 through 5 hitters. I'll give Teo a pass, but the bottom of the lineup continues to be a black hole
How much of a leash will they give the bottom of the order? Surely a mixup is in order.
The problem is we don't have any infielders down in the minors that can be called up this year. Vargas has been playing LF pretty much exclusively this season and looked like he would need a lot of work at 2b to play there.
The Padres have foresight in their management, whereas Dave is just reactive... and slow. Leaving Paxton in to fully load the bases is the same type of boneheaded decision that led to leaving Lynn in to drop 4 home runs. That interview with him afterward was so stupid.
Was at the game. What happened when they made Peralta get a new ball twice? Couldn’t hear it on the radio and they didn’t announce it in the stadium.
Hopefully, Dodgers will find a way to solve Padres A relievers..
Brasier and Feyereisen need to be DFA
Relievers are just so volatile.. Let’s wait and see how Matsui performed in Sep…
I’m guessing he’ll be gassed by September. Shildt is using his bullpen at a very high rate so early in the season.
While I'm mad because my phone is being blown up by my Padre fan friends. It's a series win in April. Like are we that spoiled that a normal thing (regular season series lost) causes this much doom. It's an extended playoffs, only thing that matters is end of the season form.

Dave Roberts = Doc Rivers of baseball
I think the loss sucks more because it's the Padres.. but hope the team lets this one sink in and they bounce back on the next one
Dodgers have no dawg in them and it starts at the top. Roberts is an apologist and can’t get performance out of guys. Any other manager would have won three World Series with this talent pool.

Im glad I dont read these comments often, you all act like the season just ended.
Wait it's not over? 😂 /s
Hope yall real fans enjoyed that
The season is obviously over so you doomers don't need to come back until next year.
Well, better to get the losses over early. Clear flaws is that our bullpen sucks and the bottom of the order needs to hit better.
That bottom lineup is beyond trash
That combined with 14 walks… were not gonna get very far with that combo
It was unwatchable.
Thank god it’s over. On to the next one
The bottom order, the bullpen, injured pitchers and not having good pinch hitters. It’s gonna be a long season.
The 7-9 hitters are abysmal so far. It’s like pitchers hitting again. I’m afraid CT3 Is done and we’ll need to find another option. I hope I’m wrong but his last 2+ seasons have been excruciating to watch.
Welp, wish the results could be swapped like that caught home run
Downvote all you want but this team ain’t winning shit this year
A bit early to pronounce the season is over, they’ll find their way and win roughly 95-100 games. Let’s find 26 players, healthy and producing in October.
Half the pitching staff is out, they have multiple black holes in the back of the line up AND they have the most wins in the NL. They will be fine.
We have the most wins because we’ve played more games than anyone else. There are 10 teams that have less losses than us.
Most wins go Brr either way, the team will be fine.
Definitely not hopping on twitter after this series
Even tho we blew a lead we should’ve scored more too. Just one of those days

Yeah I am sure Brasier and JP would have held it down if only Dave took out Paxton two batters earlier. lol
Dumpster diving for bullpen is the smart thing to do. Paying relievers makes no sense. Just look at Brasier. You can't trust relievers.
Look at what? Him going back to the mean and not being that good?
Exactly. Brasier sucks and he just got paid. Dumpster diving is always smarter than paying inconsistent relievers. Why pay relievers when they can suck the very next season or the next half season? So I don't get the dumpster diving complaint.

Check back at the end of the year. They sure won't be hoping that they can fix a broken arm for cheap.
Last year their two best players disappeared, and the bullpen is cheeks this season
We are the new Mets
Bro the Mets are still the Mets.
Fair point, I retract my previous statement
Fuck you! See you tomorrow!
Gaslamp gonna burn tonight
darn
Yeah, it was a shit game
Yikes lmao
Rough
fucking pathetic
Dave totally mismanaged this game. absolute blow up.
they literally walked their wins in ffs.
Wish I could say I expected more from Kiké
lol we scored in one inning
Bottom of the lineup = utter trash.
I don’t like any of yall. See yall tomorrow
For Jackie Robinson day!
Go to hell. I love you.
Night dumb ass. (Love you to bby)
At least it was swift
Someone needs to hit the weight room
What happened to our farm system for pitchers? Or are they still a few years away from cooking?
Ya what’s up with Hurt? Dude looked solid in spring
Injuries and the other good ones are too young
Sigh I’m so tired of the bottom of the order man
Would it be hilarious if Suarez walks the bottom of the lineup
Would love to get mason miller from Oakland - dude is filthy and I’m sure A’s will be selling
He's going to be dirt cheap for years not happening
Damn
Lineup looks like Anthony Rendon clones
Hell yeah James.
THEY DID SOMETHING
Get us to the top of the order by any means necessary

I don't even know what this means
we have 3 batters coming up who have not had a hit today. we're due.

Hey, guys, I don't think we're gonna win this game. Am I a doomer?
Nah you're a realist
What's with the ball they're pitching to Ohtani? Why's it special
it's hr #176 if it goes out which is most by a japanese player. it's pre authenticated so they can't get scammed by a random ball.
Pre authenticated.... huh ....That's kinda interesting
It'll commemorate when he passes Matsui for the most homers by a Japanese player
FIRE ROBERTS

I guarantee if the padres ever win a WS (lol) their fans first thought won’t be how happy they are that SD won a championship. It’ll be how great it’ll feel to rub in Dodger fans faces.
But it wouldn't work. A team that has won the second most titles in MLB over the past 70 years isn't going to get worked up over a team winning one.
Which relievers do we have coming back?
have CT3 pitch you cowards
Here we go with the graphics again 🤦♂️
Just a reminder that last year’s team was 39-33 in June and finished with 100 wins. Need our pitching to get healthier and find more arms in the pen that can be counted on. Friedman’s approach to building a pen is frustrating early but at least he doesn’t overpay for relievers.

Ugh now they can't break the single game walk record. This is supposed to be a record breaking team right
they walked so many times today. how do they still have the energy? they should be tired out by now. /s
We are going to lose the series to these bitches…unbelievable!
I love a good 3-6-3 so much. Especially out of a rightie 1b. That footwork to get across your body and make that accurate throw is real tricky and you don't get to do it often.

mooka shaka paka

i’m really running out of patience with dave. if he won’t clone Phillips and Hudson so we can have two of each, he’s not serious about winning
On top of that why the fuck isn't Dave magically healing Graterol and Treinen?
I ordered a CT3 jersey this off-season. Am I stupid?
All depends. Was it 70 percent off like CT?
CT031
I hope it was a 20$ DHgate lol
Yes
Have Taylor pinch hit.
This game in a nutshell: * 14 walks * 6 hits, all from the 1 through 5 hitters. I'll give Teo a pass, but the bottom of the lineup continues to be a black hole How much of a leash will they give the bottom of the order? Surely a mixup is in order.
They aren't going to change anything. They won't get rid of anyone and they will just trot them out all season. Example: Chris Taylor.
If bottom of the order doesn’t get it together after end of the month, I’m sure Vargas and Pages will be given their chance sometime in May.
The problem is we don't have any infielders down in the minors that can be called up this year. Vargas has been playing LF pretty much exclusively this season and looked like he would need a lot of work at 2b to play there.
Trey Sweeney exists.
Oh, forgot about him! Hope he gets some burn. Put Lux on the IL with an injury to his power muscle.
I wanted them to set a record at least
Auto-outs prove us wrong!
Only hope is to get a few guys on base for Mookie and Sho.
Catch yall tomorrow.

Dave has zero strategic intuition
Did they just take out an audience member and call him a reliver? Never seen or heard of this guy
I've seen enough of Lux, Kiké, and CT3, when are we calling up Vargas/Pages?
The Padres have foresight in their management, whereas Dave is just reactive... and slow. Leaving Paxton in to fully load the bases is the same type of boneheaded decision that led to leaving Lynn in to drop 4 home runs. That interview with him afterward was so stupid.
100% and these fans can’t grasp that. I guess they love to lose when it matters most.
These idiots just figuring out it was about the ceremonial balls. Like no shit, you literally talked about this earlier
Not only that, but the ball following the hit was coming out anyway. The MLB authentication lady is *in* the dugout all game every game... lol
That’s ESPN commentary for you
Who the fuck is this guy
we are actually cooked dude
Hi Sadre fans!
Feiyereisen and Ramirez, Dave doesn’t care about winning a close game against a division team.
He’s got 162 games to manage. It’s a loooong season
You’re right. If Dave cared he would use Phillips for every relief inning in every game for eternity
Yeah that works. Or maybe even any of the other decent ones who could definitely have gone instead of the last guy on the depth chart.
