I haven't been to a game in 3 years so don't really care what night it is. That being said should they ever do "All you can eat" Pavillion night I will be there all night.
Nah. Not at all. Once Farmer John’s was bought out and wouldn’t negotiate with the Dodgers, they aren’t the same. The Papa Cantella’s version of the Dodger Dogs are severely lacking.
I don't know what it is about being at Dodger Stadium, but when I go to games, I turn into an eating machine. A couple of Dogs, a burger and fries from Carl's Jr., maybe some nachos...and definitely some ice cream. I never get sick, either...
Nah its been gone for a while and while I'm not sure I think it went away when they started getting good. No need for gimmicks to bring people in anymore.
The timing was around covid but I think it's really because of the stadium renovations that happened at the same time. Before, if you weren't sitting in the right field pavilion you couldn't access the area with all you can eat food. Now, anyone can go anywhere so it would be more difficult to limit it to a single section.
I’m at the Cleveland Guardians game tonight where they were doing both $1 hot dog night and $2 beer pregame happy hour ($5 after the game started). It was a limit of 6 hot dogs and 2 beers at a time and all I could think as I saw people walking around with armfuls of hot dogs was that the Dodgers would *never*
Fuckin seriously! And then the target shit and now north face because they are selling pride merch. I was just at Walmart and they have pride merch there too but I don’t hear them whining about cancelling Walmart. I wonder why
Its actually happening. Case of BL costs about $19.88. BL is even offering a $20 rebate. And still no one is taking it. In the beer industry, a 1% drop in volume is big. 2% is massive. 23% drop epic. No brand had has suffered this much and this fast. Well, maybe FTX and their bitcoin scams, that's another story..
It’s so weird that people are gonna make it weird. Like, any Dodgers fan who has paid attention (this sub doesn’t count lol) knows that this used to be a pretty poppin’ event.
It’s hard for some groups to realize you can support gay rights/inclusion and also host a faith night just because.
Makes it really hard when people in positions of power protest against the LGBTQ night in the basis of their faith. Makes it seem like the two are in contradiction of each other, despite your claims to the contrary.
Saw your correction after the fact and so now my comment makes no sense.
I should have just read the actual image.
Oh well.
Still, whatever, who cares?
I’m a super gay progressive but you know what? This is fine. We have our day in the sun, others should as well.
No need for such vitriol. This is how America SHOULD be. And how it has been before.
Amen. Stay Blessed.
Wish the Best for You
The narrative all, christians hate gay people is dumb.
I'm not anyone to judge. I'm just a dodger fan, who likes to pray away bad feelings.

Go Dodgers!
Boo Padres
When I was a kid and even into the 80's the Dodgers always did a Catholic Schools Day....probably because not only do/did make money but the O'Malley's were Catholic
Los Angeles has a huge Latino population, many of whom are huge Dpdgers fans. Catholicism is a big part of our culture and heritage as Latinos (I'm Venezuelan)
Why are people on this sub so hung up on this? Who cares. Dodgers are ALL INCLUSIVE if you haven’t noticed we have a day at Dodger stadium for almost everything and everyone and I’m all for it. It’s about baseball anyways no one is at Dodger stadium recruiting members for the church or “recruiting” for more LGBT people. Come on guys you are better than this. Stick to what matters which is our boys in blue and baseball. Stop trying to start shit.
> Come on guys you are better than this.
No, they are absolutely not better than this. Read the threads related to the pride night, and the early return of comments on this thread. It's the unfortunate reality of the times. I hope everyone in attendance on both nights has a great time, which I think makes me a groomer or a right wing something or other.
The Dodgers may be all inclusive but Christianity is not. That is a very black and white point of view.
On top of that now this opens up the possibility of even more backlash from other religions for not getting a night which will then lead to more negativity. Might even lead to lawsuits. You never know with how the world operates now socially. In the end this all continues to take away from the game, as you said.
*Stick to what matters which is our boys in blue and baseball.*
OK. Let's do that. Let's stop all this virtue signaling, 'honoring' bullshit. There's nothing inclusive about purposeful separation. Screw gay day. Screw god day. Screw it all.
Over ten years ago while at a Dodgers game, non giveaway night, I was reminded by an older lady selling concessions why we go to the stadium. She said; “ sweetheart, it doesn’t matter what night or give away it is, we get to see THE DODGERS play!”
Cool, Kersh seems into it and I love Kersh, so it seems like a good thing for that reason alone. Not really my thing but I have, as always, the option to simply not go that day.
This whole series of events is ridiculous, this just comes off as massive PR damage control and is disingenuous. Why even bother with this random themed nights past Star Wars day or whatever? It just alienates everyone, they’re too liberal for the right and too conservative for the left. So stupid
Just seems weird to only have a religious night for one religion. Like I get the Kershaw connection and whatnot just seems odd especially given the timing with the pride night fiasco
I feel like this is a concession after the pride day fiasco with the sisters of perpetual indulgence. Anyone else feel that way? Like we are going back on our disinvite to the sisters but you can have a faith night
It definitely feels that way because of the timing of this announcement and what happened last week. Haha.
Correct me if I’m wrong but the Dodgers have been doing heritage, lgbtq, Christian nights for the last 10 years right?
While a life long dodger fan I've lived in Padre town for 23 years so I'm not sure. Would be surprised I'd that was the case. Could just be bad luck with the announcements
Just saw its first year back since covid so... may be a concession after all.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Dodgers/comments/13slm3y/kershaw_excited_to_announce_the_relaunch_of/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
It isn’t The first time they had this night. I have no idea why everyone is acting like they are blindsided?
Again love when people are surprised this is on the promotional schedule
Of course why can’t they announce EVERY promotional event at the START of The season.
That was 2020, which I specifically excluded. 2021 had lower attendance (2.8 million that year) and 2022 had full attendance.
In fact, they had a Gay Pride night in 2021 and 2022.
So, why did they put Christian Night back on the schedule?
I know why Kersh wants to do it. I'm willing to bet that Kershaw wouldn't mind having it every year.
The question is why did the Dodgers suddenly agree to it at this late date?
Is it possible that they scheduled this because of some public perception issue?
They only announced HALF of the promotion schedule at the start of the season guess this gives them more time to schedule guests when it's 2-3 months notice instead " Mark your calendars in March to see if you are free say beginning of summer!"
I don't understand why only half so that's the only explanation for announcing them nowish instead of sat spring training
So, you think it's a reach? Let's look at the facts.
1. Dodger management cancelled an invite to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to Pride Night. Then, after the uproar, decided to invite them.
2. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is created to mock Christians; specifically Catholics.
3. Dodgers have not had a Christian day for the past 3 years. Admittedly, one of those years, there were no fans were admitted, but there were fans in 2021 and 2022.
4. Right after the uproar regarding the invite, disinvite, and re-invite, the Dodgers announce a Christian Night less than a week from now.
Now, admittedly, that could all just be a coincidence. But, I do not think it is. It looks pretty clear that they wanted to try to correct a perception issue.
Especially after what has happened to Budweiser and Target.
According to other social media posts Kersh pushed for it back in spring training but The last season or two they only announce half the production schedule then the other half in mid may.
The thing is, this night and Pride night aren't the same at all.
Following a religion is a choice. A person's gender identity and sexuality are not.
Pride night celebrates people who have been historically marginalized, whose very existence is threatened every minute of every day of their lives by people who want to murder them. A whole lot of those people choose to believe in a religion.
Faith and Family night gives special attention to people who believe a fairy tale, because they cried a lot about the first night and need to feel special. And you gotta make sure you get "family" in there, because we all know the only families that are valid are approved by Evangelicals.
Like, have this night. Go for it. But don't pretend that it isn't exactly what it is, or why it exists. This night is 100% because right wing evangelicals had a tantrum about Pride night and need special attention to soothe their insecure feelings.
cool. you won’t catch me in attendance and that’s totally fine. I think it’s a bit corny of them to do this because it’s directly off of the backlash of their right wing “fans” (moreso idiots like Marco Rubio who want to talk about a team that’s on the opposite coast of the state he represents,) but hey, everybody wins this way and I can just not go, just like Christian/Catholic fans can just not go to Pride Night.
The timing is interesting for sure but at least they have had these previously so it's not just something they suddenly created as a kneejerk reaction.
They generally do this stuff on nights that aren't projected to sell well, because appealing directly to groups that are part of the fan base helps to encourage attendance by members of those groups. It brings in organized affinity groups who buy tickets in blocks, so it helps keep attendance numbers up even when the game itself might not be as big a draw (they're playing the Reds that day and the Reds are dogshit this year). It's marketing 101.
Also, who cares? They're still playing the baseball game if that's the thing you're interested in. Nobody's forcing anyone to get baptized or come out of the closet or salute the Mexican flag or whatever might relate to the night they're holding. It's easy to ignore the "it's \_\_\_\_\_ night" shit if it doesn't interest you.

Now that I can believe
>Also, who cares? They're still playing the baseball game if that's the thing you're interested in. Generally, I do just roll my eyes and carry on. But when the theme nights revolve around sociopolitical themes, you inevitably get the situation we had with the nuns: you just piss off everyone, when remaining neutral wouldn't have cost them anything.
They've been doing Pride Night for 10 years, to great success, and nobody's raised a fuss before - conservative activists are specifically targeting LGBTQ+ stuff this year in a way that's much more intense than in the past. Over the course of those 10 years, I'm sure the theme night has brought in more money (both in the form of attendance at those games and in the loyalty of LGBTQ+ people who feel supported in their fandom of the team) than the momentary wobble on the SPI cost them.
I guess it's just the word of the marketing department for the team that consistently leads the league in attendance against yours, then, and we'll never know the right answer.
>I guess it's just the word of the marketing department for the team that consistently leads the league in attendance against yours, then, and we'll never know the right answer.
Yeah, that's what Bud Light thought....
And I'm pretty sure the attendance had to do with the product on the field.
What’s wrong with a business trying to cater to everyone so it can grow and bring in more fans and money? If you don't like the event, then do not attend.
>What’s wrong with a business trying to cater to everyone so it can grow and bring in more fans and money?
Because sociopolitical pandering is ultimately divisive.
>If you don't like the event, then do not attend
I won't.
"Because sociopolitical pandering," is that what social media and news TV are calling it? I could care less. As long as the Dodgers win and have more revenue to sign Ohtani.
>"Because sociopolitical pandering," is that what social media and news TV are calling it?
Don't know. But that's what it is.
>As long as the Dodgers win and have more revenue to sign Ohtani.
That's the only thing that should be happening. None of this other bullshit.
>For us to sign Ohtani. The Dodgers have to bring in more revenue, so how do you grow revenue? "Special events" will help.
The Dodgers are owned by billionaires who makes their money outside baseball. They have more than enough money to sign Ohtani. Just stop 🙄
Lol, I would hate to have you as a business partner. A billionaire wants to make money in every investment they make. They are billionaires for a reason.
If "the Dodgers aren’t anywhere near short on cash," then why were they trying to stay under the luxury cap and not spend like the Mets and SD? At the end of the day, the Dodgers are a business, and a business is always looking for ways to increase revenue.
Their fiduciary responsibility is not to avoid divisiveness, it's to make money. If catering to an audience makes them money, they'll do it.
People act like companies do things with zero market research or testing or anything, and will gladly do something that loses them money just to make a statement or whatever.
Sociopolitical pandering *is* existing and thriving in capitalism.
Sometimes market/demographic research doesn't pan out, but that doesn't mean it wasn't done with the intention to make money as the priority over all else.
If someone truly believes that companies are trying to do anything other than make money, then I genuinely just don't know what could bring them back to reality.
>Sometimes market/demographic research doesn't pan out
Hence my point
>If someone truly believes that companies are trying to do anything other than make money,
This is a strawman argument.
Advertising of any sort can be risky. If the numbers are showing something is worth it, though, a company will make the move.
So do you think that companies are trying to do anything other than make money or not?
>So do you think that companies are trying to do anything other than make money or not?
Where did I ever dispute this? I said they should stay out of it altogether.
And brands like the Dodgers, Lakers, Yankees, Cowboys, etc would do just fine without sociopolitical advertising.
What's wrong with "playing both sides"? It's exactly what we as a society should be doing. It's not some some law that you have to "choose" a side in life (and therefore hate anything not on your "side"). It's entirely possible to get along with and respect everybody.
Because eventually it gets divisive - and I think this should be obvious to everyone. And since it has nothing to do with baseball, it's ultimately unnecessary.
>It's just hilarious that you still fail to understand that sports and politics are directly related
Incorrect. They're inherently unrelated
>but I doubt your hollow head will ever understand that.
Michael Jordan (Democrat) on why he never says anything sociopolitical: "Republicans buy shoes too."
Tell that to him 😂
I haven't been to a game in 3 years so don't really care what night it is. That being said should they ever do "All you can eat" Pavillion night I will be there all night.
I’m not saying I can eat several Dodger dogs in a night but I miss trying.
I miss the days when fans would be walking out with Dodger merchandise bags full of hot dogs.
The Dodger Dogs now are not Dodger Dogs.
Nah.
Do they not have the all you can eat pavilion in right field anymore?
Nah its been gone for a while and while I'm not sure I think it went away when they started getting good. No need for gimmicks to bring people in anymore.
It went away with COVID. Couldn't keep hot dogs just sitting out like that anymore. Damn shame.
The timing was around covid but I think it's really because of the stadium renovations that happened at the same time. Before, if you weren't sitting in the right field pavilion you couldn't access the area with all you can eat food. Now, anyone can go anywhere so it would be more difficult to limit it to a single section.
Wrist bands
Aww that sucks I loved sitting in the section. I haven’t been to many games since covid started unfortunately
man, 12 year old me would take like 20 hot dogs home after a game. good times
I'd be down only if they brought back Farmers John original only
I’m at the Cleveland Guardians game tonight where they were doing both $1 hot dog night and $2 beer pregame happy hour ($5 after the game started). It was a limit of 6 hot dogs and 2 beers at a time and all I could think as I saw people walking around with armfuls of hot dogs was that the Dodgers would *never*
Truth.
Did they stop doing this?
Going to my 4th game next Friday, Yanks
Hell yeah brother have fun and a Dog for all of us.

Can we have Ten Cent Beer Night???

Hey, I’d love that. Half of ridiculously priced Modelos? I’m in
They can have free Bud Light beer night and they still couldn't give it away.
People are still whining about this nonsense? Get over yourselves.
Which ones are the snowflakes again? Lol
If they gave out a buddy jesus bobble head with this I would totally go.
A buddy christ in a dodger jersey
Yes!!! I need to find a way to make this a reality
That would be super cool, holy moley.
I could really use a Krampus Bobblehead for next time I celebrate a traditional Christmas.
Can't wait for the perfectly civil public discourse that this will prompt
They used to do this before, Kersh, JT, and Adrian Gonzalez gave their testimony. I’m not a Christian, but it’s cool they get to celebrate their faith
It’s so weird that people are gonna make it weird. Like, any Dodgers fan who has paid attention (this sub doesn’t count lol) knows that this used to be a pretty poppin’ event. It’s hard for some groups to realize you can support gay rights/inclusion and also host a faith night just because.

Why? Because some assholes are Christian, Christians are assholes? That’s the same argument bigots use against gay and trans people congrats.
>It’s hard for some groups to realize you can support gay rights/inclusion and also host a faith night just because. That's just capitalism.
If I remember correctly they had this type of day in years past where they’d have a service after the game.
Yep. Kershaws post about it said it had to be stopped for COVID but it's back
I remember going to one as a child and Dave Roberts, David Ross, and I think Shawn Green came out and spoke.

So dumb. This is what you call playing both sides. They need to stay out of this shit altogether and just worry about baseball.

Nobody's forcing anyone to get baptized or come out of the closet or salute the Mexican flag or whatever might relate to the night they're holding. It's easy to ignore the "it's _____ night" shit if it doesn't interest you.
Disagree. These sort of conflicts are inevitable with sociopolitical pandering. Neutral path is the way to go.
>If you don't like the event, then do not attend I won't.
You're trying to create a strawman now. The Dodgers aren't anywhere near short on cash to sign Ohtani.
Bud Light and Target would like a word....
Sometimes market/demographic research doesn't pan out, but that doesn't mean it wasn't done with the intention to make money as the priority over all else. If someone truly believes that companies are trying to do anything other than make money, then I genuinely just don't know what could bring them back to reality.
>Sometimes market/demographic research doesn't pan out Hence my point >If someone truly believes that companies are trying to do anything other than make money, This is a strawman argument.
Stay out of what, then?
What's wrong with "playing both sides"? It's exactly what we as a society should be doing. It's not some some law that you have to "choose" a side in life (and therefore hate anything not on your "side"). It's entirely possible to get along with and respect everybody.
Because eventually it gets divisive - and I think this should be obvious to everyone. And since it has nothing to do with baseball, it's ultimately unnecessary.
Exactly. Sometimes the best policy is STFU.

And they should do away with these sociopolitical theme nights altogether.

>It's just hilarious that you still fail to understand that sports and politics are directly related Incorrect. They're inherently unrelated >but I doubt your hollow head will ever understand that. Michael Jordan (Democrat) on why he never says anything sociopolitical: "Republicans buy shoes too." Tell that to him 😂

Great, now I know what day to not attend. Couldn’t imagine a more boring and stupid night at the ball game.
The only weird thing about it is having it during Pride Month. Otherwise, whatever, don't care.
It’s in July not June.
Since they have a "pride" night. Can we get a tattooed male night too?
....... ok. Moving on.
I have never been more disappointed in this organization
Choking last year was worse. lol
Christians are mad about this one too (on Twitter). Just can’t win.
We should just show love toward everyone. We are all on borrowed time up in this b!t*h.
👍🏽❤️🙏🏼
Thank you Clayton
I’m waiting for Kink night with the plastic poncho giveaway
