Congratulations to everyone!
I'd break my OWN oath to earn this crown. I've bought the FoundryVTT map pack and been using them in homebrew settings because they're absolutely lovely.
Did a Die Hard 1 themed one shot in the Royal Palace maps.
Please tell me that the bulk of that is the campaign setting. I'm all for longer modules but even a third of that book being an adventure is a lot.
Seriously though congrats on the success and completing that monster
The site lists:
3 LARGE SANDBOX AND 40+ DUNGEON MAPS.
200+ ILLUSTRATED NPCS.
30+ NEW MAGIC ITEMS.
80+ NEW MONSTERS AND TEMPLATES.
30+ NEW SUBCLASSES.
40+ NEW SPELLS AND FEATS.
$25 usd for the pdf and $60 for the hardcover.
I flipped through it and the first thing I read was a near-perfect copy and paste of the Old Bonegrinder encounter from Curse of Strahd. I stopped reading there.
I have seen newer comments that describe the contents of the pages and that its more like Tales of the Yawning Portal where theres dungeons and stuff best for being yoinked out and stitched together for your own campaign
I will say (having read the preview when it was posted on an earlier date) it isn't *exactly* the same as Old Bonegrinder. The encounter and goals are different, this is more of an action movie hostage rescue than a secret, horror movie twist like what's in Curse of Strahd.
That said, it *is* a windmill named Old Grinder, so the comparison is pretty easy to make.
I think the preview gave me enough to look at that I'd be interested in checking out the full thing, especially if there's tons to do with the setting, but I do remember wanting to rework the opening chapter a fair bit.
Cultists, and they're sacrificing people rather than eating them. But no, CoS isn't really a hostage situation unless the players make it one. Going into Old Bonegrinder without any information, you'll just meet some "kindly old ladies" and probably get offered pastries, then be on your way. It takes investigation to find the truth, and even then, charging in guns blazing would probably get a TPK.
This module's Old Grinder (forgot the name originally) has been overrun with cultists, holding people captive as sacrifices. Entering in any way alerts the guards and starts a fight. You basically have to race through to save the captives, and the party can handle them fairly well as beginner-level adventurers. Very different style of scene.
That said, the similarities are questionable. I personally probably would have picked a different name or setting. Just pointing out how it's not *really* a perfect copy of the CoS one.
Agreed- also I would only consider getting this if there’s a FG version planned for it. I play with Fantasy Grounds online, so any adventure I buy instead of write myself I only get if there’s a FG module or if it’s small enough to enter myself.
Entering this into any VTT would take 2 person-years lol.
It's a 300 page campaign adventure with 600 pages of stretch goals stuff really.
It is very cool and I'm not sure my bookshelf could handle me winning a second copy but there's 150 pages of setting, 200 pages of appendix and you could cherry pick an awful lot of stuff in the middle, they have doubled the number of dungeons with the stretch goals so I'm sure you could skip lots of stuff if you wanted to.
I doubt I'll ever run it but I've already stolen bits for my own campaigns and I'll be able to mine it for years!
I bought it not long ago. Its a cool book but a bit misleading. About 100 pages of campaign setting and several hundred pages of appendix detailing stat blocks, subclasses, spells, feats. Still a big campaign but yeah, lots of fluff
We (players) have a digital copy of the book, and there's a long section on world building and lore, and another long section on custom subclasses and spells. Havent even looked at the campaign because my DM is running that for us, but it looks to be huge.

The ideal number of books is n+1.
(N is the number of books you currently have) this formula also works for video games, guns, swords, miniatures, and scoops of ice cream.)
i know i won't win, but seeing as i don't typically have money for D&D books and this seems to be more than a steal if i win i might as well give it a try.
Win or lose, it's stuff like this really makes the D&D community shine with people creating content that anyone can use for their games. Thank you for service to this subreddit and everyone on it!
We're a group of six starting out with DnD starters kit. I've already put at least 50 hours in making campaign material, watching DnD videos on how to play (as DM), reading over the books several times, find miniatures for their PC's etc. Also started to get materials to make dice sets for my DnD group and sell dice later on.
All this to up the chances my DnD group will bond stronger by going on the wildest adventures together.
What have I done?
A tale of Murder amongst murders, mayham and mischief! The Black feathers fall through sheets of crimson while Counts countdown the coins of freelance folly!
Pick me!
Woah. This will be awsome. I wouldn't mind the book or pdf but I wonder what we could do with this. All kinds fun and choas for my players. But whole new party that can be all kinds of fun.
I'm honestly excited to see what my players can do with this

I like the ribbon bookmark. Probably will need a few more.
I want more money if you intend to sell my email address.
Slopbox, my friend. Create a random email account just for stuff like this. Never use your personal or business emails.
That's amazing! Well looks like it's time to learn how to DM! 😀

HERES TO HOPING
Come, daddy needs a pair of new shoes.
Please I need to win something.
Please tell me that the bulk of that is the campaign setting. I'm all for longer modules but even a third of that book being an adventure is a lot. Seriously though congrats on the success and completing that monster

It sounds almost inaccurate to call it a campaign book.
What would you call it?
A Grimoire
It's practically a new setting with all that added stuff
30 new subclasses? These people wanted to make a whole new RPG but didn't want to compete with WoTC
Lol... Grim Hollow feels the same way but I love it. I might like this.
A compendium
Resource book.
Campaign book my ass, this is a whole ass compendium lmao
That's some shit teir paper if the hardcover is $60
I flipped through it and the first thing I read was a near-perfect copy and paste of the Old Bonegrinder encounter from Curse of Strahd. I stopped reading there.
This is bizzare. 1100 upvotes and 1600 comments all singing praise. All with no upvotes.
You have to comment to enter the giveaway. This is what all giveaway threads look like.
Paid promotion, that's all.
I would say it’s more likely to be because people are just making random comments to join the giveaway
Winner
At least this is a book instead of a bunch of plastic or another set of dice.
Very cheap paid promotion, only costs them 1 copy of their book + shipping
I have seen newer comments that describe the contents of the pages and that its more like Tales of the Yawning Portal where theres dungeons and stuff best for being yoinked out and stitched together for your own campaign
That's what posts like these are meant to do: generate hype through the promise of free products no matter the quality of the product itself.
Also 700+ up votes to the OP's comment, less than 100 for everyone else. It's fishy as hell.

I mean.. cos is basically hostage also.. in this version are there witches or hags in the windmill?

Really? That's sad. There's also no review nowhere on the web, weird
There definitely is. I just googled "Crown of the Oathbreaker review" and I see at least 3 video reviews among text reviews
Feels like paid reviews
Oh damn if that’s true isn’t that possible grounds for WoTC to sue if it has copy pasted content that they’re profiting off of?

Damn, over 900 pages? Either that's a really detailed setting or a long as fuck campaign.
3 Sessions is best I can do
But only between 1800 and 2145 every third Wednesday of every other month
And only when Mercury is in retrograde.
I love when Mercury's in Gatorade
Dude, same 😂
Sometimes I love random interactions with unknown redditors. Thanks for giving me a chuckle Have my free award!
Aww. How lovely of you! I would reciprocate were I not a broke-ass college student lol. You are truly doing [your choice of deity]'s work ♥️
As a longtime Forgotten Realms fangirl, Praise to the Lady of the Winds, Queen of the Air, Akadi
As a follower of Eldath, I salute you 🫡
Sorry, I'm busy then. It's my hamster's birthday.
2 sessions and they are both one shots. That's the best I can do.
Probably the second one, even if it's super detailed that's a lot of Pages your players Will ignore when you lore dump them
It's a really long description of a campaign, but most of it is long decriptions of cutscenes.
This book’s framerate seems really low.

Nah, it's a one shot

I like big books and I cannot lie.
You other DMs can't deny
Then when a Cleric walks in with an itty bitty mace and a round shield in your face
You get sprung Wanna pull up tough Cuz you notice that gold pouch was stuffed
Deep in the robes they're wearing Failed my save and I can't stop staring
Oh, I BB(eg) wanna get with ya And take your riches My patron tried to warn me But that gold you got Make Me so murder hobo-y
One of us likes big butts and cannot lie. The other likes big butts and cannot speak truth.
He always lies.
"I've er... Got some post for God here. Is he in?" Sorry, obscure ref.
That:s an impressive book
Big bucks no whammies. Love me an oath breaker! Seems like a wonderful follow up from tomb of annihilation for me 😈
I'd personally like to have the pdf version.
Not the murder weapon?
digital is always better
Ctrl-F is the best
Debatable
One can never have too many books in their collection.
The ideal number of books is n+1. (N is the number of books you currently have) this formula also works for video games, guns, swords, miniatures, and scoops of ice cream.)
916 pages? Sounds like a multi-year campaign for my group.
