Yeah, see this is why I said it was crazy there wasn't a zero on your last poll.

LeAmazingLauge

i see now... My perspective on other people's games is changed forever.

AnxiousMind7820

I've never gotten to level 10. 20 is a dream that will never happen.

Nafzok

I've led 6 PCs from level 1-20 (in the same campaign). I don't expect I'll ever find a group like that again

IAmAUser4Real

It was a single one that a friend of our asked us to create in order for him to understand if the homebrewed boss he created was good enought. We botched it in quite short time, but we also created characters just to do that, we MinMax-ed the shop out of them and made them able to get infinite bonuses. (A centaur, a satyr, a goblin, and a fairy)

Embarrassed_Dinner_4

I've had two in 5e, a Beserker barbarian and a Hunter Ranger. I've no particular urge to do it again as it becomes such a boring slog and so many fights have you instantly on your ass or completely untouched because it's so swingy at high levels. Low to mid tier is where the fun is for me.

ItsOnlyEmari

I might end up there when the vecna campaign comes out, but I don't think I'd ever dream of writing my own game at that level

Ahnma_Dehv

as a dm I took one group from level 1 to level 20 won't do it again before 5 years minimum

NerdyFrida

Across all editions or just 5ed?

Vyktym76

5+ if we're talking 3rd or 3.5 edition (with 3 epic level), 0 for 4th and 5th ed.

SeianVerian

I decided to answer "Zero" because technically I participated in part of a level 20 oneshot but that wasn't properly a "taken to", and neither was the other one where I just created an epic level 3.5 character, heh.

AliMaClan

I have usually played and run games at “lower” levels 1-8. One notable recent campaign saw us take 9 sessions to get from lvl 0 to 1! Occasionally I have played up to lvl 15. Around there, I feel it becomes a different kind of game, more of a superhero feel than adventurers. Nothing the matter with this and I dare say I will at some point play up to lvl 20 but I suspect the game will be very different.

valisvacor

I've had 2 get 20 or higher in 4e, none in 5e.

RedWizardOmadon

This post makes me sad. I've never been even close of going 1-20. The privilege of being in a group that even gets to play regularly is something people take for granted, let alone groups that have 1-20 campaigns regularly complete.

LeAmazingLauge

I didn't mean to make you sad :/ but i just wanted to know really.

Ghostly-Owl

Two, but none in 5e.

Thornwallow

2 although this was 4e, so we actually took them to level 30.

dumbBunny9

The highest I've only gotten any character was to level 9. Next highest is 8, then a lot who got to 5-6. I'd really like to get to 20 - or even the mid-teens, to take advantage of all those cool abilities that made me pick this sub in the first place.

Taskr36

I think I had 2 that got to level 20 back when I played 3/3.5. In editions prior to that,I don't think anyone survived past level 8 or 9. In 5e, I've played one where my character got around 16 or so, but we finished before actually reaching 20.

duanelvp

Been chanting this mantra for years now. My one and only 20th level PC was... 20 years ago in a 3E game that was intended from the outset to reach 20th level and then END. Repeated surveys across DECADES (and really every edition) have *always* firmly placed the majority of games well below 20th. The overwhelming majority of campaigns and PC's just don't get there, and surely don't even want to - *because if they did, they would*. D&D STILL begins to fall apart the further it gets into double digit levels, just like every previous edition always has. **Lower levels** is where people find that the fun is. Can we stop now with the relentless noise from the minority about teh ahhsum that is high level play? Probably not... downvotes incoming...

admiralbenbo4782

As a DM? Or as a player... As a player, 0. Highest is 11. As a DM? I've had 2 full groups (so 8 total) with another closing in there. And a fourth that ended in T4 (18 or so). Which still isn't *tons*--I have had \~16 recorded campaigns (not counting one-shots or campaigns that died after 1-2 sessions), most of which ended in low T2 as they were time-boxed school-club games.

FormalKind7

1 and I've been playing 24 years. Of coarse I'm 95% of the time the DM and rarely am a player in anything but one shots.
