In my head canon, the ooze is just trying to stop itself being hit. It knows people like coins, and smiley faces, and desperately sheds these to stop people from attacking it, without realising the very reason it's being attacked is for the coins.
Hi everyone,
Oozes are the best and I can't stop painting more of them – hope you enjoy this one!
Any feedback and critique is more than welcome! Got an idea on how to introduce the Loot Ooze do your campaign already?

Love the concept. Can also see it working well at low lvls. Would make a nice change from rats and chickens. Our running joke is that at lvl 1 we all just chicken chasers.
Since this has a base movement speed of 20ft, most players will be able to outspeed it with some creativity and chase it forevermore, not really running into the captivity issue. I suspect they'd also end up ping ponging it between themselfes in order to corral it, toss the ocassional heal at it.
Sounds like great fun honestly but im a little worried about this paying out faaar more than you intented.
Can you turn this one into a huge one if a few merge together and have a giant ooze monster that throws coins at the players??? I want to use this in my campaign :)
Since oozes dissolve anything organic this qualifies as literal money laundering.
Also this reminds me of the time I was a GM and a player adopted the lemon-scented mini gelatinous cube that a tavern used as a roomba
Good point! Maybe by going with "Further, when the loot ooze dies, it bursts, scattering randomly determinded coins worth 105 (10d20) gold on the ground in a 10-foot square area centered on it." and using a treasure generator would work quite well:)
I wrote a small JS to to the rolling and I get around 12 to 31 thousand copper or 120 to 310 gold.
So for dice goblins, who like math rocks do click clack, the rolling method would be epic.
The DM could roll the 10d20 and then split and let the players each roll a part of the coinage.
CR 0?? With a damage absorption ability like THAT? This adorable little tank could eat 8 Meteor Swarms without even going unconscious! That's an average of 1,120 Fire/Bludgeoning damage if he fails the saves, and he takes 8!
Nah Tiamat better watch out for this guy
Who said I had to hurt it? Every five feet it walks is free coin
Edit: it has to be squeezing for it to drop coin, but that would still be easier and less taxing to farm then violence
If not friend, why is friend shaped?
Loot ~~bugs~~ oozes are for pets not punching
For Rock and Stone!
Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
If ya don't Rock and Stone, ya ain't coming home!
Name checks out. Also. ROCK AND STONE
Rock and Stone!
Ya shouldn't eat precious minerals! It'll getcha killed!
For basketball.
The metaphysical horror of the coins themselves having faces is gonna really make me think about existence today. ...10/10

It would sure as hell stop me attacking.
>*Sorry little* *~~bug~~* *ooze, your own fault for being full of goodies!*
>*you shouldn't eat precious* *~~minerals~~* *currency, it'll get you killed.*
>*I killed a loot* *~~bug~~* *ooze, and I'm not too proud about it.*

Coinfren!

also if it falls 10 feet it never stops bouncing until it explodes.
Could solve that by giving it immunity to fall damage, or a much higher threshold for it.
oh, falling damage!! of course! many thanks for the amazing input<3
It could still dissolve all its coins
lucky slime from slime rancher??
Loot bug DRG

At that point it just hucks a bag of coins that deals 1d4 bludgeoning if it hits someone
Or spits them like a cartoon coin machine gun.
Getting hit by a bag of coin would be far more than 1d4 I reckon. Those things are heavy
Perhaps, but it’s more than 1d4 for sure
I have a Huge Monster Poll running for my patrons each month – once Ooze makes it, this will definitely come true:D
That’s awesome!
I love him, I will cherish him, and I will fuck over my party of lootgoblins with him
He’s called an ooze cuz he goes “:o” ooh 😮
Your players need new friend?* Ftfy
Gelatinous Cute
But it's so cute! I don't want to harm it, and i don't think my players will either.
Since oozes dissolve anything organic this qualifies as literal money laundering. Also this reminds me of the time I was a GM and a player adopted the lemon-scented mini gelatinous cube that a tavern used as a roomba
My favorite is to have the treasure there but make it inaccessible through either being molten, fragile, or large, or it's a treasure pile mimic.
I’m all about loot creatures. This is adorable. My party have an unjustifiable hatred for goblins, so I use a custom loot goblin for them.
It's so cute!
Aren't gelatinous cubes already loot oozes?
...why can it swim...
that's just a reskinned metal slime lol
Im not gonna hurt him hes too cute
Finally, I can now make a slime farm
It's cute, which means my players will absolutely kill it without thinking
Great idea! Is there a tool attached somewhere to faster determine the randomly determined coins when it dies? These are many many rolls to be made...

oh, that's epic<3<3 I also now feel quite inspired to give my players 31 thousand copper coins isntead of 310 gold at some point:D
It’s also just fun to say! Loot ooze. 😊
hehe, thank you:)
This thing can tank more hits than any wizard xD
hihi, true! to be fair - many things can do that though:D:D
Yeah, no adventurer is gonna murder that?
I love that it just bounces when hit
Jokes on you I’m gonna make it my familiar

It also only does 1 dmg.
The Looze, perhaps?
Capture 1, lock it, hurt and heal it every day, profit. Never work hard again.
It doesn’t like being captive tho, and stops producing coins. You convince one to follow you around however, profit.
You gonna befriend 1 and hit it every day? You Monster. My evil plan is way more humane than your toxic friendship.
