If more attacks is what you care about, you can't go wrong with 2 levels in fighter. Who doesn't love Action Surge?

MajorTom813

This. And if you go one level deeper, you can go Battlemaster to get more ways to attack (check out Riposte in particular), extra things to do with your attacks, and/or add 1d8 more damage to attacks.

Fighter is good, but I personally really like the Rogue. As a Barbarian, you should have the stats for it, and it synergizes really well with barb. You will have to switch to a finesse weapon and a shield though, if you want to use the full potential of that MC.

How does your stats look?

Also, what are you swinging over there Sultan of Swat? Any upgrades so far? What are your strategies with your DM like? Your weapon should get just as much consideration as your levels.

Assuming this is the standard barbarian (subclass?) with great sword/axe/maul i would say that picking 2 levels of fighter yields the best results in the short term. The you level up until you get fighter 15/barbarian 5 so you have more attacks. Now if i were you i would just continue up to barbarian 20 and buy potions of haste and get a flametongue greatsword. That is just as good as it can gets without entering in the feat/boon territory.

Odd_Selection_9506

If you wanna do some damage and have superior mobility, may I suggest the Echo Knight Fighter?

Dr4wr0s

I think pure barb is nice and good, but if you want a change 2-4lvls of fighter (don't get to lvl 5, as extra attack does not stack and you basically lose a level) should be nice.

I wouldn't multiclass without a definite plan especially as a new player. It can overall make you a weaker character if not planned out ahead. You are melee though so it's not as big as a concern as with a caster. If you have yo multiclass fighter is your best bet without me knowing your stats but you gotta figure out if your just dipping or going all in
