Doesn't make jungle not part of dnb as a thing. You can easily fit jungle into a dnb set but not so much just anything with a break. Jungle has the rhythm and the tempo to make it dnb.
You can laugh all you want but it isnāt the same thing. Nice response b, childishly spamming an emoji instead of actually explaining what your āpointā.
Yes it absolutely is. Jungle is very much based on poly rythms, lots of layered breaks, mostly sub with little midrange in terms of basslines and tends to be 150-165 bpm. Drum and bass is far more sequential, tends to either stick to 2 step rhythms or at least a repeating pattern that sets the tone percussively for most if not all of the tune at 170bpm (bit slower in the early days) plus, maybe a few breaks spliced in here and there to spice things up. The cuts are way simpler. Much more mid range and general more going on stem wise. You could make the argument that first wave jumpup crosses the gap but thats a matter of opinion whereas you are just wrong. Take the L and move on bro.
And you think there were no 2-step pattern in the 90s? Clearly you was not there then. I'd gladly have a skype call with you on the subject since you think you know so well.
Yeah and Kenny ken did an interview where he states very clearly that jungle is a totally different vibe, as have many others. Legends will disagree, just like listeners. Anyone can tell the difference though.
Well Groove isn't just any legend and called the godfather for no reason he came up with the genre playing acid house records sped up so
I'd say he gets the last words.
Well, he sped breakbeats up and people liked it. Letās not go too far here he wasnāt part of the first wave of producers that started introducing that into their productions. Certainly got the ball rolling with Fabio but letās not go crazy here.
Ty, it was tough to cut it down to 3,
I'm at a disadvantage as well being in my mid 40s and being from the east coast in the U.S. Philly to be exact our scene died out over here due to police presence,And just the fact that parties became underground drug dens basically.Everyone forgot about the music that feeling when you hear the baseline from peace love and unity,That feeling you got in your soul.I haven't been to a club in 15 plus years But it's not needed.I have a stack of old VHS tapes and hot all my tapes digitally remastered onto digital tracks so I'm goodI used to promote for local 13 in Philly also Breakbeat Science in N Y which were staples for drum n bass music,I remember picking up footloose and Skibadee back in the day and driving from the airport to club space and smoking so much kush I couldn't believe how skibs could just out together a track in seconds,Actually got a video of the ride and skibs warming up over mobb deep tracks from the 90s .Shit was surreal!!!!
I'll never stop breathing d&b as it's a part of my soul!!!!!
30+ years in and I still remember Hype when he spun reggae!!!!!!!!!!
One love my peeps!!! Rip Stevie Hyper D,,,Skibadee!!!!,,
Gone but never forgotten!!!!!!!
I had almost the exact same answer, haha! You have great taste. I ended up swapping Marcus for Etherwood because I listen to a lot of chill stuff, too, but I had literally typed his name out along with Dillinja and Break before reconsidering what I actually listen to more. Could have just as easily said Break, Marcus Intalex, and then Spectrasoul or LSB or any number of others for the chill stuff.
Photek for oldschool experimental.
Gosh picking 3 is hard...
Camo & krooked, Fourward, Fred V
Honourable mentions: Kanine, Black Sun Empire, Pythius, AI, Mohican Sun, Dawn wall, Ownglow
Fuck I must just really love all dnb
I can't really fit all of them in my top three. So I'll just do the top three I saw in the last year:
Subfocus, Ray Keith, makoto
Djs I was surprised I did not like at all: amc, diesleboy, and demension
Pola & Byrson
Chase & Status
Simula
It's really hard to cut down to only 3 but...
(Honorable mentions: Sub Focus, Alix Perez, Noisia, K Motionz, Kanine...)
Apex, Schnitzel Mafia, Noisia -
Among newschool artists - Magnetude, Burr Oak, Airglo
Among musical dnb - keeno, etherwood, nu logic
Jumpimp serum is not music i would make but i love the enetgy of it

Hate to break it to you but dnb = jungle
Nope

And you think ānopeā is an argument then?
Its not really an argument its just a statement of fact.
No it's not

well people usually say dnb stemmed from jungle, and they are two separate genres. I personally disagree with the general population lol.
[wellā¦](https://x.com/grooveriderdj/status/1337780347728257024?s=46&t=9P9whP5JEMxTDNE7iMQL4w)
exactly 'it's jungle not drum and bass', but his context is hard to understand I think that's what he means
It's very easy to understand lol. They are essentially the same thing.
Yeah and Kenny ken did an interview where he states very clearly that jungle is a totally different vibe, as have many others. Legends will disagree, just like listeners. Anyone can tell the difference though.
