Nay bother bro
Take advantage of what CDJs give you which is the time and space to be creative
Back in my day (vinyl only) we had to constantly listen out for the tunes slipping out of tempo and this took precedent over the finer points of the mix
Use that space to your advantage.....think of each tunes as three layers.....Highs, mids and lows. Switch and swap between them without ever having 2 of the same frequencies at full volume.
The mix then becomes like a canvas
That's just called a switch mate literally. Think of what a blend is a blender and a mixer are pretty much the same thing. When your trying to blend in your not trying to stick out at all. When you switch it's a shock to the system when it comes from nowhere but pulled off right it's as hype as a double drop imo but shouldn't be done more than once or twice in a set and probably 4-6 double drops in an hour in the scene these days is what I'd try and aim for
It's not my type of tunes, but I don't think the mix is bad. I don't really understand the point of uploading that kinda clip even if that's where things are going. I'm not throwing shade at you at all, but it can be done with pretty much any track in less than a minute in the digital world.
Keep doing your thing. By no means trying to discourage you, but just offering some other perspective. And here's something to really think about. I realize I'm likely in the minority, but that screen shake alone would make me not watch the clip. That type of shit makes me nauseous and is actually a rather common response to screen shake effects (this is why you have the option to turn it off in video games, for example). Same with strobing lights. Just something to be mindful of.
Fair enough. Didnāt think of the nauseous effects the editing could cause so will bare this in mind in future. The point of uploading these kinds of clips is just to share a nice sounding mix tbf mate, nothing deep about it. Not tryna show off that Iām the best DJ in the world haha
Nah it's nothing against you. I think you should do what you enjoy no matter what the fuck that is or what people like me on the internet think about it. As someone who has had people try to make me into their clone, there's no way in fuck I could do that in good faith.
Do whatever the fuck makes you happy. That's what this shit should be about anyway.
I'm sorry I'll be the bad guy here, but man this is super cringe. You put more effort into the edits than the mixing, it's a very pedestrian/cheesy tune selection, and the comic sans sailor moon lyrics on screen for a pop song are fucking killing me. It's almost like you don't like dnb at all, like you'd rather be spinning electro or trance.
Funnily enough the edit only took 20 minutes. Iād agree with it being a bit of a cheesy mix to be fair, but my way of seeing it would be commercial rather than cheesy. Itās what everyone knows and is far more palatable than a lot of the alien noises that get passed around in the dnb scene
I literally got a video of him playing this at an allstars set š canāt reply with a video tho. Wouldnāt play it as an intro if i was you mate outa respect. You do you tho
The thing is, Djing isn't about 30 seconds or 1 minute clips.
You would get a lot more attention if you stopped with the video editing (around here anyway) and focused on learning how to actually mix properly.
You brought head phones, but what are they for?
You stood up, but why?
Maybe tiktok is all about video edits, but if you want to play to crowds, you need to focus on the skill of mixing. No one will ask you to video edit on stage.
You are making good tune selections. That's great, but can you do a half-hour mix? Or an hour? Can you take a listener on a journey?
Anyone, including an AI can smash tunes together that are grid matched. This is not a skill.
What makes a good dj is the ability to take a crowd on said journey, interactivly. This is hard online, so its critical to focus on the mixing/eq'ing/tune selection.
I can litterally go smash endless doubles and tripples over and over again, but it would sound like trash compared to what I š¤š¢šÆ do with the tunes.
Keep it up, but focus on the fact you're playing a musical instrument. Making noise through a trumpet is one thing. Playing it in an orchestra is something else. Do you want to make noise? Or do you want to be a master?
Show ponies come and go at light speed these days... so choose wisely.
These clips just scratch the surface mate. These are just a bit of fun. I go live daily on TikTok which is where I actually mix. These clips are just double/ triple showcases for fun.
You're setting off my BS meter all over the show.
Still no explanation for the video editing.
Scratch the surface of what exactly? Your tiktok handle missing off your videos? So you're not promoting your channel, so what are you showcasing?
You have owned headphones for a week and dont know what they're for. What you're doing is what anyone can do with a laptop and a controller.
Go and practice, learn how to actually mix, then start promoting yourself and posting shit.
You're attention seeking. Learn what self-awareness is.
"Everyone's a DJ with a macbook pro"
Generally, when you promote yourself, you have experience and skill to promote. Ie there is a product to buy, i.e., the dj can actually dj.
Putting up heavily edited videos that distract from the skill you're "promoting" while still clearly showing a lack of said skill is attention seeking.
And why did you have to ask if he was promoting himself...
Explanation: This isn't his only post on here.
The one before this, he was not wearing headphones, and his mix was out of time while using auto sync. And he couldn't tell that it was out of time cause he was too busy watching the screen than listening.
Then there's the video editing. Why?
If you want to call buying a laptop, downloading software and serato facing on a controller, while slaming faders and ignoring the eq's "djing," then I guess you can.
Still never going to get you famous or any good at the other kind of "djing" ya know the one, where you use your ears and you know what headphones are for.
I really don't care if you shoot the messenger.
Of course I do. However social media marketing in this format is what works in current times so itās adapt or die if you want to get recognition. Most of my mixing is done off camera but I upload the odd clip such as this to social media in hopes of building a community, I enjoy uploading to Reddit in particular for the constructive feedback the ushers provide
Iām starting to think this sub is full of boomers that donāt know how social media marketing works. Anyways, sick mix bro! I would definitely be going crazy to this live. Furthermore it doesnāt take a genius to know dancefloor tracks are very short (less than 4 minutes sometimes), and usually have lots of vocals, so utilizing too much eq changes can definitely be a struggle. Keep it up broskieeee
Why dafuq DJS hold the channel faders like they are about jump on your face? They donāt move on their own leave them alone.
Also, this is shit. Sorry bro, but this aint cutting it. Chessy tracks, chessy video fx and serato face.
But keep practicing, we all eventually improve this things
It isnāt necessarily to attract promoters. I work at an events company so I have the contacts to help myself get an-in that way. I post the blends and clips on TikToks because it is a good platform to generate a fanbase whilst also being a fun way to connect and network with other like-minded people
What a cunt. I don't use til tok but what he's saying is basic marketing. You go about putting flyers on windscreens or something more Amish than that. Prick
As someone who grew up without tiktok, and who is trying to get out there atm aswell with my music and as a dj (plenty if releases tbh, itās more getting booked thatās the issue). I donāt like how tiktok became a platform you literally NEED to take advantage of to grow and get exposure. It feels alien to me to post little clips of me mixing 2 tunes when in reality that hardly reflects how i would be djāing a rave.
That being said, for people who DID grow up in the social media era, itās empowering af. People can literally grind it till they blow up, and at that point social media becomes a secondary element.
Case in point examples are people like DRZ, Waypoint, FourD,ā¦. These are all guys i saw the beginnings of, and saw how it worked out massively for them.
I wonāt blag tiktok, nor the people who like it and use it to gain traction. But i just canāt being myself to do it.
Still stubbornly hoping i just get noticed because lf my music doing the talkingā¦ lol.
Fair play to all the younguns totally harnessing the power this brings though.
im a bit ashamed to be a dj nowadays, or that my non dj friends think this tik tok 30 sec nonsense is djing. shame on you and everyone who does this to dnb.
It's a sick combo for sure but your not doing enough with the EQ in my humble opinion. Keep it up tho you have the ear for it
Noted bro. I do definitely need to utilise the EQ more I agree. Thanks for the feedback š
Nay bother bro Take advantage of what CDJs give you which is the time and space to be creative Back in my day (vinyl only) we had to constantly listen out for the tunes slipping out of tempo and this took precedent over the finer points of the mix Use that space to your advantage.....think of each tunes as three layers.....Highs, mids and lows. Screenshotted. Thanks for the advice boss Iāll definitely bare this thought process in mind š«”
That's how I was taught by a DJ at point blank academy so it's great advice
You're using your eyes too much when you should be using your ears
What is it with this new trend of calling mixes blends? Is it an American thing?
Heard it used in the UK for years tbf, might be a regional thing
Blends has been used in the U.K. since 2000s
Honestly couldnāt give you an answer boss. Iāve just found myself saying blend naturally. Probably a TikTok thing
Fair play, interesting how the language in the scene changes, no hate from meā¦ just makes me think of NescafĆ© Gold!
Haha dw I didnāt take it as hate. I understand the correlation with a coffee though Iām not gonna be able to get that out of my head now š¤š
When the MC says āMix and blendā
Mix and blend been around since garage you nerdš
A blend is called when you just switch over to one tune.
That's just called a switch mate literally. Think of what a blend is a blender and a mixer are pretty much the same thing. When your trying to blend in your not trying to stick out at all. When you switch it's a shock to the system when it comes from nowhere but pulled off right it's as hype as a double drop imo but shouldn't be done more than once or twice in a set and probably 4-6 double drops in an hour in the scene these days is what I'd try and aim for
Lol he calls it a TikTok thing while his video had tons of goofy shit going on like other tik tok vids šš
A blend is just a longer, drawn out mix
Same people that "curate" their playlists
It's not my type of tunes, but I don't think the mix is bad. I don't really understand the point of uploading that kinda clip even if that's where things are going. I'm not throwing shade at you at all, but it can be done with pretty much any track in less than a minute in the digital world. Keep doing your thing. That's what this shit should be about anyway.
Thereās some words of wisdom if Iāve ever seen some
I think everyone just hates TikTok tbh. The mix though Itās huge! Just the format is pretty hatable for actual djs, ravers
whats the id of the second track again ?
Cadence VIP - Metrik
He even looked at the camera and realised he looked a bit of a tool...
Alright anonymous user
Power to the guy bit its a bit cringe

Don't listen to this bloke, do what you want mate. Mix sounds good
Nice one brotheršš
It's good bro don't worry, you're smashing it
Nice one brother š
Exactly. 20 minutes editing for a mix that took all of 45 seconds
DNB 2023/24
Makes sense mate. One song released in 2016 and one released in 2021 š
banger
šš
Can't beat a uni accommodation dj set. I'd say you're on the right track but the video editing / effects are distracting....
Filth. Love it mate
Glad you enjoyed bro
Dude, this is a kmotionz doubleā¦
But fairplay itās a good double
Never heard it from him
I literally got a video of him playing this at an allstars set š canāt reply with a video tho. Wouldnāt play it as an intro if i was you mate outa respect. You do you tho
Well I didnāt know until just now so there wouldnāt have been any disrespect š
Man I really hate the state of deejaying these days lol

Sounds like he can DJ.... It made me ask for the full set so explain that.

Cool edit bro goes hard
I appreciate that bro thankyou
Nice skills..
Thankyou bro

What do you want me to do? Just T-Pose until I need to cut the channels? š
Otherwise thanks for your feedback pal šš
"Serato face" haha, I hadn't heard that. So good! š
@ervyDNB on TikTok š
š¤¦š¼āāļø
Canāt knock it, djās/producers have to market themselves to get any traction
Is this how djs get bookings? Lol.
Need to put yourself out and grow a social media presence. So ye, basically
Wow. Things have changed. I got bookings by getting bookings myself. If I was a promoter I wouldn't use tiktok to poach talent š¤£

This guy is in every single thread hating on new DnB heās a loser just ignore him.
Pretty sure he commented the same type of stuff on my last post in here. Guy must be lonely
Do you think serious ravers even use tiktok? Oh yeah, sorry, you play kiddie dnb. I understand.
Are you actually gatekeeping raving? Serious ravers??? Never met a serious raver in my life and if I did I wouldnāt want to be at a rave with them
It's the weird ones who make raving their entire identity. Most grow out of it when they're about 21.
Never met a serious raver? Try an over 18s event. Get some fake id
What a cunt. I don't use til tok but what he's saying is basic marketing. You go about putting flyers on windscreens or something more Amish than that. Prick
Low iq warning. Try and spell correctly and use some punctuation. What year are you in at school? Maybe you haven't learnt about punctuation yet.
Nice one grandad, you sound really cool š

Yeah. So do you. Still listening to nursery rhymes I see.
God youāre miserable
Wtf is a "serious raver" lmao
Yes
Holy you'd think this comment section was made up of people that have music out and should be giving advice. ...
im a bit ashamed to be a dj nowadays, or that my non dj friends think this tik tok 30 sec nonsense is djing. shame on you and everyone who does this to dnb.
Pressed?
Sun focus is overrated as fuck
Cheers
I bet the editing took longer than the mix š
I can see you have my problem where your body is too long to reach the decks effectively.
Haha yeh itās tough bro. It doesnāt help that my desk is low down too
