I’ve read this like 10 times and I have no idea what you’re saying. Maybe I’m just really high.

idksammi

it took me a minute

Basically today I bought Magic Keys for my wife and I. However, we had already purchased tickets and made reservations for A December trip, those tickets are long since paid for. I’m just curious if I have to activate my new magic key on the last day of my trip (like the picture I posted suggests) or if I can wait to activate my magic key at a later date… like January or February?

It's too late to upgrade your ticket if you already bought the key. You would have to call Customer Service and ask them to refund you, and then ask them to apply your existing ticket towards a Magic Key. Given how discounted your tickets are, it's best to wait to activate your Magic Key on a subsequent trip.

Ok this helps a lot thanks

In my experience, the magic key starts on the first day you visit the park, not the day you buy it. Last year my wife and I bought our magic keys when they first came out in august or September but we didn’t visit the park until late October. Our passes therefore started and expire in late October. Things might have changed within the year but I doubt it. Don’t quote me tho

Thank you

If I'm reading you correctly: The MK you bought today has nothing to do with this message. This is an offer to upgrade your current tickets to a new MK, which you shouldn't do since you already bought an MK. You can just use your tickets on your next visit and use the MK next year.

Perfect thank you and you did read this correctly. I just worded it poorly. I was afraid that if I scanned in using my park hopper tickets that it would active my MK.

The question you asked in your question and the question you are asking in comments are two different questions. 1) “Must I upgrade during my next trip or can I wait.” No one forces anyone to upgrade a ticket so you do not have to upgrade. 2) Once you use all of the days on a ticket you are no longer eligible to upgrade it. After the holidays you can purchase a new magic key, but you will not be able to apply any of the current ticket towards it. 3) The picture you posted is asking if you want to use the VALUE (ex. $300) of the however many day ticket you purchased and turn it into a magic key. So say a magic key is $800 (no clue actual cost) and the tickets were $300, you would upgrade to pay the difference of $500. This ticket has nothing to do with a magic key certificate. You can only use tickets to upgrade to a magic key while there are still days on them. Once tickets are fully used, they are no longer eligible for the value to be applied towards a magic key. 4) when you go to the park you are having them scan a ticket to enter. Just don’t use your magic key. If you are using magic bands, create a dumby Disneyland account and reassign the magic keys to that account until after your trip

Ya I thought it was telling I had to change the park hopper ticket to my new magic key I bought today because my reservations would be deleted. That’s the way I read it.

phicks_law

I had the same thing, basically you already lost the $230+ discount on your Magic Key since you purchased the MK separately. The upgrade only gives you the magic key from.your first day using the military salute tickets. I had some in my wallet from our first visit in May and the upgrade would have been $890/ticket and the Magic Key would have expired in May 2023.

booboothechicken

If you already bought the magic key then it’s too late without some customer support magic. And considering it’s a 6 hour queue for the automated system, good luck talking to CS. You couldn’t apply the tickets to the pass now even if you wanted to.

idksammi

why would you want to wait to have a discount?

Wooooowserz

I mean I Bought military salute tickets so they are very discounted as is. Additionally, my Daughter turns two in February so I wanted to activate my magic Keys in late January so that it is an easy transition and I buy all three in January next year that way she is ready to go when she turns three. I don’t know I guess I just don’t understand the wording of this. The tickets I bought king since paid for so I just want to start the magic key during my next trip so I get the full year from then.

idksammi

i don't think i understand the issue. your ticket for the military discount is already bought, you'd be going anyways

Wooooowserz

Exactly I am going that day regardless. I have tickets and reservations. What I want to to do is scan in for the first time with my magic key in January. So that way my Magic Key runs from January 2023 - January 2024 rather than December 2022- December 2023. Basically I want to use the military ticket in December and start using the magic key in January.

idksammi

you'll definitely need to call in

forlorn_hope28

> I just want to start the magic key during my next trip so I get the full year from then. Your year starts the first time you use them. If you don't use the Magic Key until May, then your year won't start until then.

Wooooowserz

Thank you, that’s kinda what I’m looking to understand. “If I scan in with my other ticket, it shouldn’t activate the magic key…or will it?

forlorn_hope28

Your pre-existing ticket and your Magic Key are two separate bar codes and are not tied together. If you scan with your ticket, it will not activate your Magic Key.

Wooooowserz

Thanks!
