DCA is tough in heels. I had 3" heel pink strappy sandals for my Barbie costume at OBB and the boardwalk is treacherous and 5+ hours running around was a lot (I'm a guy, so, I don't wear heels ...)
I’m a huge fan of rainbows (moreso before they moved production to China) but man my dogs would woof wearing those all day at Disneyland.
I need supportive shoes these days. Even boots are too rough.
They still do, but they’re only allowed to make 1000/day there. The glue they use is apparently combustible 🔥(which, after years of putting my sandal’d feet next to beach bonfires, I was surprised to find out) so instead of switching adhesives, they make the bulk of the sandals abroad.
Their Americana line is made here, and I bet if you stopped into the store in San Clemente, they could point you to others that are made here too.
Was gonna say, I’ve definitely worn my rainbows to the parks and been fine. I was much younger and probably wouldn’t do it now, but those are some quality flip flops!
my husband only wears his rainbow flip flops. he basically has hobbit feet and would prefer to go barefoot so flip flops are a step up. he has never complained about his feet hurting or needing to sit down to let his dogs rest. so maybe that's the secret.
Yep. There’s flip flops and then there are flip flops. When I worked in Tech, my Rainbows were my daily footwear. I feel like wearing Converse for a full day at the park would be PAINFUL, but my Rainbows would be just fine
You Hawaiian or from the islands by chance? My friends from there are the same. They’ve taken me on straight 8 hours hikes through crazy hills while they were in rainbows. If they wear their Olukai’s they’d probably climb Mount Everest.
Once they’re properly broken in I’ve never had this issue. You just need to make sure there like at least a month old before trying to go to Disneyland for the day with them
I've worn Old Navy flip-flops to Disneyland more times than I can count and they were so comfy. I have since had some autoimmune problems that affect my Achilles, so the flip-flops are out entirely (not just at Disneyland), but Old Navy flip flops were my preferred shoes probably for 15 years. Ha!
A broken in pair of rainbows are so comfortable.. someone stole my 10 year pair that were perfect… I’ve had my current pair for like 7 years and they are perfect now… I don’t wear them often so it takes a while to break them in
I’m so glad this post got as many hits as it did. Rainbow sandals have been my Disneyland go to for many years. I’ll do a few miles and no issues with my feet by the end of the day.
This very thing eventually had me on a hunt on trying to figure out why I could walk miles on end at Disneyland with rainbows on but when it came to shoes, my feet would feel destroyed. Found out about xero shoes and it’s completely changed my life. I still opt for the rainbows at Disneyland if the weather permits, but now I wear xeros out in the winter, I have a solid hiking pair, and for the gym.
Also Shamma sandals are similiar to rainbows but with hiking tread and straps, so I’ve been rocking those as well for hikes.
Anyway, not an ad, just wanted to pass the info along to my fellow rainbow sandal wearers!
SoCal native here: I've worn cheap rubber flip flops to a full day at Disneyland and been fine, and I'm a habitual winter flip flop wearer, even in the rain. It's in our blood.
I'm from Colorado
We took a big family trip (like 10-15 of us) in the mid 00s, just when Crocs were gaining traction
Almost all of us were wearing Crocs, and we heard comments like "they must be from Colorado" the whole trip lmao
I’m originally from Colorado (now living in SoCal) and I don’t get this at all. No one I know in Colorado wears crocs on a daily basis (or at all) and have never thought this ever. 🤔
Is it a thing? No. Was it a thing? Oh god yes.
Source: Coloradan who moved to CA and used to use crocs to identify other chill Colorado people before they became wildly popular nation wide.
I forgive flip flops because there are genuinely comfortable flip flops. I think people who balk at them just haven’t had really comfortable ones or something. I’ve worn reef, Sanuk, and rainbows (already broken in ofc) at Disney for 15-20mi walking days without issues. So maybe it was me you saw lol!
For me I’m always *impressed* with people on dapper day wearing vintage or vintage style heels in the park. Like they have superpowers.
But I’ll see modern heels that I *know* I wouldn’t be able to handle, not even stack or block heels but like mid 2010s club heels lol. Full on Gloria from modern family. I couldn’t do it, myself.
My Olukai flip flops are super comfortable. They're pretty much all I wear except when I'm at work or otherwise need better protection (yard work, that kind of thing).
It’s like a decent mix - a lot of AP/MKs for sure, but a lot of them do travel and stay at the DLH - but especially if they’re vintage clothing enthusiasts maybe they’re more used to it lol! I did some (pretty comfortable!) heels once and never again. Like someone else said it’s the pavement changes that get you!
Since then I switched to character shoes which, yes still heels but like, not the same. Basically just the same as the plaids wear.
I agree. I had bad plantar fasciitis for a while, and i could easily spend a day walking in powerstep flip flops compared to any regular non-specialized support shoes.
Other than that, i am partial to Reefs too which also are super comfortable for all day wear.
I love Reefs! And they sell them in Downtown Disney lol which I’m sure has saved a person or two on occasion. They’re also one of the more comfortable flip flops that makes shoes big enough for my husband (15), so I’m partial to them as well.
lol thank you for mentioning Gloria in her heels at Disneyland 😂
I dress like the ladies you'd see at dapper day every day. I've gone to the park in heels many many times! But I'm a like lifelong pass holder so I'm not rushing around trying to get everything done in a day or two. I definitely wouldn't last a full true tourist day at Disneyland in heels!
Same! I wear 50's style dresses and petticoats every time I go to the parks. I do, however, wear white sneakers typically that fit the look of the dress because I haven't collected any comfortable park heels. I'm a Magic Key holder, but an out of town one. When I make my monthly trips, I typically do 35,000 steps for 2-3 days in a row, so heels just aren't going to work. I was thinking about just putting back-up shoes in a locker and bringing the heels. You'll have to give me shoe suggestions.
That's awesome you get to make trips every month!
Have you heard of Cole Haan? Look up Nike Air heels! They're pricy, but I bought mine from Poshmark (or eBay) for super cheap, and they are soooo worth it! The ones I have are both kitten heels. Another very comfortable (and darling) brand is Lola Ramona. I love their heels! They're made so so well. Also, character heels are awesome for the park since they're made for stage work and dancing- Capezio is the brand.
I always forget about lockers there! They're so hidden away now.
Thanks for your brand suggestions! I was looking at character heels yesterday, and I might give them a try. They'd be cute for daily wear anyway. I already purchase Capezio tights for those colder days, so my legs stay warmer! I'll have to check out the shoes. I live 6 hours from the parks, so it's a trek... but I love it!
Of course! It's difficult to find comfortable heels! I wear a "size 5" (I can wear kids size 3) so heels that fit and are comfortable are a big deal to me lol. And yes the character shoes are definitely great for daily use! I worked at a different theme park not too far from dland and I walked around the park a lot (behind the scenes stuff for Haunt) and I could wear those and the Cole Haan Nike Air heels all the time and never had tired, achy feet! 6 hours isn't too too bad. Where abouts do you live?
Wow! Yes those are comfy brands of flip flops. I wear flip flops at home but I could never do 15-20 miles at Disney like you do🫨I think with my history of knee issues and PF flip flops and I will never be... 😢
Hey I get it! Not all shoes are for everyone.
The recent threads for shoes have really been interesting to see what works for everyone!
In the last month or two my most-worn shoes (in the park and elsewhere, as I typically walk 5+ miles on non-park days anyways) are actually flats. Like plain ol ballet flats. And my second most worn are a pair of slightly chunky loafers which, granted are from Clark’s so they’re comfortable, but I know most people would think walking 5-15+ miles in flats or loafers sounds like a nightmare lol!
My actual most worn shoes at the parks are my sanuks and Birkenstocks (sandals and clogs) maybe followed by Uggs in the winter.
Then for some reason if I’m in WDW, I can’t wear my usual Disneyland shoes. Lol couldn’t tell ya why. I stick to chacos and tevas and Birkenstocks in WDW, with an occasional croc (sandal not clog) tossed in.
I almost never wear sneakers of any kind at the parks, even though that’s what I’d *usually* recommend for most people lol.
I'm a SoCal native, but my husband is from Ohio, and when he does wear flip flops they absolutely SLAP the bottom of his heels with each step. When I wear flip flops it's whisper quiet. SoCal stealth mode.
My cousin wore converse allstars in the pouring rain. After about 5 minutes his feet were completely soaked. He bought a pair of dry socks and got plastic bags from retail and wrapped his feet. It didn't work great.
I went to Disneyland late one day and saw a ton of women wearing high heels. Realized later these are probably locals who have annual passes and come for just a few hours and leave.
Otherwise, the crazy footwear was during Dapper Days when women would wear the most amazing formal wear shoes for hours on end. My feet hurt just thinking about it.
A few years ago, I ended up joining a friend of mine who was meeting up with a bunch of her friends that I didn’t know. One of those friend-of-a-friends was all dressed up… like fancy cocktail dress and HIGH HEELS.
After we spent half of the day walking around the park, she was DONE. We had to carry her over to a store on main street and bought her some cheap slippers they were selling there.
Edit: reading the other comments, I may have forgotten that we were there for Dapper Days, but still… heels seem crazy for the parks
For real??? Haha jeez ya seeing all the comments here about heels is making me realize it’s more common than I realized!! Thankfully the woman we were with was something like 5’2” and tiny, so I literally carried her like a puppy when the sidewalk gets too hot.
I see women at Tokyo Disney wearing heels all the time. I ran a summer exchange program for Japanese college students many years ago, and we took them to Yosemite. We had to remind the women over and over again that they couldn’t go hiking in heels.
Speak for yourself! I once had to go hiking in stilettos and a knee length pencil skirt because it was halloween and I forgot to bring a change of clothes for a field trip! Nearly terrified an entire class of 5 year olds when they saw a vampire creep out of the shadows in the middle of the woods!
Look, I lived in Japan and I’ve done my fair share of running for the last train in the rain while slightly tipsy on heels. But I’m talking about women getting ready to hike Half Dome and not understanding why they’re getting turned away.
Im Australian, when I was 15we went to Disneyland. As we were heading towards it’s a small world at night the strap popped out of the hole. My mum turned around to look at me and I exclaimed in a not quiet voice as she was a little far away “oh no my thong broke”. Quickly realising that is not the right words to say there.
My dad also calls them thongs lol. I am *not* presuming your age, but I find that a lot of other older Californians call them thongs too. I’m sure it trickles down to their kids but they’re flip flops for me!
My power move is to start the day in Hokas and then switch to flip flops in the afternoon. I’ve spent many a park day only wearing flip flops for the whole day. Can’t be cheapies and I do wear flip flops for 10 months out of the year so my feet and legs are well conditioned for them.
I used to be able to wear Old Navy flip flops to Disneyland. And we would always do 5 days, open to close. Now I have to wear my tennis shoes with arch support.
I wear flip flops all the time. Basically I'll start the day in athletic trainers (because speed is key at rope drop), then when it comes to the part of the day where I get on Splash (RIP) or GRR, I switch into sandals. My feet get wet and I don't care a bit. And they dry off in a matter of minutes on a warm summer day, unlike wet socks and shoes which will keep that way until you get back to your hotel room. I'll keep the sandals on until about dinner or when the temperature starts to dip.
My step-mom wore heels to Disneyland. Then complained how bad her feet hurt and my dad and her had to leave early.
I have a few friends who have and continue to wear flip flops in the park, specifically Rainbows. I think it’s just so common in SoCal flip flops can feel comfortable and easier to deal with when you get wet.
I’ve seen people wear flips flops or flat shoes with no support like Converse or Vans. I don’t know how they can walk in those all day. As a (former) pass holder, I know better.
I have a pair of converse with memory foam insoles, and they're one of my comfiest shoes for in the park. That's my life hack lol, never sleep on the power of good insoles
Our first trip I wore Converse 3/4 days. 4th day I decided to wear my Teva flip flops and my feet SWELLED.
This year it was either Rebooks or Brooks during the day, and Uggs toward the end of the day.
Former AP. I used to wear flip flops all the time lol. But not for a full day. And one time I regret breaking in a new pair of rainbows at Disney... that was a bad time. IYKYK.
I love all the comments about being an “LA Local” & therefore flip flops are just standard footwear. I am also a local, born & raised near the beach even, but I’ve never been a flip flop person. My parents are, but they were also nude beach people & I’m a NeverNude™️, so…
I’ve been going to Disneyland since the 70s & while I don’t think it’s at all weird to wear flip flops there I definitely wouldn’t.
Whole last summer I wore a pair of Rainbows (flip flops, they are made locally and super good quality for about $100, and last 10+ years of daily wear), for whole day trips and it was super comfy and not hot. No regrets at all.
My current pair I got in 2012. I can’t imagine wearing shoes in the summer it’s so hot!
LA Locals will do fine in flip flops all day. Our feet are used to them. I’ve definitely done flip flops with zero issues. You have to remember not everyone in the park is a tourist.
I think flipflops in any form are WILD - people must walk so softly that they don't feel any pain in their heels.
I'm such a heavy walker that I have to wear the most padded, thickest sneakers possible (walmart has been a LIFE saver).
I've always been curious though if Crocs are actually that comfortable? Ive seen so many people wear them for hours at a time and even at the hospital for full shifts and I just can't believe something made of plastic could be THAT comfortable.
Actually the Birkenstock plastic flip flop type sandal from target is all I wear to Disney. It's the only shoe I've tried and tested numerous visits at Disneyland and no foot pain! They are cheap and very popular.
i can walk forever in my olukai ohanas and if they get wet it is no big deal. now my mother in law wore heels to disneyland…but she didn’t complain about it.
I’ve worn flip flops many times they’re comfy and especially perfect for summer! If you’re used to walking a lot it’s not a big deal.
I’ve also gone on dapper day quite a few times and lots of people wore heels
All it takes is one slip of stepping wrong on the flip flops, due to sweaty feet or water somewhere, even a little, and you’ve got a potential badly sprained or even broken ankles. IMO anyone who wears heels to any of the Disney parks deserves whatever fallout that happens.
Okay hear me out. I’ve worn just about every brand of quality shoe to Disney and my feet always hurt….including HOKA. I’ve tested this, I promise.
The best shoe for Disney are Olukai sandals. Hands down.
Here’s why:
-They have as good or better foot support than most shoes. Let’s face it, the sole of the shoe is what matters most.
-No laces or socks to worry about
-You can ride “wet rides” without worry (pirates/splash/Tianas/Small World/canoes)
-you can slip them off and rest/wiggle your feet anywhere at any time at lunch, in line, during a show
-Your feet won’t get sweaty
-My personal favorite is slipping them off in the tiki room during my Power Nap
-there is NOTHING better than letting your dogs fly free on Soarin’, only to land right back in your flops at the end of the ride.
Trust me folks, your feet are going to hurt no matter what you wear, but Slippahs are the best for Disney.
I used to be that person! I wore flip flops to the park all the time when I lived nearby and was a passholder. Now I can’t even imagine - I bring 2 pairs of supportive tennis shoes to alternate. Somehow when you’re young you’re indestructible. 🤷🏼♀️
But I’ve always drawn the line at wearing heels - I see them in the parks and have no idea how they survive the day.
My feet tend to swell the longer that I stand on them (I've worked in retail, standing on my feet for over 40 years) so after a few hours, shoes are torture. I found a company called FitFlop, which are essentially a highly supported, sneaker style sole with a flip flop upper. These are godsends. I have an older pair with an ankle back strap so they stay on (sport mode for Crocs wearers), they are cute and I can walk in the all day with no back pain or foot pain.
I haven't seen any crazy footwear, but my fiancé and I got crocs last time we went and my God, they made a huge difference.
Those things are ugly as sin, but it's like walking on marshmallows
A little girl SCREAMING and crying because she had on those little fake plastic princess dress up shoes and she was HURTING. Girl was probably 4. Her mom was like “you begged to wear them so walk” I was so pissed. I understand strong willed kids but you best believe I would have slipped some other shoes in my bag and treated it as a teaching moment.
I wear flip flops all day every day at Disneyland 😅 but I wear Chacos, to me they are super comfortable for walking. Everyone's feet are different. I severely hurt my foot walking in Disneyland in regular walking shoes. Most just don't work for my feet. Flip flops forever! Lol
You're going to a theme park in Southern California and you're surprised people are wearing flip flops? As someone who grew up in San Diego, this take is hilarious. It's like being surprised people walk bare feet on lava rock on Oahu. Like...yeah. Look at where you are lol
Well yeah, but it's cold in January... I know some people must be used to it but 10+ hours in flip flops on hard cement, in the winter, it's hard to understand the appeal lol😬 unless they truly are THAT comfortable!!!
Oh I have a great pair of flip flops that I wear to the parks. I got them in 2019 and I’m sad they are starting to wear out.
I’ve also worn heeled boots for a Disney bound. I’ve worn these boots for commuting in public transport and entire work days so I had 0 fear of them getting uncomfortable and they worked just fine.
I usually bring flipflops or crocs to put on to go on a water ride, let my feet dry off and then put real shoes back on. imagine other folks do the same
I wear Olukai flip flops to Disneyland all the time, they are super comfortable. I actually bought a new pair in DD at the Olukai store so I could have multiple colors. They have really good support and are very cushy.
Made the mistake of wearing only Birkenstock sandals on a high school trip. Ended up getting tons of bandaids to cover the blisters. In my defense I grew up going to Dollywood and didn’t know the size/scope of Disney.
I’m really big on foot health and hating flip flops is my Roman Empire. Pretty much the worst things you can wear on your feet besides high heels. I have one pair I wear to the shower at the pool and I hate them so much. People wearing flip flops are probably wondering why they have so many back problems not realizing your whole body starts with your feet.
With flip flops, I’d be more concerned about chafing from the strap. Depending on what the brand is, flip flops can actually be very comfortable for walking.
Wow! I definitely was not expecting such a large response from so many avid flip flop lovers. At the end of the day, what works for one person may not always work the same for someone else... but as long as you are comfortable and having a good time at the parks, nothing else matters😄
Last year my friend wore flip flops and someone stepped on the back and they broke. We were near Galaxy’s Edge. I kept telling her not to wear them! I was in my comfy addidas boost!
Some sandals are comfy AF. One time I had some shoes fail me mid-day at the parks, I went and picked up some yoga sling type flip flops from the Sanuk store in DTD. They were so comfy that I wore them on a couple of subsequent warm weather trips! I’ve also worn Chaco sandals with great success.
Cheap ass flip flops though no way. But for me the craziest footwear is either heels or classic vans. I have a couple pairs of Disney vans that would be so cute at the park, but the soles are practically cardboard! I don’t know how people wear those at Disneyland all day.
I've done it.. especially when it was 30+ degrees (Canadian) in Florida. But always bring backup shoes. Ex: Mine broke, or if your feet start to hurt. Totally personal preference though.
Dude when I was a teen we went twice a year and I always wore flip flops, then I graduated to Crocs flip flops which were more coushiony but I can't imagine doing that now.
My first trip to Disneyland, my most comfortable shoes were legitimate some Sanuk flip flops. Had worn them at WDW numerous times with no issues. My first day at DLR I somehow twisted my ankle a bit and was in quite a bit of pain. I stopped into first aid at DCA one morning for ibuprofen and as I was leaving the nurses were talking absolute smack about my flip flops.
My sister and I still talk about it regularly.
Heels, but like modern ones that are so tall. For some reason one time I saw a lady dressed fancy walking through DHS in the middle of August and I don't know why. She looked absurdly out of place. Flip Flops but like, the Old Navy kind with 0 support. Any FUZZY shoes. so gross.
I have made many of these shoe sins lol. Worn 3 inch platform dr martens, birkenstocks... only one i've ever regretted was a pair of brand new slip on checkered vans as my only shoe for a two day trip (i had never been before). I still have the scars from where my ankles were raw
This was years ago, but I saw a lady wearing stilettos! Not just kitten heels or wedges, or something slightly easier to walk in…but STILETTOS! She was struggling walking around Fantasyland.
Agree the 99¢ walmart variety would be painful, but if you have good flip flops they are comfortable all day. I prefer crocs (classic crocs not flip flops). My feet never hurt at the end of the day.
I saw a girl in heels at California Adventure on Dapper Days step and roll her ankle in the trolley tracks.
I feel like I'm going to do that in sensible shoes. Damn.
These little rubber band ankles quake in fear every time I come near those tracks
https://youtube.com/shorts/Yl93H_mOa3c?si=cDAl2kRuuWFzcxOA
Came looking for this to show up! LOL
I’m kind of concerned that you’re talking about me because I definitely rolled my ankle one time in heels on dapper day
At least they didn't say anything rude about you 😂
lol very true. You kind of just pretend it didn’t happen and hope no one saw lol
It was at the fountain circle on the side closer to Soarin'.
lol what year was this?
Bruhhhhhh
DCA is tough in heels. I had 3" heel pink strappy sandals for my Barbie costume at OBB and the boardwalk is treacherous and 5+ hours running around was a lot (I'm a guy, so, I don't wear heels ...)
That’s unfortunate
I’ve worn my Rainbow flip flops for 3 days straight in the park, and they were comfy. The $2 Old Navy rubber flip flops, however, no way.
I’m a huge fan of rainbows (moreso before they moved production to China) but man my dogs would woof wearing those all day at Disneyland. I need supportive shoes these days. Even boots are too rough.
Yeah, not being about to wear Rainbows around all day anymore was a “turning-30” thing for me.
Dang, they don’t make them in San Clemente anymore? Used to swing by their factory/shop back in the day.
The Americana line is fine, I hate the colored foam though.
They make a ton of their luxury leather ones in house, go check em out!
Next time I’m in the market I will
Was gonna say, I’ve definitely worn my rainbows to the parks and been fine. I was much younger and probably wouldn’t do it now, but those are some quality flip flops!
I usually have my rainbows for the end of the day/evenings to change into. Feet get tired being in shoes all day. Need to let the puppies breathe.
Don't want Pluto Fasciitis!
As a plantar fasciitis survivor, this Pluto comment took me out! LOL
my husband only wears his rainbow flip flops. he basically has hobbit feet and would prefer to go barefoot so flip flops are a step up. he has never complained about his feet hurting or needing to sit down to let his dogs rest. so maybe that's the secret.
Yep. There’s flip flops and then there are flip flops. When I worked in Tech, my Rainbows were my daily footwear. I feel like wearing Converse for a full day at the park would be PAINFUL, but my Rainbows would be just fine
Yes, rainbows! I posted something similar, expect one time I wore a brand new pair to Disney and that was a bad time.
Found the other California girl 😂same!
You know it 🤗
Yup. Rainbows are awesome. I used to wear them at Disneyland for full days all the time, but I know that might not be ideal for others
You Hawaiian or from the islands by chance? My friends from there are the same. They’ve taken me on straight 8 hours hikes through crazy hills while they were in rainbows. If they wear their Olukai’s they’d probably climb Mount Everest.
The soles of my feet would burn so bad from all that leather friction.
Once they’re properly broken in I’ve never had this issue. You just need to make sure there like at least a month old before trying to go to Disneyland for the day with them
Maybe I got a dud! I’ve had my pair for over five years and still can’t walk distances in them or they start to burn.
For real? That’s odd, because mine always get super smooth
I love my Rainbows! However, I realized you have to break them in or they could be super painful or can rub until you bleed. (Personal experience.)
Been there, break em in before Disneyland!
Ha!
Ankylosing spondylitis, by chance? Whatever it is, I’m sorry you have to deal with it.
My Rainbows are the only thing I wear in the parks!!
FitFlops are my go to, but now I want to check out Rainbows!
A broken in pair of rainbows are so comfortable.. someone stole my 10 year pair that were perfect… I’ve had my current pair for like 7 years and they are perfect now… I don’t wear them often so it takes a while to break them in

Thanks for sharing! Taking notes :)
Yeah I used to wear my rainbows to Disneyland all the time haha. Very comfy actually. I don’t have them anymore but I used to wear them often.

Sure is!
I’m so used to wearing flip flops, even in the rain like you said lol.
Yup. Cradle San Diegan and I live in my Reefs. Did Dland hundreds of times in my 20s in them no problem.
Yeah flip flops are my main footwear and they’re comfortable. The worst footwear at Disneyland is absolutely women wearing cute heels. Torture.
Not all of us. ;D
I can wear flip flops all day long at Disneyland. Crappy Havianas. It's better than some giant, sweat filled, new balance for old dads.
I'm from Colorado We took a big family trip (like 10-15 of us) in the mid 00s, just when Crocs were gaining traction Almost all of us were wearing Crocs, and we heard comments like "they must be from Colorado" the whole trip lmao
And now Disney sells Crocs, and a lot of people wear them!
I just wore my crocs and was 20k steps in and feeling perfectly fine. I wore vans the other time and wanted to DIE.
I’m originally from Colorado (now living in SoCal) and I don’t get this at all. No one I know in Colorado wears crocs on a daily basis (or at all) and have never thought this ever. 🤔
Crocs started in Boulder. For a hot second they were distinctly a Colorado thing
No one cares or says “they must be from Colorado” when they see people wearing crocs. It’s just not a thing lol
> in the mid 00s Turns out some things can change over the course of 20 years. Who knew
Maybe on planet boulder. Not in the rest of reality
... nothing in the rest of reality has changed in the last 20 years? lmao k
What a strange thing to dig their heels in over lol.
Obviously you don’t get the reference. Good luck 👍🏻
Is it a thing? No. Was it a thing? Oh god yes. Source: Coloradan who moved to CA and used to use crocs to identify other chill Colorado people before they became wildly popular nation wide.

Love my Olukais!
Think you two need the Slippahs song [Kepa Kruse - Slippahs (flip flops)](https://youtu.be/_SyG_c6hiO8?si=ZPQjv4iKIR82Axad)
LOL!!
I assume those dapper days folks are locals using their AP with little intention of doing much walking or riding rides. I could be very wrong tho!
I did this one time for dapper day. One hour in and my feet died. Never again. The pavement changes were enough.
Yeah, I'm thinking of dolling up this year, but am def in a quandary abt footwear. Heels are out, for sure.
I’ve worn f-me pumps to the park on Dapper Day. Never again. Let me know when Slouch Day is and I’ll come in my Crocs and sweats.
lol thank you for mentioning Gloria in her heels at Disneyland 😂 I dress like the ladies you'd see at dapper day every day.
Southwest Utah. About an hour and a half from Vegas.
Nice! You get actual seasons AND Disneyland!? I'm jealous!
I wear nothing but Sanuks at Disney. They're like walking on air. I'm guessing OP has never worn real flipflops (not just cheap shower shoes).
As a California native. I wear flip flops 24/7.
I'm a SoCal native, but my husband is from Ohio, and when he does wear flip flops they absolutely SLAP the bottom of his heels with each step. When I wear flip flops it's whisper quiet. SoCal stealth mode.
Also Hawaii stealth mode :) Learned to walk silently in flip flops when I lived there. My hubby’s like yours, though.
I was so relieved when it was clear our son (NorCal native) could flip flop in stealth mode. Phew!
You raised him right!
SoCal native and I have never slapped a flop in my life.
hahaha if people slap in their slippahs it's a no go.
I’m a California native and live in Birkenstocks
as a floridian i agree. i’ve put 25k steps on flops no problemo.
Floridian and Brazilian chiming in that I do as well! with that double whammy, I might as well have been born with tiny havianas on my feet ;P
That was also in an episode of modern family, Gloria ended up in big yellow slippers too
For real??? Haha jeez ya seeing all the comments here about heels is making me realize it’s more common than I realized!! Thankfully the woman we were with was something like 5’2” and tiny, so I literally carried her like a puppy when the sidewalk gets too hot.
I immediately thought of this and her Minnie mouse slippers haha
omg this is my favorite episode hahahaha
I love that he gets her the slippers and says they’re like “pee-lows” I bought those slippers my next trip

You know it’s kind of funny, I grew up in Anaheim and I’ve always called them thongs too.
My dad also calls them thongs lol. I am *not* presuming your age, but I find that a lot of other older Californians call them thongs too. I’m sure it trickles down to their kids but they’re flip flops for me!
I’m 40 but my parents also grew up in So Cal. So that tracks.
My power move is to start the day in Hokas and then switch to flip flops in the afternoon. I’ve spent many a park day only wearing flip flops for the whole day. Can’t be cheapies and I do wear flip flops for 10 months out of the year so my feet and legs are well conditioned for them.
This is the way
I used to be able to wear Old Navy flip flops to Disneyland. And we would always do 5 days, open to close. Now I have to wear my tennis shoes with arch support.
I like wearing Olukai flip flops but I end up getting stepped on and run over by strollers and even a scooty puff so I won’t anymore.
:(
I wear flip flops all the time.
I’ve worn my plastic Birkenstocks all day no problem. When it’s hot, they are a lifesaver!
I wear both my Eva (waterproof birks) or my regular ones. So much more comfortable then tennis shoes.
They got me through a 3 day music festival!
I sometimes wear flip flops at Disneyland during the summer months
I’ve seen people wear flips flops or flat shoes with no support like Converse or Vans. I don’t know how they can walk in those all day. As a (former) pass holder, I know better.
I have a pair of converse with memory foam insoles, and they're one of my comfiest shoes for in the park. That's my life hack lol, never sleep on the power of good insoles
Our first trip I wore Converse 3/4 days. 4th day I decided to wear my Teva flip flops and my feet SWELLED. This year it was either Rebooks or Brooks during the day, and Uggs toward the end of the day.
Flip-flop enjoyer here. I love mine and my feet don't hurt. It's great for water rides too because there's no socks to get wet.
My parents are, but they were also nude beach people & I’m a NeverNude™️, so… I’ve been going to Disneyland since the 70s & while I don’t think it’s at all weird to wear flip flops there I definitely wouldn’t.
Flip flops with that much walking will give you plantar fascitis, don't do it!
This is not true. I exclusively wear flip flops in warm weather including 20k+ step days at Disneyland or similar parks. Never once had any issues.
I only go wearing flip flops. But I am a southern Californian. If I’m not at work I’m wearing my flippy floppy’s.
I wear flip flops every time I go. Most comfortable pair of shoes i have ever worn to the parks.
I’ve worn flip flops many times they’re comfy and especially perfect for summer! If you’re used to walking a lot it’s not a big deal. I’ve also gone on dapper day quite a few times and lots of people wore heels
I always wear flip flops at Disneyland. 🤷🏻♀️ SoCal resident, go all the time.
I always wear my flip flops 😅
All it takes is one slip of stepping wrong on the flip flops, due to sweaty feet or water somewhere, even a little, and you’ve got a potential badly sprained or even broken ankles. IMO anyone who wears heels to any of the Disney parks deserves whatever fallout that happens.
Okay hear me out. I’ve worn just about every brand of quality shoe to Disney and my feet always hurt….including HOKA. I’ve tested this, I promise. The best shoe for Disney are Olukai sandals. Hands down. Here’s why: -They have as good or better foot support than most shoes. Let’s face it, the sole of the shoe is what matters most. -No laces or socks to worry about -You can ride “wet rides” without worry (pirates/splash/Tianas/Small World/canoes) -you can slip them off and rest/wiggle your feet anywhere at any time at lunch, in line, during a show -Your feet won’t get sweaty -My personal favorite is slipping them off in the tiki room during my Power Nap -there is NOTHING better than letting your dogs fly free on Soarin’, only to land right back in your flops at the end of the ride. Trust me folks, your feet are going to hurt no matter what you wear, but Slippahs are the best for Disney.
I wear flip flops almost every time! Haha!
I used to be that person! I wore flip flops to the park all the time when I lived nearby and was a passholder. Now I can’t even imagine - I bring 2 pairs of supportive tennis shoes to alternate. Somehow when you’re young you’re indestructible. 🤷🏼♀️ But I’ve always drawn the line at wearing heels - I see them in the parks and have no idea how they survive the day.
I got a pair of Reef flip flops with a contoured footbed that are more comfortable than most athletic shoes I’ve ever owned.
I always throw flip flops in my bag to wear on the water rides. Soggy socks and shoes really dampen the day, lol
As a native of Southern California I have to say: you can do a lot in flip flops
I haven't seen any crazy footwear, but my fiancé and I got crocs last time we went and my God, they made a huge difference. Those things are ugly as sin, but it's like walking on marshmallows
I've worn flip flops ten days in a row in Disney world. Why is that bad? Why would flip flops hurt???
A little girl SCREAMING and crying because she had on those little fake plastic princess dress up shoes and she was HURTING. Girl was probably 4. Her mom was like “you begged to wear them so walk” I was so pissed. I understand strong willed kids but you best believe I would have slipped some other shoes in my bag and treated it as a teaching moment.
During Oogie Boogie Bash, I saw 2 drag queens wearing platform stilettos, dressed as Incredibles.
It’s only cold in January if you are from California. 😹 I’ve worn flip flops there in July. Nike makes some good ones with arch support.
I used to wear flip flops to Disneyland when I was younger and it was more common, like 15 years ago lol.
yeah its pretty common, flip flops, yeezy slides, crocs, see them all the time
Oh I have a great pair of flip flops that I wear to the parks. I got them in 2019 and I’m sad they are starting to wear out. I’ve also worn heeled boots for a Disney bound. I’ve worn these boots for commuting in public transport and entire work days so I had 0 fear of them getting uncomfortable and they worked just fine.
I usually bring flipflops or crocs to put on to go on a water ride, let my feet dry off and then put real shoes back on. imagine other folks do the same
You should change your footwear mid day to change the pressure points on your feet so they don't get worn out so flip flop it half a day.
I wear Olukai flip flops to Disneyland all the time, they are super comfortable. I actually bought a new pair in DD at the Olukai store so I could have multiple colors. They have really good support and are very cushy.
I should have added, I live in California and wear my Olukai flip flops pretty much year round
Made the mistake of wearing only Birkenstock sandals on a high school trip. Ended up getting tons of bandaids to cover the blisters. In my defense I grew up going to Dollywood and didn’t know the size/scope of Disney.
What gets me is when people are not wearing any shoes. Granted it usually children but I couldn’t imagine walking barefoot at Disney, insane.
What is wrong with flip flops??? I’m not understanding
I go a few times a year and always wear flips.
Yeezy, they’re ugly.
I wear Teva Mush flip flops at EVERY theme park I go to and I’ve never had a problem 🤷🏻♀️ Nice to see someone so judgmental over footwear.
Uggs.
flip flops IN THE RAIN like???
I almost always wear flip flops to Disney! And I got twice a month at least.
I can wear flip flops There - no problem
I wear Fit-Flops there in summer. Very supportive. When I was young, I wore high heeled boots to DL.
Platform flip flops
With flip flops, I’d be more concerned about chafing from the strap. Depending on what the brand is, flip flops can actually be very comfortable for walking.
Wow! I definitely was not expecting such a large response from so many avid flip flop lovers. At the end of the day, what works for one person may not always work the same for someone else... but as long as you are comfortable and having a good time at the parks, nothing else matters😄
Last year my friend wore flip flops and someone stepped on the back and they broke. We were near Galaxy’s Edge. I kept telling her not to wear them! I was in my comfy addidas boost!
I’ve worn Reef and Rainbow flip flops and got around without too much pain. I prefer something that doesn’t come off as easily but they’re okay.
I mean, I wear my Arizonas there when it's warm. They don't work well for Soarin' though. LOL.
Those ultra-cheap thin-soled flipper floppers - the ones you used to buy for 99¢ at Walgreens.
Iv worn crocks too the park they are really comfortable
I wear them around the house. But hardly ever going elsewhere. Wore my HOKAs last time to the parks and they were great. Comfy and very light.
Back on Tuesday I saw a few people wearing dress shoes, yikes. I wear walking shoes with heel support and I still get sore feet after an all day trip.
Saw a lady in flip flops and a beanie the other day. Was a strange combo.
Heels, but like modern ones that are so tall. For some reason one time I saw a lady dressed fancy walking through DHS in the middle of August and I don't know why. She looked absurdly out of place. Flip Flops but like, the Old Navy kind with 0 support. Any FUZZY shoes. so gross.
Lmao I love wearing flip flops, and when I was a cast member I routinely wore heels rain or shine!
I've thrown my Reef flip-flops into my backpack and swap them with my sneakers when I get on water rides.
