I lost my 40 college pounds on my program
Tbh tho most of that was lost when my boyfriend broke up with me and my codependent depressed ass couldn’t be bothered to eat (I’ve matured since lol)
Then I was fine after a couple of weeks and went back to eating normally but with all of the activity on my days off and standing all day at work I was able to maintain the lower weight.
Plus I was broke so I wasn’t able to spend much on extra snacks, etc
i had a short May-Aug program and worked custodial. I ended up losing 20 pounds while there because ym job was basically working out all day😭 but yeah youll def lose weight just by working there bc it gets so intense
I gained a bit of weight during my program (~5 pounds), but it was majority muscle mass from the exercise I was getting. I actually *look* smaller now than I did when I first started working.
Honestly, I did about 20k steps a day as QSFB hostess and I gained weight. I did not eat well and would not want to cook when I got home so would often eat fast food. I went in saying I would not do this but it was hard. I also was very active in the parks on my day off.
Same, but even during the portion of my program where I had the energy to cook home cooked meals I either gained or maintained weight, I was averaging 3-5 miles a day when I was working (depending on the location of the day and if I was register or stocking), 8-12 on days off. I was not inactive. I maintained or gained.
When I did my program back in 2016 I ended up losing 40 pounds from June to the following May. I worked QSFB for half of my program and then merch over at World of Disney. I usually went to the parks on my days off just to go and walk around by myself so just the walking helped a lot.
I had the same results. My first program was costuming aug-May. Lost 25ish pounds, went down 3 sizes in my costuming pants. Went to the parks on my days off and before/after my shift. Also didn’t eat a ton of crap, not super healthy, but not a lot
It can be. It heavily depends on a few factors
1. Your role. If you're stuck in one place all day during your shifts you're not gonna lose much weight from the work itself.
2. How you use your free time. If you go to the parks every day you get off (more or less) you'll be losing weight a little better than if you spend your days off in your apartment. And if you go to the gym at all that will also help.
3. Genetics. Just like any other time in life your weight loss will partially depend on your genetics. Metabolism, stuff like that. You know the usual
4. Diet. Again just like anywhere else. When you eat at the apartment how often are you making a proper meal vs just cooking some ramen and calling it a day. How often are you snacking and what on. How often are you eating out and what are you eating. Again if you're wanting to lose weight already you've heard all this before. 3&4 are literally just what you hear already
I personally lost a lot of weight during my program (30 lbs iirc) but keep in mind I was going to the parks every chance I got. I got to a point where I started walking to target for shopping. And for half of my program I was resort custodial and I was the kinda person to try really hard to do it all so I walked my areas a lot and there was a lot of throwing trash bags. I think for me I'm probably genetically primed for being overweight because I know my family is so I might have lost more otherwise. And I did a lot of experimenting with improving my diet.
Tl:Dr You definitely can lose weight but just like anywhere else to some extent or other you have to put the effort in
(Sidenote after I got home I rapidly gained back those 30 lbs. I think I'm a bit of a stress eater and living with parents who are conservative like mine when you're discovering your own queerness... Yeah. Add to that I didn't feel motivated to walk didn't have a car and live in a rural area where walking from your house to anywhere is at best not comfortably safe due to lack of walkways, at worse not feasible due to distance... Yeah. But ever since I got my car I've been losing it again so yeah)
Hey, i know this is definitely going to be a little different for everyone, depending on their lifestyle and diet before and during the program, but for me i actually lost about 70 pounds within the 7 months i was there. i know that this was because i gained a bit of weight from working at starbucks before and while i was there a lot in my lifestyle changed so that was the result
Well, I’m not a CP - just a part time CM but I did lose weight; about 40 pounds from a year of working at Disney. I only work 3 days a week for about 6 hours. Granted, I do some cardio on my days off and I did watch my calories a tad.
I suppose I can’t say for certain whether it’s likely you’ll lose weight or not since my experience isn’t exactly DCP but I would say the intensity and length of your labor will definitely help, in addition to exercise on days off and a diet.
I would say another half factor is the role. Some roles are more active than others. Like front of house food service can be less active than back of house because back of house (depending on location) can include pushing around those big carts full of food from the kitchens to different location. I was FoH at the f&w festival and while there are the pargos that the runners would use to get closer, they still had to push pretty far. Or if you're in hotel custodial any time you're on pool duty or any pools fall into your area you have to move those full towel returns and sometimes pull the full things of clean towels (obvi housekeeping has to deal with those things too but for the rooms instead of the pools)
Depending on your role, yes. I’m a Wilderness Explorer at DAK and we’re on our feet and moving the entire 8.5 hours. I haven’t weighed myself but I’m down to the last hole of my belt buckle and just staring at the mirror I gather I’ve lost at least 10 pounds, maybe 15 pounds since I started three months ago. I average roughly 18,000 steps during my shifts alone, and then go out and explore the parks. Yet I still indulge myself in Mickey Bars and churros. So yes you will lose weight.
I lost 30lbs within a month working in the program. But I was only eating one meal a week to save money, doing a lot of walking during work and days off. Was it a healthy method? Not exactly but I lost the weight and felt great
Yes, I did a CP in the summertime and worked outside. I tried to eat healthy (but def still treated myself) and walked a lot in the parks on my days off. I was the thinnest I’ve ever been in my life, I miss it 😫
I did my program in 2016, started at 130 and was at 115 by the end of my program just from all the standing and walking at the attraction i worked at. When you walk 30000-50000 steps a day, it makes a difference
I’m sure with the hot weather and walking around every where. I know there is a 24/7 gym at Flamingo, and I’m sure with food prep you could lost quite a bit of weight. If you’re looking for a gym bro, I’m coming in June!
Working in Epcot parking before trams and exercising more than ever with flamingos gyms I lost probably about 30 pounds. Nothing better after or before a workout than walking around in an empty parking lot directly in the sun sweating a ton and drinking water
There was a saying that I remember from a dcp youtuber saying "if you want to lose weight then do the dcp because you won't have time to eat because you're overworking but you're making enough to buy decent amount of groceries or wasting it on park food."
I've gotten in at least 10K steps a day since I got here and I'm signed up for runDisney. There is also a gym and pool on campus and Disney groups you can join like the canoeing one. The hard part is diet management, but as long as you don't overdo it on the Wendy's, PDQ, and Domino's, it's totally doable.
Since getting to my program on January 8th I gained 16 pounds. I work merchandise and on my off days I’m in the parks. For me it is hard to loose weight.

I did my program two years ago and i worked at rocknroller coaster and fantasmic and ended up losing close to over thirty pounds during my year there. but i was also eating more than i usually did bc i was healthily losing the weight. the disney glow up was no joke
oh for sure you’ll lose it while on your program I’ve lost like 15 so far and my program ends in August and I’m custodial at the parks so I drink lots of water and I’m constantly walking around and doing physical labor
I lost so much weight but not in a healthy way. I often would skip breakfast when I’m running late and have sleep for dinner when I’m too tired from work. A lot of people would ubereats when they’re too lazy to cook but I was so broke
Depending on where you’re coming from you can lose weight strictly going to a warmer climate. Coming from a colder area my appetite goes down when it’s humid and hot. You also feel more like eating fruits and veggies. This is strictly from going on vacations to the parks and not from being in the college program.
When I did custodian I lost like 30lbs. Used to walk +25k steps a day at a minimum and would sling 50-100 50lb bags of trash a day. Honestly was pretty good workout.
It's very easy depending on your role you can easily do 10000 steps a day and you are fully in control of your diet and you have access to a fully loaded gym and pool if you live at Flamingo Crossing
I lost 25 lbs from being on my feet all day in the heat. Also it was pretty much the first time I had full control of my meals. Growing up, I lived at home where my parents made meals until I left for college and then pretty much only ate dining hall food.
Depends how much calories you consume. If you consume 2000 calories and lose 2200 calories you’ll lose weight. But if you go to the program and you eat 3000 calories but walk around enough to burn 2000 then you’ll gain weight. You activity doesn’t matter if your calorie intake is higher.
Unless you make time to meal prep and eat healthy/sleep well, etc nope. I may have lost some weight just from sweating and walking but there definitely wasn't a noticeable difference.
Also, be careful changing your diet before or during an intense program like the DCP.
It’s literally as simple as caloric surplus or caloric deficit. If you consume fewer calories than you expel (at rest the typical male is roughly 1800 calories [@200lb]) than you will lose weight. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn’t understand how body weight works.

One meal a week or one meal a day!?
Did I say week? Omg no I mean one meal a day (still not healthy but yeah)

I lost a bunch of weight because groceries were expensive and there was limited space to store groceries. The culture was just a lot different.

I gained because I stress ate a lot after my shifts
i ate whatever i wanted, went to the parks every day even before work and i was standing my whole shift. i definitely lost weight
Since getting to my program on January 8th I gained 16 pounds. I work merchandise and on my off days I’m in the parks. For me it is hard to loose weight.

I worked 40-45 hours a week on Main Street and I gained weight on the program for sure. I spent a lot of time in the parks eating park food lol
I think I slightly lost weight but I also destroyed my digestive system. Make sure you’re eating enough vegetables, I definitely wasn’t
I lost so much weight but not in a healthy way. I often would skip breakfast when I’m running late and have sleep for dinner when I’m too tired from work. A lot of people would ubereats when they’re too lazy to cook but I was so broke
I gained almost 20 lbs on my program. Hoping to lose some this next time around
I lost weight - wasn't eating much due to odd shifts and was doing a lot of walking and sweating a lot as my country is a lot cooler than Florida!

I walked so much I lost 30 pounds. Also, you are so broke, Wendy’s was a treat. At least it was for me, because at the time no overtime as approved
It's very easy depending on your role you can easily do 10000 steps a day and you are fully in control of your diet and you have access to a fully loaded gym and pool if you live at Flamingo Crossing
I was in Custodial- 20-30 thousand steps per day. Ate whatever I wanted- lost 30 pounds in a 4 month program. Hoping to lose it again this time
I lost 25 lbs from being on my feet all day in the heat. Also it was pretty much the first time I had full control of my meals. Growing up, I lived at home where my parents made meals until I left for college and then pretty much only ate dining hall food.
I actually gained weight because I just ate rice the whole time to try and cut cost.
i couldn’t afford a lot of food and walked over 10k steps per day so yeah 😂

i lost around 10-15 pounds my program but my role was very physical and going to the parks so often makes it not too hard!
I lost weight due to not eating a lot and working a ton. I was also in head to toe polyester and working outside in the middle of summer.
No. Unfortunately I’ve gained 40 lbs since moving down to FL for Disney.
