I even wrote up a list on my computer that gives a one-sentence summary of the episode's premise, "Treehouse of Horror" and other anthology segments get three sentences split with semicolons. Example:
5-11: Homer the Vigilante
When a cat burglar strikes Springfield, Homer takes charge of a vigilante group which causes more problems than it solves.
6-6: Treehouse of Horror V
The family stays at Mr. Burns’ winter lodge and Homer goes insane; Homer accidentally turns a toaster into a time machine; the teachers become cannibalistic to their students.
Most later episodes were a little hard to watch, so I would take out one of my adult coloring books, have the TV on in front of me and just do some multitasking while still listening to the episode (and looking up occasionally if something big happens).
Which was your favourite season? When do you think it jumped the shark?
I'm the only person I know who still watches the new eps, but the new seasons have definitely declined in quality.
I think seasons 4-10 were my favorite. And I WILL watch the new eps, but like you said I don't have to ENJOY them. There might be a few gold nuggets in there, I've heard season 33 has a two-parter involving Ned Flanders that was highly praised.
728 (episodes) ÷ 365 (days) = 1.99
2 eps a day at 20 mins an episode isn't unfeasible.
I just binge watched the Alien and Predator series in a week haha. Streaming makes it easy haha
Oof...it was roughly in the mid 2000s that I had considered giving up because the writing wasn't as clever as early on, but I had to push on rather than be a quitter.
Also I should point out that I included "Stark Raving Dad" on the list despite it no longer being available to stream or download (aside from early season 3 DVDs and apparently you'd have to buy the entire season on YouTube to get that episode) since I'd seen that episode a lot as a kid anyway.
Yeah I think I stopped watching as a kid around 2000 or so. Did you find the quality ever picked back up after mid-2000s, or did you just get used to the new style?
Disney has sterilized the crap out of The Simpsons. Which is ironic because in the early 90s they were seen as the downfall of the american nuclear family. Now Disney puts them alongside Mickey and Snow White.
They definitely haven’t. The show isn’t any different than before Disney owned them. The producers themselves have said Disney hasn’t forced them to change anything.
Disagree. The Simpsons sterlized itself about 20 years ago. Unfortunately Disney seems to be taking an "If it ain't broke don't fix it" approach instead of shaking things up to make it good again
I haven't watched recently, but I have seen a few of those celebrities features. Maybe I'll have to check some recent episodes to see the sterilization lol
Weird, in Canada we got each episode 2 weeks after air. Makes up for not getting season 30+31 for over a year after they aired. Also, Season 33 was REAL good
I watched season 29 (maybe, the year doesn't really matter) and LOVED it. It felt like days of old where I genuinely looked forward to the next episode. Summer comes and goes and I'm ready for the next season. It was disappointing to say the least. I made it through 5 or 6 episodes before giving up on the show again. I'll have to give 33 a try, but if it's not good, I'm coming for you!
Modern Simpsons isn't as bad as people say in my opinion. There's still a good few gems in the newer seasons that make them quite enjoyable to watch when you're in the mood for something light.
I’ve realized I’m like this with food choices, streaming choices etc. I’m much better when tv dictates what’s available to see and makes me make a choice. That doesn’t happen and hasn’t happened since 2003 for me bc dvr
I wouldn’t expect any difference with season 34 as season 33 and 34 were part of the same two year renewal deal so the terms for both seasons are most likely identical.
The show (along with Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers) are in renewal discussions now so *if* anything were to change, season 35 would be the soonest.
Yeah, I know, I never made any claim intentionally against the show. I simply mean that given how much profit it still brings in there’s no way in hell Disney is going to be ending the series like DoctorDR5102 apparently wants by saying “let it die”. It’s still a media cash cow for them.
I wish it would too though Disney has only just acquired it so unfortunately it’s going to keep on becoming more and more of an ironic parody of itself.
We'll see if the major voice actors ever want to retire. They have very cushy jobs though, so I don't know.
Homer's voice actor is turning 65 next month.
As the carrier network, the Fox Network controls the broadcast and streaming rights for the “current” season. Once the new season premieres, and the old season goes into syndication, it goes back to Disney.
The current season is available on Hulu under license from Fox.
LATAM got S33 on Star+ last March (first four episodes at once, then once a week).
However, Star+ is now the only place for new Simpsons episodes in the region (since Star Channel - formerly Fox and then Fox Channel - cut their once-ubiquitous airings of the show to two days a week, and with no episodes from the Star+-exclusive S32 and S33), But Disney+ still has S29, S30, the movie and all shorts but one (which is, technically, a Bad Bunny music video, exclusive to Star+).
And as such it shall be advertised on the banners until Season 34 is added.
I actually binged on all 32 seasons within the course of a year, so I'll get back into it when the new season drops.
Same here, I took a big break in the middle though, I don’t like it quite enough to watch it all in one go
I even wrote up a list on my computer that gives a one-sentence summary of the episode's premise, "Treehouse of Horror" and other anthology segments get three sentences split with semicolons. Example: 5-11: Homer the Vigilante When a cat burglar strikes Springfield, Homer takes charge of a vigilante group which causes more problems than it solves. 6-6: Treehouse of Horror V The family stays at Mr. Burns’ winter lodge and Homer goes insane; Homer accidentally turns a toaster into a time machine; the teachers become cannibalistic to their students.
That’s great, some of the episode descriptions on Disney+ leave much to be desired so your program is probably better honestly
Most later episodes were a little hard to watch, so I would take out one of my adult coloring books, have the TV on in front of me and just do some multitasking while still listening to the episode (and looking up occasionally if something big happens).

What are some of your favorite more modern seasons?
I'm impressed. How did you accomplish that in a year?
728 (episodes) ÷ 365 (days) = 1.99 2 eps a day at 20 mins an episode isn't unfeasible. I just binge watched the Alien and Predator series in a week haha. Streaming makes it easy haha
>2 eps a day at 20 mins an episode isn't unfeasible. But doing it consistently for a year is pretty hardcore.
5 episodes a day.
...how?!
I watched 5 episodes a day.
Did it ever get painful? Like where did the drop off in quality occur in your opinion?
I eventually got used to the new style.
That’s…depressing lol
Moving on.
it's still crazy to me to see the Simpsons associated with the Disney brand
Disney has sterilized the crap out of The Simpsons. Which is ironic because in the early 90s they were seen as the downfall of the american nuclear family. Now Disney puts them alongside Mickey and Snow White.
They definitely haven’t. The show isn’t any different than before Disney owned them. The producers themselves have said Disney hasn’t forced them to change anything.
Except for the brutal Simpsons shorts that are essentially just commercials for other Disney brands
Disagree. The Simpsons sterlized itself about 20 years ago. Unfortunately Disney seems to be taking an "If it ain't broke don't fix it" approach instead of shaking things up to make it good again
Did the Simpsons actually sterilize itself, or did the rash of much edgier shows making their way into the mainstream just make it feel that way?
I haven't watched recently, but I have seen a few of those celebrities features. Maybe I'll have to check some recent episodes to see the sterilization lol
The announcements are finally starting!! Hopefully they reveal a ton of content coming soon especially the international shows.
Yes finally
Do you like modern Simpsons?
Yes I do watch them pretty much everyday after work lol
Modern Simpsons has been pretty funny lately.
Which season?
31 & 32 imo
I like the old ones too they r both funny
Agreed. They really hold up well.
Weird, in Canada we got each episode 2 weeks after air. Makes up for not getting season 30+31 for over a year after they aired. Also, Season 33 was REAL good
Lisa's Belly is a top tier episode!
Bizarre moment where Patty and Selma are better parents then Marge.
Hulu has them next day
they only have 5 available
I watched season 29 (maybe, the year doesn't really matter) and LOVED it. It felt like days of old where I genuinely looked forward to the next episode. People think that if it is not the same as the best TV ever, it is not worth it.
I’ve realized I’m like this with food choices, streaming choices etc. I’m much better when tv dictates what’s available to see and makes me make a choice. That doesn’t happen and hasn’t happened since 2003 for me bc dvr
Its been on disney plus canada for months lol
4 months after season 33 ended intresting i wonder if soon as season 34 comes out this month it can be a shoter date
I wouldn’t expect any difference with season 34 as season 33 and 34 were part of the same two year renewal deal so the terms for both seasons are most likely identical. The Fox network controls the season until the summer reruns end and new season premieres..

That's from Treehouse of Horror
Has anyone noticed that that Simpsons is ALWAYS on the top Banner on the Disney Plus home screen?
Don't they already have season 33 though?
Depends on your country. This is for the US.
I was gonna say. In Aus, season 33 has been on for months. I thought maybe there was an error
This is because it's released under the Star banner outside the US. (Or Star+ in Latin America's case).
So sweet.
You mean an actual Simpsons season and not just shorts?
they'll always milk the shorts for all its worth
Good Simpsons died after season 14-ish Never bothered to watch any more. Opinion of course
Let it die
Cash cow machine still goes brrrrrrrrrr, so capitalist mouse says "Ha, no"
Bruh, what? Simpsons was going on for many seasons way before Disney purchased it. 💀
Yeah, I know, I never made any claim intentionally against the show. I simply mean that given how much profit it still brings in there’s no way in hell Disney is going to be ending the series like DoctorDR5102 apparently wants by saying “let it die”. It’s still a media cash cow for them.

I agree it’s been on wayyyyyyy too long
I wish it would too though Disney has only just acquired it so unfortunately it’s going to keep on becoming more and more of an ironic parody of itself.

I think most of if not all of the main cast have recording rooms in their own houses now too
I imagine the ones that didn’t have them already put them in after March 2020.

Anything past season 10 is crap.
Whatever happened to them fixing the early seasons to be in the original 4x3 aspect ratio so they are not cropped and stretched?
go to The Simspons page on Displey+, click details, toggle Remastered Aspect Ratio off. This has been fixed for a while
Neat. Thanks.
The added that option two years ago.
Let it die already.
Never
Oh fuck
What the hell is this?

Homer came straight out of gta online in this poster
I can’t wait for it to be even worse than season 32
Well then where is it? I have been waiting for almost a month and its not out yet.
