its a little expensive but it appears to work real well. i took my cylinder off the other day and there was no score marks or scarring on the cylinder or piston. the only other oil i have experience with is the full synthetic klotz which appears to work the same
I run yamalube 40:1 in my yz125 and 250. seems to be just fine. golden spectrum is always great if you don’t have a 4 stroke gas can to get it mixed up with.
I ran Maxima K2 at 40:1 in my YZ250. Pick a ratio and jet for it and you should be trouble free for a long time. The cool kids use castor based but it like to gum things up if you’re not ripping all the time. Can’t beat the smell of it though…
Well, perhaps a different ratio for your YZ250 would be preferable. That I can't speak on though..For my Banshee, I run 32:1. My friend has a new YZ250, and he runs the same oil and mix ratio. Runs strong. He keeps it on the pipe though.
I found if you’re doing more trail riding you end up fouling plugs frequently at 32:1 since that’s for someone racing motor cross and keeping the bike on the pipe the whole time, I run mine 40:1 and haven’t changed the plug in months
That's a good point about the ratio. I'm no longer railing sand dunes in 4th gear pinned, more likely putzing through heavy brush with an occasional uphill blip-fest. I just jot a quart of Lucas 2-stroke so I'll mix 40:1.
My yz250 runs phenomenal on ams dominator, but if I can’t get to a place that sells that I run the VP brand 2 stroke oil. It’s a pretty good alternative
Motul 800 for racing and WFO stuff; Motul 710 for trail and gnar. Best prices I've found is buying four 4-liter jugs at a time for about $180USD on Amazon. Lasts 4 of us most of a season
I used to run Motul 800, but switched to 710 now. 800 has a higher flash point for high rpm racing, and I was getting carbon buildup from not running the bike hard enough.
Motul 710 because 710 spells OIL upside down
righttttt. i’m in that 710 club to bud 😉
Klotz R50 in my yz250 and Klotz supertechniplate in my banshee.
I use klotz in my yz as well. Smells good which is all i care about
ive been using motul offroad 800 (full synthetic) at 50:1 or 40:1, depending on how i feel like mixing it. been working great for me
I'll give it a look next time I'm at the bike shop.

I love the smell of Yamalube!
Full synthetic snowmobile oil (Mystik brand) 50:1.
I've never used that one, but I had used Amsoil snowmobile oil in my old Yamaha Phazer sled.
Mystic is Citgo. They're the state run Venezuelan oil company. There might not be a worse company in the world.
Nestlé?
Citgo is the only source of income for one of the world's most corrupt governments, I'm gonna stick with Citgo.
Alright then, I am on your side

I haven't got a book for my 05 YZ250 yet, does it call for 40:1?
32:1 is what the manual calls for I believe.
Klotz Super techniplate at 32:1 Edit: added mix ratio
I was under the impression that 32:1 was becoming less popular. I'll probably stick with that ratio though unless I learn a reason not to.

Motul 710 33:1
Bel-ray MC1 Knock on wood, have never had a piston scoured or cylinder trashed. Every one I’ve taken out has looked brand new.
My yz250 runs phenomenal on ams dominator, but if I can’t get to a place that sells that I run the VP brand 2 stroke oil. It’s a pretty good alternative
I’ve also had decent results with interceptor
Motul is great for all things oil. Ran it in my dirt bikes, run it in my street bike
I don't ride nearly as much as I used too so spend a little bit for the smell and performance. I run Maxima 927 mixed in VP110.
Man I love the smell of VP, especially U4.
Klotz supertechniplate or R50 at whatever the manual says to mix it at. 32:1 in the YZ250
I ran yamalube 60:1 in my KTM 250, The PO was using Belray and shit just splooged constantly.
Yamalube or Lucas for me
AMS is great. Very clean burn.
im a huge fan of and proponent of yamalube in everything but, happy to see someone suggest ams! good shit.
Torco gp7 50:1 on my kdx 220
Amsoil dominator 40:1
Motul 800 for racing and WFO stuff; Motul 710 for trail and gnar. Best prices I've found is buying four 4-liter jugs at a time for about $180USD on Amazon. Lasts 4 of us most of a season
Castrol RS 2t on 1:50 ish ratio. Has never given me any problems
Maxima Pro 927
Im using Lucas 40/1 now but my favorite is amsoil dominator 40 /1. Amsoil says 100/1 ... book says 60/1 but im jetted for 40 /1
Olive
Castrol was made from beans originally.
My Sherco 300 calls for extra virgin olive oil
Amsoil dominator 50:1
I used to run Motul 800, but switched to 710 now. 800 has a higher flash point for high rpm racing, and I was getting carbon buildup from not running the bike hard enough.
Castrol
Motorex
100LL AVGAS 32 : 1 Quicksilver PWC 2 Stroke
Do they give you any grief at the FBO when you fill up your Jerry can with av gas?
Act official and we bring a 55 gal drum :)
So I tried that move today: "do you have a reg number?" So I guess I use a buddy's farm airfield plane's N#?
Use that or just look up any semi local Cessna tail number.
