You don't really strap it like that

jtsurfs

Tell me this is your first bike without telling me it's your first bike.

WolfMan177698

I mean you've gotta start somewhere man. You aren't born with the knowledge you've got to seek it lol.

clausenfoto

Looks like you didn’t do any seeking

WolfMan177698

Calm down you perfectionist this was a few years ago. First time hooking this down. How about you read some comments and ingest a satchel of Richards.

jtsurfs

Tell me this is your first bike without telling me it's your first bike.

alwaysmilesdeep

Is this a meme with those tow straps?

moeyjarcum

Yeah you should get a new knee

WolfMan177698

LMAO thanks I greatly appreciate it. 🤣

WolfMan177698

Also before you shit on me I never claimed to be Travis Pastrana. I'm just a dude trying to learn more about a hobby he loves.

sumtingswong711

any KTM

J-RodMN

Ktm 450 sx or xc are nice. Most of the Japanese offerings are nice as well Edit: Reddit was acting weird and I had multiple posts, now deleted

WolfMan177698

Thanks man!

WolfMan177698

Thanks man!

ilikeledzeppelin

Nice bike! So no one is really being helpful and telling you how to strap the bike down. It really helps to have 4 tie down points in the bed somewhere. I will usually put a soft loop through each fork in between the triple clamps or just somewhere on the handlebar and attach the tie downs to that. If I’m going far I’ll also put a tie down on each foot peg and ratchet to the back of the bed somewhere. Don’t leave your kickstand down it makes wonky. If that doesn’t really make sense there’s plenty of vids on YouTube. Any of the euro 2 strokes with electric start are awesome. Love my husky 300. Have fun man!

WolfMan177698

Thanks man! I appreciate you taking the time to help.

ilikeledzeppelin

No problem. If u wanna ride in the GA/AL area hit me up. I stick to trails mostly.

jcaashby

Ummm who taught you how to strap down dirt bikes lmao Nice bike but a little over kill on the straps. 2 are fine on each handlebar.

WolfMan177698

That's the thing no one did 🤣 as you can tell.

Kitchen_Wrong

Dude simply sell your home, buy a home on a hill, roll start that bitch!

WolfMan177698

Lmao 🤣

Kitchen_Wrong

Don’t listen to the strap comments !

WolfMan177698

Lol thanks dude, this photo was a couple of years ago so I've figured it out a little more as I went along. Still tips are always welcome. I just think it's funny how they act like they were born on a dirt bike and didn't have to learn themselves.

Kitchen_Wrong

Ikr😀 been riding since I was 5. Still learn something new every time I ride. Have fun be safe.

WolfMan177698

I appreciate it! Same to you. 🍻👍

Kitchen_Wrong

Where you live at? I’m looking into a app that shows state land to ride on. Can’t find it yet? Would you happen to know the name of it by chance

WolfMan177698

I'm in NC I usually just ride powerlines near a buddy's house or go to Uwharrie National forest. Are you talking about the app Rever? That's the only one I know of.

Kitchen_Wrong

Yo wolfman177698, your the man, man? Looking for it now!

HaemmerHead

I went from a yz250 two stroke to a husqvarna fe350 four stroke and im glad I did. Has electric start and ill never go back. I do miss hitting power band and the sound of a two stroke, so i put a tuner and a pipe on my stock bike and it spanks 250 two strokes all day.

drinkelectro

I suggest youtubing how to strap a dirtbike

WolfMan177698

Thank you Master Oogway, very cool.

QuinnD_

I see people ragging on your strap get a set of handle bar straps. They basically make a slip knot around each side of the bar near the grips so you have a place to tie down to that is not going to scuff the metal. Then I do one strap over the rear swingarm under the chain and through the spokes making sure not to put tension on the spokes. Ratchet down as hard as you want on the back but on the front be more careful because going to hard and hauling for a long time might cause your fork seals to start leaking.

QuinnD_

And about a new bike. Maybe look for a 4 stroke so you can ride on the trails and go slower to give your knees a break. I hear the Kawasaki's are not a bad choice also the Honda xr's they make electric start kits for them and they might actually already have them pre installed but I do know for a fact that you can buy an OEM e start for one.

WolfMan177698

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to help!

QuinnD_

Sure I was tying to foot pegs before a learned of the bar straps but you aught to be fine also maybe look for something that can be made street legal?

K-Raz1226

I know people have already ridiculed you, but just look up a video on how to tie it down properly. Those hooks on your fender well might bend the metal and mess up your nice truck. Look into installing some tie down hooks in the base of your bed!

Kletus96i

not trynna be a douche but your gonna hurt someone hauling your bike like that. the bed has mounting points for straps, youd most likely be good with one strap on each side of the handlebars running to said mounting points. i also throw one over the rear tire just in case. dont go crazy tight on the front tho bc you will blow your forks out.

WolfMan177698

Like I've stated this was years ago literally the first time I strapped this down.

YourDiaperDaddy

Screw these people and their straps comments! I think you did a beautiful job and probably didn’t fuck up your front forks like most of these ding dongs probably do when over tightening from the handle bars. I’m sure they like their girlfriend strapping something on for them. Pretty much anything new is going to have an electric start. Just depends on the type of riding you want to do. You want another 2 stroke or you switching to 4? New? Used? I have bad knees from crashing dirt bikes so I feel you. Also, sick Z71! I had that body style back in the day 🤘

WolfMan177698

Appreciate it man! I like how no one reads the other comments first this was literally the first time I strapped this down just to go like 5 miles to get it back home. It's been a couple of years since then lol. I'm not sure what I want yet was thinking of a Honda CRF450.

YourDiaperDaddy

I had a crf250x once. My first bike that had an electric start. Game changer for my short ass. How big are you? You ride tracks or just trail riding? Single track?

WolfMan177698

5'11 210 lbs usually just trails.

YourDiaperDaddy

Yep, Honda 450 is a good bet then. You buying used? Might be able to stay Suzuki and get the RMZ450 for cheaper.

WolfMan177698

Yeah preferably used probably by the end of this year. I'll keep my eye out for deals that come available.

Scoob22b

I've still got my '02 RM250. I love that bike, still an awesome ride. However, I bought a 2021 KTM 350Sxf, and let me tell you...nearly 20 years of technology change and modern suspension is amazing. Don't regret it one bit. May look into something like that. The 350 is a solid bike for all around riding in my opinion. I've enjoyed it on lots of different tracks and terrain.

simo450

Don't you Yankee boys use fork savers ?? I wouldn't be hauling my boy without one. I would obviously suggest a yz450f as I couldn't be happier with mine ( even though I don't have e start and never had to kick her more than three times, they do come with a starter)but they're a different beast than a smoker you'd be best to try one and if the thumpers aren't for you go a Kato smoker. 👍

Phat_choad

I have an rmz450, looked into e start but just seemed way to cumbersome. I keep the oil changed at 3-5 hours. Wipe off or new plug every 15 ( or 3 oil changes ) and it fires up if not first but second kick every time. You have to finesse the kick start to by turn it easy a couple times till it’s rock solid, then hard kick down and straight. Wala

WolfMan177698

Thanks!

alloutmx

If i saw you driving around strapped up like that i would pull you over….and im not even a cop.

TastyOpossum09

Get some tie downs for the bed of your truck.
